Even as such Gray had a bang-bang play at the plate (I think he made a good decision to throw to 1B), but when you consider the disaster of missing the bunt or popping it up versus all the ways that run can score if you let the AB play out, it’s just a terrible gamble.
Not when a walk scores one and doesn’t make an out, a fly ball scores one, a non DP grounder can score one, a hit can score 2-4…But, whatever. I guess the theory is that Aardsma can’t possibly hold a 2-run lead but if you can just give him 3 runs he’s good to go.

Even as such Gray had a bang-bang play at the plate (I think he made a good decision to throw to 1B), but when you consider the disaster of missing the bunt or popping it up versus all the ways that run can score if you let the AB play out, it’s just a terrible gamble.

Not when a walk scores one and doesn’t make an out, a fly ball scores one, a non DP grounder can score one, a hit can score 2-4…But, whatever. I guess the theory is that Aardsma can’t possibly hold a 2-run lead but if you can just give him 3 runs he’s good to go.
