It’s been played to perfection lately. I like seeing Anaheim taken out in the first round. Notice that Angels fans no longer bring up first round exits like they used to?
I sat near a crowd of REALLY OBNOXIOUS Angels fans last year.....
they were trying to engage anybody they could in their foolishness. Made me sad b/c they were with a bunch of kids and I kept thinking what horrible role models they were for their children. It was so distracting.
I don’t like to go to Yankees games anymore because the crowd just gets drunk and unruly. Sox fans just take over the ballpark – sadly enough.
I can't really speak for Angels fans because I've never seen a group of them together anywhere.
Yankees fans are obnoxious, but if you give it right back to them, they laugh and befriend you. And, if your team kicks their ass, they’ll say, hey, your team kicked our ass.
Red Sox fans will be obnoxious and hateful and will claim a curse or a conspiracy or some other bullshit.
But failing that, yes, the slegnA should lose, because winning the first round can’t make Red Sox fans any douchebaggier than they already are, and having them be beaten by the Yanks in the second round would be amusing. Although I hope the Yanks lose too, preferably to the Twins, but the Tigers would do.
in all seriousness, it is kinda strange. She’s like 20 and all gothy/puthy/whatever the hell these kids are nowadays and we’re totally into the same things. It’s like our generation is back en vogue or something. Very odd.
We had this big conversation before we left about whether to even take the computer or not
since we were gonna be on vacation. Actually glad we did – although it make me wonder when it became indispensible in my life! I guess I just have to embrace my geekiness!!
So after all these years I finally watched A Clockwork Orange last night
With the way movies and TV are these days it’s kind of hard to picture it the way it was received back in 1971, because as violent and graphic as a few things were I just wasn’t really shocked by it because I’m so used to seeing stuff like it all over the place now.
You know how much easier it is to deal with a soulless automaton who lives only to spike at the next scheduled appointment with Satan?
Meth heads on the other hand….balls of fury and stupidity just waiting to be pushed into cardiac arrest, but only after they’ve bit, spit, and bled all over you. Inconsiderate fucks.
Junkies have the decency to check out when they’re good and ready and don’t really trouble you at all when they do. Very considerate. And best of all, they never bleed on you.
I don’t really like super sweet stuff like donuts anymore either. (I don’t eat heavy sweet stuff hardly at all, if ever anymore. Ice Cream, chocolate almonds from trader joe’s are about my limit now.)
–Today was hazing day for the rookies, who had to dress up in costumes to wear to the airport for the flight to Seattle. Among the highlights: Starting pitchers Brett Anderson, Trevor Cahill, Gio Gonzalez and Clayton Mortensen all dressed up as Tele Tubbies (all you parents, pardon the punctuation and spelling if it’s wrong!). And closer Andrew Bailey, who was forced to wear a costume that resembled a part of the male anatomy that isn’t suitable for Chin Music (Bailey was supposed to change into a different costume before leaving the stadium).
Dress up: There were 14 rookies in costume on rookie hazing day, including starters Brett Anderson, Trevor Cahill, Gio Gonzalez and Clayton Mortensen as Teletubbies. “I think I’m Laa-Laa,” Gonzalez said. “I feel like Laa-Laa.” The less said about Landon Powell in lingerie the better.
Oh, Gio. Poor guy had to do rookie hazing two years in a row.
They make all the rookies wear stupid shit after a series. If you look close up there, swingles is wearing the devil costume thing and Buck is in the batman shit.
And there are many kinds here to satisfy my taste. (Mac & Jack’s, Dos Equis, Pacifico, Anchor Steam—althought that isn’t widely available up here—one restaurant called the Ram that serves tasty Amber’s too.) But, yeah.
But not very liveblog-friendly, as the TV and the computer are in different rooms. Probably someone is getting up every couple of innings, checking AN, and coming back to report “They’re still talking about masturbation and old cartoons. Anyone have any witty remarks?”
Flew in from miami beach boac
Didn’t get to bed last night
On the way the paper bag was on my knee
Man i had a dreadful flight
I’m back in the u.s.s.r.
You don’t know how lucky you are boy
Back in the u.s.s.r.
Been away so long i hardly knew the place
Gee it’s good to be back home
Leave it till tomorrow to unpack my case
Honey disconnect the phone
I’m back in the u.s.s.r.
You don’t know how lucky you are boy
Back in the u.s.s.r.
Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do
Nowhere to go
I wanna be sedated
Just get me to the airport
And put me on a plane
Hurry hurry hurry before I go insane
I cant control my fingers
I cant control my brain
Oh no oh no
Just put me in a wheelchair
And get me to the show
Hurry hurry hurry before I go loco
I cant control my fingers
I cant control my toes
Oh no oh no
The signing of Giambi and Griffey were similar in respect to the teams they broke into the majors on…if Giambi had somehow performed the same as Griffey in their twiglights….and then how it might have made a difference between 3rd and 4th place…..OH MY GOD WE SUCK!!
Jerry made quick work of that guy
just like with the ladies!

How about "Go, Go, Gophers"
Anyone else remember that one?

iglew - September 29, 2009
Come on and see, see, see, Tennessee Tuxedo
How about Top Cat? I always liked that one.
Englishmajor - September 29, 2009
Duuuuh, gee, Tennessee.
I don’t remember “Top Cat”. I think maybe I didn’t have that. There were only two channels in Anchorage when I was a little kid.
iglew - September 29, 2009
Was one of them CBS?
And did you get the CBS Children’s Film Festival, hosted by Kukla, Fran, and Ollie?
Englishmajor - September 29, 2009
The only cartoons I watched at that age
were little mini-features built in to a local show called “Mother Moose”.

can they both lose?

i hate the slegnA
but the sox aren’t much better
cuppingmaster - September 29, 2009
sox rate higher on my scale of hate.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
this is highly illogical, captain
we don’t compete directly against them
cuppingmaster - September 29, 2009
they've become unbearable since they've won.
and it’s not really the team. It’s the fans. I despise Red Sox fans.
Angels fans not as much.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
+1
My name is cuppingmaster, and I agree with this statement
cuppingmaster - September 29, 2009
I sat near a crowd of REALLY OBNOXIOUS Angels fans last year.....

Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
sawx fans did have a whimsy loveability to them
but that disappeared after 2002
cityplANner - September 29, 2009
Same thing happened with the Cowboys after they won the SB in 78
pookeyguru - September 29, 2009
They were kind of like Cubs fans
Flashfire - September 29, 2009
Except they acted like their team had the amount of titles the Yankees did
Flashfire - September 29, 2009
That's because they read too many Dan Shaughnessy books
Any real baseball fan knows the Curse of Bambino is bullshit.
pookeyguru - September 29, 2009
Also, at least Yankees fans have some idea of baseball, and it's history, outside of the Yankees
This might be because they’ve been successful over an extended period of time, so can afford a little laisse majeste, but still
bobnothing - September 29, 2009
nah.
There’s a ton of Bostonians and New Yorkers here. They’re all a lot like that.
I think there’s something in the water in Boston.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009

bobnothing - September 29, 2009
crazy-making lead, perhaps.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
That's what it is for me too
pookeyguru - September 29, 2009
It's a tough call....
but the Angles are geographically closer. So they’re somehow more annoying to me. I actually find Sox fans more annoying than the team itself.
alox - September 29, 2009
um, out of my brain, you.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
and the NYY too
then i would be happy
Deborah51 - September 29, 2009
yes....
just not at the same time.
I think that’s some sort of Newtonian Law or something.
alox - September 29, 2009

The trick is to grab all three and run for the woods,

There’s something intrinsically profound in the choices you laid out……I just can’t figure out what it is….

wacchampions - September 29, 2009
which is it?
need signs?
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
I have the Hotel Indigo there, do u know where that is?
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
my Grandma's condo was about four blocks from there.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
Cool..yeah its a cool area around there...I do enjoy visiting that Hotel....I'll let you know the next time I will be down there...
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
Do you get to travel internationally??
BERRYJO - September 29, 2009
My Hotels are all located in the U.S. and Canada (if you consider that International)
But I get discounts at hotels all over the world… : )
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
Well that's something!!
Makes traveling a lot easier!!
BERRYJO - September 29, 2009
Yeah it makes it nice...the perks of working for the worlds largest Hotel company...
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
do you need an IT guy to travel all around the world or the US and Canada?
please?
mikev - September 29, 2009
LOL...are you looking for a job or just to travel around the world?
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
yes?
mikev - September 29, 2009
Travel Travel!!
I could be a secret hotel shopper or whatever they call people that check things out incognito!
BERRYJO - September 29, 2009
HELL YEAH.
that would be cool.
mikev - September 29, 2009
So like you would wear dark sunglasses and check into Hotels and spy on their service..
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
i do that anyway, might as well get paid for it
OakA'sHoney - September 29, 2009
u wear dark sunglasses or spy on service?
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
If that's what it takes!!
BERRYJO - September 29, 2009
Staying in hotels is fun, unless you have to do it all the time then it gets old...
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
Um me, me!!!
Pick me!
ZigFan31 - September 29, 2009
I did.
mikev - September 29, 2009
I believe that you have already done this once...lol...except u were not a spy...
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
Ok, but I can keep going and going....
ZigFan31 - September 29, 2009
prove it
mikev - September 29, 2009
Oh Dear!!
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
LOL...yeah, just travel around from city to city....I dont recommend Buffalo though...FYI..
Are you going to be able to make it this Sunday?
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
are you?
mikev - September 29, 2009
I will be there...I dont think we met at the last one..
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
I don't remember.
I didn’t do a lot of new people meeting as I was tending to the BAG and Lynn’s succulent seafood.
mikev - September 29, 2009
Yes...I am hard to miss but I will make sure to introduce myself this time...
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
If I don't really recognize you
Just say hi. I don’t correlate AN names to real people very well at all.
I generally don’t look at AN names, I just read comments.
mikev - September 29, 2009
shorter version
iglew - September 29, 2009
no dude, did you try the bacon wrapped scallops???
I mean.. really, did you try them?!?
mikev - September 29, 2009
Oh they were the F'n Bomb!!!
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
Well, I wasn't there,
and even if I were, I hate seafood.
iglew - September 29, 2009
hmm.
maybe we were separated at birth.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
me too, usually.
mikev - September 29, 2009
we can be friends then
ZigFan31 - September 29, 2009
Why? You are only friends with people who hate seafood?
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
hehe...its an expression.
And yes, I don’t like seafood.
ZigFan31 - September 29, 2009
Oh, and by the way,
what Camille Paglia says about that is not true.
iglew - September 29, 2009
OK good, I thought that maybe I had exposed your prejudice...LOL
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
I like you and you like seafood!
ZigFan31 - September 29, 2009
Ok, cool...now that we have this settled...
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
It up on the air right now. :-(
ZigFan31 - September 29, 2009
...
…
mikev - September 29, 2009
It owuld be awesome if u were there since last time we did not even meet...
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
cool!
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
Are you having a cheese steak and booing Santa?
sirbed - September 29, 2009
Cheesesteak -- one word
And he also needs to eat a Tastykake for dessert.
Nick - September 29, 2009
Well excuseeeeeee me
sirbed - September 29, 2009
tastycakes are overrated.
glorified zingers.
cheesesteaks are sent directly from hell by Satan to tempt me.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
Lucky for me I can't fucking stand cheese whiz.
mikev - September 29, 2009
Oh you can get it with provolone or wiz (as they call it)
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
oh.
mikev - September 29, 2009
It's worth getting a good hoagie, too
Nick - September 29, 2009
Yes, and don't even think about getting in line for the cheesesteak and not having your order down...they will throw you out of line in a second...
I got thrown out of line for ordering fries at the steak window…..silly me!!
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
Yes, cheesesteak good-tastykake good...
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
You could wash it down with a birch beer
and get up the next morning and have some scrapple for breakfast.
Nick - September 29, 2009
I have no idea about Tastykake or scrapple
but birch beer is awesome.
danmerqury - September 29, 2009
Honestly, you could skip the Tastykakes
but scrapple is really, really, really good. Really.
Nick - September 29, 2009
yup.
I gotta Baltimore girl who works for me.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
Is she a monkey?
iglew - September 29, 2009
she is indeed.,
She’s a weird goth/punk monkey. And we’re in love.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
Being in love with your monkey is a gothic romantic tradition.
Do you have an insane wife locked up in a room in the attic?
iglew - September 29, 2009
(gasp!)
how did you know?!
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
Was your monkey raised in an orphanage?
iglew - September 29, 2009
I think she was!
This is getting weird.
You’re really gonna hafta stop reading my mail.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
Dude, just be dark and brooding and
you’re good to go.
iglew - September 29, 2009
k.
in all seriousness, it is kinda strange. She’s like 20 and all gothy/puthy/whatever the hell these kids are nowadays and we’re totally into the same things. It’s like our generation is back en vogue or something. Very odd.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
Keep the sign shop dark and gloomy
with secret closets and mysterious sounds. Working late at night is good, too.
iglew - September 29, 2009
I do that a lot!
Start playing Bauhaus?!
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
That's what I did this summer when I was on vaca in NY
It was really strange! And I feel for the NRAF b/c I kept falling asleep in the 6th inning or so!
BERRYJO - September 29, 2009
LOL...yes it is a very weird experience...
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
We had this big conversation before we left about whether to even take the computer or not
since we were gonna be on vacation. Actually glad we did – although it make me wonder when it became indispensible in my life! I guess I just have to embrace my geekiness!!
BERRYJO - September 29, 2009
LOL..I have to have mine for work....
wacchampions - September 29, 2009
sigh
doctorK - September 29, 2009
well, damn. 2 more stranded runners.
Deborah51 - September 29, 2009
the Rajai cooldown continues...
cityplANner - September 29, 2009
So after all these years I finally watched A Clockwork Orange last night
With the way movies and TV are these days it’s kind of hard to picture it the way it was received back in 1971, because as violent and graphic as a few things were I just wasn’t really shocked by it because I’m so used to seeing stuff like it all over the place now.
Still an excellent movie, though.
Flashfire - September 29, 2009
Violence America can get used to
Rape and Graphic Sexuality isn’t as mainstream as violence.
Hit4TheCycle - September 29, 2009
Plus, the notion of English kids speaking Russian slang was a lot more creepy and threatening back then, too
Nick - September 29, 2009
I can see that, yeah
Flashfire - September 29, 2009
It's a difference sort of violence, though
More personal, not just guns and explosions.
iglew - September 29, 2009
i've seen it twice
I admire it but I don’t like it if that makes any sense
sirbed - September 29, 2009
Have you read the book? read the book
I love the film, a lot, but the book’s ending is better
bobnothing - September 29, 2009
Not yet, but I will
Flashfire - September 29, 2009
the whole of the book is better.
but why he changed the neding is a mystery to me.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
ending.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
Yeah, I'm sure there's some story about why he did
but it escapes me at the moment
bobnothing - September 29, 2009
Freude Schöne Gütterfunken, Tochter aus Elysium
doctorK - September 29, 2009
Bless You.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
You could sing "Lovely, lovely Sarasota" to the same tune
Englishmajor - September 29, 2009
True, but then it would be necessary for LB to kill himself afterwards
doctorK - September 29, 2009
exactly.
this place is hell. Seriously.
BTW, someone STOLE my A/C unit last night from work.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
You might want to bolt those down.
Just sayin….
alox - September 29, 2009
It was.
They undid the top and took out all the parts.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
Sounds like they wanted the copper...
for scrap.
alox - September 29, 2009
for heroin, perhaps.
ala Bubbs.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
Aghfganistan is back in business.
You just don’t see old time junkies like you used to back in the day.
But I’ve been told that heroin is starting to make a comeback. All things old are eventually new again I suppose.
Which is okay I suppose. I’m getting fucking sick and tired of spun out meth heads already.
alox - September 29, 2009
like I mentioned to iglew earlier.
the early nineties are cool again. Heroin’s back! Yay!
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
Hells yes!
And best of all, they never bleed on you.
alox - September 29, 2009
They do nod out occasionally, though.
which can be helpful as well.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
Are you kidding?
That’s one of their most redeeming qualities! And when they’re done, you usually won’t know it for a couple of days. No trouble at all.
alox - September 29, 2009
Kind of like a roach motel.
Easy clean up, no hassles.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
BUmmer
At least your headed into the fall – and the chance of less humidity in the near future??
BERRYJO - September 29, 2009
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
A great black comedy
I need to watch it again. It’s been too long.
pookeyguru - September 29, 2009
98 pitches?
He eats that for breakfast. Sigh.
cuppingmaster - September 29, 2009
I eat oatmeal for breakfast
sirbed - September 29, 2009
Breakfast
I had a bagel this morning.
Rated-R Superstar - September 29, 2009
had krispy kreme
as long as we’re sharing.
cuppingmaster - September 29, 2009
naughty naughty
OakA'sHoney - September 29, 2009
Doughnuts
Rated-R Superstar - September 29, 2009
I have bagels all the time
sirbed - September 29, 2009
me too, or yogurt
OakA'sHoney - September 29, 2009
you're healthy and shit
cuppingmaster - September 29, 2009
krispy kreme is crack
OakA'sHoney - September 29, 2009
Krispy Kreme
If it’s crack, I guess it’s okay. As long as it’s not methamphetamine, I think Colin Cowherd is okay with it.
Rated-R Superstar - September 29, 2009
I don't like him
sirbed - September 29, 2009
Colin Cowherd
I like him and Scott Van Pelt. I also like Dan Patrick.
Rated-R Superstar - September 29, 2009
I like Patrick
but I listened to Cowherd for the first time this summer and he wasn’t my cup of tea
sirbed - September 29, 2009
Cowherd
Football is his thing, so you should listen to him on Friday’s and Monday’s.
Rated-R Superstar - September 29, 2009
I'm a little busy in the mornings when he's on
sirbed - September 29, 2009
Gross too
pookeyguru - September 29, 2009
in-deed
I can’t stand to go inside a Krispy Kreme store because of the smell.
iglew - September 29, 2009
Yeah that's part of it
I don’t really like super sweet stuff like donuts anymore either. (I don’t eat heavy sweet stuff hardly at all, if ever anymore. Ice Cream, chocolate almonds from trader joe’s are about my limit now.)
pookeyguru - September 29, 2009
i'm not really a sweet guy either
but i love me some donuts and coffee
cuppingmaster - September 29, 2009
mmmm coffee
OakA'sHoney - September 29, 2009
That's too bad. Girls like sweet guys.
ZigFan31 - September 29, 2009
I see where I went wrong.
mikev - September 29, 2009
Dont get me wrong. I like assholes too.
ZigFan31 - September 29, 2009
so I'm safe
mikev - September 29, 2009
it would appear so.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
not tonight, apparently.
but when it’s convenient, I am.
mikev - September 29, 2009
oh please stop.
its not very becoming.
ZigFan31 - September 29, 2009
oh is it my turn now?
mikev - September 29, 2009
you two aren't even together and you need counseling.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
counselors are dumb.
it’s stupid when you know what they’re going to say before they even say it.
mikev - September 29, 2009
Thanks......not all of us are
BERRYJO - September 29, 2009
no offense.
mikev - September 29, 2009
agrd.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
Counselors are people who can help you
if your goal is to change but you don’t know how.
If you don’t want to change, it’s just a waste of money.
iglew - September 29, 2009
ok
mikev - September 29, 2009
{biting tongue hard}
ZigFan31 - September 29, 2009
no no, say it!
mikev - September 29, 2009
i'm nice
i’m salty though
cuppingmaster - September 29, 2009
salty? saltalamacchia?
OakA'sHoney - September 29, 2009
srsly, what does this mean?
ZigFan31 - September 29, 2009
"jump the spot"
iglew - September 29, 2009
i like salty foods
mmmmm doritos
cuppingmaster - September 29, 2009
They love sweet guys, but
they bang guys like you. It’s a tradeoff you have to make.
iglew - September 29, 2009
I'm OK with that
mikev - September 29, 2009
LOL
(but…THIS!)
ZigFan31 - September 29, 2009
Hey I'm a fat asshole
But I don’t love super sweet stuff. The problem is I adore grease Dr Pepper and meat/cheese combinations.
pookeyguru - September 29, 2009
mmm grease Dr. Pepper
sirbed - September 29, 2009
It's the shit I tell you
pookeyguru - September 29, 2009
I like sugar just fine,
it’s the creamy stuff I can’t stand.
iglew - September 29, 2009
Yay, yogurt!
Cream cheese is nasty.
iglew - September 29, 2009
I'm having kasha tomorrow morning

They’re obviously busy with me.
Rated-R Superstar - September 29, 2009

OakA'sHoney - September 29, 2009

I’ll put the O/U on pitches that get past the catcher at two again.
Flashfire - September 29, 2009
$20 on the over.
mikev - September 29, 2009
I should probably make it 1.5
At least that way there’s no push.
Flashfire - September 29, 2009

I’m feeling optimistic.
Rated-R Superstar - September 29, 2009
I'm feeling gassy

He might be one of my new favorite A’s to watch
bobnothing - September 29, 2009
He's just in the bullpen so far
Flashfire - September 29, 2009
It's too late, alas

Deborah51 - September 29, 2009

BERRYJO - September 29, 2009
I take it back.....I was getting confused......
sorry
BERRYJO - September 29, 2009
Yay, they fixed Pitchf/x.
Henry Rodriguez wouldn’t be as fun without it.
danmerqury - September 29, 2009
I missed Henry's appearance(s) so...... is he wild?
ak_A - September 29, 2009
you could say that.
mikev - September 29, 2009

Flashfire - September 29, 2009
that sounds like a bad movie
I’m sure Michael Bay will be making it for next summer

Floor would look something like the gif that mikev posted earlier.
doctorK - September 29, 2009
who spills mayonnaise on the floor in ia theater?
I mean honestly?
mikev - September 29, 2009
Theater
Sometimes it’s dark and things just happen in there.
Rated-R Superstar - September 29, 2009

doctorK - September 29, 2009
I'll go stand in line now.
I swear, some of the things I’d do to her are probably illegal in parts of the US and Puerto Rico
mikev - September 29, 2009
Hell, isn't adultery still illegal in some states?

mikev - September 29, 2009
I log into AN for the first time in a long time,
and I see… that. We’re allowed to post stuff like that now?
Kimberly - September 29, 2009
"That"? What ever could you be talking about?
I haven’t the foggiest.
danmerqury - September 29, 2009
not really.
Mike’s just being inappropriate.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
I can't tell you that you're late?
mikev - September 29, 2009
OMG hi!!!!!!!!
ZigFan31 - September 29, 2009
Geez - a blast from the past
doctorK - September 29, 2009
Hi!
You’re a picture person, right? We were just bemoaning the lack of rookie hazing pics… maybe you have the internet skillz to find some…?
whiteshoes40 - September 29, 2009
I'm on it.
Kimberly - September 29, 2009
sweeeet.
oh the memories…
whiteshoes40 - September 29, 2009

OakA'sHoney - September 29, 2009
I bet you'd like to see Buck's hazing picture
Actually I don’t know if there is one.
Flashfire - September 29, 2009
what year is this one from? who's in it?
OakA'sHoney - September 29, 2009

ZigFan31 - September 29, 2009
I think you need to check with oah to get sammich details
mikev - September 29, 2009
Sad.
The trusty AP photographers failed us this year. I vote we send you to all games as the AN photographer next year. Yes?
whiteshoes40 - September 29, 2009
Gray, Smith, Gio, Ziggy, CarGon, Buck?, Gallagher, Sweeney, Dale, MoneyPenny.
ZigFan31 - September 29, 2009

OakA'sHoney - September 29, 2009

ZigFan31 - September 29, 2009

OakA'sHoney - September 29, 2009

whiteshoes40 - September 29, 2009
Ahhh
Flashfire - September 29, 2009
Oh yeah
Fail, me.
Flashfire - September 29, 2009
rookie hazing every year.
They make all the rookies wear stupid shit after a series. If you look close up there, swingles is wearing the devil costume thing and Buck is in the batman shit.
mikev - September 29, 2009

cuppingmaster - September 29, 2009
You're an A's fan
How dare you have that type of unbridled enthusiasm?
pookeyguru - September 29, 2009
Unbridled Enthusiasm
That belongs on the Sharks blog!
Rated-R Superstar - September 29, 2009
That's right
A Bay Area team with a REAL future.

cuppingmaster - September 29, 2009

ak_A - September 29, 2009
Chez Nico has been pretty silent for a while
If news of some kind of Lord of the Flies thing in Berkeley hits, I think we’ll know why.
Wonder which of the group there would be Piggy…
Flashfire - September 29, 2009
yikes
OakA'sHoney - September 29, 2009
does nico have a conch?
mikev - September 29, 2009
That's a very personal question
Flashfire - September 29, 2009
clearly I'm crossing all kinds of lines tonight.
mikev - September 29, 2009
Isn't that your role in life?
pookeyguru - September 29, 2009
pretty much.
mikev - September 29, 2009
I salute you with my crappy Widmer Amber Ale called Drop Top
pookeyguru - September 29, 2009
I enjoyed Lagunitas IPA, myself
mikev - September 29, 2009
I don't like IPA's for some reason
I stick to Amber’s or Lager’s.
pookeyguru - September 29, 2009
I've just started catching a taste for them.
I’m generally not a big beer drinker, but it’s normally darker stuff when I do.
mikev - September 29, 2009
I'm a beer drinker
And there are many kinds here to satisfy my taste. (Mac & Jack’s, Dos Equis, Pacifico, Anchor Steam—althought that isn’t widely available up here—one restaurant called the Ram that serves tasty Amber’s too.) But, yeah.
pookeyguru - September 29, 2009
Sucks to your ass-mar!
iglew - September 29, 2009
Speaking of hazing pictures,
No one ever delivered on that Chez Nico picture promise. Grrr.
danmerqury - September 29, 2009
The Chez is a fabulous venue
But not very liveblog-friendly, as the TV and the computer are in different rooms. Probably someone is getting up every couple of innings, checking AN, and coming back to report “They’re still talking about masturbation and old cartoons. Anyone have any witty remarks?”
Englishmajor - September 29, 2009
nobody has a laptop?
mikev - September 29, 2009
I feel so dirty.
Leopold Bloom - September 29, 2009
And truthfully...
…how sad would it be if they were all following along on AN while at a get-together like that?
Flashfire - September 29, 2009
I think you just had a witty remark.
ZigFan31 - September 29, 2009

I’ll randomly jump in and post a similar observation as my former co-worker.
D’oh, bases-loaded K, when does spring training start?
gohlkus - September 29, 2009 via mobile
Methinks Meloan
Me no likey.
gohlkus - September 29, 2009 via mobile
I'm thinking Arbys
sirbed - September 29, 2009
Thanks again, Bob
Warm up Rodriguez and bring in Meloan. We already know Meloan can throw the ball where he wants.
Flashfire - September 29, 2009
Josh Wilson.
I just glanced up at the screen and thought, “whoa, it’s John Olerud”.
Something about his face and his stance, looked just like him.
iglew - September 29, 2009
So that roof at Safeco is just a big umbrella?
It doesn’t provide warmth to the spectators?
Hit4TheCycle - September 29, 2009
Yeah - outdoor stadium with a roof
doctorK - September 29, 2009

OakA'sHoney - September 29, 2009

I miss Hannahan.

pookeyguru - September 29, 2009
I wonder if they have draft-pick whores among their fans, too.
iglew - September 29, 2009
You think baseball fans are draft whores...
…never follow the NBA.
pookeyguru - September 29, 2009
Don't worry, I don't.
mikev - September 29, 2009
Worry about you being a draft whore?
Not a problem.

Englishmajor - September 29, 2009

pookeyguru - September 29, 2009
That is actually a line delivered by Olympia Dukakis in Steel Magnolias, BTW
You have to imagine the Louisiana accent.
Englishmajor - September 29, 2009
It's been so long since I've seen that
But, I do have a vague recollection of her saying that.
pookeyguru - September 29, 2009
That won't ever be a problem.
iglew - September 29, 2009
That was weird.
That was supposed to read “number one forever.”

Amazing how I was thinking that....
The signing of Giambi and Griffey were similar in respect to the teams they broke into the majors on…if Giambi had somehow performed the same as Griffey in their twiglights….and then how it might have made a difference between 3rd and 4th place…..OH MY GOD WE SUCK!!
