Fresno State gave Cincinnati all they could handle.
We didn’t just lose to Oregon, we were totally destroyed, demolished and crushed. Still, Oregon is a pretty good team; however, I thought it’d be a relatively close game.
Mississippi, Penn State and Miami were other top teams to lose. We were not alone today. This is just one loss. We have to win next week’s game, though, or else we can’t win the Pac-10.
If you have a 40% chance, go for it. I’d like to see a replay to gauge whether there was the window of opportunity. Of course, Barton has been sizzling so…Go Dale!
When they play like they are in the hunt – when they are so out of the hunt I feel like they have some heart. I’m not sure I could have said that at some other points in the season. It gives me hope for next year even though we might not have all the pieces in the house to go post-season. But like I posted in a thread recently – I believe in the magic and intangibles!!
Even though it burns the closer unnecessarily, there is something to be said for treating your closer right, which means giving him every opportunity to get saves. That is his livelihood and his pay day. The Angels pull that shit with Fuentes all the time, why he is leading the league….lame
she and Dr Crusher were stretching together while discussing something or other? I think that was the one where Dr Crusher was having a fling with the Trill ambassador.
They say it was after six years, and it was done to make the character stronger. But maybe we’re both right and there was a change after the first season and again after the sixth.
but it is e-gon. I’ll say this: if we can beat the Angles back to back with Eveland and E-gon pitching, then this team has really turned the corner. Go A’s!
My standards have been so low for the past couple seasons that 75-80 looks really awesome. It’s a little sad. But let’s aim higher! Winning record, maybe?!
At least I had the luck to be at the 2000 hit Ichiro game where the A’s won. Made up for that. (Although I’ll admit, the seats I was at Safeco were much nicer.)
Team performance aside
vlad looks like garbage.
does scioscia have the balls to move him?
is tori playing hurt?
does scioscia have the balls to move him or pine him?
that’s what bothers me … until the rangers are 1 behind

i don't know
statistics probably say yes, but who knows.
cuppingmaster - September 26, 2009
Must be today's theme
Texas scored 11 eleven! runs today with TWO out!!
One won lost won - September 26, 2009
EIGHTEEN hits. EIGHTEEN. I don't believe it.
And EPat walks?! That is even stranger.
whiteshoes40 - September 26, 2009
EPat has walked twice tonight.
GreenNGoldSooner - September 26, 2009
All I have to say is.
“Suck it Angles” Your run is over next year.

You guys have no idea how satisfying this is to beat these

My slegnA friend called (He is in Tulsa for a month) when they were up 9-2 and gloated.
Guess who is getting a call when the game ends. I don’t care what time is there or who in his family I piss off.
Trainman - September 26, 2009
that will be sweet
Deborah51 - September 26, 2009
LMAO
BERRYJO - September 26, 2009

OakA'sHoney - September 26, 2009

Deborah51 - September 26, 2009

bashbro89 - September 26, 2009
you gotta be cruel to be kind
GreenNGoldSooner - September 26, 2009
You gotta be clothed to get naked.
LoneStranger - September 26, 2009
And now Breslow is in line for the win
Further showing what a joke the win stat can be.
Flashfire - September 26, 2009
Hey, he did his job!
He got in the game. After that, it’s all up to….
Now the NFL is giving W-L records to QBs. Even MORE Absurd!

Brett Farve unretired to try for the Cy Young this year.
LoneStranger - September 26, 2009
I'm so glad this team can't hit
Else a blow out game like this where our ’replacement level" starter + Co. allowed 10 runs might have gotten interesting.
Oh— wait a minute………………………..
eliot123 - September 26, 2009
But seriously-- Has Barton turned a corner??
It really appears so— maybe Chris Carter put the fear of god in him
eliot123 - September 26, 2009
Im not a believer till he does it in April.

Leopold Bloom - September 26, 2009

BERRYJO - September 26, 2009

cuppingmaster - September 26, 2009
Good job Breslow

For Christ Sakes Breslow
how the hell do you have a 3.44 ERA?
If this is any indication, it will not be that way much longer
Trainman - September 26, 2009
Because he's been good a lot more than he's been bad?
Flashfire - September 26, 2009
I'm not sold on him
His command is pretty “come and go” both in and out of the strike zone. He’s not bad, but to me he’s “second tier.”
Nico - September 26, 2009
I seem to recall him giving up GW bombs
several times this season.
Very mediocre and second tier like Nico says.

ElQuesoCapitan - September 26, 2009
Here's where I think you go to Bailey
Heart of the order, runners on. The save is now. Gray can pitch the 9th if Bailey shuts the Angels down in the with 0-1 runs in the 8th.
Nico - September 26, 2009
nice nico
excellent strategy.
One won lost won - September 26, 2009
i like that thinking
Deborah51 - September 26, 2009
Breslow suddenly becoming CC Sabathia works pretty well too.
Nico - September 26, 2009
so you want to start calling your saver , the semi - saver?
bashbro89 - September 26, 2009
super-saver
any situation, put the fire out.
They used to call them “firemen” out of the bullpen.
One won lost won - September 26, 2009
firemen because you burn them up off the game roster?
what is to say you don’t get in a worse jam in the 9th?

OaklandSi - September 26, 2009
my god
What is with this team! This is so god damned exciting and so hard to not get over-hyped about next season.
ChadGod - September 26, 2009
I agree....
BERRYJO - September 26, 2009

ChadGod - September 26, 2009
YAY STRICKOUT
doctorK - September 26, 2009

Syphon - September 26, 2009

streetfan - September 26, 2009
he's been so good for so long

cuppingmaster - September 26, 2009

“Hey, he used to be really awesome!”
Nico - September 26, 2009
nah, he needs another year or two of mediocrity
then we’ll have him right where we want him
cuppingmaster - September 26, 2009
Two outs.
ElQuesoCapitan - September 26, 2009
Nice pitchin' by Breslow!
Thank goodness Vlad isn’t quite himself anymore.
GreenNGoldSooner - September 26, 2009
wow guerrero would have been all over that in '06
cuppingmaster - September 26, 2009
That was so Sweeney of Vlad.....
wacchampions - September 26, 2009
I hope they get closer
That way the Angels can get another taste of the best reliever in baseball. Bailey that is.
ChadGod - September 26, 2009
If that had gone out....
…I would have so blamed you!
GreenNGoldSooner - September 26, 2009
The only way we could stick it to the Angels more is if we manufactured a crappy save for Bailey.
One of those tying-run-on-deck type deals.
danmerqury - September 26, 2009
I wish the A's would do that bullshit
Even though it burns the closer unnecessarily, there is something to be said for treating your closer right, which means giving him every opportunity to get saves. That is his livelihood and his pay day. The Angels pull that shit with Fuentes all the time, why he is leading the league….lame
ChadGod - September 26, 2009
Torri Hunter is playing hurt
He grimaced a bunch of times last night and did not look good there.
Keep playing him Scioscia. He needs to be out there every inning of every game.
Trainman - September 26, 2009
poor poor guy.
Leopold Bloom - September 26, 2009
saw that too!
He must really be feeling it.
One won lost won - September 26, 2009

Nothing serious just miss the rest of the season and feel fine and healthy when there are no games to play.

the borg queen you mean?
cuppingmaster - September 26, 2009
I assumed he meant Deanna Troi.
They certainly costumed her to show it off.
iglew - September 26, 2009
yeah, her.
what was it about that costume?
Leopold Bloom - September 26, 2009
The ass that was inside it.
mikev - September 26, 2009

Leopold Bloom - September 26, 2009
Do you remember the scene where
she and Dr Crusher were stretching together while discussing something or other? I think that was the one where Dr Crusher was having a fling with the Trill ambassador.
iglew - September 26, 2009
not by name,
but I’m sure I was fond of it.
Leopold Bloom - September 26, 2009
Wrong diplomat, wrong fling.
I was close. It was the one where Troi was having the fling with the half-Betazoid guy who was negotiating some treaty.
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that the scene can be found on YouTube.
iglew - September 26, 2009
nono, she was equally hot.
but the empath.
Leopold Bloom - September 26, 2009

cuppingmaster - September 26, 2009
People complained during the first season of TNG, so they put her in a regular uniform most of the time thereafter.
Such a shame.
LoneStranger - September 26, 2009
they did?
why?
Leopold Bloom - September 26, 2009
for some reason i remember her in the faded purple outfit most of the time
cuppingmaster - September 26, 2009
Maybe it wasn't always a regular uniform, but they did move away from the sexier stuff.
LoneStranger - September 26, 2009
i suppose
i remember a flowy teal dress she wore far less than i would have liked
cuppingmaster - September 26, 2009
The lavender body stocking
was definitely the one.
I actually wasn’t a huge Troi fan, but that was a hell of a costume.
iglew - September 26, 2009
Wikipedia is contradicting me.
They say it was after six years, and it was done to make the character stronger. But maybe we’re both right and there was a change after the first season and again after the sixth.

Kendall scored the winning run when KRod didn't catch the throw back from the catcher.
It was amazing.
whiteshoes40 - September 26, 2009
i like it when physioc says on the slegnA telecast
“the A’s find another way to win”
cuppingmaster - September 26, 2009
THAT was another one.....loved to see KRod implode
BERRYJO - September 26, 2009
K-Fraud missed the return throw from the catcher because he tried to do this lame glove flip.
Ball rolled behind him, and Jason Kendall dashed home from third.
danmerqury - September 26, 2009
yeah, that's an awesome game. hilarious
javaball - September 26, 2009
Hahaha.
I’ll never forget that one.
Or the Pennington Baltimore Chop-off.

sf drift king - September 26, 2009
Can we catch the Mariners?
mikeprooo - September 26, 2009
tie them at 82-80
best we could do vs Seattle.
One won lost won - September 26, 2009
you mean the two last place teams...
would be tied with winning records??
mikeprooo - September 26, 2009
That is crazy.
My standards have been so low for the past couple seasons that 75-80 looks really awesome. It’s a little sad. But let’s aim higher! Winning record, maybe?!
whiteshoes40 - September 26, 2009
Ok, be honest
how many of you turned the channel when we were down 9-2?
sf drift king - September 26, 2009
I tuned in after that
javaball - September 26, 2009
Almost....I checked to see what else was coming on....

it’s even sweeter coming against the Angels
Deborah51 - September 26, 2009
Not me....I learned my lesson earlier in the season when we had that one great comeback win
I promised I would not do that again!!!
BERRYJO - September 26, 2009
We haven't lost a series since getting swept in Seattle at the end of August.
Fantastic.
danmerqury - September 26, 2009
Of which I had the luck to see the first game
At least I had the luck to be at the 2000 hit Ichiro game where the A’s won. Made up for that. (Although I’ll admit, the seats I was at Safeco were much nicer.)
pookeyguru - September 26, 2009
Houston takes a-29-28 lead over Texas Tech with :49 left
ohtobe21likehuston - September 26, 2009

I’m using that word from now on.
danmerqury - September 26, 2009

BERRYJO - September 26, 2009

BERRYJO - September 26, 2009
"ugly-ass ballgame" and such profanities.
ElQuesoCapitan - September 26, 2009
a sampling
Team performance aside
vlad looks like garbage.
does scioscia have the balls to move him?
is tori playing hurt?
does scioscia have the balls to move him or pine him?
that’s what bothers me … until the rangers are 1 behind
cuppingmaster - September 26, 2009
WELL - maybe I'll go take a little peek.....
BERRYJO - September 26, 2009
twss
mikev - September 26, 2009

ElQuesoCapitan - September 26, 2009
Im sure they're crying about...
how they could lose to such a sucky team….TWICE!!….and the umps were out to get them etc…etc…etc…
mikeprooo - September 26, 2009
Me headache.
danmerqury - September 26, 2009
Did the A's change hitting coach mid-season?
How come they started hitting well?
javaball - September 26, 2009
FP is going off on Gibson for being a jerk of an umpire
Deborah51 - September 26, 2009
this win was sweet for so many reasons
but especially after getting jobbed by the umps earlier in the game
sf drift king - September 26, 2009
+1
javaball - September 26, 2009
You sigline reminds me so much of those double-stuff oreo commercials.
ElQuesoCapitan - September 26, 2009
I don't think I've seen those
what’s in them?
javaball - September 26, 2009
