it’s more like what you can live with and what you can’t. not everything’s perfect, but what you both care about is perfect. in other words, settling, but that’s not a word people like to associate with relationships.
i’ll probably go to vegas pretty soon for some fun and gambling (i.e. losing my $) with friends, you only need a couple of days there, anymore and its too much
i started school with a third of my first major done, and one class from sophomore standing. It let me take a semester off to manage a state rep race and finish two majors a semester early.
one’s family. I have a bunch of freaks in my family, and some of them will drive my wife crazy. They drive me crazy, too. But they are who they are and I’m not going to divorce my family.
I just think it’s terribly naive to say “I’m marrying the girl, not her family.”
but been there, done that, friends have, siblings have…living with someone is hard, youcan work at it, i think it’s important to do before marrying anyone
I do think it’s good to look for a certain amount of compatibility before making a commitment, and it’s good to figure out your main relationship issues before making a commitment, too.
But on the flip side, I think there’s a real danger in getting too stuck in the idea of “finding the right one” because it puts you in a mindset where you bail out when things get rough. No matter who you’re with, there’s going to be work to do and there are going to be some incompatibilities. You will need to work those out. And if you are sure enough that you want to be together, you shouldn’t put off the commitment until after the work is done … because the work is never done.
There comes a point where maintaining your “maybe this isn’t the one” psychological escape hatch is no longer helpful.
it just depends on what you’re willing to settle for/with. In some ways, it’s kind of like a lot of people say “f it” I’m done looking and become more amenable to things they might not have been several relationships behind.
For example, must be a baseball fan. But a slegnA fan? Deal-breaker.
it’s more like what you can live with and what you can’t. not everything’s perfect, but what you both care about is perfect. in other words, settling, but that’s not a word people like to associate with relationships.
Ive been with a couple of girls that I would make sacrafices for longterm
but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t be sure before I got hitched and I think having sex with someone, while less important than giving good hugs or being awesome to make out with, is definitely something that you need to test compatibility with. Same goes for living with a person.
It goes both ways, though. There are other things that you and I maybe don’t value so much that others think should be universal. Compliments, for example.
For some people (including me) hugs are essential. For some people (not including me) compliments are essential.
For some people giving hugs comes naturally and goes without saying. For some people giving compliments comes naturally and goes without saying.
You can’t assume that your natural way of expressing love is what the other person needs, and you can’t assume that what you need is how the other person will naturally express her love. That’s the part I learned too late.
LOL..cool..well I will be there in 127 and I am thinking of going over to the Holiday Inn after the game for the Extra Innings show and Kurt Suzuki..if anyone is gonna go I think it would be fun!!
I am thinking of going over to the Holiday Inn Radio after the game for the Extra Innings show and Kurt Suzuki.. beer and liquor, if anyone is gonna go I think it would be fun!! will be bleak
That was some serious stinkeroo by the Royals — brain farting Rshai to 3rd, who then scores. Then getting a bases loaded comebacker and — instead of throwing to home, throwing it into the outfield, allowing 2 As runs.

And if you are sure enough that you want to be together, you shouldn’t put off the commitment until after the work is done … because the work is never done.
There comes a point where maintaining your “maybe this isn’t the one” psychological escape hatch is no longer helpful.
iglew - August 31, 2009
I think everyone settles to some extent
it just depends on what you’re willing to settle for/with. In some ways, it’s kind of like a lot of people say “f it” I’m done looking and become more amenable to things they might not have been several relationships behind.
For example, must be a baseball fan. But a slegnA fan? Deal-breaker.
cuppingmaster - August 31, 2009
cool
OakA'sHoney - August 31, 2009
I agree except for the word
“settle”. If you think of it as settling your head is still in the wrong place.
iglew - August 31, 2009
So true.
speckops - August 31, 2009
it's not REALLY settle
it’s more like what you can live with and what you can’t. not everything’s perfect, but what you both care about is perfect. in other words, settling, but that’s not a word people like to associate with relationships.
cuppingmaster - August 31, 2009
Ive been with a couple of girls that I would make sacrafices for longterm
but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t be sure before I got hitched and I think having sex with someone, while less important than giving good hugs or being awesome to make out with, is definitely something that you need to test compatibility with. Same goes for living with a person.
designatedforassignment - August 31, 2009
Strangely, hugs aren't important
to everyone. I learned this too late.
iglew - August 31, 2009
Well the should be!
designatedforassignment - August 31, 2009
How it is and how it should be
aren’t the same.
It goes both ways, though. There are other things that you and I maybe don’t value so much that others think should be universal. Compliments, for example.
iglew - August 31, 2009
are you saying that i don't like compliments?
designatedforassignment - August 31, 2009
Just a guess. Maybe I missed.
That’s the part I learned too late.
iglew - August 31, 2009
Im oblivious about a lot of things that annoys people
so ill take it to mean one of those things

BleedGreen - August 31, 2009
I <3 fish
and if you have a salt water tank you definitely commit more than the 3k youre going to spend on it.
designatedforassignment - August 31, 2009
Yeah...
pretty much!! ;)
BleedGreen - August 31, 2009
BINGO
designatedforassignment - August 31, 2009
I think we would be compatible if we felt the same way about each other.

deciding that it’s right even if it’s wrong. Not looking carefully to find what’s right.

Good night, dear friends.
Final game ticket post tomorrow. Love ya!
lynnzgal - August 31, 2009
Just left the ballpark -- on BART
That was some serious stinkeroo by the Royals — brain farting Rshai to 3rd, who then scores. Then getting a bases loaded comebacker and — instead of throwing to home, throwing it into the outfield, allowing 2 As runs.
OaklandSi - August 31, 2009 via mobile
a win is a win, no matter how stinky the other team is
cuppingmaster - August 31, 2009
Gibbons is really happy
that it’s only his team for a few games.
BleedGreen - August 31, 2009
of course. a win is a win.
and a loss is a loss.
But it’s been a while since I saw live such atrociously boneheaded plays by the opposition leading to A’s runs.
