I posted this at the very end of the last thread where nobody will see it, so I'm posting it again here:
For the first time all season, I feel like Cahill has made progress.
He’s throwing more strikes, he’s throwing his changeup much more often, and much more often for a strike, and he’s getting more swinging strikes. His strikeout rates are still low, but the groundball rates have gone way up, and if he keeps it up, the strikeouts will rise too.
He still needs to work on either his slider or his curveball if he wants to realize his potential, but for the first time all year, I really feel like he’s getting close to being ready to pitch in the majors.
my buddy had drinks with my at Momo’s 3 starts ago and I texted him to tell Trevor to get his release point consistent. He was giving up HR’s on good pitches b/c he was tipping them w/ his release point. Since then he’s had 3 god starts and hasn’t given up a tater.
He’s just graduated, so it’s kind of a perfect time to change his life, get a job or go to school, and leave behind the friends he had that got him into it.
Susan Slusser has this little bit on Doolittle and Carter
There’s been a lot of focus on Chris Carter the past few days, and he might not even be the best player at first base in the A’s minor-league systems. Many scouts who have seen Carter and Sean Doolittle believe Doolittle to be the better prospect. It’s a shame Doolittle missed most of the year with knee injuries; the team would like him to play winter ball. Carter’s future is probably in the outfield. Scouts have mixed reviews on his performance there but Geren said that he’s heard Carter likened to Jermaine Dye because of his size and his running ability.
is that the Halos, whilst a good club with a great attitude towards the game and maybe the definitively aggressive approach in MLB, have peaked too early and will not win the ring this time.
A note on Bailey -- he's had a knee problem for a while apparently
It doesn’t seem to bother him much when he pitches, but did when he had to pounce off the mound. It’s not a new injury, though; he’s been icing it heavily in the clubhouse recently.
That's way cool.

Hell, he is pitching in the majors, and doing pretty well.

BERRYJO - August 27, 2009

ElQuesoCapitan - August 27, 2009
A note on Bailey -- he's had a knee problem for a while apparently
It doesn’t seem to bother him much when he pitches, but did when he had to pounce off the mound. It’s not a new injury, though; he’s been icing it heavily in the clubhouse recently.
Nico - August 27, 2009
braden's had a foot infection and he's fi....oops, nevermind
Deborah51 - August 27, 2009
Nick Green, gangrene, who can tell the difference?

SWEENEY BEST A'S HITTER THIS YEAR
With a minimum of 100 games played, Ryan Sweeney is the A’s BEST HITTER for 2009. He is the future captain of our team- period.

"past performance is an indicator of future performance"
…or not (Sweeney excepted tonight).
Congrats to Cahill for a dominating performance.
Congrats also to the A’s offense for getting to Santana just enough to win….actually, pretty much to Sweeney.
Great moments: throwing Chone out on the basepaths…Bailey vs. the top of the slegnA order in the ninth.
It’s always extra sweet to beat them…
