"If you would like to continue your elite Brett Anderson pitching service
please enter your credit card information. You will be charged $9.95 per month. Should you wish to continue to change to free, non-elite service you may continue to watch but his ERA will go up by 1.5."
Yeah, I started thinking that in Cahill's last start
His velocity has really been down. There’s a little extra risk with Cahill because his mechanics are inconsistent, and he could end up strong but wild with an extra day of rest. But the team needs to control his IP anyway. In fact, it might not be a bad idea just to skip his turn in the rotation once so he can get a real rest.
Quick SB story I heard about the Yankee-Jays game today
Evidently, Jeter got himself thrown out trying to steal 3rd with no one out in the 1st (Yankees ended up losing by 1 — awwww!!). He argued the call, as did Girardi, who got tossed. Both of them claimed that the ump told Jeter, “The throw beat you.” Which isn’t really the point, is it?
Whether it’s a middle infielder turning a double play and not stepping on a base, or a catcher tagging a guy at home. If the ball beats the runner the call is always out unless the ball is dropped.
I hope those watching caught a glimpse of Russ Springer,
in from the bullpen, rushing past the line of A’s to get a high five in to Anderson ASAP. He seems like the kind of guy whose value to the team may not be measured by his own pitching line (thankfully), but by what guys like Braden and Anderson say about him after this year.

Yup
Is he really gonna be that much better than say a Demel anyways?
travdog6 - July 6, 2009
His best case scenario, IMO, is a Andrew Bailey type
Elite reliever. Nothing against Bailey, but in that scenario, Bard = C+ level SP prospect in terms of value.

ok
so there’s a possibility that he’s just really upset that Buck is being sent back to Sac.

robbo650 - July 6, 2009
Quick SB story I heard about the Yankee-Jays game today
Evidently, Jeter got himself thrown out trying to steal 3rd with no one out in the 1st (Yankees ended up losing by 1 — awwww!!). He argued the call, as did Girardi, who got tossed. Both of them claimed that the ump told Jeter, “The throw beat you.” Which isn’t really the point, is it?
Nick - July 6, 2009
That tends to be the trend in the majors.
Whether it’s a middle infielder turning a double play and not stepping on a base, or a catcher tagging a guy at home. If the ball beats the runner the call is always out unless the ball is dropped.
KMoAsFan - July 6, 2009
The "in the vicinity" rule for DPs at least exists to prevent injuries
If you let baserunners barrel into 2Bs, it’s okay to let 2Bs get the out without standing there like a bowling pin.
Nick - July 6, 2009
I saw the play, and I wasn't as convinced as the ppl on ESPN that he missed the tag. It was VERY close, but its not like the tag missed by ten feet.
Although that explanation by the Ump is pretty weak, if the ump saw a missed tag he should have called him safe.
winchester5 - July 6, 2009
Yeah, both Jeter and Girardi were whining about it after the game
Honestly, guys, you’re the f**king Yankees. So you didn’t get one call. Shut up and deal with it.

Exactly.

robbo650 - July 6, 2009
A timely one that was
Couldn’t he save that for tomorrow?
eastcoasta'sfan - July 6, 2009
O-Cab homer AGAIN?
We’re in bizarro world.
iglew - July 6, 2009
yeah! Even MATT HOLLIDAY is hitting!
pam5981 - July 6, 2009
last I checked, better than ANYBODY ELSE on the A's!
mikev - July 6, 2009
heh, that was pleasing
ak_A - July 6, 2009
He can hit one EVERYDAY as far as I am concerned!
BERRYJO - July 6, 2009
Sell high! sell high!
iglew - July 6, 2009
No kidding!!! I'd love to see him go - somewhere - anywhere!
BERRYJO - July 6, 2009
Hitting the AAA sign
Looks like the A’s won some Insurance…
Hit4TheCycle - July 6, 2009
What is O-Cab over the green monster for $1,000?
The answer is, another unlikely thing that happened tonight.
worldblee - July 6, 2009
Stop scoring guys.
How many times do we have to watch the offensive outburst one night followed by 2 hits and 0 runs the following day.
KMoAsFan - July 6, 2009
So does OCab actually get AAA membership for life?
GreenNGoldSooner - July 6, 2009
Yes please.
Blicks - July 6, 2009
if croz gets a hit....then hey, the whole night is a fluke
ak_A - July 6, 2009
oh no
ak_A - July 6, 2009
FLUKE FLUKE~~
BERRYJO - July 6, 2009
NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Blicks - July 6, 2009

BERRYJO - July 6, 2009
Funny, when I google "whale tail" I get something else....
iglew - July 6, 2009
That's actually a picture of Brett Wallace
Nick - July 6, 2009
GreenNGoldSooner - July 6, 2009

winchester5 - July 6, 2009
Gack!
Save us, LB!
iglew - July 6, 2009
It's Flukeman. The official mascot of Today's Oakland A's!
GreenNGoldSooner - July 6, 2009
And a freak of the week villain on the X-Files.
winchester5 - July 6, 2009
WOW!
Ocab homers, then cros actually gets a hit.
eastcoasta'sfan - July 6, 2009
Suzuki will get a shot here.
Rated-R Superstar - July 6, 2009
Wait Crosby too?!
whiteshoes40 - July 6, 2009
DUDE Twilight zone
robbo650 - July 6, 2009
hey no bullpen activity allowed
whiteshoes40 - July 6, 2009
It's OCab's fault for extending the inning too long.
iglew - July 6, 2009
OCab looks as surprised as anyone!
GreenNGoldSooner - July 6, 2009
LOL @ KK's optimism
Back to back solid performances and you wonders if the A’s can still put it together this year.
That’s real optimistic there Ken. The A’s will try to ruin your optimism by pitching Eveland tomorrow. THUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Trainman - July 6, 2009
All they have to do is sweep the divisional games against the Rangers and LAAAAAs...
KMoAsFan - July 6, 2009
That would be nice
I am rooting for nothing but misery for the slegnA.
A slegnA fan was on my cell phone when I had my accident on Friday so I better be careful though. He was the cause of my accident.
Trainman - July 6, 2009
How're the ribs today?
BERRYJO - July 6, 2009
Today is the exact opposite of what the entire season has been.
winchester5 - July 6, 2009
My highpoint of last year was Duchschererer's one hit outing against the Red Sox
this is my highlight of this year so far.
So much the sweeter it’s against the Red Sox
bobnothing - July 6, 2009
game aint over
robbo650 - July 6, 2009
The 2nd game against the Angels sticks out to me, but then again I had hope for the team back then so...
Tonight is a great one. and Brett is back out there!
winchester5 - July 6, 2009
Theres still time for the bullpen to give up 3 or 4 runs to make it interesting.
KMoAsFan - July 6, 2009
Woo! Let's go Brett!
whiteshoes40 - July 6, 2009
I'm cool with it either way, Anderson or Ziggy
As long as Anderson doesn’t go over, say, 115 pitches.
Nico - July 6, 2009
I honestly want Anderson to go for the CGSO
If he gets RISP, then pull him.
Blicks - July 6, 2009
See Red Sux fans, this is exactly what you WISH Buchholz and Bowden are
Too bad they can’t, which is because they suck. So ha ha ha.
Blicks - July 6, 2009
didnt bucchohlt throw a no no or sumn last year?
robbo650 - July 6, 2009
It was 2 years ago.
He’s sucked ever since.
Blicks - July 6, 2009
sub 1 ERA in AAA
buchholz ain’t sucking right now. he’s generally considered one of the best pitching prospects out there.
eastcoasta'sfan - July 6, 2009
Yeah Brett!
pam5981 - July 6, 2009
Let's go Brett.
Please don’t walk the lead off guy.
KMoAsFan - July 6, 2009
Oh wow. Philly's scored 18 runs
Blicks - July 6, 2009
Watch out
The bullpen can give up 19
Hit4TheCycle - July 6, 2009
10 in the first
Nick - July 6, 2009
22 now.
Blicks - July 6, 2009
Rollins certainly seems to be regressing (or, I suppose. progressing) to the mean
Nick - July 6, 2009
Hamels is 2-4
with a double. ouch.
SamYam - July 6, 2009
1 out!
whiteshoes40 - July 6, 2009
I'm a bit nervous about that high pitch count
closetasfan - July 6, 2009
Are the Red Sox fans booing their team?
Their leading the division team?
real classy.
BEST FANS IN BASEBALL
bobnothing - July 6, 2009

Anything to make the Sux suck.

yumm!
lynnzgal - July 6, 2009
Great job Neo
Congats on the CG SO!
adragon - July 6, 2009
I hope those watching caught a glimpse of Russ Springer,
in from the bullpen, rushing past the line of A’s to get a high five in to Anderson ASAP. He seems like the kind of guy whose value to the team may not be measured by his own pitching line (thankfully), but by what guys like Braden and Anderson say about him after this year.
Good dog.
Nico - July 6, 2009
Yeah, I noticed that, too
Nick - July 6, 2009
It was awesome
whiteshoes40 - July 6, 2009
GreenNGoldSooner - July 6, 2009
I read some where that some of the young SP's give him alot of credit
in a father figure role.
adragon - July 6, 2009
He tells them they'll never amount to anything and that they can't borrow the car?
Nico - July 6, 2009
some issues you need to get off your chest there?
eastcoasta'sfan - July 6, 2009
lolz
Technotofu - July 6, 2009
I'm not sure being a nice guy and high fiving is enough, myself
I’d rather he got a few more strickouts
bobnothing - July 6, 2009
VICTORIOUS ANDERSON!!!!
Nick - July 6, 2009
This picture just scares me.....LOL
BERRYJO - July 6, 2009
Congrats Brett!!!
Great game. Can he start every night?
chillicothe20 - July 6, 2009
I just checked with Billy Martin and he said "Yeah."
Nico - July 6, 2009
Glen's understatement of the year:
“We announce a lot of games, and some games aren’t that much fun…”
whiteshoes40 - July 6, 2009
by the way
the MLB.com KTRB feed is really loud tonight
OaklandSi - July 6, 2009
Evidently, they're a 50,000 watt juggernaut
Nick - July 6, 2009
So they're outsourcing the broadcast?
GreenNGoldSooner - July 6, 2009
But the ads were still louder than the broadcast.
I hate that.
iglew - July 6, 2009
Did it cause you to trip and spill your beer?
Nico - July 6, 2009
It causes me to hit the mute button
and sometimes miss the first pitch of the next inning.
iglew - July 6, 2009
i did NOT spill my draft beer!
SamYam - July 6, 2009
Where the hell is Brett Anderson's shaving cream pie?
vegAN ryAN - July 6, 2009
Dallas isn't there. Too bad.
whiteshoes40 - July 6, 2009
Aw. Someone should step up.
pam5981 - July 6, 2009
I feel bad for Pepe
Nick - July 6, 2009
Just think good thoughts for whatever the situation is for him and his quick return.
BERRYJO - July 6, 2009
Hope it's not his mom -- he was raised by her, sans dad.
Technotofu - July 6, 2009
Braden's not with the team today.
BERRYJO - July 6, 2009
don't blind him!
micdog2001 - July 6, 2009
Stupid work getting in the way of the best pitching performance of the year!
I missed it!!!!
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate Mondays
