The battle for the 2nd pick in the draft continues, as the A's, Indians, Royals, and Diamondbacks all compete for the honor of "well at least we're not the Nationals!" Vin Mazzaro goes for the A's tonight, hoping to delay the fireworks until after the game, opposed by Carl Pavano.
Travis Buck sighting!!! And Orlando Cabrera is proof that you don't need a .300 OBP to bat 2nd in the order. Then again, a .200 batting average gets you the 4-spot, so...Go A's!

Rated-R Superstar - July 4, 2009
are you sure it's not the same one?
VV A's fan - July 4, 2009
They usually rotate.
In a series, it’s the same team, but they change positions.
iglew - July 4, 2009
Just checked, now we'll get bad calls at 3b instead of balls/strikes.
VV A's fan - July 4, 2009
are you saying dimuro was a little inconsistent last night??

So far, so good
but that’s what I said this time yesterday
SwisherThresher - July 4, 2009
That's why Cabrera should bat second if he's going to
sniff the top of the order. He can get the man over.

pam5981 - July 4, 2009
Question about Choo
He’s sporting a .400 OBP, 13 for 13 stealing, on pace for 20 HRs. Is this his true ability? Seems like more than he was projected to provide, but is pretty consistent with what he showed in 2007-08. What’s the good word on the Choomeister?
Nico - July 4, 2009
And Giambi bounces his 45,123,443rd ball into the shift
for the routine out
Trainman - July 4, 2009
You're killin' me Smalls
SwisherThresher - July 4, 2009

Englishmajor - July 4, 2009
All Star
Kurt just showed everyone why he should be our All Star with that stop at home.
Jpwest76 - July 4, 2009
Francisco basically walked to third base there.
Rated-R Superstar - July 4, 2009
yup
Deborah51 - July 4, 2009
Zooks has really improved in that regard
He now takes the throw deep enough and blocks the plate — this time on his knees instead of with his whole leg. Very well done.
Nico - July 4, 2009
Ok- time to hit some balls where there are no mitts present.
brian.only - July 4, 2009

cyke17 - July 4, 2009
i think sweeney and holliday need to communicate a little better
Deborah51 - July 4, 2009
Like Cust-Kennedy communicate?
iglew - July 4, 2009
hopefully, better than that
Deborah51 - July 4, 2009
Please get a hit BEFORE the 9th inning guys.
brian.only - July 4, 2009
They already did.
The new plan is to only hit in the first two innings.

VV A's fan - July 4, 2009

VV A's fan - July 4, 2009
What a shock
I had to lie down because my shoulder is killing me and I decided to do so it when we went down 3-1. I come back felling a little better and see that the score is still a 2 run differential.
This team is like the ligaments in my shoulder at the moment. Fucked. I am hoping the ligaments heal in time unlike this team’s short term prognosis.
Trainman - July 4, 2009
Sucks man. Is there anything you can do for that asides from rest up?
brian.only - July 4, 2009
Complain about Hannahan?
I’ve heard it’s very therapeutic.
Nico - July 4, 2009
No
That makes me take more medication
Trainman - July 4, 2009
Nope
I guess the pain is not too bad. I woke up this morning and I actually felt a little better than yesterday when I had the accident. The rib is not bothering me that much even though it is broken. It clicks a little when I do my shoelaces up.
The shoulder, if I move it the wrong way it hurts a little but more clicking noises like tendons or ligaments making contact with bones. They told me there was no damage to the bones so I guess I have to wait for the ligaments to heal. Right now or as of yesterday when it happened, I cannot put my arm out to the side without it going weak and feeling like it wants to dislocate itself. It does not hurt but just has that weird going out of joint feeling. They told me I did not dislocate it so I have to be patient. The only time it hurts is if I move it the wrong way. I figure if the ligaments were that badly sprained, it would hurt more so I am really hoping it will get better with lots of rest.
I am prepared to wait but I want to be able to work out eventually and they did tell me the ligaments would fix themselves and everything should tighten up again.
Trainman - July 4, 2009
Rest up, Eric
We need you next April. In fact, we’re counting on you.
