I think it happened on this site. I’m almost positive it wasn’t Braden.
walk off bunt - July 23, 2009
The other night
The winning game handshake, most of the squad called him zook. Curious when on the etymology on this nickname
hishnik - July 23, 2009
Lotta baseball players
Will call their teammates based on something with their last name. McGwire was called Mac by a lot of teammates, I’m sure.
Probably just one of those things that happened organically. When a nickname is just derived from the actual name, there’s usually not too much to it.

This is the New Russia...
The cheap seats cost $1,000. And they go up from there.
And the only music they play on the P.A. system is this.
GreenNGoldSooner - July 23, 2009
Nope
folks get seats according to their needs….
and it just so happens that the politburo needs to use the seats to insure quality.
(oh wait, that’s Shoreline amphitheater in Mountain View where the city council gets free seats. Sorry.)

Why doesn't the bay area media call out Geren and Beane?
I mean Geren has no clue when to take out a pitcher who is struggling and usually waits for far too long and by that time the damage is done. ohtobe21likehuston - July 23, 2009

We’re the Mets/White Sox of the Bay Area.
Leopold Bloom - July 23, 2009
That's, of course, true.
This year, however, an actually neutral observer would find the Giants the more interesting team.
