So not only is he hitting quite well and makes plays with his speed (both
good and bad, but at least they’re exciting) but he’s rocking AWESOME socks. He’s meeting the AN criteria of sockness – there’s still room on the bandwagon y’know.
An average hitting catcher who plays above average defense is essentially an all-star, since they’re so rare. That’s more or less what Suzuki is, only nobody outside Oakland knows it or gives him any credit for it. He’s quickly becoming the new Mark Ellis.
Though it is a still photo, perhaps it limps when it walks. Plus we wouldn’t stretch to glue, it’d be double sided sticky tape keeping that corn in place.
O-cab and the Misses enjoy quaint living in Alameda. They probably have some low-key victorian they enjoy. In a way I miss the Byrnes whimsical statements about living near Half-Moon-Bay
He’s an exceptional baseball player. Overrated, yes, but you can’t fault him for playing in a big market – it’s not his fault he gets hyped to the moon just because he plays for a media darling.
but….he’s negative win share. Has been his whole career. He’s not that exceptional. In addition, he’s essentially cock-blocked the best SS of the last fifty years from playing his natural position, sheerly out of ego.
Roomy

in an M. Night Shamaylan way
or a Terry Gilliam way?
Leopold Bloom - July 23, 2009
they aught not be mentioned in the same sentance.
brian.only - July 23, 2009
I agree.
But I’d wager there are people on both sides of that who feel the same way…
Leopold Bloom - July 23, 2009
Why not? They're both film directors that have made both good and shockingly bad films.
OldhamA - July 23, 2009
I'll give him The Village-
but every thing else I’ve seen felt like I just wasted my life a little.
brian.only - July 23, 2009
Sixth Sense was awesome, man.
Leopold Bloom - July 23, 2009
That was him? okay I retract that last statement.
brian.only - July 23, 2009
Unbreakable is ok too.
Of course Gilliam has t’Holy Grail to fall back on so he’s golden no matter what he produces.
OldhamA - July 23, 2009
I did not like unbreakable
I actually liked Lady In the Water better.
micdog2001 - July 23, 2009
In a Freddy Kruger kind of way
sirbed - July 23, 2009
oooo.
the MGD guy’s gutting you?
Leopold Bloom - July 23, 2009
My ears and my patience
sirbed - July 23, 2009
Steroids dont make great athletes?

robbo650 - July 23, 2009

Leopold Bloom - July 23, 2009
Messed around and got a triple double
I’d just be happy for some 2 out doubles.
BleedGreen - July 23, 2009
There's your double, but probably not what you wanted...
Leopold Bloom - July 23, 2009
Make mine a double
I missed it what happened?
BleedGreen - July 23, 2009

Leopold Bloom - July 23, 2009

Not wasting time tonight
Orodawg - July 23, 2009
Cabrera's noticed the trading deadline is coming up so he's
put his arse into gear.
OldhamA - July 23, 2009
Cabrera
Keeps telling the press box he loves living in Alameda, and he hopes to stick around the area.
hishnik - July 23, 2009
theres something wrong with that guy
who loves Alameda?
BleedGreen - July 23, 2009
Alameda can be pretty awesome.
Leopold Bloom - July 23, 2009
yes
OakA'sHoney - July 23, 2009
meh
BleedGreen - July 23, 2009
where 'd you come from?
Leopold Bloom - July 23, 2009
I fell in love with a woman there
Janet Wright, god she was/is beautiful.
I like Alameda, pretty trees.
paradox - July 23, 2009
it's got a real different feel to it, for sure.
Leopold Bloom - July 23, 2009
Thats my Moms name
Daddy??JK
robbo650 - July 23, 2009
^^ chuckles ^^ It's a common name, son
She grew up in Pleasanton, last I heard five years ago she was in Livermore. I hope she’s all right, Lord yes.
paradox - July 23, 2009
I think its cool
O-cab and the Misses enjoy quaint living in Alameda. They probably have some low-key victorian they enjoy. In a way I miss the Byrnes whimsical statements about living near Half-Moon-Bay
hishnik - July 23, 2009
nice looking swing by ocab
eastcoasta'sfan - July 23, 2009

BleedGreen - July 23, 2009
come on, Hairston.
winchester5 - July 23, 2009
He's an A for sure now
DP
Orodawg - July 23, 2009
Hairston is so fit.
He looks a lot skinnier/more muscular than the other guys when he’s at the plate. …Maybe it’s just because he doesn’t wear a super-baggy uniform…
whiteshoes40 - July 23, 2009
If you can find the rookie hazing pictures they're all pretty fit.
It’s the uniform.
OldhamA - July 23, 2009
ack
ak_A - July 23, 2009
Sigh
I keep trying to use c-z-x on other websites.

hahahaha
Jpwest76 - July 23, 2009
That was an amazing read off the wall by Holliday.
winchester5 - July 23, 2009
What the world is wrong with this ballpark?
That looked like a super shallow foul ball.
But whatever — nice play, Holliday!
whiteshoes40 - July 23, 2009
Holliday
Beast
Orodawg - July 23, 2009
Gunned him down.
TRADE VALUE
ElQuesoCapitan - July 23, 2009

winchester5 - July 23, 2009
Where has this Holliday been?
sirbed - July 23, 2009
Trade deadline.
OldhamA - July 23, 2009
I just see him as a big upward rising arrow.
But, to be fair, that’s how my ex-wife saw me.
Leopold Bloom - July 23, 2009
did she quiver when you first said hello to her?
ak_A - July 23, 2009
she did, but that's only because I was right on target.
Leopold Bloom - July 23, 2009
probably went and saw Fletch at the theatre?
ak_A - July 23, 2009
Vin is awesome.

ak_A - July 23, 2009
mazzaro

closetasfan - July 23, 2009
I started reading Charlie O and the Angry A's today.
I just want to say one thing. Charlie O. Finley was a real jerkface.
LoneStranger - July 23, 2009
I agree,
but wish 67M were here to give it the proper stamp.
Leopold Bloom - July 23, 2009
Great book.
And yes he was.
67MARQUEZ - July 23, 2009

Leopold Bloom - July 23, 2009
New thread, Bloomy.
67MARQUEZ - July 23, 2009
wha...?
Leopold Bloom - July 23, 2009
It's true.
67MARQUEZ - July 23, 2009
Did you know that Derek Jeter is the greatest player ever
and the greatest human ever born here on Earth it’s true because a Yankee fan told me so.
sirbed - July 23, 2009
I've never understood the hate for Jeter.
He’s an exceptional baseball player. Overrated, yes, but you can’t fault him for playing in a big market – it’s not his fault he gets hyped to the moon just because he plays for a media darling.
OldhamA - July 23, 2009
He's the most overrated player in my lifetime
sirbed - July 23, 2009
I Dont know
he is pretty clutch in the playoffs……
hishnik - July 23, 2009
I hate all those opposite field HR's that go 314 ft
micdog2001 - July 23, 2009
I'm not a numbers guy,
but….he’s negative win share. Has been his whole career. He’s not that exceptional. In addition, he’s essentially cock-blocked the best SS of the last fifty years from playing his natural position, sheerly out of ego.
Leopold Bloom - July 23, 2009
Defensively yes, but he's ridiculously good with the bat for his position.
He’s ridiculously good with the bat full stop.
OldhamA - July 23, 2009
+1000000000000
sirbed - July 23, 2009
