We were down 11-2, or whatever crappy score that was, and then I watched a movie. The movie was over about 10 minutes ago, at which point I checked the game. And we’re ahead.
I don’t know what to make of this.
…although it looks like Gilmore Girls had something to do with the rally. I’m okay with that.
Sweeney didn’t know where the ball went was charging to second base. By the time he figured it out and raced back to first, he was thrown out easily. Double play.
And then Kennedy followed with a double that would have scored Sweeney if he hadn’t been doubled up.
they don’t really care. In their top ten plays the Yanks walk-of was number 1. They showed a twins defensive highlight and then casually mentioned the A’s won 14-13. idots.
No, actually, wild pitch by Wuertz, Zooks had trouble finding the ball, Cuddyer tried to score from 2B, close play at the plate, ump blew the call sky-high (he was safe, called out).
I was not an A’s faithful today…..I left in disgust when the score seemed insurmountable. What a fool I was…..OMG – so glad I tuned back in JUST in time! I missed a good one!
At one point they only had a 2% chance of winning. I’m sure there were very few fans (if any) that thought THIS team would register the greatest comeback in Oakland A’s history
Guys were getting back in it before the slam….they had hope….Holliday, biggest homerun they’ve had for the team. Good to do it for the fans…. didn’t see the call. Gio didn’t pitch where he wanted to, they didn’t miss.
in my fantasy league, 22 pts. ouch!! But I pulled it off with Cuddyer,Kennedy,Longoria,Konerko, and a few others chipped in… That’s what it took to beat his night… WOW
My opponent has Justin Morneau on his team. It is a weekly matchup though so I won’ know how much it hurts until Monday. On the plus side he/she does hate Nick Blackburn on his squad too.
maybe it’s me trying to reconcile this, but it kind of looks like cuddyer’s right leg went over the plate before his left leg touched, and wuertz tagged his right leg a hair before
Against the Yanks in ’98. Howe left him out to slaughter while the announcers did everything but call the dugout to give him the hook. Tied the record I believe.
Beane says Barton will hold 1st base if he produces
“Given that (Barton) is in there and given that he’s a guy who we think could or should be part of our future, he’ll get every chance to play first,” Beane said. “He’ll hold on to the job if he’s able to produce.”
MOJO!

Nate - July 20, 2009
East Bay
I usually have it at Catos or Ben and Nicks.

Best places in the East Bay
are Ledger’s Liquors in Berkeley on University and Monument Liquor in Concord.
Nate - July 20, 2009
Cool
I’ll check those.
BleedGreen - July 20, 2009
Last time I went to Ledger's

There was a great bit on the A's game.
They had a good lengthy summary, separate from the top 10 highlights. Totally respectable.
As for those top ten, Punto’s play earned its place. That was a great play. Matsui walk-off was stupid for #1 though.

ElQuesoCapitan - July 20, 2009
It's sad that he's obviously starting to pick it up a bit
and he’ll probably start getting hot when he gets traded and completely help some team be awesome
thesteve9x - July 20, 2009
Oh and almost guaranteed we're gonna get busts on our end of the deal.
ElQuesoCapitan - July 20, 2009
Dunno
I think he raised his trade value though
Orodawg - July 20, 2009

ElQuesoCapitan - July 20, 2009

I remember it..

One won lost won - July 20, 2009
Bad call at the end
But the Twins deserve no pity. You blow a 10-run lead to the A’s this year, you don’t deserve any help from the umpires.
bear88 - July 20, 2009
Well Put
No excuses can be made for letting this squad set a franchise record for largest come-from-behind win!
GreenNGoldSooner - July 20, 2009
Day = made.
ElQuesoCapitan - July 20, 2009
's Truth
Any time you lose a game on a bad call, it just means it’s up to you make sure it never gets close enough that a bad call could make the difference.
iglew - July 20, 2009
It's just cashing in the chips from when they got bad calls to end games.
LoneStranger - July 20, 2009
Two things stood out to me on that last play:
1. Wuertz had forever to position himself, and still stayed to the 1B side (which is why Cuddyer was safe).
2. Suzuki was unbelievably calm making the throw — if anything, didn’t throw it hard enough.
Oh and the fact that the call sucked kind of stood out too.
Nico - July 20, 2009
22 hits
with ZERO strickouts tonight for Oakland. Amazing.

Turning point?
If any game could be a turning point for the A’s seemingly nonchalant play this year, its this one

I listened to the recap of the radio game, and Vince did a decent call on the homeruns.

mrbendy - July 20, 2009
You shouldn't feel awful for doubting
At one point they only had a 2% chance of winning. I’m sure there were very few fans (if any) that thought THIS team would register the greatest comeback in Oakland A’s history
