The A's scratched out a 1-0 lead after a double by Holliday and a sac fly by Suzuki, but they finally got a really big hit; a 3-run homerun by Giambi. We are heading to the eighth inning; Anderson has pitched all seven so far.
Cotroneo just said that the Rangers just DFA’d Vicente Padilla for throwing at guys & exposing his teammates to the retaliatory beanballs from the other team, which they HATED, apparently. He is saying the last time he did it Wash made him apologize to the team, and when he did it again they released his ass, whoa!!!
will make the others a little more competitive with each other. ie. Outman last night. If these guys know that they are going to be in the rotation for a while, good things will continue.
I might just be excited because of this series, but seriously, you got to hold onto some hope :)
of course, I AM getting excited. But keep in mind that chicago has scored a grand total of 4 more runs than the A’s so far this year (and has played one more game).
if our staff went up against our offense and threw zeroes, how excited would you be?
Is it just me or our these guys starting to remind you of the big three.
They are feeding off each other and trying to be better than the last guy. The only difference is now all five starters have the ability to throw a CG SO. I can see these boys going on a major roll…
speed up and slow down the action for no apparent reason other than it looks cool. Since Matrix is the movie that started that annoying trend, I assumed I’d hate it.
But recently a good friend, who understands my taste in movies, says that he thinks I’d still enjoy it for the story even in spite of the special effects. So now it’s on my list to watch some day. Not sure when I’ll get around to it, though.
Boy this is what I'd hoped the entire season would look like
1) MAC dominating (props to Anderson today)
2) Holliday so frightening the opponent wants to walk him
3) Giambi mashing 3-run homers, in true Oakland offense fashion.
(Im just ignoring the fact that Kennedy’s at 2nd, Crosby is at 1st, Petit is at 3rd etc).

This is when we run off 21 straight! Break the record! I love opening a beer to listen to Bill King’s “Holy Toledo!” on Hatte’s homer! This current team is waking up! I don’t know why everybody is surprised. Giambi is a notoriously slow starter. GO A’s!
What? We're leading
unpossible
doctorK - June 4, 2009
We're actually pretty good.
67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009

Also, anyone upset about the fact that our young stallion starters are going deeper in the game as of this week? I didn’t think so =)

Mr. Anderson

we need the photo of him in the glasses here
A'sfaninNC - June 4, 2009
I wondered that, too.
But why? Some sort of Matrix reference?
iglew - June 4, 2009
He's slowly figuring out the "Matrix" of the Major Leagues
PortlandPachyderm - June 4, 2009
Um, OK.
That probably would make more sense if I’d actually seen the movie.
iglew - June 4, 2009
Probably :)
PortlandPachyderm - June 4, 2009

But recently a good friend, who understands my taste in movies, says that he thinks I’d still enjoy it for the story even in spite of the special effects. So now it’s on my list to watch some day. Not sure when I’ll get around to it, though.

Oh and slow down effects are awesome – like in Swordfish when the ball bearing bomb goes off and the camera pans 360.
OldhamA - June 4, 2009
PortlandPachyderm - June 4, 2009
Half a second before he strikes out the entire league in one pitch
fruitattack - June 4, 2009

Springer and Cabrera to LAA
for Brandon Wood!!!
The slegnA hate him.

I hope this is the start for Cunningham.
Maybe once Buck comes back they’ll DFA Raj and Keep Aaron as the 4th OF
cityplANner - June 4, 2009
Aaron shouldn't be the 4th OF.
He should be full time somewhere, MLB or AAA. When Buck comes back, one of them goes to AAA.
Or Holliday is traded by then.
Denorfia for 4th OF!!!!
Blicks - June 4, 2009
At this point, I am totally on board with trading Holiday
Pick up a 3B and corner OF that is AAA/MLB ready
RJ2549 - June 4, 2009
We've got plenty of corner OFs.
Cust, Cunningham, Sweeney, and Buck.
We need a true CF, 3B, and SS.
mikev - June 4, 2009
can't both Buck and Cunningham play passable CF in a pinch?
cityplANner - June 4, 2009
Buck - doubt it. Cunningham - in a pinch, yeah.
mikev - June 4, 2009
Cust should never play the field
and Sweeney’s awesome catches have all come in CF
RJ2549 - June 4, 2009
Eh... a couple good catches doesn't make a good CF.
I agree with Nico. Sweeney belongs in RF.

mikev - June 4, 2009
Just don't lift it too high.
We know what you’re not wearing.
ZigFan31 - June 4, 2009
I have no shame.
Besides, the reflection from the jewelry will be too bright to see anything else.
mikev - June 4, 2009
TMI
doctorK - June 4, 2009
As I said

ZigFan31 - June 4, 2009
I'm reasonably sure that I'm supposed to take that as an insult.
mikev - June 4, 2009
It was a very confusing attempt.
pam5981 - June 4, 2009

ZigFan31 - June 4, 2009
Me too.
I mean, besides closing ceremonies for T-ball and the team party.
mikev - June 4, 2009
Nothing like partying it up with a bunch of 6 year olds to remind you of how old you are.
pam5981 - June 4, 2009
mike
I think it is pam who is on a roll, buddy.
67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
You know the best thing about 28 year olds, Pam?
There’s 20 of them.
mikev - June 4, 2009
I'm reasonably sure that I'm supposed to take that as an insult.
But I’m not getting it. I’m just a dumb 28 year old.
pam5981 - June 4, 2009
I'll tell you in person at the next tailgate
I don’t wanna get a CGV.
mikev - June 4, 2009
Thought you were going to Disneyland?
lynnzgal - June 4, 2009
Possibly.
Unless something better comes up.
ZigFan31 - June 4, 2009
I know some dude
Who has tickets on the 4th.

RJ2549 - June 4, 2009
Is that SFW? The URL looks suspicious.
iglew - June 4, 2009
Yes.
That’s why I put SFW in parenthesis.
thesteve9x - June 4, 2009
Oh, duh.
I must have gone blind there.
iglew - June 4, 2009
This article is worthless without pics
doctorK - June 4, 2009

I would’ve become a coffee drinker.
thesteve9x - June 4, 2009
Oh Lord, Casilla is in
At least we have seven runs to work with.
doctorK - June 4, 2009
Actually is a good time
to test the arm out
Porcupine - June 4, 2009
build back some confidence, not wasting garbage innings on already over-taxed relievers
I like it
cityplANner - June 4, 2009
Yes
Is it safe to give Springer an out, too
Porcupine - June 4, 2009
His ERA's only 6.05. We have a chance at winning, don't fret.
spottedstomper - June 4, 2009
I dunno man
They don’t round down the runs, so you’re looking at 7
fruitattack - June 4, 2009
Dude, you're right. I'm really afraid now..I don't want this game to go into extra innings.
spottedstomper - June 4, 2009
No not Gasoline!
why God why
adragon - June 4, 2009
come on Santiagairo Casigarcilla
2 more outs to the 2nd mastepiece shoutout of the week =))))))
emperor nobody - June 4, 2009
Are the Raiders beating the Bears?
Boy Jamarcus lit up the secondary for a single touchdown today.
Hit4TheCycle - June 4, 2009
We should be so lucky.
lynnzgal - June 4, 2009
lol
67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
1 down

Wreckonized - June 4, 2009
Do I smell 2 shutouts in three games?

pam5981 - June 4, 2009
But we really never did stop watching.
67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
We're being rewarded for our loyalty.
Even if we were snarky throughout.
thesteve9x - June 4, 2009
indeed
67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
For me, at least
snark = ♥
pam5981 - June 4, 2009
Exactly.
thesteve9x - June 4, 2009
No but it's not as painful the last few days.
pam5981 - June 4, 2009
Are we talking about my piercing again?

PortlandPachyderm - June 4, 2009
LOL
Wreckonized - June 4, 2009
Why do I feel a seizure coming on?
doctorK - June 4, 2009

PortlandPachyderm - June 4, 2009
YIPPEE
DCinWC - June 4, 2009

whiteshoes40 - June 4, 2009

67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
Hopefully it will be a good luck charm, or something...
whiteshoes40 - June 4, 2009
I'll take it...
67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
NICE

thesteve9x - June 4, 2009
A's Win!

EllisFanatic - June 4, 2009
Game over with a STRICKOUT
And a hearty “go fark yourself” to the Hawk.
doctorK - June 4, 2009
we can win this division
if we play the whitesox all the time
Wreckonized - June 4, 2009
too bad that division is not this division
pam5981 - June 4, 2009
ITS BEAUTIFUL!
A STREAK!
lynnzgal - June 4, 2009
YES!
Oh, I thought you said “streaker”.
But, yes!
67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
Haha!
Is it utterly pathetic that I’m so excited we won three in a row?
lynnzgal - June 4, 2009
not in the least!
67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
Not with this team
adragon - June 4, 2009
(starts to take off clothes and then rereads post)
adragon - June 4, 2009
Keep going!
lynnzgal - June 4, 2009
So when are you going to organize "naked AN day"?
I’ll bet LB would come out for that.
iglew - June 4, 2009
ANked Day?
lynnzgal - June 4, 2009
brilliant!
67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
Do you think we could get BBQ Terrace for that?
mikev - June 4, 2009

67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
you mean that wasnt today?
A'sfaninNC - June 4, 2009

67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
I don't think my coworkers would like that or I would
adragon - June 4, 2009
Such killjoys!
lynnzgal - June 4, 2009
second 3 game win streak
can we keep this alive this time?
Wreckonized - June 4, 2009
The A's won a game yesterday and one today, that's a winning streak
A'sfaninNC - June 4, 2009
Wheres Willy Mays Hayes when you need him?
adragon - June 4, 2009
Isn't that Rajai?
He runs like Hayes but hits like shit.
mikev - June 4, 2009
Its funny that you mention that
go here and be amazed
A'sfaninNC - June 4, 2009
circulating insta-petition
To change the AL West from Angels-Texas-Seattle to Chicago White Sox-Washington Nationals-Toledo Mudhens for the duration of the 2009 season.

Go A’s!!!!
adragon - June 4, 2009

67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
Looking at the box score on Yahoo for this game
I like seeing zeroes.
raider5606 - June 4, 2009
they are fun to look at
nice and round
67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
I am used to seeing them
just in a different row
DCinWC - June 4, 2009
Not at all crooked
lynnzgal - June 4, 2009
I like drawing inside of them
On the days they’re on the correct side of the scoreboard.
67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
Smiley faces?
lynnzgal - June 4, 2009
bingo! :-)
67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
Rally Salma? where?
iglew - June 4, 2009
Love the radio highlight package when it's 100% Athletics highlights
emperor nobody - June 4, 2009
We won?!
I gotta miss more often.
I HATE signs.
Leopold Bloom - June 4, 2009
There were lots of runs (for us)
And much rejoicing.
67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
Nice win!
This is when we run off 21 straight! Break the record! I love opening a beer to listen to Bill King’s “Holy Toledo!” on Hatte’s homer! This current team is waking up! I don’t know why everybody is surprised. Giambi is a notoriously slow starter. GO A’s!
A'sfansince1970 - June 4, 2009
I saw this coming all along
Signed,
Dad
67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
I said it first. See comment #2.
ZigFan31 - June 4, 2009

fruitattack - June 4, 2009
Sigh. I love winning.
pam5981 - June 4, 2009
It is a beautiful thing.
67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
I like it even when I miss the game
I was busy flying back from Chicago after stealing Bobby Crosby’s glove.
worldblee - June 4, 2009
You're the one?
Thing is, no one is even looking for you. Awesome.
67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
LOL!
The perfect crime!
lynnzgal - June 4, 2009
In-deed!
67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
Let's keep this going
Would love for Vin to return the shaving cream favor tomorrow.
67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009

worldblee - June 4, 2009
Hmm. I was out.

ElQuesoCapitan - June 4, 2009

67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
Victory.
I like how you switch up the fireworks pix every day.
pam5981 - June 4, 2009
And they're always beautiful
lynnzgal - June 4, 2009
And by every day, I mean the 21 days we've won a goddamn game since April 6.
pam5981 - June 4, 2009
rare form
67MARQUEZ - June 4, 2009
Never the same fireworks!
ElQuesoCapitan - June 4, 2009
Just Got Back From The Game
How sweet it is!!!!
I have lived in Chicago since 1989 and my streak of never seeing the A’s lose live here is intact. I think it is something like 22-0 now.
KCa's - June 4, 2009
I need to buy you tickets every year.
