me (4:46:24 PM): on a side note, its depressing when you’re down 3-0, the inning leads off with back to back walks
me (4:46:36 PM): and then you’re looking at an upcoming order of daric barton, rajai davis, and jack hannahan.
chris (4:47:01 PM): hahaha
I think that as A's fans we are to passive with this team.
I know there really isnt much a fan can do but, I like it when fans such as cubbie or yankee fans let the players know how bad they are from the stands. Instead of this panzy approach “We will get him next time” O-Cab is horible
or bat 9th. Or both. This leadoff shit needs to stop now. I don’t care if there are secret contract clauses or he’ll throw a hissy-fit or whatever. It. needs. to. STOP.

and I have a feeling that 7-game streak may have been the high point for this team this year…
it just game me false hope. If they wanted to go 7-3, I would’ve preferred them to win 2, lose 1, win 1, lose 1, win 2, lose 1… something more like that. That way, it’s less noticable that they played a great stretch, and I wouldn’t have rejuvinated my hopes for this season.
Games like this make me think the team is still in the race.
They got just enough pitching, a few clutch hits, played some fundamental 9th inning ball, and got contributions from the little guys. I love wins like this.
Not a moment too soon

We are good at that

This game kind of beautifully illustrates
how bad this team is. Maybe “beautifully” isn’t the right word.
“If you’re playing .300 ball on the road, just come to Oakland!”

this game sucks
where’s my wife, I want to go eat lunch.

So you’re a Zombie Omnivore?

You're not a zombie, are you?

Why did I have to just remember there was a game on? Damn memory.

Go back to forgetting. It's easier that way.
PortlandPachyderm - June 11, 2009
I haven't been disappointed yet this thread.
Future Ed - June 11, 2009
My kingdon for a team that can hit.
This is just painful to watch day in and day out.
Syphon - June 11, 2009
As you can see
getting excited about a 7 game winning streak is undone just as quick by multiple game losses in a row
Trainman - June 11, 2009
If Beane cant put together an offense that can hit in the enxt 3 years he should be gone.

pam5981 - June 11, 2009

This Blackburn pitches well but they let him off the hook a few times. I venture to say most other teams would have delivered a knockout punch to him

How many times has Korach said "well hit ball" today?
Not a lot of luck for the A’s today.
DDroney - June 11, 2009
So many line-outs today. Line drives, but right at the OFers
The baseball gods hate us. Punishment for signing ex-slegnA’s?

cityplANner - June 11, 2009

67MARQUEZ - June 11, 2009
Offense is listless today
We’d better at least hit against the NL West.
(That may give us a true measure of our offensive suckitude).
PortlandPachyderm - June 11, 2009
The A's win when I go to games in Southern Cal
Lost count but I think it’s like 10 in a row they have won over last 3 or 4 years
I am going on Thursday if Mazzaro is pitching. I think Randy Wolfe lines up and Wolf is a gascan.
I don’t go very often but they will win when I go
Trainman - June 11, 2009
You know we are all gonna hold you to that
right??
swishergirl510 - June 11, 2009

No problem
They will be hitting .180 as a team for the month by then so I have no choice to go if I want them to win

It was great to see them show us how talented they are
I don’t regret a 7 game winning streak
Just the offense make me puke.
Half of the players drafted could hit better than these guys
Trainman - June 11, 2009
would you rather be staring a 10 game loosing streak in the face?

When are the A's gonna develop some players who can hit?
And I don’t have a lot of faith that Cardenas or Doolittle will become good hitters. They might but that remains to be seen.

Philip Christy - June 11, 2009

PortlandPachyderm - June 11, 2009

And now maybe Grant Green. If Carter limits his strikeouts, like he’s apparently doing this year, he could be really good, he has massive power.

PortlandPachyderm - June 11, 2009
But do you have hopes for him
walk off bunt - June 11, 2009
Eh. I think he'll be an OK hitting, shoddy fielding 2B.
I just don’t see a whole lot of value in that.
If he happens to, say, switch to CF and continue to be an OK hitter, I’d be a little happier.
mikev - June 11, 2009
Not strikeouts, per se
but better contact. Also, striking out a ton in the minors is usually a bad sign for a hitter.

WHy don’t you ask the others who thought it was over.
Did I want the game to be over? OF COURSE NOT
Trainman - June 11, 2009
I think you get singled out b/c you're so eager to bust out the "Game Over" phrase
Other’s agonize, but don’t put it in such emphatic terms
cityplANner - June 11, 2009
Actually there is soneone else who beats me to it most of the time
Trainman - June 11, 2009
Yea, someone different..
But there you are every time. It’s just stupid.
OaktownPower - June 11, 2009
Not someone different
They post it most of the time and it is the same person.
Trainman - June 11, 2009
It is NEVER over at 3-0 in the 4th....Ever.
Because you do it all the friggin time.
OaktownPower - June 11, 2009
Does the team not suck anymore?
Future Ed - June 11, 2009
Let's not get ahead of ourselves
walk off bunt - June 11, 2009
The A's DO have a good hitter
Who’da thunk it.
Philip Christy - June 11, 2009
I FUCKING LOVE ADAM KENNEDY
mikev - June 11, 2009
Please do not re-arrange the words in your title
There could be ramifications.

LOL
Trainman - June 11, 2009
Leave Zigfan out of this.
mikev - June 11, 2009
Not my cup of tea.
ZigFan31 - June 11, 2009
OK, we can bring you in.
mikev - June 11, 2009
Okay, I get a spanking for saying AK should be taken out of the 2 spot
Everybody, start lining up…
cityplANner - June 11, 2009
You planned that, didn't you?
67MARQUEZ - June 11, 2009
**POUND** leaves hand imprint on ass cheek
ChadGod - June 11, 2009
I'd take him or Suzuki in the 2 hole
but Kennedy steals more bases, so I like him there.
DDroney - June 11, 2009
How many position players do we have that are better than Hannahan? (including defense)
1. Holliday
2. Zooks
3. Mark Kennedy
…thats all I got
ChadGod - June 11, 2009
Swooney?
cityplANner - June 11, 2009
good joke
ChadGod - June 11, 2009
WHAT THE FUCK.
I went over to check some other site for a moment, paid no attention to Gameday and I see they’re TIED. WHAT. THE. SHIT.

No problem.
Definitely going to leave again.
walkoff baltimore chop - June 11, 2009
Adam Kennedy, of all people.
Best player on the A’s. Anyone predict that before the season?
Philip Christy - June 11, 2009
There's your 2009 All-Star for the A's.
Coach Cleats - June 11, 2009
Pepe!
Although.
Blicks - June 11, 2009
Well no.
Because he wasn’t on the A’s before the season.
pam5981 - June 11, 2009
Well,
that was kind of my point too.
Philip Christy - June 11, 2009
What the shit's up.

Future Ed - June 11, 2009
Good thing we have Hannahan, O-Cab and Kennedy
or we’d be out of this game.
Philip Christy - June 11, 2009
Our scrap-heap reclamation ties the game
Our supposed All-star pops out to end the inning.
Somehow, this feels oddly emblematic of the A’s
cityplANner - June 11, 2009
Lets go A's
win this game

Not this inning.
I believe it’s impossible.
Philip Christy - June 11, 2009
Someone mentioned the other day
The A’s have not had a walk-off win all season. Can someone confirm? Pretty please?
Um this is just for future reference, by the way. I don’t need it like right now.
67MARQUEZ - June 11, 2009
I thought Buck had one against the Red Sox in extra's back in April
Coach Cleats - June 11, 2009
correct.

Yeah
I said afterwards I forgot about that Boston game. That was it, I believe, before today though.

One won lost won - June 11, 2009
Chance of scoring 1+ runs with a leadoff walk: 41%. Is this number for all baseball or for the A's in general?
I’m guessing it’s for teams in general.
JJ Martin - June 11, 2009
time for Barton to raise his friggin average!!!

Leopold Bloom - June 11, 2009
Suzuki fouled a pitch off his knee
He’s okay
DDroney - June 11, 2009
So we brought Zooks in to bunt
and he failed miserably, to the point of injuring himself.
Philip Christy - June 11, 2009
this is why
you give a guy a day off, and don’t play him.

He's still not. I mean, that's an awesome game winner, but...
mikev - June 11, 2009
At this point, he's almost at Swooney-replacement level
which is the best thing we’ve got. So I’d say: yes, he’s servicable
cityplANner - June 11, 2009
That says less about Davis than it does about Sweeney.

And yes, “beautifully” is the right word.

It was pretty "Uggh-ly" there for seven innings though.
PortlandPachyderm - June 11, 2009

Games like this make me think the team is still in the race.
They got just enough pitching, a few clutch hits, played some fundamental 9th inning ball, and got contributions from the little guys. I love wins like this.
JJ Martin - June 11, 2009
and with the FAIL-spiral of Lackey and Santana
and a (hopefully) inevitable summer wilt by the Rangers, we might have a chance if we can win 85-88 games.
