Good old "worst case scenario" so far: Poor pitching, poor hitting, poor defense, and Ryan Sweeney may have injured him trying to beat out an infield ground ball. 4-0 Jays after 5 lame innings, literally and figuratively.
yes. Good win today, huh. My brother is very conflicted about Allardyce – as he said when he was appointed ‘well, he’ll keep us up, but God, the next couple of years could be dull.’ Or words to that effect
3-0 at home vs liverpool = suck. 7th → 9th = suck. away to everton, home to boro = need all 6 points, and away to everton is a tough task. and need spurs and fulham to drop points.
I didn't see most of it, but he could have done much worse.
For mine he should be in the rotation until further notice. He has the talent and quite frankly it’s not like we’re going anywhere this season so why not let him take his licks and see if he’s got the mental make up.
The players get paid millions of dollars to be motivated. Baseball is literally the only sport I can think of where getting the coach thrown out can be considered a good thing.
on espn radio, not sure who said it or when. It was a talk show host. “In pro sports, I don’t want to pay all that money to watch rebuilding. You pay me when your rebuilding and I’ll pay you, when you’re good! Win now!” kinda true
to only be 4 games back, today. Especially after the recent 3-6 stretch against the division. All they need is just one winnining streak, just one and they’re right up there. There are so very many games, to play.
Let’s go Oakland!
Have a Happy Day Everyone!
Actually, I think the key so far in the West has been
the Angels’ ability to do exactly what the A’s needed to do: Just play .500 ball through the injuries. The Angels are currently in great shape, IMO, the A’s not.
He did what he was supposed to do. filled in at 2nd, short, and 3rd when needed, and played good/great D at all positions. He didn’t mash, but he hit a number of great clutch hits. During the latter part of his tenure with us, he was second to only Papi in walk-off hits (or GWRBIs or something)
after bob gerens ejection the A’s scored 3 runs =D
6 HITs!!!! and 3 RUNS!!!!!
BOB SHOW SOME RAGE AND GET THROWN OUT MORE OFTEN!!!
either that or get a new manager
roomy.

walkoff baltimore chop - May 9, 2009
I may have to go watch the Rays knock the hell out of Boston.
It’s always fun to watch a blowout at Fenway because they’re so quiet and sullen.
I really do think I’m beginning to hate the Red Sox much more than the Yankees.
Leopold Bloom - May 9, 2009
you know what scares me about the red sox
huge budget AND a competent GM who develops prospects.
I’m not sure which one I hate more, but I know which one I fear more.
ohmangoAs - May 9, 2009
I hate the Red Sox more.
Leopold Bloom - May 9, 2009
Yeah I dislike the Red Soxs immensely.
I kinda like the Yankees – or at least I like the YES network commentator so I can bear to watch them.
OldhamA - May 9, 2009
What a difference a good manager can make!
BlueJays have pitchers on the DL that can fill a decent starting rotation, and still lead the division

Speaking of Blackburn,
we’re totally safe now. Allardyce is the messiah (kinda).

We'll see what he does with a summer of

I’ll have a word next game though – or I’ll get one of my colleagues to pass a message on. ;-)

We did score all five of our runs in one inning last night.
PLus, we just got a momentum changer from Jack’s powerful arm.

GreenNGoldSooner - May 9, 2009
I think they're facing a very good Jays team.
OldhamA - May 9, 2009
The Jays are a good team.
Brian Tallet, however, is not an unhittable pitcher.

but pls do better the next time
stm72 - May 9, 2009

Not as bad as the numbers suggest (as Nico said earlier), but there was a lot of room for improvement.

Terk - May 9, 2009
he did
stm72 - May 9, 2009
I switched to the Tampa Bay beatdown of Boston
Love it when the RentSox fans spend all that money, just to see a miserable loss to a team like Tampa Bay, homegrown and up and coming.
One won lost won - May 9, 2009
yeah 23.00 now thats awsome. God i hate blevins
Fancy - May 9, 2009
Oakland is very lucky
to only be 4 games back, today. Especially after the recent 3-6 stretch against the division. All they need is just one winnining streak, just one and they’re right up there. There are so very many games, to play.
Let’s go Oakland!
Have a Happy Day Everyone!
jonxstri - May 9, 2009
We are blessed to be in a deeply mediocre division.
Anyone can win it.
Including us.
Which is really pretty sad.
GreenNGoldSooner - May 9, 2009
Actually, I think the key so far in the West has been
the Angels’ ability to do exactly what the A’s needed to do: Just play .500 ball through the injuries. The Angels are currently in great shape, IMO, the A’s not.
Nico - May 9, 2009
sadly true
stm72 - May 9, 2009
Reminds me of 2006
javaball - May 9, 2009
who's the one that annouces "green is gold" ad on the radio?
LiZaRdReVoLuTiOn - May 9, 2009
What the hell happened to the Blevins that was awesome last year?
walkoff baltimore chop - May 9, 2009
Crosby stole his mojo...a la Austin Powers
Kallus - May 9, 2009
I'll take that. A utility player with mojo > a loogy.
OldhamA - May 9, 2009
The same thing that happened to Ziegler
LiZaRdReVoLuTiOn - May 9, 2009
i think he's off cavorting with the Gallagher that was awesome last year
and the Outman. and the Eveland.
Ok, maybe ‘awesome’ is overstating it
alea iacta est - May 9, 2009
Lay off GALLAGHER!!!
:D
LiZaRdReVoLuTiOn - May 9, 2009
I call for a walkoff with a BS next to a blue jay pitcher.
ElQuesoCapitan - May 9, 2009
choose one:
a. walk-off balk
b. walk-off baltimore chop
c. walk-off error
c1. sulk-off
d. walk-off texas leaguer
Jjjsixsix - May 9, 2009
C
ElQuesoCapitan - May 9, 2009
A
walkoff baltimore chop - May 9, 2009
e. walk-off casually and shank Blevins with a piece of broken maple bat
Kallus - May 9, 2009
both a and c1
LiZaRdReVoLuTiOn - May 9, 2009
yeah but the angels are starting to play like are supposed to and when they get lackey and santana back we are screwed

Fancy - May 9, 2009
GameDay still has Kennedy in a Ray's hat.
I wonder if the folks paying Premium get an A’s cap photoshopped on that picture.

He's having a career month.
Hopefully he crashes and burns from here.
OldhamA - May 9, 2009
why would you wish that on him?
stm72 - May 9, 2009
So people would shut the eff up about Marco bloody Scutaro.
He was beyond mediocre when he was an A.
OldhamA - May 9, 2009
oh
stm72 - May 9, 2009
THANK YOU.
mikev - May 9, 2009
He's having a better month than his true ability
He has also gotten better and he was useful before.
Nico - May 9, 2009
*shrug*
He’s a .700 OPS player with OK defense at SS/3B and good defense at 2B.
mikev - May 9, 2009
so he was like the rest of the a's?
stm72 - May 9, 2009
that's a little harsh, no a lot harsh
He did what he was supposed to do. filled in at 2nd, short, and 3rd when needed, and played good/great D at all positions. He didn’t mash, but he hit a number of great clutch hits. During the latter part of his tenure with us, he was second to only Papi in walk-off hits (or GWRBIs or something)
Kallus - May 9, 2009
Emil Brown was an RBI Machine for the beginning of last season
franks a lot - May 9, 2009

Rightfully so

OldhamA - May 9, 2009
