Not only do I organise it so I’m awake at 3am, but it’s the last game of the night so it’s not like you can watch some baseball being played professionally to take the bitter taste out of your mouth (I mean I could as I’d just watch an archived game of the day, but it’s much less entertaining when you already know the score).
said The A’s need an Earl Weaver type manager who screams at the players and shows some emotion. He said, “I don’t follow your team much but from what I see, Geren needs to be fired”
AND I MANAGE AN A’S FAN SITE. Don’t get me wrong – a 5 game winning streak and I’m back leaning with every pitch. But this team/organization is embarrassing me so far.
I mean, wtf?? I thought part of the draw of bringing him here this year was that he’d bring some life to the clubhouse, set an example for the young players – but what? nothing.
Is Holliday honestly struggling, or does he not even want to be on this team?
It is just bizarre how he is performing. I remember Kenny Rogers pulling the same sh_t and Billy got mad at him and told him to start pitching so he could trade him. Then, all of a sudden Kenny started pitching and then we traded him. Is this what Holliday is trying to pull?
Now I’m going to torture myself further by switching back to the Detroit Red Wings @ Anaheim Ducks playoff game 3, so I can booooo Anaheim and boooo Detroit and then boooo Anaheim some more
Ken Korach disguises it well, but you can tell HE'S disgusted
by this team. I hate being negative and hate the negativity on game threads, but I just don’t have anything positive to give right now. For the third season in a row, the team is injured, lifeless, and dull. Something’s gotta give.
Honestly, it's the lifeless and dull part that I really can't stand.
I’ve gotten great pleasure following largely unsuccessful A’s teams that were, nevertheless, fun to watch (the Billy Martin years leap to mind, for example).
What a way to ruin a night.

By reaching down and attempting to pick up a ball multiple times before actually getting it.
ElQuesoCapitan - May 5, 2009
Cabrera is always smiling and yucking it up on the field.
I don’t think he is too concerned that his team sucks.

I've been to Safeco four times
man, that would simply be THE WORST OF ALL TIME!!

oaklandSMASH - May 5, 2009
I swear if there's a THIRD season of this....
….I’m gonna pray that I live the rest of my life in ten-minute-long montage sequence.
GreenNGoldSooner - May 5, 2009
Ken Korach disguises it well, but you can tell HE'S disgusted
by this team. I hate being negative and hate the negativity on game threads, but I just don’t have anything positive to give right now. For the third season in a row, the team is injured, lifeless, and dull. Something’s gotta give.
Nico - May 5, 2009
Agree with you
I usually try to keep my head up, but this is getting to be too much.
doctorK - May 5, 2009
agreed
HRH - May 5, 2009
The other thing that irritates me is how smug Billy Beane seems
about “being ahead of the curve,” “knowing how to rebuild,” “reloading and rebuilding at the same time.”
News flash: Other GMs are also capable of having three losing seasons in a row. You’re nothing special for that.
Nico - May 5, 2009
Honestly, it's the lifeless and dull part that I really can't stand.
I’ve gotten great pleasure following largely unsuccessful A’s teams that were, nevertheless, fun to watch (the Billy Martin years leap to mind, for example).
But this just isn’t very fun.
GreenNGoldSooner - May 5, 2009
Yup.
And if I have to hear Fosse and Kuiper tell me to “tip my cap” to another piece o’ crap pitcher again, I don’t know what I’ll do.

Not that it matters

A'sfansince1970 - May 5, 2009
yes, the crappiness of the rest of the team
only accentuates the few high points that there were. I’m naming my first born “Zooks”
