but at least he was decisive. I’ll take that any day over Rajai’s “to third no back to second no third wait I’ll just hang out here halfway!!!” If the ball drops, Kennedy’s at third easy. The mistake was thinking the ball had a good chance to drop when in fact it wasn’t all that close.
why the stands were so empty. I didn’t bore her with a long explanation. I just said: “Everyone who wants to go is waiting for the fireworks tomorrow night.”
… I’m going to feel the same way about 75% of this team as I feel now about Terrence Long. That feeling of, “Oh, shit, yeah, that guy was there. Weird.”
That wasn’t a good at-bat. He didn’t get a strike for the first four pitches, arguably five, but wasn’t on base. I don’t care that he hit it hard later. It was still an out. Kuiper is annoying me.
These, “DH or no DH” arguments absolutely perplex me. Why the F would I want to watch a pitcher hit? I see enough automatic outs as it is on this squad.
Beane may say, “I’ve had it” but he probably means,
Chavez is out
Ellis is out
Duchscherer is out, no one is hitting worth snot, so he’s “had it”. But really, he had little trading power. No one is a rose among the milkweed, no one looks particularly covetable. It’s a yard of dandelions, so no one is too interested. I think by saying, “he’s had it”, that he simply holds no hope of success in 2009, so you won’t see any work done. As in, no trades.
Nats fans have a highly productive offense, a currently lousy pitching staff widely projected to be very good in a couple of years, and a really great new stadium.
A’s fans have … a currently lousy pitching staff widely projected to be very good in a couple of years.
2 pop up bunts and this time with Figgins at 3rd and no outs, he attempts to get the ball into the infield but flails and the bat goes to the infield and Scioscia walks away from railing in disgust. LOL
Haha

GreenNGoldSooner - May 22, 2009
When the weather is warm, you add 2-3 million POTENTIAL goers
that otherwise would not consider going to the game. One-half of one percent of those then go, and it adds 10,000-15,000 to the actual crowd.
The “one-half of one percent” is why you need a large metro area to support baseball.

Same time as Dale Murphy's.
louismg - May 22, 2009

ElQuesoCapitan - May 22, 2009

brian.only - May 22, 2009
NOMAR!
lynnzgal - May 22, 2009
NOMAH!
Leopold Bloom - May 22, 2009
Nomah!

DaSwinginA's - May 22, 2009
Let's go Nomar
Over the fence!
streetfan - May 22, 2009
WE GOT LIFE, BITCHES!
Leopold Bloom - May 22, 2009
SWEET!
brian.only - May 22, 2009
That's why we like Nomar.....
BERRYJO - May 22, 2009
The tying run is on first!
And the winning run is at the plate.
louismg - May 22, 2009
NOMAR! Hit!
Englishmajor - May 22, 2009
Rajai picked off to end the game.
ElQuesoCapitan - May 22, 2009
As he falls over trying to steal
Trainman - May 22, 2009
Large Neck Tats = Bad Idea
GreenNGoldSooner - May 22, 2009
We still have a glimmer of hope
jdub69 - May 22, 2009
Oh god here comes Davis
DaSwinginA's - May 22, 2009
RAJAI sighting.
WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE.
louismg - May 22, 2009
finally a decent hit
One won lost won - May 22, 2009
Nomar may only be hitting .214
But I still feel better when he’s batting than I do for 90% of the lineup.
worldblee - May 22, 2009
Let's do the math.
If that’s true, then Nomar is better than 8.1 of the 9 players in the lineup.
So he’s the best then?
louismg - May 22, 2009
Do you have a Mathletics workbook?
ohtobe21likehuston - May 22, 2009
That .1 is Bobby Crosby
worldblee - May 22, 2009
Oh great, Davis in to run
What are his chances of scoring from 1B on a triple?
doctorK - May 22, 2009
AK -47 come on!!!!!!!!!
Wreckonized - May 22, 2009
He can do it
Trainman - May 22, 2009
THAT'S RAJAI DAVIS MUSIC!
Leopold Bloom - May 22, 2009
whaddyathink??
Rajai gets hit by the batted ball?
“He’s DUE!!”
One won lost won - May 22, 2009
Dear AK
If you pop up, it’s OK to keep running this time.
worldblee - May 22, 2009
TIME FOR RALLY CAPS?!
streetfan - May 22, 2009
i will
bring out the rally monkeys if it will help
Wreckonized - May 22, 2009
I'll help you spank them
doctorK - May 22, 2009
4 BBs for the win
I’m callin’ it.
Nick - May 22, 2009
thats seems like
the only way the A’s are getting on case anyways
Wreckonized - May 22, 2009
EXCELLENT
Now for some hitting!!
streetfan - May 22, 2009
Or continued walking
Nick - May 22, 2009
OOH, I FORGOT...

streetfan - May 22, 2009
We suck if we cant pull some off w/ this luck!
brian.only - May 22, 2009
Flag-waving music!
Englishmajor - May 22, 2009
Yay!
lynnzgal - May 22, 2009
The tying run is now at second.
Winning run at 1st. Hey Raj… if the ball is in center field, even if you think he is going to catch it… RUN HOME DO NOT PASS GO DO NOT COLLECT $200.
louismg - May 22, 2009
Oakland starting to make this almost interesting
2 on, 2 out, Sweeney up.
jdub69 - May 22, 2009
Almost
but it will be nice if we win.
iglew - May 22, 2009
Sweeney is so fucking due it's not funny
and it won’t be funny if he fails
Trainman - May 22, 2009
TYING RUN IN SCORING POSITION
(does Rajai on second still count as scoring position?)
Leopold Bloom - May 22, 2009
Walk-off Ryan Sweeney
then he gets hurt in the pileup at home plate.
One won lost won - May 22, 2009
Fortunately, he won't have to make it to home since he'd be the third run
worldblee - May 22, 2009
Is it bad
that I’m waiting for Rajai to make a boneheaded baserunning mistake?
TerrySteinbach - May 22, 2009
Hopefully he knows there are two outs
doctorK - May 22, 2009
Or at least that Gallego does.
One of those guys needs to know.
louismg - May 22, 2009
He could miss touching 3rd base on the upcoming single
Trainman - May 22, 2009
C'mon ONE HIT!
baseballgirl - May 22, 2009
yesterday
a shot to the wall was only a single and we didnt score
i think we need a double at least tonight
Wreckonized - May 22, 2009
C'mon RyBear!
Leopold Bloom - May 22, 2009
MOJO!
brian.only - May 22, 2009
Wow, that looked outside
jdub69 - May 22, 2009
Last strike.
I predict low and away flailing bat, swinging K.
louismg - May 22, 2009
I am wrong.
louismg - May 22, 2009
I still love you.
Leopold Bloom - May 22, 2009
would you take a weak grounder?
stm72 - May 22, 2009
we are done
Wreckonized - May 22, 2009
RY!
lynnzgal - May 22, 2009
fail
doctorK - May 22, 2009
he tried to pull it, and he grounded out instead
just what David Forst complained about Sweeney in the pre-game. People told him he should hit more HRs, and it’s screwed him up.
One won lost won - May 22, 2009
bummer.
Leopold Bloom - May 22, 2009
good night kids T.T
Wreckonized - May 22, 2009
NOOOOO!!
we suck!
DaSwinginA's - May 22, 2009
We freaking fail.
ElQuesoCapitan - May 22, 2009
F!
lynnzgal - May 22, 2009
I hate losing
jdub69 - May 22, 2009
This team is so fucking boring.
ohtobe21likehuston - May 22, 2009
The team was fun in Tampa.
iglew - May 22, 2009
i'd use the terms bad or inept, but sure that too
stm72 - May 22, 2009
That game was not fun.
iglew - May 22, 2009
Sigh
Wellll…. Buh-bye
streetfan - May 22, 2009
Thanks for tantalizing us, A's
Good night all.
worldblee - May 22, 2009
waste of an evening- at least you guys did'nt suck though, night everybody
brian.only - May 22, 2009
A Pathetic loss for a pathetic team that is simply pathetic in the hitting department
We have played nearly 2 months and this team cannot hit their way out of a fucking paper bag.
Trainman - May 22, 2009
we did better against garza than buckner. how?
stm72 - May 22, 2009
at least they didn't make a boatload of errors
coffee roaster - May 22, 2009
the diamondbacks beat a weak team
because they replaced their old manager, now if only we can do the same
Wreckonized - May 22, 2009
gad, one run loss but no E's yay, I guess
ak_A - May 22, 2009
Our offense just dries the fuck up every time we head back to oakland.
ElQuesoCapitan - May 22, 2009
cold night weather
everybody in “huddle” mode.
One won lost won - May 22, 2009
Bring back Steroids already
jdub69 - May 22, 2009
Sorry y'all.
It was fun. Night.
lynnzgal - May 22, 2009
woof!
Leopold Bloom - May 22, 2009
So I think we can all agree that Don doesn't get to go to the games any longer.
Leopold Bloom - May 22, 2009
you mean Marquez the terrorist?
I’m pretty sure I saw him put on explosives in the parking lot
Kallus - May 22, 2009
no wonder espn reporting that beane has given up on this team and is going to blow it up
stm72 - May 22, 2009
Finally! A little Veeck-style marketing!
GreenNGoldSooner - May 22, 2009
Cannot wait for it to be blown up
He better get a 3rd baseman no matter the cost.
Trainman - May 22, 2009
Saying this
I like winning better but for this team to win next season, there needs to be some blowing up involving quite a few DFA’s and trades.
Trainman - May 22, 2009
Geren, ....DFA'ed
Might get the boys in alert mode.
One won lost won - May 22, 2009

stm72 - May 22, 2009
taj adib also wrote a fanpost on the article
stm72 - May 22, 2009
I'll try that next, thanks again
One won lost won - May 22, 2009
read it, thanks
IMO, and strictly, IMO from the 10,000 ft view…
Beane may say, “I’ve had it” but he probably means,
Chavez is out
Ellis is out
Duchscherer is out, no one is hitting worth snot, so he’s “had it”. But really, he had little trading power. No one is a rose among the milkweed, no one looks particularly covetable. It’s a yard of dandelions, so no one is too interested. I think by saying, “he’s had it”, that he simply holds no hope of success in 2009, so you won’t see any work done. As in, no trades.
One won lost won - May 22, 2009
Edgar Gonzalez tomorrow
How early do we get to say game over?
Trainman - May 22, 2009
After the 9th inning.
iglew - May 22, 2009
AS SOON AS IT HITS MIDNIGHT
ElQuesoCapitan - May 22, 2009
well, that was lame
’night all.
doctorK - May 22, 2009
yurf.
Leopold Bloom - May 22, 2009
Furf
ElQuesoCapitan - May 22, 2009
Yay A's are on the crap end to another great game...
A little consistency would be go a long way for this team….
Oaktownflav - May 22, 2009
Holliday and others hit Haren well
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/bvsp?playerId=5565
Trainman - May 22, 2009
That will be moot at we have EGon on the hill.
ElQuesoCapitan - May 22, 2009
So this is what it's like to be a Pirates fan
I don’t like it. Not one bit
Kallus - May 22, 2009
Fixed for relevance.
ElQuesoCapitan - May 22, 2009
Not fair.
Nats fans have a highly productive offense, a currently lousy pitching staff widely projected to be very good in a couple of years, and a really great new stadium.
A’s fans have … a currently lousy pitching staff widely projected to be very good in a couple of years.
el campysino - May 22, 2009
Nationals
!!!!!
ElQuesoCapitan - May 22, 2009
Resounding rebuttal! Well done!
And above all, keep ignoring the point you’re supposedly responding to. You’ll feel good — but I guess you already know that.
el campysino - May 22, 2009
RECAP UP

baseballgirl - May 22, 2009
Gotta laugh at Aybar
2 pop up bunts and this time with Figgins at 3rd and no outs, he attempts to get the ball into the infield but flails and the bat goes to the infield and Scioscia walks away from railing in disgust. LOL
Pity they have two more chances to score though
Trainman - May 22, 2009
thank you trainman
I needed that ray of sunshine in my eclipse-y world
