and it's a bitchy thread, too
Bwhahahahahahahaha....

….so wrong.

Hahaha!

Oh Nico!

is that pic of joe blanton from 2006 or 2008?
Is that photo meant to imply

“it’s over”?

ouch...well played
Pena is going to set the record for most walks in a game.

So if you’re this guy, who do you target? How do you narrow it down with so many options to choose from?

Is that LB?
Awww!
I said it was a bitchy thread!
Besides, he shaved his head.
He will have laryngitis by night's end for sure.
You target the good guy so you can unnerve him and get the best player to mess up

so …. no one?

Zooks.
He may have already gotten to him once then.
The Heckler!
hey guys, we suck.

time to not be here again.

Pathetic.....

absolutely pathetic. This Gallagher for Harden trade is really working out well for the A’s.

Small gripe.

Why is Crosby swinging for the fences when we’re down 9-2?

padding stats?
Not when you fly out :-(
Maybe he's trying to change his GO/AO ratio
How about turning this into an...

MILB game thread

Carter hits hr #4
the underrated jason fernandez pitching tonight

That sounds GREAT!

Oh “MILB.” I read one of the letters wrong.

I'm personally pulling for Fernandez

Got the chance to chat with him after a game in Lake Elsinore last year that I covered, then a little more in Lancaster the day after a start. Pretty nice guy. Big 311 fan as well. We’ve both been to 311 Day in New Orleans now. ;-)

Big gripe.

This team is fucking horrible. The next most interesting thing for Oakland will be who they will take with their top 5 pick next year.

or the #13 pick this yr

and the trade deadline

Oh yeah... these guys will command at lot at the deadline.

/sarcasm

Well at least we're watching the development

of our next 1Bman 2Bman SS 3Bman. Oh crap.

I disagree!

It’s easy to watch a team when they are winning. I am going to watch every night to see what different and unique ways this can implode! Errors from every infielder? Check. Home run hitters hitting dribblers. Not a problem. 6 run leads given up. It’s easy! If you watch the A’s every night, you will see something you have never seen before.

Why is there a big blue star in centerfield?

Are we playing the Cowboys or the Devil Rays ( I will never drop the devil…ha ha ha)..

I just tuned into the game and I see this crap.

Can’t the A’s face the Royals for the rest of the season, please?

royals, those 20-18 royals

with Greinke? I kinda hope not

Well, the Royals that they faced last week. Or at least, I WANT THAT OFFENSE BACK.

BB is a very intelligent guy. No doubt about that one.

However, if he ran a business like he does this team right now would he make a profit? I know that some of these moves take time but Geren should be fired NOW and he should make some wholesale changes (like he did shipping Jeremy Giambi) to give the team a chance to respond. Sitting idle isn’t helping anything.

Exactly - trade for a promising "major league ready" 3Bman or SS

and I’m singing a different tune. Fail with guys who might be really good in a year, not with crap that has no place on any future winning team.

Taking from General Patton & Steve Jobs...

Give me the best plan you have right now rather than wait to build a super-computer that is obsolete once it’s built.

revenue sharing checks from the yankees
when you have 50% or more of your employees

performing significantly below expectations, you’re probably not going to make a profit.

i don’t think there’s even a chance for him to run a hot hand to make some money

plus no obvious market deficiencies to play with

the only way to make money would be a ponzi scheme

How about a Fonzie scheme?

We can’t afford to get into trouble with the government.

What is Billy driving these days.....

obviously a Chrysler Sebring, or perhaps a Chevy Vega!

THANK GOD! We're saved!

Yippie-i-yay, Mini Sirloin Burgers! It’s a sign!

Are we going to score one more futile run?
What's the point

If we are going to suck, we might as well do it 100 percent successfully

I don't get them tonight. That was one of the few bright spots for me each day.
so one good thing I discovered (turn those frowns upside down!)

If you already bought MLB Audio you can upgrade to Gameday Premium for only $5 more. I don’t think they had that option before, but clearly no one was stupid enough to buy both at full price.

these 9-2 blow outs are where bobby crosby shines.
good thing we have so many of them
the nationals just called.

they said we are not very good.

and they're beating up on my boy tonight. not good
Oh they did, did they?

That’s just mean.

Oh, darn. Next thing ya know, the Expos will start calling, too.

it's worse when they sneer at you in French

and remind you they outdrew you.

Then blow their noses in your generally direction.
even worse when they remind you that olympic stadium is a better facility than the coliseum.
Gio Gonzalez still sucks I see

Why did they bring him up?

Ol' billy is into that whole sort of "crash and burn" thing.

which is why our vets and rookies get injured, in every sense of the word.

Then what happens when everyone on the roster “crashes and burns?”

The front office will take the field.

Beane pitching to Geren?

Geren will be the catcher

I mean, he already is.

He's a "catcher" eh?
Taking one for the team?
Found out that a friend of mine was gay when

another friend’s brother noticed him on a gay site. He was wearing a shirt that said “pitcher” as in doesn’t accept but does give. Ewww…

He's next in this stellar Rotation.
ugggghhhh. sadly this won't be the first game i turn off early this year. brutal.
I think VC just said we started the roadtrip at 3.79 ERA

It’s at 4.30 before today and climbing. I wonder if we can get it to 4.79 and climb a whole run in 7 games

Vince,

what is NOT frustrating about tonight’s game?

Cust's bunt

That was awesome.

Sigh, I missed that.
Me too, but I read about it.
mini-Ichiro
Way out east

the story’s told
about a right-fielder
tiny and bold.

Well done. I needed a laugh.

He’s like Elvis in Japan so you shoud add that to the lyrics when you have the opportunity.

Way out West

Tragedy told
about a bunch of losers
worthless and old
no direction in the fold
so in the dugout, with balls the size of marbles is Bob Geren

Yippee Ki Yay, green and gold losers
Yippee Ki Yay , I wish we had some “Juicers”

Rev sharing

someone tell the A’s you dont get more money for being the worst team in MLB.

Can TB add on another 9 to make it 20

I think so

I'd say 65 games

is a decent over-under.

And I’m taking the under

That's a good bet

They could lose 120 if they tried hard enough

Could the players be showing their true colors re: Geren?

Not sure but an interesting point.

Professional pride would come into play there surely.
but if you're miserable (not fired up or pissed off)

then it’s hard to hide your true feelings or true colors. Shout out to Cyndi (Lauper).

65 games under .500?
4+ innings and

over 120 pitches for Gallagher and Gio

A DP!

Could this be the turning point?

someone

write a letter to billy and tell him how pissed we are

Open letter to a landlord?

I think of BB like a landlord who is completely ignoring the needs of his tenants.

yeah we have sewage all over the place
rats chewing up the kitchen

roaches up to my knees
turn the oven on, it smells like dachau, yeah
and the rain falls through the ceiling

can this be right?

they have 11 runs on 6 hits?

oh, it is right, thanks to cy gallagher
Zobrist is head over heels for his team
Or as John Madden would say,

heels over head.

Lose Madden on one channel.

Gain Chuckie on another.

The opposite A's anthem

“I think that possibly, maybe I’m falling for you. Yes there’s a chance that I falling quite hard over you.”

Hmm, what part of

“Rays don’t score any more while I’m at dinner” did you not understand, A’s defense?!

Cunningham l-i-v-e-s
Or, as bbg likes to call him, Cummingham.
Shoot. Missing Two and a Half Men.
I think the a's have more than 2 and a half holes
we have become them

What Tampa was.. what the Royals might still be.. what the Pirates still are. It’s kind of exciting— I think it is basically “Trading Places” and we’re Dan Aykroyd

I will bet you you can make

the A’s into a winner. Standard terms

The Royals aren't that bad but they certainly aren't good either.

They have a lot of nice pieces to their team.

Its a comedy of errors!

C’mon…you kind of have to laugh now, right?

The former heir apparent making the old pro look bad
way ahead of you
wow

any hyperbole there ken?

Do they have Darwin Awards for baseball?
Danny darwin awards?

I don’t think any current a’s are sweaty enough

We could make some

no doubt

You would have to make a lot of them

because there are only a couple of players who don’t deserve them.

they're gonna have to send down Gio again

with this pitch count he’s not going to be able to pitch for a week! Time for Mazarro for the next turn

and once again

WHY is HE throwing in a junk situation?

Gallagher goes down, I think

question: who leaves when they activate Nomar?

probably pennington or davis?
Pennington is on the A's right now?
sorry mean cunningham
No, though to be fair with the way we rotate players

he could be.

How can a ML team be this bad?

I mean they’re professionals right?

Yes. They play at the highest level of baseball offered in North America.
to be fair

the rotation was never ML

Wait, the A’s have professionals on the team? I thought they hadn’t arrived yet.

We don't even have Amateurs on this team.

Professionals is such a stretch.

Do they practice?

I mean, beyond the pre-game batting practice? I always wonder that.

Kendall has 2,000 ML hits,

Good for him.

that's a lot of slap right there

tons of slap

Haven't seen that one???

I’m sure it’s a great deal that I can’t get in stores.

You'll love his nuts
Hey. Easy there.

I’m just not sure I’m ready for that program.

He was awesome at one point.

Now he’s grinding out a living. I’ve always liked him.

Yeah he hasn't been the same....

…..since he switched to the ShamWow!

Whoosh!

That’s the sound of that joke going over my head.

Is Leopold at this game?
Yep, poor soul.
Look on the bright side

He’s probably already heading back to Sarasota.

If the A's come to your state,

you don’t want to miss ’em, right?! ;)

That WAS the thinking.
If this A's team flew to England I'd probably find an excuse not to go.
He's going to all of them.

God bless him.

Ouch.
And help him, yes.
If the A's come to my state...

…it would suggest they’re finally in AAA where they belong.

If he is, I'd assume he'd have killed himself by now,
Well, he can't tear his hair out.
It will just fall out as he begins to become one of the undead.
NO! Not a ZOMBIE!
Just tuning in.

At least we’re consistent!

Game 35 - The Athletic Slaughtering
Rock bottom?

Maybe? Hopefully?

Wishful thinking.

But if we have hit a bottom, perhaps the team could enroll in a 12 step program.

“We’re the Oakland A’s. And we’re suckaholics”

“Hi, A’s!”

Unfortunately there is no rock-bottom for the A's

It’s an endless pit.

I hate to think that.
If we keep playing like this, it's the only thing I can honestly believe.
I think we're like a submarine (yellow if you like),

we’ve passed the point where the keel implodes due to the pressure of water on the outside and now only the sea bed can stop us – that being game 162.

I think we're like a submarine (yellow if you like),

we’ve passed the point where the keel implodes due to the pressure of water on the outside and now only the sea bed can stop us – that being game 162.

I feel like we're in an Octopuss's Garden
Bad title.

Good titles distinguish a particular work from the more general genre in which it belongs.

Back to AAA Gio

You are not a good pitcher and will be awhile before you are.

Send em all

This is just down right depressing.

I wonder if we'd do better with our whole AAA team in the majors.
I wonder what kind of a comeback

What it be should the A’s win this game?

the next interesting thing to watch for is

will Gio hit 100 pitches for the evening

Brewers so much better an organization it's sick

new ballpark… growing fan base and attendance… real hitters… lose Weeks for season and rookie Gamel gets in lineup for first ML start and he goes yard second time up.

A’s are a joke.

Gamel's not playing 2nd is he?
3rd...

but he’ll play there a lot more since Counsell has to play a lot of 2B.

I've heard he's Braun like there - i.e. really bad.
Huge understatement

Brewers know what’s up. Went to a game there last season, and I’ve been following them since. Having Macha only helps, and of course they look like a great team with him at the helm, while this team continues to be a fucking disaster. Changes need to be made ASAP or there will be Marlins-like attendance for the rest of the season.

Speakin of which, Braun just made a great catch.
they had a TON of years where they were supposed to be good

and it never happened. Right now… HELL YES!

They have Gamel, LaPorta, Braun and Fielder.

They could probably outproduce our lineup on their own.

And they're spring training field in Maryvale is beautiful.

They have some rabid fans.

drunk posting

their

No LaPorta

he’s in Cleveland and CC’s in NY

Macha

averaged 92 wins a year for us. He had a better winning percentage than Tony did and we fired him.

It just wasn't good enough

and we let Francona go too :-(

Looks really stupid now

The fact that we fired Macha for Geren. Talk about your all-time backfires.

I'm tired of hearing The Fratellis
Might I suggest a Truffle Shuffle?
You need to go work on the house.

I don’t think watching games is gonna help.

Next week
Moving in next week?
Yep

I work Thu-Sun so I’m going to move on my first day off.

do you have to buy everything- mower, weed-eater, rake,

furniture or do you have some things? I used my credit card a lot when I moved into my house.

Time for a Colon cleanse

then I can look like Geren does every night sitting so smug in the dugout.

How far does our win-loss record have to drop

before we go from “third unluckiest” team to third luckiest?

I'd say to runs on one wild pitch is pretty unlucky, or 100% A's Baseball. Maybe both.
Didn't G say something about trying to punch the ball sometimes this year?
G being Giambi?
Too lazy to type his name, but y
You know he's washed up right?
Really?!? You don't say!

Luckily when Chavvy comes back, this team will really hit its stride!

Is it time for a Rally Salma

or do we need runners on base for that?!

We need for to not suck.
Maybe next year then

that's selma, not salma
Yeah

She’s… inspirational!

Rays announcers excited about Niemann.

It’s sad that they “don’t know” about the A’s.

we have 2 guys on base and there's nobody out!
oh, there's one out
1 out
....and now's there's 3...fargh
Make that 3 outs
Bobby being Bobby.
Do any of our Brits listen to the MLB audio?
I forked out for MLB.tv so no.
I wonder if AIE does.
He's not a 'Brit', he's dual citizenship now.

Why do you ask anyway?

There are two different ads which feature

really crappy fake British accents.

Or at least that’s how it sounds to me. I wanted to ask for a second opinion.

Ah ok. AIE might pay for it, you'll just have to ask him when he's around.
It's always interested me

Most British actors can do a very good American accent, but very few Americans can do a convincing English accent.

I've known stage actors who were great,

But the standards seem to be low for radio voices.

I’ve known way too many Gilbert & Sullivan geeks, and nearly all of them do a passably good accent. I wonder if it’s a matter of audience demand. If you went on stage in a G&S show with a bad accent, all the G&S queens would rip you mercilessly. But do a crappy accent on a Pepsi ad and no one cares.

because Americans are too selfish to learn

someone else’s way?

Dude, Brits only learn English.

Go on the continent and they’re all at least bi-lingual.

It’s just because we have better actors.

I was only kidding :-)
Best way to pick up an accent is immersion.

I have a friend who lived in London for a year. That was about five years ago but even now she can pop into a perfect accent any time she wants to.

I wonder if it’s easier for British actors to immerse themselves in American accent than vice versa, simply because American talk is more ubiquitous.

That said, I think the real answer here is laziness. Developing a good accent as an actor is 99% study and practice. Either you care enough to do the job or you don’t.

I've tried immersion, and found my accent stays the same

but my lungs get filled with water and I can’t breathe.

I say the A's do a hit and runithe the Bobby's...

tell Bob Crosby to not let the door ‘hit" him in the ass, an "run’ Geren out of town.

I say

not terrible for gio. 6 ks. 2 runs should have been unearned. I say he takes gallaghers “turn”

I thought was non-terrible last time, too.

He gets thrown into awful situations and has a rough time.

Not enough strikes, though

Gio is as good as he’s throwing strikes.

I guess everything is relative
That's mainly in West Virginia and parts of the South
Oh. Everything, not everyone.
That's not really funny.

I hate to get all PC, but I don’t really care for bigoted stereotypes, even in jest.

No problem

I don’t expect everyone to like stereotype jokes.

If it makes you feel better,

there’s plenty of other bad-taste humor I do enjoy!

I get a kick out of the California being like a granola bar one

All the fruits, nuts and flakes.

I’m gonna have to admit, that one’s kinda funny.

And we've got it all on the A's.
I prefer him to Gallagher right this moment

but that isn’t saying a lot.

gio threw 91 pitches for 3.2IP? holy cr*p!
he walked 3 guys in 3.2 IP? oh my that's bad.
yeah

but 6 ks

Does not belong here until he straightens that out

a problem he has had since day one and appears no better to date which is unfortunate

Thing is, it's hard to judge a pitcher who comes into a blowout situation

It’s a lot easier to pitch well, or strike guys out, when it’s a blowout. You can see the stuff, the process, but not really whether they’re “ready for prime time.”

Quit posting these stats.

You are making it worse!

you can't handle the truth!
Are you Markenson?
i'm willie santiago
You could pass for Willie.

When he’s alive, of course.

Holy toledo

Buck with a double

a gift, but he'll take it
So it wasn't a line drive then?
the comeback begins

come back you quitters

Good God!

Isringhausen is up.

last day of 2000 season -- sigh
I have a bad taste in me mouth
VC mentioning it too
Trainman

Give me 5 starting pitchers that do belong here?

That is the problem

I cannot do that

Hey there's always a bottom 10% in every organization.

We, on the other hand, only have a top 10%.

just got home

glad to see the A’s taking previous losses so personally…

I'm not surprised when Bob Geren is telling them their effort in the Detroit series was outstanding

The bar’s being set low enough the mini sirloin burger cowboys could clear it with ease.

Bobby Crosby will strain a groin in the attempt to do the same
You're ON tonight Flash!
Rar!
no, we have no RAR on this team
No.

Pretty much only RAW.

RAW?

runs above winless?

Running at winless.
Ahhhhh, ahhhhh. Saviour of the universe.
Geren has to get the bubble juice out of his eyes.
I'm sure Geren will praise "the effort."
I will give U a position player who has no right to be in the majors

I could care less if he snags every ball that leaves the oppo bats. He just struck out.

Jack Cust

Bunt it again!

good, time for a HR
Good call!
hey, it happens
I never thought I'd ask this question this year

but if this was Vegas, what are the odds of Geren being fired this year?

long odds

just resigned

Cust!

Never bunt again! Only homers!!

Wait!

Couldn’t we have both?

If only he could teach Davis to bunt.
Sure. Why not?

Not much else going on!

Cust can do anything!

He bunts! He steals! He fouls off pitches with two strikes!

Its a Jack Jack!
Is it me or is he pulling a lot more pitches this year?

It’s probably just my memory playing tricks, but I’m sure most of his homers last year were opposite field.

Hey, I'm fluff.

I’m not here to tell you about the past.

*shakes head*

PT would have rolled out charts, diagrams and spreadsheets.

He's going with the weather
Hey there's out futile run!
My fantasy team thanks him.
That was like a four-base bunt!
I am not trying to be cruel but this is fitting.

"Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt."
— Special Olympics Athlete Oath

Geren's probably prepared to tell them how proud he is of Cust's homer, proving that they never gave up

After school today, I beat my friend in MLB ’09: The Show with an epic comeback. I trailed 7-0 with the Rockies against the Indians and scored seven runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game. A two-run home run by Troy Tulowitzki put me ahead for good and I won the game, 9-7, in 12 innings.

If only this game

was a video game, huh?

I did something like that once.

Gave up 11 runs in the first, ended up winning 20-19 in 22 innings.

We need a variation of this banner

with fantasy [video game]

Hey.

Rated-R’s post changed my life.

Or how about

Athletics Nation – Nobody cares

in general

That would mean something if you weren't still here, cap'n.
8(

I not care in style

And I'm glad you do.
AN - We care a little too much.
That would be appropo.
AN - FIRE [person] NOW
AN - WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE
That's the ticket
At least the more players we got back in trades suck (Gallagher, etc.)

the more likely it is other GM’s will trade with us (no more “teams don’t trade with Beane bc he always gets the upper hand”).

Lol no kidding
master plan

always thinking two moves ahead

13 runs on 9 hits for TB?

Sort of the anti-A’s. They usually get hits and no runs.

look on the bright side

we could have been those poor fans in tampa who actually paid to see this game

oh, and we're only the fourth worst team in baseball :)
That seems hard to believe at this moment.
That's unpossible
I kid you not

Oakland 13 21 .382 10.5 8-10 5-11 149 170 -21 Lost 3 4-6
Arizona 14 23 .378 11 9-15 5-8 144 172 -28 Won 1 3-7
Cleveland 14 25 .359 12 7-11 7-14 203 225 -22 Lost 3 3-7
Washington 11 25 .306 13.5 5-11 6-14 182 225 -43 Lost 4 3-7

oops

Oakland 13-21
Arizona 14-23
Cleveland 14-25
Washington 11-25

speaking of which

I can’t believe cleveland sucks that much, and arizona too…

Interesting.

The managers of both of those teams were MLB Managers of the Year in 2007. Number of wins is a terrible measure of a manager’s abilities.

so Geren is a genius perhaps?
Well I certainly don't blame him for all of the A's losses.

I only blame him for the boneheaded moves he makes during the game and in constructing the lineup.

And Macha was not a good manager simply because we won a lot of games while he was here.

The Zona guy has been fired, no?
or ERA and wins are terrible stats for pitchers

Cliff Lee is not THAT good…nor is Fausto Carmona…and losing C.C. didn’t help

But an Arizona rotation with Haren, Webb, and Davis? I’d expect that alone to get the team higher in the standings than the A’s.

no offense, though
Yeah guys they depend on are sketchy at best:

Upton (too young), Drew (good but not great – and injured I think), Reynolds (strike out machine – I imagine his production is unsustainable), Young (similar).

but but we have neither at this point
Lee's pitching pretty well again

Not much run support, though. Same problem Haren’s having, just not quite on the same level.

Webb being out (for the year?) hasn't helped

And like our “young OF studs of the future!!!111” guys like Chris Young haven’t really turned the corner.

and we've played less games

which gives us a chance to win lose more games.

That's better than I expected.
I have a feeling that Geren will be fired soon.

I see no way that BB, with his ego, can stand much more of this.

That is the problem

His ego is too large to admit his failures

?

That’s baseless.

Seems like his failures are large enough to devour any ego.
What's this about devouring things?

Dang, I'm sure I've seen that.

It’s from a game from my era. Bosconian?

Sinistar
Ah.

The name sounds familiar, but I can’t place it. Probably I played a few times but not regularly.

Will have to Google.

<Googles>

Oh right, now I remember. Yeah, that was a cool game.

1980s video games were the best. Before all the Mortal Kombat klones took over.

I lurved Sinistar!

Practically gave myself carpal tunnel syndrome playing it freshman year of college.

When Sinistar came after you, it shouted “RUN COWARD,” which always sounded like “RON HOWARD!”

Good times.

I also think Geren will be fired soon,

but I don’t think Billy’s ego figures into it at all. And I don’t think their friendship figures into it either.

I think it’s a difficult business decision to decide when to cut a failing manager loose, and I think we don’t know everything that’s going on behind the scenes. But I think eventually you reach a point where you have to make the move, and I think we’re getting close to that point now.

I always tell my friends that I will hire them

but they should be ready for me to expect a much stronger effort than I do from other employees because of our friendship.

OK, 10-run rally now!
Here comes a 9 run inning
Mercifully

we’re at the 9th inning!

Powell hurt?
Pulled a hammy

He was trying and got hurt for his troubles.

God punished him for trying to reach base

Hope he’s OK

he's an oakland (un)athletic
returned - sheesh
20 game losing streak!

without hatteberg!

i will be Buaning it tonight for sure

especially in bare house with no tv and camp pad to lay on

How many more times do you expect to move in your career?
two - maybe three

considering I was 92-2001 on POW Island in SE Alaska then 2001 to 9/2008 in Ketchikan, Alaska and I got here Labor Day….start in Idaho day after Memorial day.

I admire your ability to take it in stride.
massive headache from watching

the worlds slowest movers today. worked it out in Pilates though.

Moving to Idaho

I knew a very, very hot young Latina woman (Half Mexican and half Italian) who was 20 years younger than me at the time. She had the greatest (IMO) rear end I have ever seen. She was beautiful from head to toe. Very nice personality to go with the knock out looks. She moved to Idaho with her 3 year old daughter. I think she moved to Caldwell or somewhere close to that.

Often wondered what happened to her.

drinking and reminiscing tonight?
Luck of the Irish

Kennedy a base hit

I can only imagine what he's thinking arriving on this team midseason.
I'm sure the paycheck gets him through it.

An extra zero on your check is a good thing.

Oh yeah. That's what I was talking about earlier though,

he’s just doing his job, regardless of how shittily the guys around him are doing theres. Professional pride – figures that he’s an ex-Angel.

happy to be up from AAA
He thinks, "wow, they cheer for a base hit?!"

“Pretty sad” :(

C'mon Raj!

Anything to make this game less…whatever.

Ain't over till it's over!
Crosby ends it
Izzie against Crosby.

Could I hate this game more?

Should I shoot up with heroin tonight?

That is the question.

why only heroin?
only if u plan on turning into a baseball superpowered X-Men X-Man
I'll be in Sacto by late June

and should be a call-up at the end if they don’t test me.

Late June? Those are some rubbish super powers.
Sign Kennedy to an extension!!

He’s playing well enough to hurt himself!

Haha!

True outcome.

Good night folks

It’s been…. fun?
You guys are fun. The team, not so much!

See?

We need you for those.

When did Eric Byrnes change sports?
I hope Jack Cust is our lone rep to the all star game this year!
So does my fantasy team, he'd have to have the best stats in the league to even sniff it.

Kurt Suzuki?

If he keeps this up, sure.

If he does though he’ll be one of the most valuable players in the league.

more likely to be Suzuki

Cust would be competing with AL DH/OF, Suzuki with catchers.

Funny thing about All Star teams

We’ve had teams in the past which were much better than this one but no obvious candidate for the All Star game. On the other hand, this year’s team is awful but we have three legitimate candidates. I think Cust totally deserves it, and both Suzuki and Bailey are perfectly respectable choices as well.

I feel like it's going to be Bailey only.

Unless Cust starts hitting for more power, he simply won’t have the numbers to make it as an outfielder.

Suzuki has a shot, but it’s going to be tough to beat Mauer, Victor Martinez, and Mike Napoli.

they'll choose at least 2 catchers
for the AL team, I mean -- perhaps 3
The only way I see him beating any of those three

is if Martinez gets knocked for not playing full time catcher or if Napoli starts getting fewer at bats because Vlad comes back and takes the DH.

Anyone else likely from Cleveland?

If the one-guy-per-team rule obliges them to pick Martinez that could make a difference.

Sizemore's hitting .220 with 7 HRs.

Cliff Lee is turning it around but it might be too late. I don’t think he makes it.
Martinez is hitting .401 with 7 HRs. Whether Sizemore makes it or he does not, Martinez should be voted in. He’s been playing some 1B so maybe he makes it as a 1B. But then Suzuki still has to beat out Napoli whose numbers are better, or hope they carry a 3rd catcher.

I want to see him in the home run derby

he would take 100 pitches

Denver Nuggets scheduled WWE for the same night

as game #4 at the Pepsi Center vs. the Lakers. What will they do?

Oh god, do I listen to the Angels broadcast team or the Mariners'.

Pick your poison.

Mariners for sure.
The Can of Corn guy irks me.
its time.......

for a new manager

BUT WHO?

Tony D. for the rest of the season
Ron Washington.

Oh, wait…

They sent him back to AAA

I assume he was not good enough in their opinions to coach up here?

He was HORRIBLE as 3B coach, I do not want that clown as a manager.
Because coaching third base has a lot to do with managing

He’s done pretty well in Sacramento, not that that automatically guarantees success in the Majors. We know that from watching some of our players.

(He also coaches third in Sacramento)
Geren did pretty well in Sacramento.

Tony D’s record in Sacramento is actually quite a bit better than “pretty well”. His winning percentage is something like 57% over five seasons.

he wasn't so successful with the ML club last year
This needs a poll.

So far I’m on board for Jamie Quirk, but I’m open to other suggestions.

I like him just for the name.
Just got home

we still suck right

Yes

It ain’t stopping soon either unfortunately

The A's have yet to get this memo.

Jeez the Yanks are bunting.

How the mighty have fallen.

If Lackey's 1st half doeon pitches are any indication

He is going to get slaughtered.

Fly ball deep for out

foul ball for close to homer

Hard hit single

That was a hard hit single that nearly bounced to the plate.
Griffey gets a single

His 2700th hit

So there's real baseball going on, is what you're trying to say.
All over, you just have to look for it. ;-)
Yeah, so I'm actually watching Minn/NYY

Its all I’ve got.

Which is funny,

because the NY BF is from MN.

And MN loses 7-6.

HATE the Yanks!

Some guy called Coke is stumbling through a save...
He managed.
Not quite sure how. He looked terrible.
He did...but when the pitching coach came out to talk to him,

he said “Yes, sir”.

And I don't know this kid,

but he looked to be about 16. It could very well be that our players don’t take this game seriously enough. I know it should be fun, but fun takes commitment too.

He's playing for the Yankees.

I get the feeling they take everything seriously over there.

And the A's need to do the same,

Maybe they are, and maybe they haven’t found their groove yet. I don’t know. I hope they find it soon.

I'm on the NexDef feed so I haven't seen that yet.

He’s looked terrible this year though.

Three runs in the first, and it lowered his ERA
Melissa Lockard will be talking A's minor league

on Extra Innings with Buan

I'm listening.
LFMAO

<img src=“”http://s78.photobucket.com/albums/j91/ryan_ackerman/?action=view&current=1242699886.jpg" target="_blank">Photobucket"/>OMG WFT WFT THE A’S SUCK :(
