I asked about the right room ’cause it seemed only you and Russ were here. I felt like I was walking in on my parents. Then I remembered I am of the same age as you two.
In the first round, a Wings fan tried to toss an octopus onto the Columbus ice and he was absolutely mauled by a group of Blue Jackets fans before he could launch that slimy seacreature over the glass. I applaud their efforts. Octopus is better off fried.
But look at what the Rays have done this weekend against the Indians who are just as bad as the A’s. I think the Rays have some kind of groove at home and it’s going to be pretty tough for the A’s to get even one victory in a four game set.
A’s lose 100 games in ‘09, Geren is moved to the front office as an assistant to the GM in the offseason which allows the A’s to hire a new manager. No way is Geren going to be fired, but this guy has to go.
Geren won’t be fired but moved somewhere in the organization. On another note, nobody liked Macha, but you have to like what he doing with the Brewers.
gloomy.
Leopold Bloom - May 17, 2009
RALLY THREAD!
Let’s Go Oakland!
lynnzgal - May 17, 2009
clap clap clapclapclap
Leopold Bloom - May 17, 2009
That's better.
lynnzgal - May 17, 2009
Am I in the right room?
67MARQUEZ - May 17, 2009
What are looking for?
Leopold Bloom - May 17, 2009
'shrooms
67MARQUEZ - May 17, 2009
oh, then, yes.
Leopold Bloom - May 17, 2009
You trying to tell me something?
lynnzgal - May 17, 2009
Do you have any?
67MARQUEZ - May 17, 2009
lol! No, I'm just naturally optimistic.
lynnzgal - May 17, 2009
That's even better.
I asked about the right room ’cause it seemed only you and Russ were here. I felt like I was walking in on my parents. Then I remembered I am of the same age as you two.
67MARQUEZ - May 17, 2009
You're like right in the middle.
lynnzgal - May 17, 2009
'shrooms?
yooouuu tuuuube
SwisherThresher - May 17, 2009
I think it's time to take this outside, with the radio and a glass of wine.
I’m going to make a window box. Boners!
alea iacta est - May 17, 2009
that sounds fun.
Leopold Bloom - May 17, 2009
hopefully. unless I nail my finger to the wall, or something
alea iacta est - May 17, 2009
don't do that.
nail the wood, not the flesh.
Leopold Bloom - May 17, 2009
Yeah,
leave the flesh nailing to MikeV.
lynnzgal - May 17, 2009
Please O Gods of the threads (Nico)
bring us a win today!
DaSwinginA's - May 17, 2009
Tigers still have four more runs to score.
Final score: Tigers 12 – A’s 6.
Coach Cleats - May 17, 2009
if that turns out to be the final score we'll burn you as a witch
stormtown - May 17, 2009
agrd.
Leopold Bloom - May 17, 2009
ah, safe now
stormtown - May 17, 2009
BUt
only if made of wood
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
Goody!
We haven’t had an auto da fe around here since Giambi failed to slide!
I’ll get the wood fires burning..
GreenNGoldSooner - May 17, 2009
I only report what I see.
14 runs on Friday, 9 yesterday, it’s gotta be 12 for the Tigers today.
Coach Cleats - May 17, 2009
Wrong.
67MARQUEZ - May 17, 2009
McLaughlin Group?
Leopold Bloom - May 17, 2009
CVGCVG
we’re not allowed to make fun of imbicles here, except for managers.
MobiusKlein - May 17, 2009
Community Violation Guidelines?
Nico - May 17, 2009
Did someone violate me?
lynnzgal - May 17, 2009
Well,
it’s a CGV to falsely claim CGVs, so I’m hedging.
MobiusKlein - May 17, 2009
Yay!
LoneStranger - May 17, 2009
Yay!
Leopold Bloom - May 17, 2009
whoah... get out of my mind.
LoneStranger - May 17, 2009
I'm shocked.
67MARQUEZ - May 17, 2009
Orlando!
lynnzgal - May 17, 2009
O Cab!!
Why couldn’t you do that earlier?!?!!?
gigglingone - May 17, 2009
Cabrera, Kennedy, Cust - murderers row
jdub69 - May 17, 2009
deadly.
Like being on Illinois and having your opponent own all the yellow, green and Park Place/Boardwalk with hotels…
Leopold Bloom - May 17, 2009
Cabrera's home run
That beats the crap out of inspirational speeches and exhortations to Cahill.
He also saved Coach Cleats from being burned as a witch.
bear88 - May 17, 2009
I love that guy.
Coach Cleats - May 17, 2009
Molina?
stormtown - May 17, 2009
oops, posted in the wrong spot!
stormtown - May 17, 2009
talking about giants?
Leopold Bloom - May 17, 2009
yep
stormtown - May 17, 2009
That is quite the list of credentials.
Leopold Bloom - May 17, 2009
Damn...guess I gotta put this thing out then....
GreenNGoldSooner - May 17, 2009
totally laughing!!
is that an outhouse on the top there?
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
It's a Texas A&M bonfire, so that thing on top is probably...
….a longhorn….or an Aggie who didn’t move quickly enough!
GreenNGoldSooner - May 17, 2009
Man
They don’t mess around with their bonfires, do they?
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
Okay Adam, I guess we'll keep ya.
lynnzgal - May 17, 2009
OMG...
Let’s hope the sleeping giant has awoken…..any sleeping giant – at this point I’m not particular
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
Hagrid?
LoneStranger - May 17, 2009
haha
DaSwinginA's - May 17, 2009
he's the funnest giant.
Leopold Bloom - May 17, 2009
if he bats .350 or better, yes!
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
I'd be happy if he just crowded the plate and racked up 200 HBP a year.
LoneStranger - May 17, 2009
Yeah....
that’d work, too!
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
Zito?
67MARQUEZ - May 17, 2009
There is one thing I hate and that is having a contact lense that
feels like it has a spec of sand under it and no matter how many times you clean it, the result is the same.
You might say, put a new one in?
I am out of them.
Oh well.
Trainman - May 17, 2009
Put a new eyeball in.
LoneStranger - May 17, 2009
I think Cust needs contact lenses
the way his BA has been plummeting.
Trainman - May 17, 2009
No, just a parachute.
LoneStranger - May 17, 2009
get dailies
stormtown - May 17, 2009
1 for 11 would be a good result Jack
0 for 10 so far in series so far
Trainman - May 17, 2009
Maybe not the 3-1 swing you want Cust to have against Zach Minor?
Nico - May 17, 2009
If somehow the A's ever retake the lead in this game,
whenever that is I think they should put Bailey in and say, “go get ’em.” I’m not kidding either.
Nico - May 17, 2009
I want to see a four inning save
jdub69 - May 17, 2009
That's a good plan
Too bad it is predicated on Oakland taking the lead.
sprtsnwyn - May 17, 2009
Supposed to reply to Nico
sprtsnwyn - May 17, 2009
yikes....he might hit for the cycle!
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
Do not want.
lynnzgal - May 17, 2009
Won't matter if A's hit for the win
MobiusKlein - May 17, 2009
True. True.
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
No offense to Polanco, but why isn't Santiago a starter?
He can swing it.
Coach Cleats - May 17, 2009
Damn it Casilla!
lynnzgal - May 17, 2009
Jai-no!
GreenNGoldSooner - May 17, 2009
Problem getting out number 3 today for these A's
jdub69 - May 17, 2009
Good move - you need to go to a lefty against Granderson here
Oh wait – WE DON’T HAVE ONE.
Nico - May 17, 2009
Why is mlb.tv suddenly advertising ump school in between each inning?
Are they expecting another umpire strike?
GreenNGoldSooner - May 17, 2009
Angel Hernandez would probably call it an umpire ball
Nico - May 17, 2009
a statement on the umps in the game generally???
or just an aging population….
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
Fireworks game - Yay!!
I’m there
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
shit
gigglingone - May 17, 2009
2009 A's = Teh Suxxor
GreenNGoldSooner - May 17, 2009
Russ Springer is awful as usual
Trainman - May 17, 2009
I.HATE.THIS.GAME.
While I love baseball…..with the A’s it’s a love/hate relationship.
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
Welcome to the game, Russ
Flashfire - May 17, 2009
A's pitching
Hitters wet dream
asfaninpismobeach - May 17, 2009
Wholesale Changes
Needed
Colorado Fan - May 17, 2009
I quit
somebody come get me when it’s spring 2010
polytician - May 17, 2009
I'm going to keep the A's game on in the background
Switching over the NBC, NHL Chicago @ Detroit. Go ’Hawks.
SwisherThresher - May 17, 2009
A's pitching is now garbage
to go along with A’s hitting and A’s defense.
Implode this team please
They are a disgrace to all fans who support them
Trainman - May 17, 2009
Man....I remained hopeful
for an inning or two.
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
Yeah.
lynnzgal - May 17, 2009
OUR HOUSES ARE WORTH MORE THAN YOURS!
stormtown - May 17, 2009
And they wonder why fans don't go to the games
Flashfire - May 17, 2009
yup, that sums it up! Who wants to go and watch a loss?
polytician - May 17, 2009
Cubs fans, I've heard
stormtown - May 17, 2009
Don't worry, everyone -
Ryan Sweeney will develop to be just like Granderson. Really, he will.
Nico - May 17, 2009
How long will it take???
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
Right after we trade him.
LoneStranger - May 17, 2009
this is now officially
the worst team since about 1996. When does Billy exit stage left? Doubt he’ll be here much beyond next year.
jasonthea - May 17, 2009
Yes, please!
Nico - May 17, 2009
This team will have a chance with Beane takes Geren with him
Would you be upset at that Nico?
Trainman - May 17, 2009
Zach Minor is the luckiest bastard in the world.
Coach Cleats - May 17, 2009
We certainly haven't contributed to his deliquency
Nico - May 17, 2009
C'mon G!
Time for #400!
lynnzgal - May 17, 2009
alright guys, I'm way too hungover to be here
but I heard Jordin Sparks is performing!
Amnesiac - May 17, 2009
Let's go Landon
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
2 on, no outs
NO RUNS
Trainman - May 17, 2009
I was just gonna say the same thing.
Yuck
jdub69 - May 17, 2009
This team is hard to watch
Crosby makes it almost impossible for me to watch.
asfaninpismobeach - May 17, 2009
Tired of them striking out
Just tired.
MobiusKlein - May 17, 2009
Eeerily quiet here....
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
thought I'd take a tour of other SB Nation sites and see who's as depressed as we are
the Indians fans, maybe?
stormtown - May 17, 2009
Lucas Fench? Really?
Coach Cleats - May 17, 2009
I mean French? Really?
Coach Cleats - May 17, 2009
What'dya think coach said to him???
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
Your facing some really shitty hitters
just throw it over the plate and you should have no problem
asfaninpismobeach - May 17, 2009
Pitch to them
It’s the A’s after all.
MobiusKlein - May 17, 2009
Don't pull a "Springer".
Coach Cleats - May 17, 2009
GreenNGoldSooner - May 17, 2009
No Idea but if Leyland was coaching the A's
I would bet all the money in the bank that we would not be the bunch of losers that are masquerading as baseball players and defrauding A’s fans.
He would not tolerate the inept losers.
Trainman - May 17, 2009
I'm sorry, how exactly are we being defrauded?
alea iacta est - May 17, 2009
Ask Billy
he has all the answers to that one.
Trainman - May 17, 2009
Leyland put up with a bunch of losers last year with the Tigers.
I think you’d lose that bet.
jdub69 - May 17, 2009
He certainly would rip them a new one
Doubt if he would sit there and make excuses for them like Geren would
Trainman - May 17, 2009
You have a point there
jdub69 - May 17, 2009
WHAT???????????????????
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
Some more stellar defense, lol
asfaninpismobeach - May 17, 2009
C'mon Ziggy
Put ’em away
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
Ziggy gets the call with the pitch at the ankles.
The ump’s feeling sorry now for the A’s
jdub69 - May 17, 2009
Seems inconsistant, all game
I’ve seen pitcher low get called or not, seemingly at random.
MobiusKlein - May 17, 2009
Almost time for dinner and beers in Detroit
Ump wants this game over with
asfaninpismobeach - May 17, 2009
The ump wants to head down the street to Joe Louis Arena
It’s nice and cool rinkside
SwisherThresher - May 17, 2009
all the octopus you can eat!
stormtown - May 17, 2009
heh
In the first round, a Wings fan tried to toss an octopus onto the Columbus ice and he was absolutely mauled by a group of Blue Jackets fans before he could launch that slimy seacreature over the glass. I applaud their efforts. Octopus is better off fried.
SwisherThresher - May 17, 2009
Sonnenstine just doubled in a run
I guess they did lose Longoria
Trainman - May 17, 2009
French needs to put a little mustard on it
Flashfire - May 17, 2009
Almost time to go watch the Laker game
Rotting against the Lakers and Angels can be downright rewarding
asfaninpismobeach - May 17, 2009
I am rooting against the slegnA of course and the Celtics
My friend is a fan of both and never lets me forget it.
Trainman - May 17, 2009
Lakers start off the game on fire, up 8-0
jdub69 - May 17, 2009
Im watching
glad i didnt put any money on any games this weekend. I would have lost every bet, lol
asfaninpismobeach - May 17, 2009
I'm so glad this series is almost over.
brian.only - May 17, 2009
I bet TB is looking forward to us coming in
Trainman - May 17, 2009
Yup, that's four easy wins for the Rays.
Coach Cleats - May 17, 2009
Not ness, the A's are playing as streaky as it gets- Toronto was a 20 game winning team.
Unfortunately most of the streaks have been losing.
Detroit has a pretty powerful lineup that’s been under-performing IMHO.
brian.only - May 17, 2009
I hear ya...
But look at what the Rays have done this weekend against the Indians who are just as bad as the A’s. I think the Rays have some kind of groove at home and it’s going to be pretty tough for the A’s to get even one victory in a four game set.
Coach Cleats - May 17, 2009
If i was'nt an A's fan I'd agree 100% ;)
I wish our boys luck!
brian.only - May 17, 2009
We can limit their offensive output...
…by forfeiting the games.
That way they’ll only score a total of 36.
GreenNGoldSooner - May 17, 2009
Yep
The picks in the GOG should be interesting.
SInce most people pick with their heart.
Trainman - May 17, 2009
If only this team would play with some.
lynnzgal - May 17, 2009
Who made the error?
pam5981 - May 17, 2009
Beane
MobiusKlein - May 17, 2009
Us. We should have gone to spend this beautiful day on something else a long time ago.
LoneStranger - May 17, 2009
so true. Don't go nuts while I'm out.
MobiusKlein - May 17, 2009
Cabrera
lynnzgal - May 17, 2009
they're acting like we're gonna score us a bunch of runs.....
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
Well that was an unusual DP
GreenNGoldSooner - May 17, 2009
Just the way they planned it
jdub69 - May 17, 2009
that was nice
there’s always something worth watching in a game, huh
alea iacta est - May 17, 2009
Well said.
Almost makes up for not having a witch burning after the game.
GreenNGoldSooner - May 17, 2009
when did that get cancelled?
I’ve spent all morning making a torch!
dammit!
alea iacta est - May 17, 2009
Alright, we start the comeback now!
jdub69 - May 17, 2009
I'll vote for that
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
Detroit loves us
Zonis - May 17, 2009
That was too easy
jdub69 - May 17, 2009
and too predictable
Trainman - May 17, 2009
Why do the A's hate us?
Zonis - May 17, 2009
Because we pay attention while they are losing...
brian.only - May 17, 2009
I miss people complaining about the negativity of the game threads!
We’re as negative as we’ve ever been. Where are the complaints?
Get off your butts, you slacker optimists out there!
GreenNGoldSooner - May 17, 2009
Quit Complaing!
brian.only - May 17, 2009
*ing ;)
brian.only - May 17, 2009
*ining....no?
GreenNGoldSooner - May 17, 2009
We're NOT Gunna Die!
We’re already dead.
Zonis - May 17, 2009
Zombies!
GreenNGoldSooner - May 17, 2009
Zonis - May 17, 2009
I cashed my optimism check and
now I’m broke!!!
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
I'm overdrawn.
lynnzgal - May 17, 2009
I have lots of Optimism in the Bank
but they are all in 30 Year Untouchable Bonds.
Zonis - May 17, 2009
yknow, actually, it's more depressing to read these game threads than watch the games, at the moment
and if something’s not fun, what’s the point in doing it?
alea iacta est - May 17, 2009
Good point.
I’ve been asking myself that a lot lately.
lynnzgal - May 17, 2009
You're so right.
I’m just not going to grade these papers and exams!
GreenNGoldSooner - May 17, 2009
Burning Bailey
Zonis - May 17, 2009
Total waste
Probaby Geren figures we won’t need him in TB as we won’t have a lead
Trainman - May 17, 2009
Texas had 2 on and no outs in a 0-0 game
and failed to score against Weaver who has only given up 1 hit.
Trainman - May 17, 2009
I think theres something in the water in Detroit
Zonis - May 17, 2009
yeah
something in the…ice?
SwisherThresher - May 17, 2009
Ack! I just realized
it’s a day game on the East coast.
Did I miss anything?
iglew - May 17, 2009
You're funny
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
Miss anything in the game threads, I mean.
I can see the score in the game.
iglew - May 17, 2009
No,
we are properly subdued.
lynnzgal - May 17, 2009
all the suckiness starting to rub off even on Bailey!
2 walks in inning
jdub69 - May 17, 2009
I take it back. Bailey K's two in a row to end the inning.
jdub69 - May 17, 2009
Crosby, Powell, Hannahan
how many pinch hitters do we have on the bench?
Zonis - May 17, 2009
It's been so long...
I forgot. WHo’s our closer?
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
That is an excellent question
jdub69 - May 17, 2009
No. Who's on first!
GreenNGoldSooner - May 17, 2009
I don't know.
Zonis - May 17, 2009
Third Base!
GreenNGoldSooner - May 17, 2009
I had to show that to my daughter
on YouTube so she’d get the cultural reference!
BERRYJO - May 17, 2009
Suzuki, for one
jdub69 - May 17, 2009
Hamilton makes incredible catch
to rob Kendrick of 2 run double.
Smashes into wall and holds on
Best catch this year IMO
Trainman - May 17, 2009
Mini Sirloin Burger Rally?
Kuiper’s got it.
Zonis - May 17, 2009
once again, not longgg enough bobby
ak_A - May 17, 2009
13-21?
:-(
lynnzgal - May 17, 2009
3rd worst start in history
according to KK
This season is so done it’s not even funny. In fact it pisses me off
Trainman - May 17, 2009
okay my day is complete
ak_A - May 17, 2009
Misery ended!
brian.only - May 17, 2009
Well, that was an exciting eight minutes.
iglew - May 17, 2009
Should Billy fire Geren....
or himself?
jasonthea - May 17, 2009
He could fire me
if it would help…
tosk - May 17, 2009
The owner should send Billy to run the soccer
and fire Geren himself.
Trainman - May 17, 2009
Here's the deal...
A’s lose 100 games in ‘09, Geren is moved to the front office as an assistant to the GM in the offseason which allows the A’s to hire a new manager. No way is Geren going to be fired, but this guy has to go.
Coach Cleats - May 17, 2009
really...
why wouldn’t Beane fire Geren if Geren was the reason for all of these losses?
tosk - May 17, 2009
How do you fire the best man at your wedding?
Not happening.
Coach Cleats - May 17, 2009
You and I may have different ideas of Billy Beane
but I think Billy Beane would fire his mother if it would win 3 more games.
tosk - May 17, 2009
Only if his mother...
…was overvalued by the market.
GreenNGoldSooner - May 17, 2009
I can only wish! But I think Billy is really loyal to Geren.
Coach Cleats - May 17, 2009
SO Sad
because that is why we will never go anywhere until Geren goes.
Trainman - May 17, 2009
See my recap for my opinion. :-)
Nico - May 17, 2009
And you are right on.
Geren won’t be fired but moved somewhere in the organization. On another note, nobody liked Macha, but you have to like what he doing with the Brewers.
Coach Cleats - May 17, 2009
This might be a tremendous sacrifice....
…but Mrs. Beane should break the cycle of suckitude and sleep with Geren.
GreenNGoldSooner - May 17, 2009
GAME RECAP IS UP
Well…not exactly a game recap…
