Being an Oakland A's season ticket holder, I received a letter in the mail from the Superior Court of Alameda County concerning a suit brought against the A's & Macy's
Seems that the two parties offended Mr. Rava's s sensibilities when on May 8, 2004 in addition to paying tribute to all "moms" in attendance, sponsoring a breast cancer awareness and fundraising program, free mammograms to underserved women in the Bay area including a pre-game 5krun in which all proceeds were donated to the Carol Franc Buck Breast Cancer Fund had the audacity to give reversible bucket hats to the first 7,500 women.
Tha last act frosted Mr. Rava's hide to the extent that he filed a discrimination suit against the A's & Macy's.
A settlement of $510,000 was reached....$260,000 which wnet to the attorneys. the rest will be divided up between 2,500 men who enroll in the settlement. You have to be able to prove 1. you are a male and 2. you attended the game.
"The "Net Settlement Amount" distributable to eligible Class members is expressly set at the specific amount of $250,000. The Net Settlement Amount is comprised of $100 in total value per timely and valid claimant up to a maximum of 2,500 men allocated and paid as follows : $50 in cash, payable first form any unpaid amount of the $260,00 described above and thereafter on 50/50 basis form the A's and macy's (i.e. $25 from the A's and $25 from Macy's and (ii) $50 in script ($25 in A's tickets on a 2 for1 basis and $25 macy's discount coupons "
Whatever that means.
You have to prove that you were one of the fist 7,500 fans to arrive at the game.

People really are pathetic.
OldhamA - May 14, 2009
Terrible
A’s try and do something good and some idiot has an issue…..
My mom had breast cancer, I cannot fathom doing something like this. Bums me out hearing crap like this.
Colorado Booze Hounds - May 14, 2009
you know, with a voodoo doll and a lock of his hair,
we can give HIM breast cancer. that would be just desserts, wouldn’t it?
Gaijin_Suketto - May 14, 2009
I prefer strawberry shortcake,
but I’m open to trying new things I guess.
Nico - May 14, 2009
Screw him
I’ve seen stuff like this before where people bitch and moan because they weren’t able to get a giveaway item. If it’s not complaining about something women get, it’s complaining about something just kids get.
Some people need to get over it and stop wasting money and resources on frivolous crap.
Flashfire - May 14, 2009
I think the same guy tried to pull the same stunt with the Angels
with them it was a promotional giveaway for kids.
Class Act.

Good catch. That's what I remembered, and Rava was involved with it as well.

Actually, the link I found is also for a Mother's Day thing

Any word on who this guys' scum bag attorneys were? As a member of the CA bar his
attorneys are truly disgusting.
33SwisherSweet - May 14, 2009
I think the attorney is doing this
all over the state. Piece of shit. The A’s do a good thing for a good cause, and some scum bag uses it as a pretext to make a buck. All I can say is that if Karma is a bitch, then this guy has something very special coming to him.
alox - May 14, 2009
One word for this guy
Asshole
sirbed - May 14, 2009
I got that one too
And just in time (almost for Mother’s Day)
Probably won’t happen much more:
“Subsequent to the mediated Settlement, a California State Court of Appeal ruled that a Mothers Day promotion nearly identical to the Mothers Day promotion in this case is not unlawful.”
(from second paragraph of the “Background of the case” of the notice)

What do you call 100 lawyers at the bottom of the lake?
A good start.
redtopcowboy - May 15, 2009
What do you call people who run to a lawyer after the slightest fender bender, random fall, . . .?
Everyone.
Ray of Lite - May 15, 2009
There was a dead lawyer and a dead snake in the road. What was the only difference?
Skid marks in front of the snake.
Flashfire - May 15, 2009
Damn you, legal aid attorneys, public defenders, prosecutors and all you other scumbag lawyers trying to get rich off the system.
Ray of Lite - May 15, 2009
From readding the link, looks like old Alfred was the attorney in the Anaheim case.
What, does he go from stadium to stadium?
Imaseasonticketholder - May 15, 2009
yes,
and in between, he falls down a lot in grocery stores
Gaijin_Suketto - May 15, 2009
Wow, what a douchebag
