Ziegler and Outman have kept the A's in the game, as we move on to the twelfth inning. The A's have wasted chances all over the board in the late innings; looking for ONE BIG HIT.
Game tied 7-7.

I feel compelled to remind you all that this game started at 10 this morning
…just as I complain about pinch-running for Cust, a new threat opens up. Oh well. Basically, how ’bout we let Cust (our best hitter) stay in some games.
These pitchers on the Yankees are pretty awful so far this season. So unless this is a horrible coincidence that they all turned it around at the same time, this is just a horrible effort by our hitters.
But indeed you are correct now that I check. Still, he only pitched one inning yesterday and he’s stretched out as a starter and he won’t be starting for a while so I’d think he could go more than 1 inning.
The management of Sean Gallagher is really pissing me off
Whether it’s Beane’s decision or Geren’s decision, this just-let-a-good-prospect rot attitude is not something I’d expect from a supposedly smart front office.
The team has no confidence in Gallagher, and yet they keep running Dan Geise out there? He did everything he possibly could to lose the game the other day before finally succeeding.
Heck of start to the season huh? The A’s need bench players who can stay healthy if their going to have Chavez on the team. Nomar should retire and Crosby should be cut.
When Giambi is pissing and whining from having to stand in the field too much, sit him the fuck down and let Nomar or Powell play 1B, since apparently Powell isn’t going to catch at all and Suzuki is going to be dead in 8 months.
But I really like having that type of guy as the last guy on my bench….With so many slow guys on the team, I like that he can be used late in close games to run for them and I like him patrolling CF. I think Rajai is the least of our concerns..maybe his role needs to be a tad more defined and not starting, but I like him a lot as a weapon as the 25th dude.
When we were in the midst of that awful 10+ game losing streak. At least back then though I knew it was coming since we had sold off Harden, Blanton, etc. Right now I’m supposed to be optimistic, but it just isn’t there.
How much more time does Geren get here? This is his 3rd season and the last 3 guys who held this job all had sucess while Geren has done nothing but lose. He seems like a nice guy but maybe that’s not what this team needs.
I feel compelled to remind you all that this game started at 10 this morning

5) DFA Crosby
6) Fire Geren
Trainman - April 22, 2009

I should have said Move Cust to second in lineup
Trainman - April 22, 2009
What? No play for Buck?
bababooey - April 22, 2009
I think that comes along with DFA Rajai.
Holliday/Sweeney/Buck outfield.
Giambi 1B
Cust DH
When Giambi is pissing and whining from having to stand in the field too much, sit him the fuck down and let Nomar or Powell play 1B, since apparently Powell isn’t going to catch at all and Suzuki is going to be dead in 8 months.
mikev - April 22, 2009
Yes, he should be playing
Trainman - April 22, 2009
DFA Rajai?
Why? Nice value to play defense late and pinch run…..I dont see any issue with him as your 5th OF.
You want to cut and DFA all these guys…who the hell would you like to have instead?
OaktownPower - April 22, 2009
Agreed
Rajai is a fine bench player.
Rebuilding Season - April 22, 2009
Someone who knows how to hit a baseball
None of the abovementioned have a clue
Trainman - April 22, 2009
Except he's not the 5th outfielder.
He should never start.
He should really never get to hit.
He can’t run the bases well.
He’s just fast. That’s it. He doesn’t have much of an arm. There’s basically ZERO reason to have him playing at all when Travis Buck is on the team.

+1
Rajai Davis is just not good enough at baseball to justify taking up a ML roster space.
doctorK - April 22, 2009
The fucking GIANTS cut him, for chrissakes.
mikev - April 22, 2009
The Giants cut him because they had no room
And a very similar player in Dave Roberts.
Rebuilding Season - April 22, 2009
That's not exactly support in Rajai's favor...
lenscrafters - April 22, 2009
Just me I guess.....
OaktownPower - April 22, 2009
I feel very similar to July of last season
When we were in the midst of that awful 10+ game losing streak. At least back then though I knew it was coming since we had sold off Harden, Blanton, etc. Right now I’m supposed to be optimistic, but it just isn’t there.
Rebuilding Season - April 22, 2009
(high nerdy voice) Hey, guys, how's the game going
as I had to step away for a while. Have we won yet?
ak_A - April 22, 2009
Why is Nomar not playing?
Bobby Crosby is a waste.
And even more, the A’s have yet to win without Nomar in the lineup.
He should have at least PH or DH.
Jesus.
Jen59 - April 22, 2009
He's hurt
Rebuilding Season - April 22, 2009
Since when?
Geren said he was fine on Monday.
Jen59 - April 22, 2009
Enough rope
How much more time does Geren get here? This is his 3rd season and the last 3 guys who held this job all had sucess while Geren has done nothing but lose. He seems like a nice guy but maybe that’s not what this team needs.

Jen59 - April 22, 2009
Strained quad.
baseballgirl - April 22, 2009
How did I miss this?
Shit.
Jen59 - April 22, 2009
Oh I see
“Nomar out today but will be in lineup Friday with calf stiffness.” Ah.
Jen59 - April 22, 2009
RECAP UP
It’s long and angry. Just a warning.
