Braden looked awesome through his 6+ innings, surrendering just two runs to the Red Sox offense. Wuertz finished off the seventh, and is fast becoming a bullpen favorite. The A's had one big inning, and a homer from Nomah; they're up 6-2.

come on Rajai
grounder to the right side plz
Zonis - April 13, 2009

Jjjsixsix - April 13, 2009

Hey! He swung!
baseballgirl - April 13, 2009
Productive out!
On an outside slider!!!
WaddellCanseco - April 13, 2009
Looks like my JerBear is getting to finish this one.
ZigFan31 - April 13, 2009
(hacks up a hairball)
Yuck!
baseballgirl - April 13, 2009
Cmon, you don't want him to pitch when it matters?
ZigFan31 - April 13, 2009
I was hacking at the nickname ;-)
baseballgirl - April 13, 2009
You need to switch to the anti-hairball formula.
ZigFan31 - April 13, 2009
Blevins
Okay, I can live with that.
Nick - April 13, 2009
Ya rather see Blevins throw then Zig in a non save situation
yawedout21 - April 13, 2009
In the pen?
cuppingmaster - April 13, 2009
I think Zooks is fixed by NOT swinging at the 3-1 pitch
He gets hits on non-strikes. That double was pretty.
Crosby looked good at his at-bat.
Rajai = Defense only
Why is BRAD warming up!?
baseballgirl - April 13, 2009
B-Rad?
Zonis - April 13, 2009
I think I’ve seen enough of Rajai Davis. Let’s see Cunningham already
ATLDuck - April 13, 2009
Cunningham has dislocated shoulder
Danwise134 - April 13, 2009
In Soviet Union, dislocated shoulder has you!
Nick - April 13, 2009
where's amonkey when you need him?
Leopold Bloom - April 13, 2009
I thought it was that in soviet russia
shoulder dislocates you
ElQuesoCapitan - April 13, 2009
Unrefuted.
I think the original point stands.
149 - April 13, 2009
Cunningham has a dislocated shoulder
Nick - April 13, 2009
Creepy
baseballgirl - April 13, 2009
I bet Cunningham is not happy about his dislocated shoulder
baseballgirl - April 13, 2009
dumbest play ive seen
He was out by a long shot and then just tried to hit the catcher…horrible on the coaches part to have sent him…on his part to try to hit the catcher who was posted up for like 2 seconds waiting for him
yawedout21 - April 13, 2009
Shot who in the what now?
Elvez - April 13, 2009
It would have to be Denorfia
WaddellCanseco - April 13, 2009
did Rajai have a good spring?
yawedout21 - April 13, 2009
Yes
drink409 - April 13, 2009
For him
WaddellCanseco - April 13, 2009
Yes
Which is why ST stats should be completely ignored.
doctorK - April 13, 2009
for sure
but we all dont really expect Rajai to play everyday or be very productive when he does we are expecting him to pinch run and play defense while seeing very few at bats
yawedout21 - April 13, 2009
He had a GREAT spring

Im going to resume advocating for the Chris Denorfia/Ryan Sweeney Platoon

He is full time. He's in RF vs lefties.

I’ve no confidence in Gallagher or Blevins right now.
WaddellCanseco - April 13, 2009
It's a six run lead!
When ELSE can they pitch?
baseballgirl - April 13, 2009
When it's a six run deficit
WaddellCanseco - April 13, 2009
we should send gallagher to AAA until he develops the ability to throw a strike

149 - April 13, 2009
with gallagher's stuff, he's all or nothing
when he’s not throwing strikes and his pitches have no movement (like currently), he’s no good to anyone. He needs to go back down to AAA and get in some work
thashyt - April 13, 2009
You're basing this on....?
He’s only pitched one inning this season….so unless you’re saying you secretly on all his bullpen sessions….
lenscrafters - April 13, 2009
secretly spy*
lenscrafters - April 13, 2009
i was going by what i was reading about spring training
thashyt - April 13, 2009
Which begs the question
Why would the A’s put him on the roster if he’s virtually incapable of pitching well (like you’re suggesting)?
lenscrafters - April 13, 2009
To let Young work with him personally?
WaddellCanseco - April 13, 2009
Ah yes, the magic of Curt Young's tutorial is enough to correct all of Gallagher's many (according to thashyt) maladies
It’s definitely enough to be worth wasting a roster spot on.
lenscrafters - April 13, 2009
wow....
Gallagher has good stuff, we saw flashes of it last year, but from what I was reading about spring training, nothing was going his way. He couldn’t throw strikes and his pitches were flat. I think, since as you mentioned, he’s not pitching anyway right now, he should go somewhere where he can get some reps in at game situations
thashyt - April 13, 2009
So basically you're saying Beane and co made a huge mistake in putting him on the roster?
lenscrafters - April 13, 2009
not necessarily,
he’s the long reliever on the staff, which is important when you have as much inexperience as we have in our rotation. But I think if you want him to be a starter eventually, you should give him something to work on and let him work. But I’m just a fan, Billy’s the GM. It’s his job to make these decisions, not mine. I’m just making a comment on a fanwebsite, not trying to slander Beane and Co. so i don’t know why you’re taking it so seriously…
thashyt - April 13, 2009
I'm not.
Basically I’m just wondering why you believe a guy has no ability to pitch (based on what you “read”) at the moment when by his very inclusion on the roster, management seems to believe otherwise.
lenscrafters - April 13, 2009
