After Trevor Cahill (or K-Hill, if you prefer) turned in a sparkling performance yesterday in his three innings, adding to his hype, the pressure is now on new A's pitcher Edgar González, as he throws against Jarrod Washburn and the Mariners in today's game.
According to Wikipedia, RHP González (from Mexico) signed with Arizona in 2000, but was placed on the suspended list when he didn't report for assignment in the Dominican Republic. He made his MLB debut with Arizona in 2003; the youngest pitcher in baseball at the time; at 20 years old. González bounced between AAA and the big leagues from 2003 to 2006, but was on the Diamondbacks in 2007 out of the bullpen, and 2008 as a replacement starter.

Let's go Oakland!
Geren now saying Crosby will need to play all positions in the IF and perhaps spelling Cust in the OF as well
OaklandSi - March 6, 2009
really? Wow, I wonder what Crosby thinks of that?
micdog2001 - March 6, 2009
That was weird.
The thread was there.. .then gone… then back again.
mikev - March 6, 2009
Sorry! I went to edit the lineups, and it closed all comments...
…I didn’t think that would work well for a game thread.
baseballgirl - March 6, 2009
Don't scare me like that.
Actually… hold me.
:D
HI BBG!
mikev - March 6, 2009
HI MIKE!!!!
I have no idea what is up with AN…was being a PITA, so I deleted and started over. Sometimes that’s just the best way.
baseballgirl - March 6, 2009
I agree.
mikev - March 6, 2009
mikev is sometimes a PITA.
pam5981 - March 6, 2009
You wanna piece of me?
I’ll have to fight you one handed since I almost cut my thumb off last night, but I’m feeling feisty. BRING IT.
(Hi Pam.)
mikev - March 6, 2009
I saw the pic. Grossed me out! Hope you're feeling better though.
pam5981 - March 6, 2009
if oakinboston comments in bbg's fANpOsT and nobody gets to see it
did it actually happen?
oakinboston - March 6, 2009
huh
and before that: the deleted Seahawk-guy post.
2 days of my AN life just got erased.
oakinboston - March 6, 2009
Is your bottle of Wessen half-empty?
LoneStranger - March 6, 2009

DUCHSCHERER UPDATE
from Slusser
In another note, Justin Duchscherer is back from Los Angeles and he said Dr. Lewis Yocum has recommended the same course of action as the A’s medical staff, along with a stronger inflammatory medication. Duchscherer won’t throw again until Monday, but he said if he is improved at that point, he believes he can get ready for the season quickly and be ready for Opening Night.
mikev - March 6, 2009
I'll believe it when I see it, but damn that's good news.
baseballgirl - March 6, 2009
ditto
OaklandSi - March 6, 2009
I don't know what the best news in that report is
The thought that Duchscherer may not be hurt that bad, or the fact that an actual expert agreed with the opinion of the A’s medical staff. Both are exciting developments.
OkayJay81 - March 6, 2009
+1
micdog2001 - March 6, 2009
Yocum's the top guy in his field, right?
Not that I don’t trust him or anything…
OldhamA - March 6, 2009
I believe that would be "anti"-inflammatory...
but with our medical staff you never know.
skigurl - March 6, 2009
LOL.
pam5981 - March 6, 2009
(Experiencing Rich Harden flashbacks)
CarGon's Jock - March 6, 2009

OaklandSi - March 6, 2009
Sorry, meant to say three!
baseballgirl - March 6, 2009
So when will Cabrera and Nomar get into a game?
lenscrafters - March 6, 2009
wonder how Cabrera feels after driving from the east coast
OaklandSi - March 6, 2009
Very silly when he could have flown...
OldhamA - March 6, 2009
then his ams would have been tired
A'sfaninNC - March 6, 2009
why would he drive?
chuckcheeze - March 6, 2009
He's only making 4m. Gotta make ends meet.

Is your house made of rubber?
ElQuesoCapitan - March 6, 2009
the a's are trying to encourage fans to move to san jose
xbhaskarx - March 6, 2009
it was going in and out for me driving around oakland
pam5981 - March 6, 2009
I've had no trouble driving around Oakland with the signal
at home I get the annoying AM buzz that I get with many stations.
The tallest building on my block has 13 ATT microwave antennas — they often surge and the buzz makes it iimpossible to listen to AM stations at home! (Not to mention what it’s doing to my insides.)
OaklandSi - March 6, 2009
Same here
It comes in OK in my car, but loud hum/buzz here at home. Even with a movable AM antenna I can’t seem to get rid of the buzz.
skigurl - March 6, 2009
must be the lead in your house paint
rktse - March 6, 2009
That wouldn't surprise me

Wow! 5+ innings pitched, 1 ER, 5 K’s! Brilliant! Who cares about offense when you have pitching like this!
A'sfansince1970 - March 6, 2009
I still do!
Because instead of eeking out a 2-1 win, we can eek a 7-1 one
fruitattack - March 6, 2009

A'sfansince1970 - March 6, 2009

doublegee203 - March 6, 2009

Eastbayjim - March 6, 2009
so, others would tell you better than i
but i think mazzaro is Italian for ‘hammer’ (vb).
um. not sure what to make of this.
alea iacta est - March 6, 2009
I think it derives from "Mazza" or "mazzo"
which translates as a bunch or pack
OaklandSi - March 6, 2009
just checked, Hammer in Italian is "martello"
(like “martillo” in Spanish), but apparently “mazza” can also be used to mean a club like a golf club or a baseball bat.
OaklandSi - March 6, 2009
So we can call mazzaro
THE CLUBBER
ElQuesoCapitan - March 6, 2009
CLUBBER LANG
jeffro - March 6, 2009
Don't open up that can of worms.
OldhamA - March 6, 2009

gojohn10 - March 6, 2009

I don't think that's right
I have no idea for sure, but when I followed gameday earlier this spring they only showed the strikes
Helloooo 1st - March 6, 2009
Gameday is not at full capacity right now
It doesn’t keep track of all pitches. Every strike out is marked as 3 pitches, 4 for walks and 1 for every hit or out.
