Happy Friday!
Okay, so you can't all be finished with your shopping yet. And all of us should know a special person who is craving an A's gift this year. My discussion questions of the day are: What is the best A's gift you have received and what A's (or baseball) gift would you love to receive?
I'll go first. I think the best and most surprising gift that I have received was this painting, done by a friend of my parents. She had traveled to the Coliseum to paint this for me as a gift.
A gift that I always have wanted to receive was this (warning: adorable A's baby items link):

Keep in mind; I do not have a baby. I just think it's the most adorable thing on the planet. Any chance I can pretend it's wind chimes?
I had to add one more, just for fun. I am a huge A's fan, but even I have to admit; this might be going a little far:
(Yes, that's actually carpet.)
Feel free to discuss upcoming plans, vacations, presents, and all A's-related merchandise here.

the carpet, hands down
especially if it comes with that stunning woodwork, varnish and beige wall combo. (the painting is really nice, except for that macafee thing in the corner).
oaklidiot - December 18, 2009
maybe a lil of this on the top
oaklidiot - December 18, 2009
That carpet looked like vinyl at first.
Now that’d be tacky.
danmerqury - December 18, 2009
The carpet
reminds me of the awesome Stomper Home Depot commercial a few years back. “Pick me!” :)

Ditto
Sold.

Anyone have an A's Tat?
ryanmoser - December 18, 2009
LOL...
I was going to get one!!!!
MMunoz33 - December 18, 2009
maybe.
Leopold Bloom - December 18, 2009
I love the A's but....
no tatoos for me. Maybe I’ll get an A’s logo pin for my belly ring.
sirbed - December 18, 2009
I'm going to get a large one on my back
of Jack Cust sliding into home. CMON!
bobnothing - December 18, 2009
I almost got one, too
of Crosby breaking (pick any bone) sliding into (pick any base).
OaklandNative - December 19, 2009
I have a design that I've almost finished
I went in for a consultation with a very good artist, and I was told it would be around $1500. So no, I don’t have an A’s tat.

My A's Christmas wish list;
Incentives loaded 2yr deal based on games played and plate appearances for our new DH;
Former slegnA known as “Big Daddy Vlad”. I want Rex Hudler to cream in his pants, with Vlad as comebacj player of the year and out to finish his personal agenda as he focus to slaughter the Angels for letting him go and what better team to do it with than the Oakland A’s…
Hey, it is my Christmas wish list! Heavily optomistic on Vlad being healthy…
MMunoz33 - December 18, 2009
I'm fairly certain mb got that mobile for little mb.
or was it sal?
Leopold Bloom - December 18, 2009
Does anyone else think that mobile makes it look like the elephants are being hanged?
Nick - December 18, 2009
I got it this year for my new baby, works like a charm
It puts him right to sleep

Andrew Bailey Jersey
A friend of mine wants an Andrew Bailey jersey…getting too late to get on on-line. Where’s the best place near El Cerrito to pick one up?
richwol1 - December 18, 2009
Bailey...
Do it on line and ship it straight to your friend.
Dr Pez - December 18, 2009
I don't want to do it on-line
I want to go to a real store.
richwol1 - December 18, 2009
Then try...
…Mary & Joe’s at San Pablo, south of Solano. Or Sports Authority. It may be tougher than you think, the fact that the A’s team stores aren’t open year round at the ballpark really make it challenging.
Dr Pez - December 18, 2009
I was in El Cerrito yesterday
33 revolutions cafe is closing down!
bobnothing - December 18, 2009
I left my wallet in El Cerrito.
Leopold Bloom - December 18, 2009
I left my heart in Fresno

Go Dogs!!
wacchampions - December 18, 2009
WOAH!
Wait. Elaborate. Huh? How? Why?
OaklandNative - December 19, 2009
My GF would kill me if I got this
But it would be worth it if I had $900 laying around
A’s Home Theater Recliner
cuppingmaster - December 18, 2009
Totally worth it, though.
The logo is removable.
OaklandNative - December 19, 2009
BBG, that painting is awesome! So cool that your friend did that for you!
Nick - December 18, 2009
Just got this as a gift last night
Kind of creepy
zaniac75 - December 18, 2009
yeah that is kind of creepy
is he going to throw that ball at me?
sirbed - December 18, 2009
You know I just thought about it
and I’m the only A’s fan I know. All my friends in California are either Giants or Dodger fans and members of my family are Giants fans.
Most of my friends outside of California are either Royals,Rangers or Cardinals fans so any A’s gift I buy would have to be for me.
I’m pretty sure my girlfriend would kick me out of the condo if I tried to put down A’s carpet so I might have to think smaller.
Since all the current players get traded within two years I don’t think I’ll go with a current player’s jersey. I have a Marcus Allen Raiders jersey (favorite football player) so I think maybe a Carney Lansford jersey would be cool. (favorite baseball player)
sirbed - December 18, 2009
Great Post!
MMunoz33 - December 18, 2009
Would LOVE for the A's to sign VLAD as the DH
VLADDY!…..Stick it to the Angles and sign with the A’s…..2 year…12 million….getter done!…
Crap….The M’s just unloaded Fat Boy C. Silva for Milton Bradley….I know bradley has “issues” but atleast he has a ton of talent….Silva is horrible….M’s are getting good….and fast
ryanmoser - December 18, 2009
Now Milton just needs to go to the Angels next year
and he’ll have played for the entire A.L. West.
sirbed - December 18, 2009
That's frightening
You should look for A’s facemasks or something and tell you don’t want to catch whatever makes them gnats fans
cuppingmaster - December 18, 2009
I know I love my friends and familiy
but the whole Giants fan stuff is a bit much. Of course they put up with me so I guess I’ll have to let it slide.
I actually stopped dating a woman my sophomore year when I found out she was a Broncos fan (well that and she was crazy but mostly because she was a Broncos fan).

A Zito replica away jersey
For my birthday. There are 3 reasons for why this is the “best”.
1. At the time, Zito was my favorite pitcher (I know he’s not the best, but I didn’t care, and he was still good then!).
2. He was still on the team (04 or 05, I think it was).
3. It’s the ONLY A’s-related gift I’ve ever been given.
I’ve bought myself plenty of A’s related merchandise, but those were more “I need that” or “Hey, I’d like to have that” as opposed to “This is my Xmas gift to myself”.
Then again, do you REALLY need a reason to get A’s stuff?
Kaiser99 - December 18, 2009
Kind of a different take....
I’ve got closets and drawers stuffed with A’s themed apparel. My kids and wife buy me A’s stuff for Christmas, Fathers day, my birthday, etc etc all the time. It’s gotten to the point that I’m constantly wearing some sort of A’s swag on a daily basis.
But I don’t mind.
alox - December 18, 2009
I had a friend who lives far away make a comment recently
That in every photo he has seen of me in the past several years, and every time we have gotten together, he has only seen me in A’s gear.
I took it as a compliment.

A's jersey bottle coozee
I have the best wife in the world. For Christmas, she gave me a set of these A’s jersey bottle coozees:
Now, I look forward to my evening beer more than ever…
nickolai - December 18, 2009
Those are for bottles? Oops...
Nick - December 18, 2009
LOL!
lynnzgal - December 18, 2009
because there's only one O in cozy
nick, you were (probably) doing the right thing. and nickolai, even a set, if only at the end of the year, might not qualify her the best wife in the world.
just saying.
AV - December 18, 2009
I thought it was Lance Armstrong's
OK, bad joke
easyraider - December 18, 2009
It's not officially an A's product... but it's perfect for an Oakland fan.
I got this t-shirt as a gift, and I wear it everytime New York is in town.

the_rozeboom - December 18, 2009
i
want that shirt!
Twan54321 - December 18, 2009 via mobile
I bought my brother
the khaki shorts, the tie and the DVD from the site this year.
Leopold Bloom - December 18, 2009
Last year for my birthday
LongTimeFan gave me the best gift — the chance to be her “plus one” at a meet-and-greet with rickey, stew, rudi, and campy at a very, very small gathering at the coliseum. Died and gone to heaven, that was me. I’ll never forget it.
skigurl - December 18, 2009
How about a Uni Watch membership card with an A's uniform theme?
More on Uni Watch memberships here. (And, no, that’s not my card and I don’t have one…this was just the first A’s-themed one I found on their flickr stream.)
GreenNGoldSooner - December 18, 2009
i'm still upset with myself
for leaving Modell’s in NYC w/o my A’s statue of liberty. I didn’t want to carry it around the city with me all day, and was going to return for it later, but forgot it. And I haven’t been able to find one since, other than the life size one at the coliseum.
sf drift king - December 18, 2009
My wife bought me a personalized A's jersey with my last name on it for my birthday
I love my Bill King calling Hattybergs HR to win the 20th game of the streak bottle opener (which gets used rarely since I don’t drink beer)
One year my sister bought one of those giant foam A’s cowboy hats while at the game and somehow hid it under her sweater without me noticing (perhaps I was paying too much attention to the game and my girlfriend)
I also have a ton of A’s T-shirts and usually when I’m wearing a t-shirt it is an A’s one.
I love the season recap videos from the late 80’s and early 2000’s, I miss seeing those. I don’t think they have made one since 2002 or something, they should have made one for 2006. I also have the A’s World Series collection DVD.
I use my A’s freezer mug all the time, my wife dropped it on accident and it broke but I just bought a new one from Amazon for $5.
And it’s not the A’s but for my bachelor party all my friends signed a baseball for me.
Oh, oh, oh, who else had those photo cards that you get for buying a newspaper at the game? My room at my parents house used to be covered with those.
micdog2001 - December 18, 2009
Last year, for my 40th
which was also the A’s 40th in Oakland (almost to the day), my co-workers got me over $200 in mlb.com gift cards…which was all spent on the A’s.
Also every year, my wife gets me the Extra Innings package for my birthday…which coincides with the start of the season.
What would I like to get? Catch the A’s next season at Wrigley with my two boys.
easyraider - December 18, 2009
Ditto!
lynnzgal - December 18, 2009
In 1975 I received an A's pocketwatch. The fob was a small A's batting helmet
It’s sort of cheap & plastic, but it has the A’s logo with “the swingin’ A’s” written in italic script across the face. Almost 40 years later, it still works.
My Christmas gift? A site full of committed A’s followers who speculate, argue, celebrate all things green & gold, 365 days a year.
JJ Martin - December 18, 2009
There's a Rotowire blurb about the Gnats being interested in Cust
My A’s-related gift, then, would be for them to sign him, so we can have many good laughs next year watching him “play” right field, and listening to the Gnats fans complaining about all the strickouts.
doctorK - December 18, 2009
This is what I'm subtly hinting for this year
Wouldn’t mind some of that gaudy carpet either lol
Daniel777 - December 18, 2009
I really, really want this
It is ridiculously priced, though.
