Well the tease was on in the 9th, but thanks in part to a 6-4-3 double play off the bat of Derek Jeter, there will be at least one more baseball game in 2009.
Chase Utley homered twice, the second one providing insurance the Phillies ultimately needed, and Cliff Lee, even in human form, was good enough to send this Series back to New York.
Utley joins Reggie Jackson as the only men to hit five home runs in a single Series.
See you Wednesday.

caught the score in the 4th at SeaTac
and enjoyed seeing the replays upon getting home a bit ago. Looking forward to more baseball.

Lol!
67M? What did you do with tonight’s game threads?
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
The Yankees probably took them
didn’t want any proof that this game ever existed….
Jeter? A double play???

Re: Jeter? A double play?
Don’t worry. The tabloids will clean it up.

I always remove them from the front page, dear.
Usually I wait until the next day though.
67MARQUEZ - November 3, 2009
really? This is the first time I've seen a game thread disappear so soon...
OaklandSi - November 3, 2009
Something seems different.
67MARQUEZ - November 3, 2009
May I start the complaining? I don't like change.
The headlines are too big. Also there is much less green and gold — the background of the site is all white. That is sad.
whiteshoes40 - November 3, 2009
I agree about the headlines
Also, my neck hurts and I’m out of stir fry sauce.

It looks unfinished.
Like there’s a style sheet missing or something.
mikev - November 3, 2009
people who reply to themselves are assholes.
that said — the fanpost/fanshot area having the exact same color background as the “nothing” sidebars on each side of the page kinda make the fanpost/fanshots blend into nothing…
Are the changes all finished or are they still in process?
mikev - November 3, 2009
Ack.
Yeah, not exactly a fan. There’s too much white/gray. I understand that they were trying to make everything look like the new SBN home page, but I miss the color. It has the unfortunate side effect of making the AN logo image look like an afterthought, stuck on the page like it doesn’t fit.
danmerqury - November 3, 2009
People who reply to themselves are indeed assholes.
And the font size is a bit bigger. Boo.
danmerqury - November 3, 2009
At the risk of sounding like an IT asshole again (oops, too late)
Was this beta tested at all, or at least shown to a pilot group to get feedback before making the change?
One wonders.

On the plus side
As promised, pages load VERY quickly in Safari now. Will have to see if the stylesheets are firewall-approved at work tomorrow.

Nice recap
Fugly layout

Jeter is so brilliant
He batted into a double play, so they could win in New York.
jahs34 - November 3, 2009
