The champs are on the ropes, they're hopes hanging by a Cliff.
Meanwhile the evilest of empires is 27 outs from its 27th conquest, or the same amount as the White Sox, Braves, Twins, Orioles, Phillies, Indians, Cubs, Marlins, Blue Jays, Mets, Royals, Angels, Diamondbacks, Padres, Astros, Rockies, Brewers, Rays, Rangers, Nationals, and Mariners...combined.
Either this thing goes back to the Bronx or for the sixth straight season a Series ends in less than six games.

it's quiet in here
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
It's still commute time in many places in the Bay
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
my commute consists of walking 15 ft to the elevator
riding it to the 2nd floor and then walking 20 ft to my apartment front door :-)
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
Wow....you're lucky or smart for living close to work! Unless your living space is also your working space
I which case you’re still smart for setting it up like that!!
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
He lives in his mom's basement,
and his job is to paint the basement.
Nico - November 2, 2009
My Mom doesn't have a basement
she has a garage. Where are you from, tornado country? :-)
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
Yes. Specifically, California.
Nico - November 2, 2009
I remember in 4th grade there was a dust devil in the school baseball field during recess
all the kids were freaked out because they though it was a tornado.
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
Soon after a series of pit bull attacks noted in the media,
I was walking my golden lab / beagle mix and a child looked scared and asked, “Is that a bull pit?” Very cute.
Nico - November 2, 2009
I'm an on-site apartment manager
not a bad gig.
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
Ahhhh. That explains it!
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
A commute without a bridge
Kind of like 6 characters in search of an author.
Nico - November 2, 2009
Phillies be damned if they let the Yankees celebrate #27 there
Hit4TheCycle - November 2, 2009
1-0 already
even Cliff Lee might not be enough :-(
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
Just got here
GO PHILLIES.
a) because I like you
b) because I hate the Yankees and most of all,
c) because I’m not ready for baseball to be over.
Englishmajor - November 2, 2009
I approve of all three of your conditions
JLaff - November 2, 2009
i called it again!!!!!
OakA'sHoney - November 2, 2009
That's the way, Chase!
Englishmajor - November 2, 2009
Utley!!!!
oh yeah!
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
Jesus, Chase Utley's on fire, isn't he?
If the at least force the series to go back to NY, the entire team owes a _big_one to Chase.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
Chase
What Matters Utley
Hit4TheCycle - November 2, 2009
Wow -- just think if Teixeira had good RANGE...
UZR FAIL!!!
Nico - November 2, 2009
Hi Everybody
I guess I missed all the excitement!
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
How's it going?
The Phillies really need Cliff Lee to spin another gem tonight.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
I'm just happy I'm home....frustrating day at work - none of our technology was working!!
makes it a bit hard to get anything done! Baseball is much better~!
Let’s go Cliff Lee!!!
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
Baseball could be better!
But it, er, could very well not be better considering how this game unfolds.
Burnett exploding would be a good start.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
Was the scoring all on Utleys HR?
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
yes
Rollins single, Victorino HBP
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
Back at the Grand Tavern
I may have scared the other patrons with my yell when Utley hit the HR
OaklandSi - November 2, 2009 via mobile
Again with the odd decision to start Molina over Posada.
I know Girardi’s doing it for Burnett, but when Molina inevitably gets lifted for Jorge, they’re really on thin ice.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
Does he not ever catch AJ??
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
Somewhere along the line, they've dubbed Jose Molina
as Burnett’s “personal catcher”. I doubt AJ’s actually more productive this way, but that’s the way they’ve done it.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
There was a period of time where it seemed Posada was the catcher non gratis
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
Didn;t make me sad!!
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
Jose Molina
The black sheep of the Molina brothers?
Hit4TheCycle - November 2, 2009
I bet wherever she was, even if she wasn't watching the game, OAH called that Chase Utley HR.
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
See above!
Englishmajor - November 2, 2009
i did, i had just turned on the game, logged into AN
no time to post so i yelled it out loud!
OakA'sHoney - November 2, 2009
Normally, I'd say that she's overusing her Chase Utley calling powers
But he seems to be cooperating every time.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
ALMOST...
We coulda used one more homer from him last night!
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
If only.
Also, if only Brad Lidge got one more out. One out! Just one measly out!
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
i have no control over lidge
OakA'sHoney - November 2, 2009
Apparently, no one in all of Philadelphia does either.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
Lidge doesn't have control over Lidge
worldblee - November 2, 2009
Crap, he practically did HR again (1st inning),
which would have been 4 HRs by Utley off Sabathia in this series.
Nico - November 2, 2009
Jeter out again
makes me happy :-)
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
Hope everyone knew the answer to that trivia question
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
Hey the A's were just in the world series...I've been lied to
wacchampions - November 2, 2009
The Raiders were just in a Super Bowl
Or did I dream that?
Hit4TheCycle - November 2, 2009
hello there people
cuppingmaster - November 2, 2009
Hi....
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
yo
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
Hey hey.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
hi there
OakA'sHoney - November 2, 2009
Has Jamie Moyer pitched in the Postseason?
he seems to be the forgotten man on the staff. Is he hurt?
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
had offseason surgery or something, didn't he?
cuppingmaster - November 2, 2009
er, surgery after the regular season
cuppingmaster - November 2, 2009
It was serious -- appendicitis? He was hospitalized.
Nico - November 2, 2009
near the end
this article was updated 10/01/09 but the comments are on 9/30/09.
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
surgery was on 10/02
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
Blood infection
after the surgery.
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
So here's how clueless I am.....I don;t even know which team he is on.
BRB – Baseball Reference time!
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
Heh, for a minute there I was trying to figure out how
BRB was an acronym for Baseball Reference Time.
Phillies, by the way.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
Yup that's what I found out!
BRB = OOOOOOOOLD time chat acronym….
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
Wow, Victorino must be hurting
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
Or he's doing a really good job of deking the Yankees into trying to run on him
Hi, everyone.
worldblee - November 2, 2009
They've been talking about how he jammed his finger - did you see him gingerly taking off his batting glove?
ALSO – did they say if Cabrera has a strained hammie?
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
Yes
linky
gigglingone - November 2, 2009
TY
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
yeah
Melky was replaced on the roster and Gardner started in his place.
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
TY TYT
Thank you to you too!!
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
c'mon utley, another HOMERUN please!!
OakA'sHoney - November 2, 2009
i'm not surprised he walked
OakA'sHoney - November 2, 2009
you have to call HR
not walks
cuppingmaster - November 2, 2009
i did, now i'm telling howard but i'm not posting it
OakA'sHoney - November 2, 2009
my hr calls are now turning into walks
OakA'sHoney - November 2, 2009
okay root hard now!
cuppingmaster - November 2, 2009
woohoo! i told werth to get a hit!!!!
OakA'sHoney - November 2, 2009
Utley needs to hit another HR
So his name won’t have be associated with Bonds.
worldblee - November 2, 2009
Good discretion by AJ
worldblee - November 2, 2009
Hey, as long as it's not "injecter/injectee"
being on the same list as Barry Bonds is pretty damned good.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
Hitting one HR more than him in a series is even better
worldblee - November 2, 2009
I vote for this.
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
What in the hell does that statement mean? "There have been many people in baseball hit while still holding the bat"
wacchampions - November 2, 2009
"There has been at least one commentator who speaks without thinking"
worldblee - November 2, 2009
If we try to figure out the inane things they say - we will just go C-R-A-Z-Y!!!
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
Good catch, Jeter
worldblee - November 2, 2009
Derek Jeter selflessly misplayed that ball
It was a gritty act of compassion for his teammates, who are sometimes overawed by his perfection and feel unworthy to take the field beside him.
Englishmajor - November 2, 2009
Also
That throw should be fired for making Jeter look bad.
worldblee - November 2, 2009
Fired?
How about imprisoned? Deported? Tortured?
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
We are watching this on Fox
So I’ll say tortured.
worldblee - November 2, 2009
Heh.
Let’s go with “enhanced interrogation”.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
(cringing)
Englishmajor - November 2, 2009
steinbrenner is on it
cuppingmaster - November 2, 2009
Hmmmmm...maybe His Wonderfulness isn't so wonderful after all!!!
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
Whew.
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
"Jeter could not handle the throw"
I love hearing that.
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
there's moyer
cuppingmaster - November 2, 2009
another 3-Run jimmy jack would be nice
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
I'll take that too
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
Nice hit!!!!
gigglingone - November 2, 2009
He Werth hard for the money
Tho hard for the money.
Yes, I do sing that every time he does something good.
worldblee - November 2, 2009
Do you have a lisp?? HAhA
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
muahahahah
burnett doesn’t have it today
cuppingmaster - November 2, 2009
He exploded and Danmerqury called it!!
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
The problem with my powers of persuasion
is that OAH can keep pushing Utley to hit HRs. Once I’ve done my duty, AJ’s out of the game. It’s a one-time deal.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
You have to just keep calling.......
the thing about calling – is sometimes you seem psychic and sometimes you seem silly!
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
More runz!!!!
gigglingone - November 2, 2009
this is fun!!!
OakA'sHoney - November 2, 2009
Wheee!
Go lawn dart!
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
Yay Phillies
And Buck and McCarver should be fired for not saying anything about how Jeter botched that throw from Molina.
doctorK - November 2, 2009
They should be fired for a great many more reasons than that.
DMOAS - November 2, 2009
True
doctorK - November 2, 2009
Many, many runs are prudent to build up against the Yankees
Englishmajor - November 2, 2009
I think 22 should be enough
doctorK - November 2, 2009
agreed
keep them coming Phils
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
Wheee!
AJ Burnett: 2.0 IP, 5 ER (and counting!)
I like this game.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
need to get to 10-1
then it is two-slam range +1
cuppingmaster - November 2, 2009
Make that 2.0 IP, 6 ER
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
Anyone else listening to the Phillies radio team?
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
they just saw a fan
with a Mets jacket on with a sign that says “My season was bad enough, don’t make me watch the Yankees win – Go Phillies!”.
perhaps they saw it on TV though and everyone of you saw it also.
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
So it looks like this new guy, David Robertson
is a fastball/curveball sorta guy. Pitched well this year, in 45-ish innings of relief. Gets a ton of K’s, but walks a bit more than he should.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
Thanks for the scouting report
worldblee - November 2, 2009
I suppose I should have mentioned that he'll get hit around
like a pinata.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
Gnats fans should recognize that popup
doctorK - November 2, 2009
burnett looks like he is gonna cry
that’s awesome
cuppingmaster - November 2, 2009
So did Joba last night
But it worked out OK for Joba. Of course, he only let them tie the game rather than get 5 runs ahead.
worldblee - November 2, 2009
I was thinking he looked seriously depressed......
Phillies woke the F up!! Where were these guys last night???
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
6-1!!!!
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
yay!!!
gigglingone - November 2, 2009
jinx
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
Whoop Whoop
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
6-1
Yay!
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
Wheeee!
Oh, this is so much fun!
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
Woohoo, Phillies!
Who’s doing what to who up in here?
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
CLIFF. LEE.
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
Hell. Yes.
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
Phillies slapping the crap out of YANKEES pitching!
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
Now there's a nice slapping change.
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
i'd like to tell you i called that cliff lee hit but i didn't
go phillies!
OakA'sHoney - November 2, 2009
Just call a hit before each batter comes to the plate.
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
If they really blow open the lead
do you pull Lee early so that he’d have more available in him for game 7?
DMOAS - November 2, 2009
with the phillies bullpen I'm not so sure
they didn’t pull him in game 1 when they opened up a big lead but this is a little different.
micdog2001 - November 2, 2009
Yeah.
I wouldn’t even start to think about it until they had a 10 run lead through 5 or 6. But that would be the question.
DMOAS - November 2, 2009
good question
I would
cuppingmaster - November 2, 2009
Interesting question......
Manager seems kinda conservative……do you have confidence in their BP?? I am not sure I do.
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
what would nico say?
OakA'sHoney - November 2, 2009
what would scooby do?
OakA'sHoney - November 2, 2009
get a scooby snack
cuppingmaster - November 2, 2009
Let his annoying nephew make the decision?
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
Hmmm.
I’d only do it if they’re really up. The bullpen gets tomorrow off to rest, thankfully. Actually, would JA Happ be available for 4-5 innings?
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
He pitched on SAT I think?
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
Hmm.
Then maybe 2-3 innings for him. He only pitched a couple last time, if I remember right.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
Wow
Just finished watching Mad Men and turned on the game. I have to say I didn’t expect a 6-1 score. Go Phillies!
sirbed - November 2, 2009
I've had a million people recommend that show.
So I watched the first episode the other day. Interesting. I think I’ll keep watching.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
It's a great show
creeping into my top 10 of all time.
sirbed - November 2, 2009
Wow, that's high praise.
I’ll be sure to continue with it.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
I don't think you'll be disappointed.
It’s highly addicting.
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
it is very addicting and it's one of those shows that can be enjoyed on so many levels
sirbed - November 2, 2009
OH EM GEE
Can we talk about it now? Ive been waiting for someone to bring it up.
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
Yes, please!
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
I'm out of it - I haven't watched!
Please don’t throw stuff at me……
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
Ack. Ok.
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
♥
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
Wait...do you mean you haven't watched ANY or you don't want us to spoil the last ep for you?
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
Talk away.....I haven't seen it at all
I know….I’m wierd!
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
On Demand.
Go back and watch when you have the chance,
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
So many ppl like it I may do that. By the time I get around to it - I'll have forgotten what you guys have said!
what channel is it on in real time?
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
AMC, 10pm Sundays
Next week is the season finale. Netflix is your friend…watching them back to back is killer.
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
Thx
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
I'm sad that next week is the last episode until next August
but I can’t wait to see it
sirbed - November 2, 2009
just finished reading the sfgate weekly mad men blog
that show is so brilliant
OakA'sHoney - November 2, 2009
I read it right after I finished the show
it’s always interesting to see what Goodman comes up with
sirbed - November 2, 2009
i'm really interested to see what betty will do
OakA'sHoney - November 2, 2009
I have no idea what's going to happen
and that makes me very happy
sirbed - November 2, 2009
She's gotta know that Henry isn't the answer to her problems. I do like how she said "I really don't know what to say to that" becuase
his proposal seemed so out of the blue. I mean they hardly know each other. Here’s hoping Betty’s going to toughen up some more.
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
She must be a great kisser
for him to propose when that’s all they’ve done.
sirbed - November 2, 2009
Lady in public...
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
Oh - I thought you said "Laid in public..."
Then I thought I really need to see this show.
doctorK - November 2, 2009
You REALLY do!
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
that's how it was back then
more innocence and longing, but not for long
OakA'sHoney - November 2, 2009
What did you think?
I was riveted. I thought they handled the JFK thing well.
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
I thought it was perfect how they handled it.
I loved how Duck unplugged the TV so he could get him some Peggy
sirbed - November 2, 2009
He calls her "PeeWee"
that was kinda gross.
I was reading over at Television Without Pity and some of the posters there were talking about when JFK was shot as one of those moments everyone always refers to…“where were you when”? Poor Pegs.
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
Its my first real memory.
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
what year were you born? (if you don't mind me asking)
also, did you have a fab weekend?
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
'59
So when it happened my mom ran into the bathroom crying uncontrollably. I’ll never forget that. “They shot him!” It was pretty traumatic.
I did. Totally awesome!
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
Omg! I couldn't believe he did that!
I also thought it was very telling how Don didn’t want anything to do with the reality of what was happening.
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
"take a pill"
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
Exactly.
Everything will be okay.
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
His whole life is a lie so
I don’t think he knows how to react to anything real
sirbed - November 2, 2009
I thought the way they did the footage was really good too.
It struck me as very 9/11-ish, the way everyone just couldn’t turn off the TV.
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
I think you're dead on there Pam
it was the first TV national tragedy in a lot of ways
sirbed - November 2, 2009
AND at the time of the assasination it was ALL that was on. Not like today - but for the times LOTS of coverage
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
They even showed the Walter Cronkite footage where he almost looses it.
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
Yeah, it totally caught him...you could hear him choke back emotion.
Obviously I wasn’t alive and I’ve seen that footage a million times but I swear my hand was over my mouth in disbelief watching it…the acting was good! Aside from Roger’s daughter, that is.
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
I was in second grade
The teacher suddenly decided to show us a movie and went out in the hall to talk to the other teachers. The kid next to me, who unlike me had gone home for lunch, leaned over and said “The president was shot!”. I said “Shut up and watch the movie, you big liar!”
Englishmajor - November 2, 2009
I was in 3rd (I think) and we just sat in total disbelief...no one said a word!
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
I was four and a half months old
doctorK - November 2, 2009
I really loved how Salamander went to comfort her mom when she was watching the TV coverage of it --
so opposite of Betty when Gene died and Sally was alone watching the footage of the monk burning himself in protest in Viet Nam
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
that's because even though she's a child she's still more grown up then Betty
sirbed - November 2, 2009
She's an intuitive kid.
At the end too, when Don’s leaving in the morning and Betty’s just SO cold toward him. She knows something is up.
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
Yep.
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
I thought the Betty story line was so well done.
When she yells “What is going on here!” Dead. On.
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
January Jones does a great job with that character
sirbed - November 2, 2009
They all do.
What I love is that they are so essentially human. There are attributes you love about them and then there are the obvious foibles.
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
i've read that they want the show to span the entire decade of the 60's
so I wonder what kind of jump we’ll get next season
sirbed - November 2, 2009
i hope 1967 when pete is a hippie
OakA'sHoney - November 2, 2009
Fine year.
67MARQUEZ - November 2, 2009
1967
My dad was born in that year.
Rated-R Superstar - November 2, 2009
Thanks for making me feel like the fossil I am
doctorK - November 2, 2009
You!!??
what about me?? LOL
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
I know someone else that was.
67MARQUEZ - November 2, 2009
My former girlfriend in Iowa, for one
doctorK - November 2, 2009
Wait Mr. 67 is your Dad?
sirbed - November 2, 2009
Yeah
He adopted me.
Rated-R Superstar - November 2, 2009
You did a good job on the lawn.
Meant to say so yesterday.
67MARQUEZ - November 2, 2009
Thanks
I try, you know.
Rated-R Superstar - November 2, 2009
I know I'm not so good with compliments sometimes.
67MARQUEZ - November 2, 2009
I adopted a bad attitude in 1987
sirbed - November 2, 2009
It looks like Pete might really change his spots
Pete Campbell – radical!
sirbed - November 2, 2009
didn't you like that comment from peggy's friend
wondering why peggy would be dating duck if he wasn’t married?
OakA'sHoney - November 2, 2009
why is she dating Duck?

Rated-R Superstar - November 2, 2009
I am well.
You doing okay? I heard our boys didn’t look too bad Sunday.
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
Nice
Yes, I’m okay. We had an offensive outburst on Sunday, with 16 whole points on the road. My recap is here.
Rated-R Superstar - November 2, 2009
Your recap was better than the game RRS
sirbed - November 2, 2009
Thanks
I appreciate it. I enjoyed doing something like that even though we lost as usual.

Looking Ahead
We have the Chiefs in two weeks and then the Browns in December. Also, we have the Redskins somewhere on the schedule. We could win four games this year, four less than what I expected.
Rated-R Superstar - November 2, 2009
Yes on the Chiefs
but it’s too early to tell on Cleveland and Washington. I wouldn’t be surprised if they beat someone they shouldn’t (aka Eagles) and then talk about running the table and making the playoffs
sirbed - November 2, 2009
They'll probably win in Denver.
Which will then convince me to spend $1200 on season tickets.
67MARQUEZ - November 2, 2009

gigglingone - November 2, 2009
did you go for just one weekend??
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
Yup, arrived Saturday morning, left Monday very early morning
got two games in (Saturday and Sunday) and had a marvelous time. Was back at my desk Monday by 10am, so didn’t miss any work. :)
gigglingone - November 2, 2009
I was looking at the schedule but games are so close
you can see them even if they are away?
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
"away" is sometimes a 5 minute drive down the road
All the Phoenix-area stadiums are pretty darn close to each other.
gigglingone - November 2, 2009
That's what I thought. Where did you stay?
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009

Pac-10 Rankings
Four teams from the Pac-10 are inside the top 20 in the BCS poll.
Rated-R Superstar - November 2, 2009
Arizona won't last long up there
They still have to play Cal, Oregon, USC, and Arizona State.
gigglingone - November 2, 2009
Arizona
They should give all teams a pretty good test, especially California and Oregon State. Keep in mind that California also has to play Oregon State.
Rated-R Superstar - November 2, 2009
I won't stop worrying until the Pac-10 season is over
Until then, I’ve seen way too many upsets and injuries to not worry…
gigglingone - November 2, 2009
Pac-10
The overall depth in the conference is pretty good. Oregon and USC will both get BCS bids when it’s all over this season. Three or four teams could be ranked to finish the season, with the fourth being either Arizona or Oregon State. Arizona State also isn’t that bad. Stanford can handle the weak teams, but struggle with teams right above them. That’s their next step. Overall, a case can be made for the Pac-10 being almost right up there with the SEC this season.
Rated-R Superstar - November 2, 2009
what is cal ranked now?
OakA'sHoney - November 2, 2009
California
We’re 20th in the BCS, 23rd in the AP and the 23rd in the coaches poll. The BCS ranking means the most, though.
Rated-R Superstar - November 2, 2009
slowly climbing back, yay
OakA'sHoney - November 2, 2009
Movement
We can make some good gains once more with wins against Arizona and Oregon State.
Rated-R Superstar - November 2, 2009

If only we were playing Monopoly and got the community chest!!
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
Broncos
Unlike last year, I don’t think they’ll collapse in the second half this season. They still have the Eagles, Giants and Steelers, but they also have the Redskins, Raiders and the Chiefs twice. Being 6-1, they should get to 10-6 easily.
Rated-R Superstar - November 2, 2009
I'm hoping for 6-10 for Denver
nothing warms my heart more than Denver losing
sirbed - November 2, 2009
Redskins
They look pretty terrible, though. They lost to the Lions, they lost to the Chiefs and couldn’t even score a touchdown at home against the Rams. Their wins are against the 0-7 Buccaneers and against someone else that I can’t remember.
Rated-R Superstar - November 2, 2009
De La Salle. By one.

Just throwing this out there...
He now has 11 K’s in 20 WS plate appearances this year.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
Grrrr....
Part of the reason I wanted Lee in Game 4, Blanton in Game 5 is that I felt the Phillies could get to Burnett. How nice it would be to have Blanton going right now — and have had Lee on the mound last night with 4 runs of support.
I know — who knows how well he would have pitched and so on. But I think that was the right move and the Phillies could be taking a 3-2 lead with Pedro and Lee lined up.
Nico - November 2, 2009
Manuel needs to get that hindsight checked!!
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
I was saying it just after Game 3 ended.

Yes
Also, you don’t have to go back to the bag. You can tag the runner if he comes to you, and if the runner at third breaks to the plate first, you can throw him out and not worry about the runner at first.
worldblee - November 2, 2009
Exactly
And I believe he could have turned the DP there too and then the run wouldn’t have scored either.

worldblee - November 2, 2009
IMHO - the team needs to win with other pitchers - not just on the back of CLIFF LEE
Not being Captain obvious here – just saying if no other pitchers can get a win…..team is not strong enough in all areas to be the WS champs

We've even passed the point where
ESPN has stopped putting the league-average OPS on their statboards.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009

they have the Christmas lights up in downtown Palo Alto
we don’t have them in the Mission, thankfully.
I don’t know why this still weirds me out, it’s nothing new. But still…
bobnothing - November 2, 2009
I think it's a bit early for lights......
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
They have them up at the Toledo Zoo, too.
Which, btw, if you happen to be there, you should visit.
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
Zoos kinda creep me out
I would like to see Toledo, though
bobnothing - November 2, 2009
Oh yes Toledo is on my to visit list near the top in fact
sirbed - November 2, 2009
Lol!
It was about the person, more than the place. I had an awesome time there.
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
Its very pretty.
The zoo. Toledo, too. Fall colors and all.
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
I'll be in the warm ocean on Christmas so it can't get here soon enough
sirbed - November 2, 2009

Ratings Prediction
I think the Falcons-Saints game will have a higher rating than the World Series tonight.
Rated-R Superstar - November 2, 2009
I don't see it RRS
the Yankees game beat the Sunday night Giants game last week
sirbed - November 2, 2009
I heard they were some of the best WS ratings in a good long while.
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
That's what happens when the Yankees make it.
[insert frowny face here]
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
Ratings
These are the best World Series ratings since 2004.
Rated-R Superstar - November 2, 2009
Reasoning
Rated-R Superstar - November 2, 2009
It hurts the NFL game that it's on cable
more people than you might think don’t get ESPN
sirbed - November 2, 2009
I don't get ESPN
worldblee - November 2, 2009
can be used in so many ways
pam5981 - November 2, 2009
Yep
worldblee - November 2, 2009
outside of PTI
I rarely watch it anymore and I used to love ESPN
sirbed - November 2, 2009
ESPN and Disney belong together
So constantly self-promoting that they become unwatchable.
worldblee - November 2, 2009
Disney Channel Original Movies
Those were the best.
Rated-R Superstar - November 2, 2009
big time on the Disney stuff
also all the SportsCenter anchors started to think they were a lot funnier then they really were and I got tired of it.
Also Yanks/Sox/Cowboys/Lakers OVERKILL!!!!!
sirbed - November 2, 2009
I don;t either and you know what?? I don;t care!!
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009

BERRYJO - November 2, 2009

doctorK - November 2, 2009

danmerqury - November 2, 2009

worldblee - November 2, 2009

doctorK - November 2, 2009
Too bad it doesn't take pride in him
worldblee - November 2, 2009
back within slam range
no bueno
cuppingmaster - November 2, 2009
Does that count towards Ibanez' bloop reel?
bobnothing - November 2, 2009
It should
worldblee - November 2, 2009
It would have been a pretty amazing catch
If it had hit him in the head; now that’s comedy
bobnothing - November 2, 2009
What, this?
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
Ibanez
Yeah, I’d say he’s definitely known for his bat.
Rated-R Superstar - November 2, 2009

BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
Standing O here!!
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
Absolutely.
Hell of a pitching performance, in both games.
danmerqury - November 2, 2009
Ibanez should have caught that.
That sucks!
lynnzgal - November 2, 2009
This is why you need lots of runs
Englishmajor - November 2, 2009
That's why Ibanez needs to be in the American League
sirbed - November 2, 2009
Should have left Victorino and his almost broken finger in
This is why managers shouldn’t try to be nice to their players.
worldblee - November 2, 2009
Agreed.....
BERRYJO - November 2, 2009
NEW THREAD

67MARQUEZ - November 2, 2009
