Well, the NL is going to take a break tonight, as the AL division series intensifies. Both series stand at 1-0, and both away teams will be trying to even the score. On a personal traffic note, how is it that I had to drive right by Dodger Stadium last night, and now tonight, I'm driving by Angel Stadium? I am a bad planner.
First up will be Minnesota and New York, as the Twins try desperately to conjure up some of Tuesday's magic and sneak a game from the dominant Yankees. Nick Blackburn will be throwing for the Twins. He pitched last year's tie-breaker game and was on the losing end of the 1-0 White Sox victory. He hasn't lost since September 11th this season, and he threw into the eighth inning his only start against the Yankees (allowing 4 ER). He will be facing A.J. Burnett, who will be using Molina instead of Jorge Posada at catcher.
The nightcap will be the Red Sox vs. the Angels as Josh Beckett takes on Jered Weaver.
Ready? Go.

Two exciting things
I have a job interview on Monday – and the company is situated within spitting distance of the coliseum.
Secondly, I just put up a fanpost about playing softball on Sunday, so I’m going to link to it here, should anyone have an interest in such things.
It’s in San Francisco. And I’ll be there. Uh, this may have put you off, right.
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
wish i could make softball—too busy. do get a permit to use the diamond! i’ve been kicked out of rolph AND jackson. BYOBases.
also, make sure the coliseum is upwind from your new job. if you’re really gonna spit at it, that is.
AV - October 9, 2009
I'm not really going to spit on it. Unless things go *really* badly, next year. And even then
but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t a plus point, if I get this, to be able to leave the office and then go straight to a baseball game…
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
Just be sure to tell your future employer
that’s the reason you’re taking the job. That and the pay cheque. They love that stuff.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
Yeah, I told them I'd work for free so long as they gave me plenty of time to work on a tunnel into the stadium
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
right when you'd finish the tunnel, the A's would leave
stormtown - October 9, 2009
Wow, congrats!!!
See if they have a company plan! :-)
baseballgirl - October 9, 2009
Good deal - have a great interview!!
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Outside my window I have both crows and the Blue Angels flying in formation
stormtown - October 9, 2009
oh, they've just gone past my window and set off car alarms
the planes, that is. Not the crows.
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
me too
hard to work like that.
MobiusKlein - October 9, 2009
Wow, US tv is all about advertisements isn't it.
Showcasing how the stadium looks in MLB: The Show 09 on the broadcast.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
that's why these games are taking upwards of four hours
it’s like pulling teeth, at times
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
I wish one of the NL series was on today
I thought it would be fun to root against the slegnA. Turns out when you necessarily have to root for another hated team it leads to indifference…lol
Go twins!!
cuppingmaster - October 9, 2009 via mobile
I, erm, quite like the Yankees.
hides
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
Vomitous
cuppingmaster - October 9, 2009 via mobile
Go Twinkees!
OaklandSi - October 9, 2009
stinky Yankees
go Twins!
I won’t cry if Swish hits a dinger so long as the Yanks lose this one
my_cat_max - October 9, 2009
Thanks pretty much my position
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
thanks? I mean, that's
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
Swish did make a great play on a baserunning error by Delmon Young
Game still undecided.
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Or was it young that scored?? Was listening while driving.
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Throw him out! BOooooornett
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
This Twins/Yankee game is boring. Where is all the scoring?
pitchers duels suck when you are “watching” it on gameday.
micdog2001 - October 9, 2009
Wow, it's like magic!
baseballgirl - October 9, 2009
Nick Swisher just saved a run there, but poor baserunning from Gomez, there
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
wait
did Burnett just hit 3 batters in a row?
micdog2001 - October 9, 2009
two
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
gameday is tripping
it says tolbert singled on the first pitched, swung and missed the second, took the 3rd for a ball, and got hit by the 4th.
micdog2001 - October 9, 2009
Swisher and Jeter.
Awesome play.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
OH MY GOSH!!!
baseballgirl - October 9, 2009
Oh man major fail right there
Gardenhire must be eating his hand right now
cuppingmaster - October 9, 2009 via mobile
How did the Young not score if Gomez was thrown out at 3rd?
micdog2001 - October 9, 2009
he was out at second...
he overran the bag, and was tagged out before Young crossed home plate.
Poor baserunning, really.
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
thanks
micdog2001 - October 9, 2009
and a smart swisher move.
AV - October 9, 2009
Jeter's the one that called for the ball...
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
either way, if they guy doesn't overrun the bag, or tries to get in a rundown, it's immaterial
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
Well if a certain former A slides.....
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
well, quite
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
a baserunner!
micdog2001 - October 9, 2009
where?
67MARQUEZ - October 9, 2009
two walks by burnett to O-Cab and Mr MVP
micdog2001 - October 9, 2009
and now there gone
Kubel grounds out to 2nd.

Hi
Hi, people.
Rated-R Superstar - October 9, 2009
Hi
it’s pretty dead in here.
micdog2001 - October 9, 2009
My Day
Man, it was anything other than dead.
Rated-R Superstar - October 9, 2009
there goes Blackburns No-Hitter
single by Cano in the 5th.
micdog2001 - October 9, 2009
Jinx
It’s my fault.
Rated-R Superstar - October 9, 2009
I almost said something earlier
but decided not too.
micdog2001 - October 9, 2009
It's Jon Miller's fault
He was talking over and over about it right up to the moment that Cano got the hit.
OaklandSi - October 9, 2009 via mobile
Go Yankees!
closetasfan - October 9, 2009
Liar
We’re all rooting for the Twins.
Rated-R Superstar - October 9, 2009
Heck yes.
rebus - October 9, 2009
I live in NY
I have reason to root for the Yankees. (when they’re not playing the A’s)
closetasfan - October 9, 2009
You live in NY.
You therefore have reason to root for the Mets. There’s never a valid reason to root for the Yankees.
I’m sorry, but that’s the rules.
danmerqury - October 9, 2009
Yeah, sorry, no excuses.
rebus - October 9, 2009
Um, what's going on?
If you told me to name possible pitchers in the playoffs who could shutout the Yankees, I would probably go through…30 pitchers until I got to Nick Blackburn.
danmerqury - October 9, 2009
Then you've not been watching much baseball. Blackburn's a good pitcher.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
Both the home and away radio announcer teams suck.
That Yankees guy, when Harris hit that triple, was more vague and less enthusiastic than Vince C.
Elvez - October 9, 2009
Sterling?
The Yankees win, THEEEEEEEEEEEEE Yankees Win
Hit4TheCycle - October 9, 2009
I hate that!
micdog2001 - October 9, 2009
John Sterling is really pretty awful
His little nicknames for the Yankees are one of the most annoying traditions in all of radio.
Nick - October 9, 2009
John Sterling
“It’s an ‘A-Bomb’ for A-Rod!”
Rated-R Superstar - October 9, 2009
"Robbie Cano, don't ya know!"
“The Melk-man delivers!”
I realized last night that he’s basically Rob Schneider’s “Richmeister” character.
Nick - October 9, 2009
I think the Bay Area teams have the best announcers in all of sports.
likeiwouldtellyou - October 9, 2009
boy howdy they sure got excited over that foul almost hr
ak_A - October 9, 2009
Arod 6-for-6 on Blackburn
Elvez - October 9, 2009
Now 7-for-7
Elvez - October 9, 2009
that seals it. arod is in the postseason. now that teix seems to have replaced him in hot hitting.
AV - October 9, 2009
*NOT hitting
AV - October 9, 2009
I have nothing to say.
Gaijin_Suketto - October 9, 2009
Me too!
Except that it’s kinda cool to see multiple angles of the game at once, even if they don’t sync very well.
rebus - October 9, 2009
So if you're an ugly, chubby bloke why would you call yourself 'Jabba'?
That’s just asking for trouble.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
isn't his name spelled
Joba?
Ah well, might as well be opportunistic

cuppingmaster - October 9, 2009
That's how it's spelt.
His name was Justin, he had it changed legally (fool). Announcers pronounce it Jabba.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
Did everyone hear this rubbish about Mauer being awesome at every sport?
I’m sure he was, in high school, but the comms were talking like he could start in the NFL right now.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
must be his brother
Bo Mauer
cuppingmaster - October 9, 2009

closetasfan - October 9, 2009
The one time a year my friends at school get me to side with them
Red Sox-Angels. Feels dirty.
walk off bunt - October 9, 2009
Go Angels?
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
No. Go Red Sox.
God. I hate saying that. HATE.
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
Obviously I'd like a draw, but you Americans don't seem to like those.
Of the two the Angels are the lesser evil.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
You folks don't do draws for knock-outs, either
Nick - October 9, 2009
Correct.
It’s not a 162 game knockout thought is it.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
Well, if the first 161 matches between two teams in an FA Cup round are draws...
Though I guess they don’t do endless replays any more, do they?
And there are draws in hockey and very occasionally in pro football. But you’re right, Americans assume that someone needs to win almost every game.
Nick - October 9, 2009
Argh
Both of you need to wash your mouths out with soap for those last two comments. My suggestion: Lifebuoy!
doctorK - October 9, 2009
Y'know I've always been threatened with that.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
I don't LIKE saying it, but faced with that choice, I definitely want Boston to kick some Halo booty.
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
(me too)
Pass the soap.
doctorK - October 9, 2009
f*** it. go Angels!
I’ve always been more partial to Yankees anyway

likeiwouldtellyou - October 9, 2009
Gomez only stole 14 bags this season? Was he injured?!

bobnothing - October 9, 2009
Haha!

mrod - October 9, 2009
All they needed was a day to acclimate to NY!!
I heard CO is going to be freakishly COLD for the game tomorrow! Maybe even snowing!!
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
wow, really?
mrod - October 9, 2009
maybe we'll see the hidden (snow)ball trick?
Gaijin_Suketto - October 9, 2009

too bad they didn’t get that day before game 1.
AV - October 9, 2009

Oooh a Ghostbusters joke. Nice.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009

Smothered that ball.
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
Who's up for the Yanks in the bottom of the inning?
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
damon teix arod? if cheeter was the last out, but i missed a couple outs there.
AV - October 9, 2009
Texiera, Rodriguez and Matsui
if the line up I’m looking at is correct
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
yipes, did you see their history against mauer?
cuppingmaster - October 9, 2009
No....will you share?
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
vs. Nathan
Something like 6/10, 6/12 and 2/7. Yipes.
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
hmmmmmmmm
Let’s hope it’s a better Nathan than that!
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
7/11.
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
That'd be a .636, TYVM
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Not too shabby.
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
So there's the 7/13 or .538
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
er, i meant against nathan

6/10, 6/12, 2/7 respectively
cuppingmaster - October 9, 2009

cuppingmaster - October 9, 2009
The lines don't lie!!
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Let's get a DP on the next one....
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Wow...Nathan has not allowed a HR with a runner on base this season.
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
sshh!
mrod - October 9, 2009
Oh, come on.
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
OMG!!!!!!!
Ca you BE-LEEEEEVE it. F-ing A-rod
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Let's hope that remains the case.
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
He seems pretty intent not to let ARod hit the first one

mrod - October 9, 2009
slegnA/BoSux on TNT now, apparently
Nick - October 9, 2009
Awwwww fuck!
mrod - October 9, 2009
Wow, A-Rod is so unclutch.
Let’s boo him.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
fark that guy
cuppingmaster - October 9, 2009
you gotta be shittin me!
ak_A - October 9, 2009
You know who would have this game closed?
Everyday Eddie Guardado
Hit4TheCycle - October 9, 2009
brad radke would have gone the distance
cuppingmaster - October 9, 2009
or Bert Blyleven
mrod - October 9, 2009
Bert might have given up that HR, though
Nick - October 9, 2009
Twilight Zone....
mrod - October 9, 2009
jack morris would have thrown at him
cuppingmaster - October 9, 2009
Ugh, Jack Morris
Couldn’t stand him.
Nick - October 9, 2009
he could deal though
the bulldog of his time
cuppingmaster - October 9, 2009
(I liked him)
Leopold Bloom - October 9, 2009
It was mostly Joe Morganish "he's a winner" crap
Nick - October 9, 2009
his shelf life was a lot shorter than some guys,
but Jack Morris could deal.
Leopold Bloom - October 9, 2009
He pitched for nearly 20 years
but he always walked too many guys, gave up lots of HRs, and allowed lots of runs.
He was a good inning-eater who sprinkled in a few really good seasons in a long career.
Nick - October 9, 2009
And Mike Piazza would jump out of the stands and rush the pitcher!
mrod - October 9, 2009
I just now got home and sat down after being stuck in traffic for an hour or so
Goddamn you to hell, Alex Rodriguez.
Englishmajor - October 9, 2009
well said.
Leopold Bloom - October 9, 2009
Really bad time for your first homer allowed!!!
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
No shit....
I really don’t wan the Yankees to win.
mrod - October 9, 2009
want!
mrod - October 9, 2009
The silver lining
is that every Twins loss is one step closer to shuttering the Metrodome.
Nick - October 9, 2009
Showing my ignorance....won't the Vikings still play there?
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Yeah, I guess they will
As long as they don’t play baseball there any more, I’m okay. I just can’t root for more baseball games there.
Nick - October 9, 2009
The city of Minneapolis, which owns the Metrodome,
projects they will make more money with the Twins not there.
Leopold Bloom - October 9, 2009
Swap meets and such?
Nick - October 9, 2009
That defies logic.
Why would that be?? rugby? Monster truck pulls?
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
First off, they own it outright.
And i’m not sure that the Twins aren’t there rent free.
And yes, they could book more events through the summer.
Summer in Minneapolis is quite pleasant.
Leopold Bloom - October 9, 2009
If a bit on the humid side
my cousin used to live there. She said there were two seasons…..winter and construction.
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Yes, they will
University of Minnesota football left the Dome this season for a new campus stadium, but the Vikes will still be at the Metrodome. (Which makes sense; playing football outside in December in Minnesota is not a pleasant prospect.)
Englishmajor - October 9, 2009
And it doesn't seem like a terrible football stadium
Maybe they can paint the inside of the roof brown now.
Nick - October 9, 2009
LOL
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Weird how Nathan pitched him
3 Crosby-special sliders to go to 3-0, then a 2-seamer for strike 1 and a 4-seamer down the middle.
Nick - October 9, 2009
not quite a meatball, more like a
AV - October 9, 2009
LOL
serious. that one had kraut on it.
cuppingmaster - October 9, 2009
He didn't put enough mustard on it
But ARod relished it.
Nick - October 9, 2009
QOTM!
mrod - October 9, 2009
ha!
AV - October 9, 2009
Where's Danmerqury with the fan graph??
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Well, I sure picked the wrong time to go make dinner...
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
so that botched run is looming large.
AV - October 9, 2009
I missed seeing that....was that the baserunning error?
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
yeah. there was a runner going home but gomez’ goof at 2nd was the 3rd out.
AV - October 9, 2009
C'mon Twins!
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
Dammit Nathan!
So close….yet so far….
mrod - October 9, 2009
Um, just far I think.
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
Better far than Farve...
mrod - October 9, 2009
Not feeling good about this game now
mrod - October 9, 2009
BIIIIIIG momentum switch
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
indeed.
mrod - October 9, 2009
The score is tied
and Rivera, Hughes, and Chamberlain are all out of the game.
Nick - October 9, 2009
Joe Nathan looks totally stunned in the dugout....
mrod - October 9, 2009
But truly.....when you haven't given up a HR all year the stats are against you maintaining that forever
right?
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
true dat....just horrible timing...
mrod - October 9, 2009
hey so i have the fangraph, is there any way to upload something directly from the computer?
if not, well, it’s about even right now
cuppingmaster - October 9, 2009
I think you can put in the link:
Like This
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
he always posts the pic
i have the screen cap of the graph but now it’s on my laptop, and i think you need to have it online somewhere to post it.
cuppingmaster - October 9, 2009
here you go
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
Thanks....it's not too big!
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
"the fangraph"?
….is that some kind of virus?
Leopold Bloom - October 9, 2009
Nah.....the visual on the game and it's momentum based on the events in the game.
But you knew that already…
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
I thought it sounded like a ransom note
I HAVE THE FANGRAPH. LET DENARD SPAN GET ON BASE AND NO ONE GETS HURT.
Nick - October 9, 2009
Aha! The dreaded two out walk!
mrod - October 9, 2009
Shall we make them PAY???!!!
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Hit4TheCycle - October 9, 2009
That is a sad sad picture.....given that the graph at the 9th inning was 90% Twinkies.....
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
where did you get the .png file?
i don’t see the link on there for that
cuppingmaster - October 9, 2009
you can right-click on any image and you have choices to copy the location or open it in its own window.
yay line drive!!
AV - October 9, 2009
Right click, copy image location or something
Hit4TheCycle - October 9, 2009
i was clicking in the wrong place
thanks though!
cuppingmaster - October 9, 2009
just right click, copy the image location
come to AN and in your comment click the little picture of the tree, and paste the URL into the field. then hit preview, adjust height if necessary (which I did not do above, my bad) and post! voila!
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
for me, if you right click the left side
you can save it. if you right click the right side you get the flash menu.
cuppingmaster - October 9, 2009
I always forget where to place the size = comment?
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009

or after the / ??
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
You don't need a backslash for an <img src= tag
and you use the word height, not size.
.png" height=200
Nick - October 9, 2009
That explains it!!
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
It's been a looong time since I've used any html so I have forgotten a lot!
Now if only I can remember!! Thanks sooo much
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
You can always view the source code of a page you're on and find the tag
if you need a quick refresher.
Nick - October 9, 2009
I tried that one time but there was so much code on the page......
and right now I am not sure I know how to look again!!
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
anywhere inside the brackets, i think.
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
Aw crap
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
Let's go Twinkies!
mrod - October 9, 2009
We're gonna win, Twins, we're gonna score!
We’re gonna win, Twins, watch the baseball soar!
Knock out a home run, shout a hip-hooray,
Cheer for the Minnesota Twins today!
(I wish the A’s had a song,,,)
Englishmajor - October 9, 2009
Come to think of it, what other MLB teams have a song?
The Cubs do (“Go Cubs Go” by the late great Steve Goodman) but I don’t know of any others,
Englishmajor - October 9, 2009
When I'm a famous recording artist, I shall write one for the Oakland A's
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
The Mets have one
Meet the Mets!
Meet the Mets!
Head to the park and greet the Mets!
Hot dogs, baseball all out at Shea!
Guaranteed to have a heck of a day!
They changed the 4th line since they left Shea, but I can’t remember how it goes now.
Nick - October 9, 2009
Base hit! Nice!
mrod - October 9, 2009
Right ON!!! Let's bring this guy home!
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
GO-CAB
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
It is time my son!!!
mrod - October 9, 2009
Oh, Orlando, now is your time to not suck
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
Meh...that looked oh so familiar!!
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
oh well...
mrod - October 9, 2009
damnit
he could have at least made swisher walk a few steps
cuppingmaster - October 9, 2009
OCab to Swish
Nick - October 9, 2009
Catch this........
Good Job!
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Twins love Extras
Hit4TheCycle - October 9, 2009
except when they're on the road
cuppingmaster - October 9, 2009
So do I!
Nick - October 9, 2009
Ok, this IS stressful even without the A's.
I need to breathe.
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
Hm, Posada quite high up my list of players I dislike
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
Oh, look. It's Saint Derek.
Nick - October 9, 2009
Oh barf.
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
oh no
that’s not what’s supposed to happen
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
Boof
His name is Boof.
Unless that’s a nickname. I suppose if my parents had named me “Barf Bonser” I’d probably want a nickname like “Boof,” too.
Nick - October 9, 2009
His birth name is John, I think
But he had it legally changed to Boof.
Englishmajor - October 9, 2009
There should be laws against that.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
Oh noes.
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
Gardenhire is gonna have a flippin' heart attack!
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Me too!
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
Speed kills.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
Not all mistakes kill you
But in baseball they certainly can.
Hit4TheCycle - October 9, 2009
Is it just me, or did this game start around five hours ago?
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
You did say they take about 4 hours...
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
Joe Nathan is having a Matt Holliday moment.
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
Haha!
mrod - October 9, 2009
And it's another former-A playing a crucial role in a postseason game
Nick - October 9, 2009
is he half Thai?
paradox - October 9, 2009
Yup
Englishmajor - October 9, 2009
[nods]
paradox - October 9, 2009
really? i thought there were no thais in baseball…
AV - October 9, 2009
boooo.....bad one...but funny!
mrod - October 9, 2009
LOL
Nick - October 9, 2009
heh
paradox - October 9, 2009
Guess the Twins don't really wan to win this thing...
mrod - October 9, 2009
Guess again
BleedGreen - October 9, 2009
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOA
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
wow what a break!
mrod - October 9, 2009
CMON!
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
Piss off.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
you say funny things for a baseball game
do you also do the holding out the team scarf thing? (teach me how!)
AV - October 9, 2009
it's more like this, I think
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
is that chelsea? i don’t know OA’s team. i just like that scarf chants. the way they hold it tight and close it while singing.
AV - October 9, 2009
Blackburn Rovers, I think
Nick - October 9, 2009
(OA's team, that is -- not who's in the pic)
Nick - October 9, 2009
That's Oldham Athletic.
I’m a Blackburn Rovers fan. I’ve never done the scarf thing for what it’s worth.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
Oh, Apologies, I thought you were an Oldham fan
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
Second team.
My family is from Oldham, hence the name.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
do you go to matches much?
AV - October 9, 2009
Blackburn matches?
Every home game. Oldham? Not really….I went a few times in my youth, but not for a good 10 years now.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
yeah, i meant football matches in general, not knowing where you live. but every home game, wow. jealous. though i guess you’re missing catching some A’s games.
AV - October 9, 2009
Bearing in mind the 8 hour time difference to the
West Coast, not likely!
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
i said “missing catching,” which is confusing. just meant you must be a little jealous of us who can catch a baseball game, just like me of seeing real football.
AV - October 9, 2009
Ah, erm, yeah a little I suppose.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
Does City actually belong near the top, or are they doomed to drop down to the middle?
Nick - October 9, 2009
Manchester City?
They’re going to be near the top for as long as they have a competent manager and £200millionsquillionbilliontrillion to spend.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
h ha ha
eat me, ny
paradox - October 9, 2009
nnniiiiice!
AV - October 9, 2009
OCAB!!!
pam5981 - October 9, 2009

Rated-R Superstar - October 9, 2009
Can we assume that the Twins' announcer called that
“The pitch to Damon…lined single to center!”
Nick - October 9, 2009
more than likely...
mrod - October 9, 2009
Anybody checking on the other game??
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
0-0 top of the 3rd
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
0-0 top 3rd
Nick - October 9, 2009
no, no and no. pleasure to avoid those "two" teams for a bit
ak_A - October 9, 2009
momma mia, franceso!
ak_A - October 9, 2009
FAIR BALL
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
How unlucky for the Twins....
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
WOW.
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
How the hell does the ump miss that?
Nick - October 9, 2009
that's like 10-12 inches inside the line AND off the tip of his glove
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
So much for the extra umps on the field....might as well not even have them!!
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Was he NOT WATCHING!?!?!
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
Apparently!! not watching where it landed
that’s for sure
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Too busy looking to see Jeter's reaction
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
freaking fair ball! holy sht
ak_A - October 9, 2009
Wait, how long ago in the season did Justin Morneau get hurt?
I’m more impressed, now, that the Twins have been this good
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
Throw the Red Flag Gardenhire
Hit4TheCycle - October 9, 2009
Wow!
Now they need to score!
mrod - October 9, 2009
wait! why is that not a double?
mrod - October 9, 2009
Yes!!!!!!!!
mrod - October 9, 2009
Damnit Mauer should be at third.
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
figures
I was here for the boring parts and missed all the good stuff. And I can’t stay :-(
micdog2001 - October 9, 2009
Do you have a note from your mom or dad???????? hmmmmmmm?????
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
"Gimme da ting that the doctor ordered me!"
mrod - October 9, 2009
more like a note from my wife ;-)
micdog2001 - October 9, 2009
Well - I wish you a great evening......
{hoping you have sportstap on your phone}
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
thanks
I will catch the highlights on the mlb network later tonight. I love that channel. Peace Out AN!
micdog2001 - October 9, 2009
If the Twins don't score here they're done....
mrod - October 9, 2009
O-cab is so animated.
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
Isn't he, though?
mrod - October 9, 2009
KIDIEUR! Let's do this!!!!!
mrod - October 9, 2009
I hate it when the umps give the game away.....
they are suposed to be better than that. ESPECIALLY in a play-off series!
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!
mrod - October 9, 2009
Bases juiced!
mrod - October 9, 2009
OHMYGOD
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
how has mauer not scored yet?
AV - October 9, 2009
Nope they held him @ 3rd
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
SLAM SLAM SLAM!!!
that would be soooooooo good right now.
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009

ak_A - October 9, 2009

BERRYJO - October 9, 2009

pam5981 - October 9, 2009
Young and Gomez
They’re asking for a whooping.
Rated-R Superstar - October 9, 2009
Twins arw starting to make the A's look not so bad...
mrod - October 9, 2009
I'll put this one on the ump all the way
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Could the TV team be any more pro-Yankees?
Englishmajor - October 9, 2009
oh yes they could!
mrod - October 9, 2009
Darling was born in Hawaii
but I think he grew up in the NY area, and he’s on NYC sports radio fairly often.
Nick - October 9, 2009
And he's terrible.
OldhamA - October 9, 2009
Yeah, and it's not just the format of doing color for a game
When he’s just talking about baseball on a regular radio show, he tends towards the Morganesque. Lots of crap about winners and momentum and gutting things out.
Nick - October 9, 2009
Surprised that Teixeira didn't go for the 3-6-3 double play...
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
had to save the run?
AV - October 9, 2009
double play gets both outs and ends the inning, no?
Though yeah, the run would probably score in time, fair point
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
but the DP is riskier and the home throw was a sure thing.
AV - October 9, 2009
Unbelievably bad luck for the Twins on Mauer's "non double"
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
NO
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
unbelievable
ak_A - October 9, 2009
Twins are done...sorry.
mrod - October 9, 2009
i believe if the yankees get the W, left field ump gets the save.
AV - October 9, 2009
No kidding, right?
mrod - October 9, 2009
give him a break, its not like he was 10 feet away
he must have been at least 10 feet 3 inches
Future Ed - October 9, 2009
and looking down the line, which is so confusing when you’re trying to figure out which side the ball lands on.
AV - October 9, 2009
AND it's the only f-ing thing you have to do!!!!!!
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
To be fair, he had to keep one eye on Jeter to see his reaction
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
Ridiculous.
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
Dude. This has NOT been a great game.
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
♥ of the order again
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
MLB wants the Yanks in the WS.
Bottom line is if you don’t beat the Yanks when you have the chance don’t expect the Umps to help you out at all.
mrod - October 9, 2009
omg
ak_A - October 9, 2009
Game over!
Series over!
mrod - October 9, 2009
series is not over
it doesn’t look good for the Twins, but A’s fans of all people should know that the ALDS isn’t over until a team wins 3 games.
OaklandSi - October 9, 2009
I know...
just saying the Twinkies did not do themseleves any favors…that’s all.
mrod - October 9, 2009
I agree with you, totally
OaklandSi - October 9, 2009
:) It's all relative I suppose...
mrod - October 9, 2009
Such bullshit.
pam5981 - October 9, 2009
They should NOT have won this game.......I'm definately not listening to the hated EastSentric sports station gloat over this win
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
goddamn
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
I.HATE.THE.YANKEES
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
The battle of the sucky bullpens
Nick - October 9, 2009
oh crap, Yankees win
but the Twins had their chances, too bad
OaklandSi - October 9, 2009
Precisely..
mrod - October 9, 2009
Ellsbury triples leading off the 4th
Still 0-0.
Nick - October 9, 2009
eeww gross
OaklandSi - October 9, 2009
I hate the Yankees all over again
Englishmajor - October 9, 2009
I really don't like that they're celebrating like they've just clinched
hope it comes back to haunt them
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
Why have extra umpires down the lines?
If they’re not going to get a call right?
Hit4TheCycle - October 9, 2009
Exactly
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
he was wrong TWICE
once when it hit the glove and then when it landed
Future Ed - October 9, 2009
that was ridiculous
take him off the playoff rotation. (I don’t think he should be fired or anything. After reading that article about the high school ump that tried to kill himself because of all the hate mail)
micdog2001 - October 10, 2009
And with Ellsbury on 3rd, Weaver is pitching from the windup
Nick - October 9, 2009
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
I wish I would have turned my computer off sooner.
micdog2001 - October 9, 2009
No need to watch MLB tonight!!
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
So it's possible for another AL East ALCS?
DO NOT WANT
Hit4TheCycle - October 9, 2009
just be grateful they can't play each other in the WS
Leopold Bloom - October 9, 2009
if the yankees and red sox play in the ALCS
the world series will be cancelled, they’ll just play again
Future Ed - October 9, 2009
the networks would love it.
Leopold Bloom - October 9, 2009
Some networks!
not the Athletics Network!!
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Unfortunately, our network...
Englishmajor - October 9, 2009
Hahahahahahhahaha haha
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
My hate for the Yankees lives again.
Leopold Bloom - October 9, 2009
Mine never died
Just keeps on getting stronger.
BleedGreen - October 9, 2009
I was surprisingly not hating them this season
but since the playoffs began I remember why I hate them. They are so farking lucky it isn’t funny.
micdog2001 - October 10, 2009
Sox up 1-0 in the 3rd.
mrod - October 9, 2009
ugh
OaklandSi - October 9, 2009
Sounds like a lot of Masshles in Anaheim tonight
A match made in heaven,
Englishmajor - October 9, 2009
Now there's a rollercoaster or Twins fans EKG
Hit4TheCycle - October 9, 2009
I wouldn't *entirely* be heartbroken if it were an all California WS
Would they still show it on tv, though?
bobnothing - October 9, 2009
If they will give
Bill Romanowski a microphone, they will put anything on TV.
Hit4TheCycle - October 9, 2009
um.
here.
Leopold Bloom - October 9, 2009
I hate that guy!
mrod - October 9, 2009
Bill Romanowski
He works for Comcast SportsNet now.
Rated-R Superstar - October 9, 2009
especially cuz he's on the Raiders post game report!
mrod - October 9, 2009
If a baseball player did what he did
Congress would threaten to shut the sport down.
When a football player assaults his own teammate in a roid rage and destroys his face (and career) he gets a job on tv.
Nick - October 9, 2009
LA vs. LA? with all the buzz, they’d have to make a movie out of it and nominate it for an oscar.
AV - October 9, 2009
Hmmm.
That I might watch. Its going to be hard for me to be invested otherwise.
lynnzgal - October 9, 2009
Hey Lynn gal!!
How are you?
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
I'm good, thanks, Jo.
Glad its Friday.
lynnzgal - October 9, 2009
NO kidding!!
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
good grief. What happened to Nathan?!
Stupid Yankees.
whiteshoes40 - October 9, 2009
The guys in the middle of the Yankees' order have all hit Nathan really well over their careers
and he did a lousy job pitching to ARod.
Nick - October 9, 2009
that sucks.
Well, we all know it is not impossible for a team to come back from being down 2-0, so let’s hope for that.
whiteshoes40 - October 9, 2009
And they have 2 possible games in MN right?
and you know they don’t want the NYY celebrating in their house!!
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Yep. Hopefully they'll at least take it to 5 games.
whiteshoes40 - October 9, 2009
Then they can celebrate in NYY house
I kinda like that scenario
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
Yeah, though I hate the Metrodome so much that I'll be happy when it's hosted its last baseball game
Nick - October 9, 2009
I'm checking out for a bit...catch y'all later.
Go A’s!
oh, wait…..
mrod - October 9, 2009
BuhBye
BERRYJO - October 9, 2009
