I once saw a game where Mike Moore pitched against Charlie Hough and
it seemed like time froze the game was so slow. They would both just stand there forever thinking about their next pitch and of course Hough would always throw the same pitch. That’s 4 hours of my life I can never get back.
You know, I know you agree with me because I recognize your snark.
But seriously, what kind of revisionist history are we selling here when we say he saved the sport? The long ball saved the sport and McGwire and Sammy chasing Maris, that’s what made us all buy in again.
I just saw the replay of Holliday’s error. !!! (I’m sure you all have great reactions in the other game thread, which I shall go explore momentarily.) But… WOW. It makes me laugh, but I also feel bad for him. I would have preferred him to just be normal in the playoffs — not do anything great, not do anything awful. …That didn’t turn out so well.

This game is about to be over if the slegnA
score again.
God I hate the slegnA. My phone is already ringing.
Trainman - October 8, 2009
Roommate?
Tell him “Fuck you” from a sign shop in FLA.
Leopold Bloom - October 8, 2009

Trainman - October 8, 2009

doctorK - October 8, 2009

JLaff - October 8, 2009
One of those innings where it's really hard for Ramirez
to point the ol’ finger.
Nico - October 8, 2009
Time for bed. Goodnight, folks!
Nick - October 8, 2009
Sweet dreams
BERRYJO - October 8, 2009

67MARQUEZ - October 8, 2009

is everyone still mad at me for laughing?
baseballgirl - October 8, 2009
you mean, is mikev still mad?
67MARQUEZ - October 8, 2009
Yeah, that, pretty much.
baseballgirl - October 8, 2009
He was just being all rational in the midst of a storm of irrationality
BERRYJO - October 8, 2009
When in Rome, I say...
baseballgirl - October 8, 2009
NO!
pam5981 - October 8, 2009
What? No way
Laughing is good for you and us
BERRYJO - October 8, 2009
That seemed like it was a close play than it should have been.
pam5981 - October 8, 2009
*closer*
pam5981 - October 8, 2009
Probably because he was safe.
Whoopsidaisie.
pam5981 - October 8, 2009
This game is ugly.
67MARQUEZ - October 8, 2009
Hockey
I’m watching the Sharks now. They’re beating the Blue Jackets, 3-2, as the second period is coming to a close.
Rated-R Superstar - October 8, 2009
Blue Jackets??
67MARQUEZ - October 8, 2009
is there any sport you don't watch RRS?
sirbed - October 8, 2009
Bowling
I don’t watch that.
Rated-R Superstar - October 8, 2009
Is that a sport?
pam5981 - October 8, 2009
ESPN
They televise bowling. It must be a sport.
Rated-R Superstar - October 8, 2009
They televise spelling bees and poker, too
mikev - October 8, 2009
Poker
Some say it’s a sport.
Rated-R Superstar - October 8, 2009
bullshit
mikev - October 8, 2009
the televised arm wrestling too...once
DyeLongJustice - October 8, 2009
Like I said, ugly.
67MARQUEZ - October 8, 2009
Oh, barf.
pam5981 - October 8, 2009
Seriously, NOW Boston sucks.
baseballgirl - October 8, 2009
well this game is over
DyeLongJustice - October 8, 2009
Oh well
This game is well over.
If Boston lose tomorrow it’s ovah.
PUKE
Trainman - October 8, 2009
Boston - self destructing
I can feel their pain having felt it a few times at the hands of this team…..
BERRYJO - October 8, 2009
oh my gosh.
…That didn’t turn out so well.
whiteshoes40 - October 8, 2009
You're way nicer than I am.
pam5981 - October 8, 2009
When I first saw the headline, I laughed.
Then I watched the replay, and I felt kinda bad. So… maybe I’m marginally nicer than you.
whiteshoes40 - October 8, 2009
It was the post-error flop that sealed the hilarity factor for me.
pam5981 - October 8, 2009
That was pretty awesome.
whiteshoes40 - October 8, 2009
I finally saw it....oh man.
baseballgirl - October 8, 2009
He lost it in the lights
a la Emil Brown…exactly like Brown, 27th out and the games over.
It must be that band of lights between decks.
One won lost won - October 8, 2009
To me
it looked like he lost it in the nuts. Oh yeah!
A'sian - October 8, 2009
LOL
BERRYJO - October 8, 2009
Actually, I think he found it in the nuts
doctorK - October 8, 2009
Hey, you know what's awesome?
I can actually watch this game and not care too much, because the A’s can’t lose! There is a silver lining in everything.
DyeLongJustice - October 8, 2009
I don't see the A's losing a game anytime between now and next April
sirbed - October 8, 2009
I see some ST losses ..March
One won lost won - October 8, 2009
I'm goin to AzFL...so our players can still lose?
DyeLongJustice - October 8, 2009
Does that mean we go into 2010 undefeated??
BERRYJO - October 8, 2009
the same as years 2000-2008!!
I think we went into 1999 at 0-1, based just on a bad ST.
One won lost won - October 8, 2009
ST Segment Depression1!!!!!
DyeLongJustice - October 8, 2009
They can't win, either.
mikev - October 8, 2009
that's ok. mathmatically we're still comin' out on top!
we lose more than we win!
DyeLongJustice - October 8, 2009
This pitcher musta heard a million bad shakespeare jokes.....
BERRYJO - October 8, 2009
Last Chance for BRS
BERRYJO - October 8, 2009
OK, so the Anaheims are ahead, but it's all good when you realize
just how awesome Schadenfraude can truly be
emperor nobody - October 8, 2009
Are the Saux Fans quiet
Or did Anaheim defend their territory well from Saux fans?
Hit4TheCycle - October 8, 2009
Over! til tomorrow
BERRYJO - October 8, 2009
Um, does this mean I have to root harder for Boston now?
Ugh.
pam5981 - October 8, 2009
Yep
I have to.
You are lucky. I live with a Yankee/slegnA fan. I get it double in the playoffs.
I feel sick after hearing the slegnA win. I just know these fukkkkkers are probably destined to win it all but they must be stopped.
Trainman - October 8, 2009
I was wondering where you were through this
Clearly we don’t hate the slegnA enough. This blows.
cuppingmaster - October 8, 2009
Obviously the answer is MORE HATE.
We can do better.
pam5981 - October 8, 2009
Yes
I watched “the soloist” instead of innings 3-8 and not the game. I didn’t focus enough.
At least the movie was redemptive, which is more than I can about this game
cuppingmaster - October 8, 2009
No worries, it'll be the Twins and Rockies in the WS
those with “nothing to lose” play looser. That’s why WC teams show up so often.
MLB playoffs suck, philosophically speaking. I watch with interest, but IMO it’s a hockey format and is bad for baseball championships.
One won lost won - October 8, 2009
how would you do it if you could design the ultimate playoff format?
cuppingmaster - October 8, 2009
Pit, spike-covered.
Loin cloth, one weapon, small, single-handed.
Remember the first fighting pit they put Conan in? Kinda like that.
Leopold Bloom - October 8, 2009
nice
Ortiz vs. Sling Blade
