We're in the top of the eighth inning. The Phillies are in command of this game, thanks to the brilliant pitching of Cliff Lee and two homeruns by Chase Utley.
Apparently the drug “Pristiq” is something that causes blue and yellow dots to flow back and forth between two red toilet plungers and causes a little plastic doll to start marching around.
I was thinking (with the sound ON) that I was happy to be eating my daily dose of serotonin (chocolate has it!). Thereby- finding one way of staving off mild depression.

1) I really like the Phillies road uniforms. The cursive “Phillies” looks cool. They’re classic greys. The numbers font is very nice. The blue highlights (stars and top of the cap) really add to them. And I totally dig the TV numbers on the left sleeve. Their home unis I don’t like so much. They look like peppermint sticks!
2) The big, ugly logos on both teams caps are teh suXXor. They’re especially awful on the Yankees caps, which are usually such classics.
While watching the Raiders-Jets game the other day
I was thinking that the Raiders and Yankees uniforms are the two “most classic” uniforms in all of professional sports. NOT “My Favorite” uniforms, but the uniforms that are the best match for their respective sports.
All cap logos are horrendous. Expect to see more of them over the next few years, though; it’s a logical place to put advertising.
Bonus points for the Broncos road throwbacks, which (apparently accurately) featured the same yellow striped brown pants but replaced the brown and yellow vertical striped socks with brown and white vertical striped socks. Apparently these unis were the result of their owner buying second hand uniforms from a defunct college all-star game. They only came with one set of pants.
On the other hand, the TV numbers on the Broncos’ helmets are great.
were commenting that both teams were wearing the throwbacks and in the case of the Raiders you couldn’t really tell, except for the helmet logo. And I hope they never change. Same with the Yankees home unis; Jeter is wearing exactly what DiMaggio and Mantle wore and I don’t want to see that change either.
Steinbrenner would have invited UGK to join Jay-Z tomorrow night to serenade the $2,500 seats with a (CLEAN) rendition of “Big Pimpin’” during the 7th inning stretch?
Jay-Z and Alicia Keys were invited to perform an expurgated version of “Empire State of Mind” tonight.
“Big Pimpin’” was a huge hit for Jay-Z that featured UGK, a rap duo from Port Arthur, TX, one of whose members, Pimp C, died of a drug overdose in the interim (I believe it was purple drank, for those keeping score at home).
Somehow “Big Pimpin’” seems like an appropriate song for those expensive seats in the New Yankee Stadium.

pam5981 - October 28, 2009
Cuz she already did that?

Cotton head = sinus infection
BERRYJO - October 28, 2009
now does Lee come out for the 8th?
cuppingmaster - October 28, 2009
unless they think it would prevent him from going in game 4 he should pitch the next inning
sirbed - October 28, 2009
He's at 95 pitches, I'd probably pull him.
I mean, the game’s not entirely in the bag, but it’s a nice enough margin.
danmerqury - October 28, 2009
But....how strong is their BP?
BERRYJO - October 28, 2009
Not at all
I’d keep Lee in for the 8th
baseballgirl - October 28, 2009
Strong like Cupcake.
pam5981 - October 28, 2009
i imagine if not Lee right now
then maybe Happ
cuppingmaster - October 28, 2009
That's a fair point.
And it is the Yankees, they could score 4 runs pretty easily.
Either way, looks like Cliff’s out there for the 8th.
danmerqury - October 28, 2009
hurry up end the game
it’s the great pumpkin charlie brown is coming on
yes i’m 8 yrs old

sirbed - October 28, 2009

Nick - October 28, 2009
So I have a question..
Were these players they just added to the roster part of the 40 man roster? There were a few guys added on both teams. How far into the playoffs can they add a player?
BERRYJO - October 28, 2009
I'm pretty sure that every team has to set their playoff rosters before September callups.
And that if you want to make any substitutions, it has to be because of an injury, or other special circumstance.
danmerqury - October 28, 2009
The postseason roster rules have changed a lot in the last few years
A team can make roster changes prior to the start of a new postseason series; also, a team can replace an injured player during a series, on the condition that the injured player is ineligible for the following series.
Mark Kiger would like to say hello to you.

BERRYJO - October 28, 2009
No, but she's about to deal with the consequences of that.

BERRYJO - October 28, 2009
Hahaha.
We’re an odd bunch.
danmerqury - October 28, 2009
I like that about us.
lynnzgal - October 28, 2009
I love this tangent
baseballgirl - October 28, 2009
A Couple Uni Notes
1) I really like the Phillies road uniforms. The cursive “Phillies” looks cool. They’re classic greys. The numbers font is very nice. The blue highlights (stars and top of the cap) really add to them. And I totally dig the TV numbers on the left sleeve. Their home unis I don’t like so much. They look like peppermint sticks!
2) The big, ugly logos on both teams caps are teh suXXor. They’re especially awful on the Yankees caps, which are usually such classics.
GreenNGoldSooner - October 28, 2009
While watching the Raiders-Jets game the other day
I was thinking that the Raiders and Yankees uniforms are the two “most classic” uniforms in all of professional sports. NOT “My Favorite” uniforms, but the uniforms that are the best match for their respective sports.
All cap logos are horrendous. Expect to see more of them over the next few years, though; it’s a logical place to put advertising.
Soaker - October 28, 2009
My Raiders aren't very good right now
but their uniforms are perfect in my opinion.
sirbed - October 28, 2009
I'm really digging the AFL throwbacks.
I know they’re not much different, but the numbers look pretty great.
danmerqury - October 28, 2009
The Jets throwbacks were truly putrid.
lynnzgal - October 28, 2009
Denver's were godawful.
Brown and yellow with vertical striped socks?
danmerqury - October 28, 2009
Yet fascinating....
Like watching a car wreck.
GreenNGoldSooner - October 28, 2009
We take comfort where we can.
lynnzgal - October 28, 2009
yep
sirbed - October 28, 2009
The announcers on that game
were commenting that both teams were wearing the throwbacks and in the case of the Raiders you couldn’t really tell, except for the helmet logo. And I hope they never change. Same with the Yankees home unis; Jeter is wearing exactly what DiMaggio and Mantle wore and I don’t want to see that change either.
Soaker - October 28, 2009
Definitely.
I like modern-styled uniforms, for the most part, but some franchises wisely choose to stay with the old.
danmerqury - October 28, 2009
I agree some uniforms should never change
some like the Bengals uniforms should change as soon as possible
sirbed - October 28, 2009
jeter cam???
OakA'sHoney - October 28, 2009

cuppingmaster - October 28, 2009

BERRYJO - October 28, 2009
GOD I HATE THIS JETER NONSENSE
stormtown - October 28, 2009
I'll watch four hours of HD Derek Jeter every game
if it means that the Yankees get shutout every game and swept.
danmerqury - October 28, 2009
masochist
OakA'sHoney - October 28, 2009
Yeah, after reading my comment over, I'm having second thoughts.

worldblee - October 28, 2009
They're allowed ONE mistake.
They’ve earned it.
danmerqury - October 28, 2009
Do you think if Pimp C were still with us....
Steinbrenner would have invited UGK to join Jay-Z tomorrow night to serenade the $2,500 seats with a (CLEAN) rendition of “Big Pimpin’” during the 7th inning stretch?
GreenNGoldSooner - October 28, 2009
I only understood about half of that
sirbed - October 28, 2009
You got half?
Enlighten me.
danmerqury - October 28, 2009
I read it again and my knowledge has dropped to 32%
sirbed - October 28, 2009
Glad I could confuse you so....
That is all.
GreenNGoldSooner - October 28, 2009
This is kind of a weird choice by Manuel
Nick - October 28, 2009

BERRYJO - October 28, 2009

Great win
CC pitched well but Cliff was awesome. Let’s hope these two great pitchers can go again in game 4
sirbed - October 28, 2009

cuppingmaster - October 28, 2009
Wow, those are some great interview questions
worldblee - October 28, 2009
Radio guy:
Cliff, what was your secret to success tonight?
Lee: Throw strikes, mix speeds, stay out of the heart of the plate.
I will lay awake for hours tonight, thinking about these pearls of wisdom.
Soaker - October 28, 2009
Well, see you all tomorrow.
Pedro vs. Burnett. Should be a good one.
danmerqury - October 28, 2009
I really like Cliff Lee's attitude.
“I’ve never been nervous in the Big Leagues”
So much better than F-raud-style fist-pumping nonsense!
GreenNGoldSooner - October 28, 2009
Come on Ozzie, drop some F bombs!
cuppingmaster - October 28, 2009
Who thought having him do commentary was a good idea?
Fox is insane.
ZigFan31 - October 28, 2009
