I’ve have quite a bit of family in Texas and I’ve spent more time there then I’d like and you can ask anyone who lives there and they’ll tell you Austin is very different from the rest of the state.

that the whole of the state is a lot more varied than it’s given credit for

it's a huge state with a lot of people in it

and if I had to live there Austin is where I’d go. Of course college towns are always a little different from the rest of the state.

I think what I love about Austin is that it's a really odd place

it’s part olde america, part high tech, part old Texas, part new Texas, part blazing heat, part Bay Area fog; I really don’t think there’s anywhere like it in the world.

considering I live in Texas now…

It’s really not that bad. The tail end of the summer was obnoxiously hot and humid, but that’s to be expected. We’ve been getting a surprising amount of rain, which gives it that Florida jungle feeling. But it’s not the hell-hole that some people might make it out to be.

And apparently Austin is awesome. I was there twice last week but just at UT’s library and at a movie theatre, so I haven’t had the chance to explore yet.

where in Texas do you live?

Waco… which, honestly, isn’t the greatest town/city. But it works. And within driving distance of Dallas/Ft Worth and Austin.

BTW – When I went to the HOF one of the more interesting things was the case that had all the rings in it. But I’m partial to jewelry.

Now the 8 2nd place teams are playing in 4 matchups, with the winner of each matchup advancing. The format is a home-and-home pair of games, decided by aggregate score — so the players should be saying, “Well, we really just need to take it two games at a time!”
