The Phillies and Dodgers face off in Philly as the Dodgers try and get the series back home for Game 6. The Phillies send 2008 playoff hero Cole Hamels to the hill to try and end the series while the Dodgers counter with Vincente Padilla who has been fanatstic in his two outings so far in these playoffs.
Game time is 5:07 PM...See ya then!

Oh Philadelphia Freedom, shine on me
(keep us free from that punk-ass bitch Padilla winning a WS ring)
doctorK - October 21, 2009
Looks like Sager made a suit of out old curtains
Go Dodgers!
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
He's using the WHOLE living room - couch yesterday, curtain's today
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
Should I listen to the Philly broadcast, or the LA broadcast?
Vinska Lee doesn’t do PxP anymore, so I’m torn.
Elvez - October 21, 2009
LA for Vin Scully
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
gymnastics?
mikev - October 21, 2009
That was RIPPED!!
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
Just like the A's got ripped off in that trade
JustinIcon19 - October 21, 2009
The A's with Milton Bradley
made it to the ALCS in 2006.
The Dodgers meanwhile have made it to the NLCS twice with Ethier… and Manny.
Hit4TheCycle - October 21, 2009
crap
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
Why is Padilla always greasy?
JustinIcon19 - October 21, 2009
Haha
Go Phillies!

This game is insane.

What did Manny do to his hair??
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
he took a shower the other night
must have washed it
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
Left the dugout early....maybe he stayed in too long!
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
Go Dodgers but Boo Padilla...seems to be working okay tonight.
pam5981 - October 21, 2009
Hey - Pam
How are ya?
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
Doing okay. Too much on my plate right now but I'm hanging. You?
pam5981 - October 21, 2009
Literally - falling asleep (staying up too late).
I’m pretty busy at work too….just glad I can relax a bit & watch!
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
Well,
gosh, at a loss for words to describe in summary, Game Five between LA and Phil.
Not really vested in either team.
That Broxton blown save/loss was interesting, seeing the pattern this 2009 playoffs.
One won lost won - October 21, 2009
Padilla looked like he was gonna cry there..
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
Hee.
pam5981 - October 21, 2009
He'll get the loss as long as there is no change in who's winning - right?
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
Good.
ElQuesoCapitan - October 21, 2009
Hello all.
ElQuesoCapitan - October 21, 2009

I miss fireworks…

Doubt that.

brian.only - October 21, 2009
i'm chopping vegetables in the kitchen - scream loudly if something exciting happens, thx!
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
BASES LOADED!!!!
was that loud enough?
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
Not too loudly, we don't want to startle you when you're chopping
Englishmajor - October 21, 2009
And when I finally got home and fired up the TV a short while back,
I was greeted with Fergie languishes in the jungle singing that she was “waiting for” me on the direct tv commercial that I seem to get off on.
ak_A - October 21, 2009
That sounds like some good karma....
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
on average, I am more than often greeted by the obnoxious Progressive perky gal
ak_A - October 21, 2009
Oh yeah....I always mute her.
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
How is it only the 4th inning?
I love baseball, but two and a half – three hours for a game seems a reasonable length, to me.
I’m blaming Selig, of course
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
"okay Bob, we are through with the Chinese water torture" (bob) "that was quick?"
“But Bob, dry off and go sit in the tv room to watch the NLCS game for the rest of the evening.”
ak_A - October 21, 2009
Maybe I should only start watching half way through
though, this one’s pretty much over now, isn’t it
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
Is this the second HBP run of the playoffs?
crazy.
brian.only - October 21, 2009
utley is cute
and luckily he struck out
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
what are you making for dinner?
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
vegetarian chili
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
put some turkey in that
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
doesn't need it
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
utley and ethier requested i make it this way
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
i hope you poisoned it then
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
for utley
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
the real play offs are later tonight
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
lol
okay suzy baby
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
it won't be televised tho
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
darn I had my DVR all set up
sirbed - October 21, 2009
and it better not take as long as this game
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
that's my kinda chili
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
If you're ever in Texas OAH
don’t ask for vegetarian chili….they might arrest you
sirbed - October 21, 2009
i was in texas this year
i think everything meal available related to a cow or pig
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
that sounds about right and down there
chili doesn’t even have beans in it just slow cooked beef and spices.
sirbed - October 21, 2009
I've had plenty of vegetarian food in Austin
not just Pizza, either
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
Austin isn't really in Texas
sirbed - October 21, 2009
The first time I went there, I was on the bus, and a lady remarked that
‘it sure is purdy this time of year’.
it’s Texas.
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
Sorry bob but Austin isn't anything like the rest of Texas
sirbed - October 21, 2009
Right, but that's lie saying downtown Houston isn't like the rest of Texas, or Laredo, etc
Texas is all those things, no?
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
uh no
I’ve have quite a bit of family in Texas and I’ve spent more time there then I’d like and you can ask anyone who lives there and they’ll tell you Austin is very different from the rest of the state.
sirbed - October 21, 2009
ok, yeah. You are right. I guess my point is
that the whole of the state is a lot more varied than it’s given credit for
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
it's a huge state with a lot of people in it
and if I had to live there Austin is where I’d go. Of course college towns are always a little different from the rest of the state.
sirbed - October 21, 2009
I think what I love about Austin is that it's a really odd place
it’s part olde america, part high tech, part old Texas, part new Texas, part blazing heat, part Bay Area fog; I really don’t think there’s anywhere like it in the world.
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
It's a fun town
but I usually end up in Dallas which isn’t all that fun
sirbed - October 21, 2009
yeah, I've been to Dallas a few times for work
It’s better than Houston.
….
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
austin is cool, dallas not
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
the only thing cool about Dallas
is that it’s named after Dallas Braden.
At least, this is my understanding of it
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
Houston is hell on earth in August
I was there for a convention once in August and my brain melted it was so hot.
sirbed - October 21, 2009
the airport smells like popcorn
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
The Police are like the rest of Texas though...
brian.only - October 21, 2009
don't get arrested in Texas is my advice
I’m not even sure you get a trial
sirbed - October 21, 2009
i'll make a mental note
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
If I never go to Texas again that would be fine by me
sirbed - October 21, 2009
I think I'm moving there next summer
I just can’t afford the Bay Area much more
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
resist
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
seriously
I actually really like Texas. Austin, especially
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
i hope you like heat
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
I can learn to cope, I think
I think part of the appeal to me, as well as halving my rent, is that it’ll be a little unsettling to live there.
It’s really so easy to live in the bay area, especially as a stereotypically liberal vegetarian, and I’d quite like to shake it up a bit. That might be a bit willfully obtuse, but fuck it. I can always leave, right
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
i see what you mean
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
And humidity
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
I'd move to Wisconsin, but Texas -- no way
Englishmajor - October 21, 2009
gotta jump in on the end of the TX conversation,
considering I live in Texas now…
It’s really not that bad. The tail end of the summer was obnoxiously hot and humid, but that’s to be expected. We’ve been getting a surprising amount of rain, which gives it that Florida jungle feeling. But it’s not the hell-hole that some people might make it out to be.
And apparently Austin is awesome. I was there twice last week but just at UT’s library and at a movie theatre, so I haven’t had the chance to explore yet.
whiteshoes40 - October 21, 2009
where in Texas do you live?
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
Waco… which, honestly, isn’t the greatest town/city. But it works. And within driving distance of Dallas/Ft Worth and Austin.
whiteshoes40 - October 21, 2009
Yeah, I've driven past there
on the way to Austin from Dallas, I think.
I guess that’s the wrong side of the town, but have you ever been to Round Rock? It’s about twenty miles North of Austin.
Reason I ask is that’s the nearest minor league baseball team to Austin itself…
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
I went shopping at the outlets in Round Rock
but haven’t seen much else of it. What minor league team is there?
whiteshoes40 - October 21, 2009
The Round Rock Express
link
AAA Houston…
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
awesome.
I should go to a game when they play the River Cats. It doesn’t get much more hardcore than away fans at minor league games…
whiteshoes40 - October 21, 2009
Well I'm glad it works for you
whiteshoes40. It’s always better to live someplace you like.
sirbed - October 21, 2009

brian.only - October 21, 2009
Much wap a pap.
brian.only - October 21, 2009
Bye - Cole....
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
early on in the season when the MLB tv ad
with Cole on the mound and the “oh Dad” thing…..well, okay I knew Cole Hammels, who he was, but when he spoke in that ad “Who are you?” in that high nerdy voice – his voice did not match his body.
ak_A - October 21, 2009
I know, right? Beckham-esque
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
yes!
ak_A - October 21, 2009
Let's go Dodgers!
Come on Belliard!
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
taking a poll: i discovered turkey burgers in my fridge with a 10/18/09 expiration date
should i chance making them tomorrow or play it safe and toss?
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
poultry?
toss it. beef okay, but not poultry
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
yea better safe than sorry
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
I'd toss any sort of turkey burger
no matter the date
sirbed - October 21, 2009
not meaty enough for you?
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
I've never had a good one
beef is better for burgers
sirbed - October 21, 2009
i have some 73/27 beef in the fridge right now
that’s gonna make me a tasty burger tomorrow
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
sounds yummy honey
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
73/27 beef...wow I like 93/7 for my ground beef
sirbed - October 21, 2009
that good for meatloaf
73/27 makes one juicy burger
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
I've never even seen 73/27
I just don’t like a lot of fat and besides I have a recipe that works perfect for a more ground sirloin type of beef.
sirbed - October 21, 2009
What color are they?
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
I just got home and turned this game on
I don’t think I can watch anymore of these 12 hour games from the first inning anymore.
sirbed - October 21, 2009
start watching in the 4th like the rest of us
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
I was thinking more like the 6th or 7th inning
sirbed - October 21, 2009
Anything interesting going on in the game?
pam5981 - October 21, 2009
manny jogged to first after a check swing
nothing new though
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
ok , what's a check swing?
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
my bad
checked swing. a halfway swing.
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
so a checked swing is really a ball?
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
well he swung
and accidentally hit the ball so it was in play. if you check your swing, and don’t hit the ball, but you cross the plane of the plate then it’s a strike. if you do the same but don’t cross the plane, then it’s a ball.
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
okay so if his feet move over the plate is the difference? or do you mean bat?
sorry for not knowing as much as the rest of the ANers
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
the bat
either way, a short def for a checked swing is a halfway swing. like berryjo said, started to swing then stopped.
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
NO the player thought about swinging - started to and then decided it wasn't a good idea
or that the pitch was a ball so s/he checks or stops the swing. Problem is if it crossed the plate – it’s a strike
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
a swing made out of people from Checkoslovakia
sirbed - October 21, 2009
The very BEST kind of Czech swing
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
I got it on, even with volume but I cannot seem
to pay any attention to it.
ak_A - October 21, 2009
this.
pam5981 - October 21, 2009
caray darling and martinez
are about the most boring announcers ever. where are ken and vince?
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
in wisconsin
ElQuesoCapitan - October 21, 2009
Buck Martinez occasionally says something useful
but Ron Darling is pretty useless. It’s pretty much an unending string of cliches from him.
Nick - October 21, 2009
I just read Ron Darling's book and it's quite good though
Perhaps they should have booked his ghostwriter instead. Darling has nothing but nice things to say about his time with the A’s, LaRussa and the organization of the time, and Alameda County.
Englishmajor - October 21, 2009
Ha, or had his ghostwriter there in the background, feeding him lines
that’d be pretty awesome
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
Well - I'm a little partial to Alameda Co too....having spent most of my life here.....
Hooray for the Bay
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
Martinez's voice is ANNOYING
who will we get for the series?
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
joe buck and someone else
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
joe buck, buck martinez
it’s all a Buck teAse to me
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009

selling cheesesteaks in the stands
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
you got me all excited
i thought you said cheesecake
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
mmmm cheesecake
you gonna make us some dessert suzy baby?
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
how about a fudgesicle?
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009

cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
well i think trav is selling them, go find him
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009

ElQuesoCapitan - October 21, 2009
easy to do.....it's the sort attention span theatre of the mind
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
I hear ypu
But just remember: November, December, January, February, March.
Englishmajor - October 21, 2009
I'll pay attention during the next series.
pam5981 - October 21, 2009
assuming nothing crazy happens
phillies or evil empire next series?
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
expect, or want to win?
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
want
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
Phillies, I guess
though, I wouldn’t be distraught to see Nick Swisher with a ring
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
Let's just all chip in and get him one....
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
i have a whole box of fruit loops here
we should be able to find one in there. otherwise, there are some quarter toy machines at the grocery store.
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
We can make him one FROM the fruitloops - then all we have to do is find some loose stones.....
BTW – When I went to the HOF one of the more interesting things was the case that had all the rings in it. But I’m partial to jewelry.
The latest ones were all huge and ostentatious – compared to the early ones.
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
seeing a-rod with a ring drowns out everything else.
ElQuesoCapitan - October 21, 2009
this
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
yeah, I'm just trying to look for a silver lining when the inevitable happens
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
maybe I'm crazy but I think the Phillies will beat the Yankees
sirbed - October 21, 2009
i hope you're right
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
I'm right about once a year

sirbed - October 21, 2009
cool, i'm with you
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
i think it's a more even series than it would appear
it depends if cc sabathia 2007 playoffs shows up or cc sabathia 2009 shows up
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
I think CC will show up at about 285
sirbed - October 21, 2009

OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
nah

OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009

cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
250? I don't see it
he’s a big dude. Heck I’ve coached plenty of 250 high school football players and they weren’t as big as CC
sirbed - October 21, 2009
wow you guys are right
290

Damn that might be my sirbed is right
moment for the year.
sirbed - October 21, 2009
so the Yanks will win then
damn
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
We can try to get him ANOTHER right moment of the year
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
I don't know it's usually only the one
so the Phillies might be in trouble
sirbed - October 21, 2009
He's 6'7"
That’s a big guy
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
depends on what he has for lunch
sirbed - October 21, 2009
or how many lunches he has
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
well whatever he's doing it's working for him
sirbed - October 21, 2009
per the yankees website
he is 290
OAH wins
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
so was sirbed
sirbed - October 21, 2009
OAH wins
sounds like mortal kombat. what’s your fatality?
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009

where’s my prize for winning? sirbed gets one too
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
I'm treating myself to a cookie
sirbed - October 21, 2009
video games
never mind. fudgsicles for all!
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
slurp
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
They are playing so well...will carry some momentum into the series for sure
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
Oh, don't get me wrong, I think the Phillies are well capable of winning
I just get the feeling that the Yanks will win and piss me off.
There’s no analysis here, just ego-centrism
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
That's the way things ususally go for me too!!
I just hate that the Yankees have such a gigantic payroll and ALL that fawning by the east coast sports press!!
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
Phillies
Englishmajor - October 21, 2009
Oh, Phils for sure.
I don’t really care about them but can’t root for NY.
pam5981 - October 21, 2009
Phillies
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
i think you miss hearing about dibs and chef rodney
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
WTF belliard
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
Ah, the NLCS
Where we learn that Padilla, Wolf, Kuroda, Blanton, and Hamels are “ok,” but Chad Durbin is fantastic.
Nico - October 21, 2009
That's game pretty much
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
that makes me sad cos if yankees win tomorrow then no baseball until next wednesday
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
It's quite possible I can get some work done in the next week
Maybe not such a bad idea.
Nico - October 21, 2009
now why would you want to do that?
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
Not sure about you - but I have a mountain of letters to write.....
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
I get to do "progress reports"
You know, stuff like “Esmeralda is emerging as a dental learner” to mean “It would be great if your goddamn daughter would stop biting the other kids.”
Nico - October 21, 2009
i think you should write it without the fluffy euphemisms, tell them the truth
; )
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
That would be fun
“As a teacher, obviously I don’t have kids I like and kids I don’t like. However, with your son I’ll make an exception.”
Nico - October 21, 2009
then see if the parent(s) actually understand what you said
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
+++++++
hehehehe
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
Oh.....I've got letters of recommendations. and a million parent conferences since
grades just came out. So many meetings – I can’t get the writing done at work. I close my door to write and am constantly interrupted. I just ahve to bring it home or it’d never get done!!
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
i have a bunch of abstracts to read
maybe i could do that until then… maybe not
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
that break is beyond stupid
it’s all for TV of course but if you look at the ratings especially the NLCS on TBS maybe they should try something different as it’s barely beating wrestiling among 18-49 year olds and it’s getting killed by the NFL
sirbed - October 21, 2009
did you see the commercial for "house of payne" earlier
it’s like they’re waiting for the LCS to be over so they can show crappy sitcoms.
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
probably get better ratings
these games are too damn slow and something needs to be done.
sirbed - October 21, 2009
All through the game on Fox yesterday (I think? this week is blurring a bit), they were talking
about the episode of House coming up.
I mean, I like House, but seriously?
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
Well baseball going late hurt House in the ratings on Monday is what I read
so I’m sure FOX was pissed
sirbed - October 21, 2009
Well - House fans were probably pissed as well....just a pissy night all the way around, then
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
I wasn't ticked but I'm glad I was watching the game
as I have House set up on my DVR and if I wasn’t watching the game I would have only taped about half the show.
sirbed - October 21, 2009
I had something taping the other day and it taped like three times for 400 minutes each time
Problem was it erased my stuff I hadn’t even watched!! Like the Office wedding show!!!
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
I've never had that happen but that would be horrible
sirbed - October 21, 2009
I save it up for when there's nothing on!
I had to do something other than veg out in front of the tube!! Imagine that!
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
I have about 20 movies on mine
and we never watch a show live at the sirbed castle.
sirbed - October 21, 2009
When I have to watch a commercial it's a bummer!
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
Like during BB games......
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
yep news and sports is where they get you
sirbed - October 21, 2009
Dodgers losing again... sure, why not.
So I’m deciding if I should watch this week’s “Lie to Me” or do some reading that I really need to do. You can probably tell that I’m leaning toward the non-productive choice…
whiteshoes40 - October 21, 2009
Too late to read - right?
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
absolutely.
plus today was insane. Margarita with dinner was helpful, but also made me sleepy, so… yeah, I’m gonna relax for the rest of the night.
whiteshoes40 - October 21, 2009
I love the fact that the Dodgers haven't been to the World Series since 1988
that curse I put on them is working!
sirbed - October 21, 2009
chan ho park
who knew?
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
well maybe the angels will be able to draw out the drama by not blowing it tomorrow
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
i kinda think slingblade will make a game of it
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
which one is slingblade?
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
gotta be Lackey
sirbed - October 21, 2009
Radio guys were talking about how he might go to TX??
He’s a free agent – right?
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
I heard Texas as well
I’d like to see him go to the NL myself
sirbed - October 21, 2009
He should think about that....with all that mouth breathing - he might be eating tons of
little flying bugs…..
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
He'd be crazy to go to that bandbox of a ballpark
sirbed - October 21, 2009
Houston, then??
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
If I were him I'd stay with the Angels if the money was close
I know we hate them but they’re a well run team.
sirbed - October 21, 2009
We prolly only hate him b/c he's on THAT team
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
I'd love him if he pitched for the A's
sirbed - October 21, 2009
Actually, I think I'd hate him but be glad we had him
Nico - October 21, 2009
oh you'd warm up to him Nico
but I don’t know what do you think the chances are that good ol’ Lew signs him? .000000000000000001% maybe?
sirbed - October 21, 2009
I think you're high
Your estimate, I mean.
Nico - October 21, 2009
ya man hey.....cool
anybody got any cheetos?
sirbed - October 21, 2009
I don't know if anyone else has had 'Red Oval' beer from Trader Joes
but it’s $2.99 for a six pack. $2.99!!!!
and quite drinkable, too.
One of my new favorite things, is for sure
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
sounds like the 2 buck chuck of beers
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
I've never liked beer
but I have friends and family that are walking kegs
sirbed - October 21, 2009
It's better than that
It’s fairly bland, I’ll give you, but doesn’t have that terrible aftertaste of, say, Coors Light.
Straight out of Monroe, Wisconsin.
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
Wisconsin beer
is it made out of snow and cheese?
sirbed - October 21, 2009
I dunno
but I just looked it up on google maps, and it took a lot of zooming out before I saw somewhere I recognized
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
I've never been to Wisconsin
and I’m fine with that
sirbed - October 21, 2009
It's really nice, actually
Englishmajor - October 21, 2009
Inexpensive, lotsa friendly people.
brian.only - October 21, 2009
I'm sure it's great but I hate cold weather
sirbed - October 21, 2009
Thats why I live here my friend. ;)
brian.only - October 21, 2009
It's only too cold for half the year
The other half it’s too hot.
Englishmajor - October 21, 2009
Yeah summers are 80's- 90's- 99% humidity.
There is no summer in the bay.
brian.only - October 21, 2009
It cools off after dark
But it doesn’t really matter because the bugs will eat you alive the moment you step out the door.
Englishmajor - October 21, 2009
so uh why is it nice there then?
sirbed - October 21, 2009
Lots of character, weirdos, and things are really casual.
Oh and cheap.
My last rent was $350 for 4000 sqft.
brian.only - October 21, 2009
Wow $350 is cheap
my first rent when I went off to college was $75 for half a house that I shared with my best friend. We were Sacramento boys so it was the cheapest rent we’d ever seen.
sirbed - October 21, 2009
so it's too cold or too hot
sounds like Lawrence, Kansas which was the coldest place I’ve ever lived in and I did that when I was 19-26 and I was tougher back then
sirbed - October 21, 2009
Only good WI beers are Microbrews.
But I did have the Oval and it was pretty good for ‘horse-piss’.
brian.only - October 21, 2009
it's not the worst equine urine I've tasted, is for sure
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
that green monster mascot just makes me glad we have stomper
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
Does anyone else remember Crazy George?
sirbed - October 21, 2009
Yes
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
is he the guy who started the wave?
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
Of course!
ZigFan31 - October 21, 2009
My Dad went to high school in Napa with him
sirbed - October 21, 2009
Very cool!
ZigFan31 - October 21, 2009
Sure
Nick - October 21, 2009
How do you know one of us isn't Crazy George?
Englishmajor - October 21, 2009
the Phanatic is a classic
in the “wow, that san diego chicken knock-off is still around? Classic.”
Future Ed - October 21, 2009
That's the Philly Phanatic
Nick - October 21, 2009
it's sad
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
People here love him/her/it
and the Phanatic was one of the first weirdo mascots in MLB. Probably one of the only icons in Philly sports history who’s never been booed.
Nick - October 21, 2009
ok, sorry
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
I have no problem if you don't like the Phanatic, FWIW
but Philadelphians are kind of proud/defensive of him/her/it in a way that they’re not, for instance, about the stupid bunny rabbit they have at Sixers games.
Nick - October 21, 2009
It's a kind of wierd and wacky mascot....
Are people from Philly like that?
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
My favorite bits of Philadelphia boo-ing
1. Santa Claus
2. Sarah Palin
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
On the reverse, Philadelphia Cheer-ing
a downed Michael Irvin.
Hit4TheCycle - October 21, 2009
Hell they booed Mike Schmidt there
it’s a tough town
sirbed - October 21, 2009
Phillies take it.

BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
I just saw there is no outs!
brian.only - October 21, 2009
One now.....that was an important one to get!
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
Typical

bobnothing - October 21, 2009
Thanks bob....it's all up to oyu!
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009

BERRYJO - October 21, 2009

BERRYJO - October 21, 2009

BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
Was that strike 3 tv folk?
brian.only - October 21, 2009

BERRYJO - October 21, 2009

bobnothing - October 21, 2009
Outside corner
Should have been.
Hit4TheCycle - October 21, 2009
thx all
brian.only - October 21, 2009
Nobody leaves early in Philly
Hit4TheCycle - October 21, 2009
No kidding!!! That place is gonna explode if they win!
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
Well that was certainly exciting!
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
i'm mentally exhausted
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
that's me after a Raider game
I’m spent in everyway and usually not happy at least for the last 7 years
sirbed - October 21, 2009
wait, that was only the 8th???
I gotta put on my pants and go out
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
why bother with the pants now?
it’s dark outside
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
I'd put on the pants
you could get in trouble going out into the night without pants
sirbed - October 21, 2009
I gotta wear pants
or else there will be some painful scrotum – bike saddle interaction.
no-one likes chafing, huh
bobnothing - October 21, 2009
Can you be late?? HAHAHa
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
Turn out the lights and have the fat lady warm up
because this one is about over.
sirbed - October 21, 2009
Who's closing??
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
unless it's Lidge the Phillies are safe
oh wait
sirbed - October 21, 2009
Yeah that was their chance there.
brian.only - October 21, 2009
:(
drmmerchk - October 21, 2009
Playoff games are the best.....I want to go to one again - sooner than later!
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
i went to one in '06 but A's lost : (
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
last one I went to was walk off bunt
doesn’t get better than that game
Future Ed - October 21, 2009
me too.
awesome game.
whiteshoes40 - October 21, 2009
2010 isnt totally out of the question.
I mean no ‘Hole-a-day’, BoCro, and ‘Nomore’ right?
brian.only - October 21, 2009
I'm hoping.....but the AN braintrust seems to think it'll more likely be 2011
If we can just win more games next year…..the eternal hope of the die hard fan, huh?
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
We did REALLY well w/ pretty much nothing the 2nd half of the season.
That,s our 2010 lineup pretty much sans Kennedy and Crosby.
brian.only - October 21, 2009
August was pretty fun....Sept - not so much!
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
Team pretty much gave up when we lost a chance at winning .500 imho.
brian.only - October 21, 2009
You may be right
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
I hope they add a hitter or two
sirbed - October 21, 2009
I haven't been to a playoff game since 1992 vs the Blue Jays game 5
sirbed - October 21, 2009
Even though it's not an emergency
The Phillies are choosing to use The Matt Stairs.
Hit4TheCycle - October 21, 2009
Why did they do that?
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
rollins from oakland or alameda
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009

BERRYJO - October 21, 2009

cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009

OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
i think slingblade will win tomorow
not that i want this, but i think he will
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
i hope they drag it out
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
What time does that game start?
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
same bat time
different bat channel
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
I don't think I'll be home in time.....you guys can have a blast w/o me!
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009

OMG BRAD LIDGE IS SO CLUTCH
mikev - October 21, 2009
LOL
he’s got that grit. GRIT.
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
He came to play
Nick - October 21, 2009
gotta take one game at a time
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
You know what's funny about that
in the European World Cup qualification, they first phase is over, in which the winner of each group advanced to the WC next summer. Now the 8 2nd place teams are playing in 4 matchups, with the winner of each matchup advancing. The format is a home-and-home pair of games, decided by aggregate score — so the players should be saying, “Well, we really just need to take it two games at a time!”
Nick - October 21, 2009
Soccer is very tournament oriented....
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
remind me to watch a soccer postgame interview sometime
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
Pulled it together when they needed it!
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
i'm tingly
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
Well you cant say they didn't earn it.
Those were awesome comebacks.
brian.only - October 21, 2009

Englishmajor - October 21, 2009

godspeed, Phillies
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
damn.
drmmerchk - October 21, 2009
The Phillies can't even decide on a victory song
“Won’t Get Fooled Again” and then, what the hell is this, some Van Hagar monstrosity?
Nick - October 21, 2009
I heard Celebration the other night!
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
there you go
cuppingmaster - October 21, 2009
if they play van halen at least let it be with david lee roth
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009
Yeah, I'm just guessing about that song
but Van Hagar is what it sounded like to me.
Now they’re playing “Celebration.” Gack.
Nick - October 21, 2009
We were having a minute of outrage since that's clearly OUR song!!
BERRYJO - October 21, 2009
we need a new song
OakA'sHoney - October 21, 2009

“I wanna rock and roll all night”
