I write this on my way out the door; I'm going to the Dodgers game today. Yes, at 1pm, effectively eliminating most of Los Angeles from watching their team on TV today. Don't even get me started with MLB's ban on the word "Dodgers" on the radio, either. It seems like they are doing the opposite of promoting baseball in SoCal, but I'm still going to go, looking for the Dodgers to even the series after coming up on the wrong end of last night's slugfest. Today's game will feature Padilla against Pedro. Here's to a great game!
The prime time game tonight will, of course, be the Yankees CC Sabathia against John Lackey. Now, that's a match-up. I'll be back in the thread for that one.
Happy Friday, all!

actually
could you get started on the ban of using “Dodgers” on the radio? i have no idea what the deal is
jlanning17 - October 16, 2009
Sorry I'm late -- has Padilla been ejected yet?
Nico - October 16, 2009
No way! He won't be plunking anyone now that he's in the NL
Ray of Lite - October 16, 2009
He was already kind of a headhunter in Philly, though, wasn't he?
Nico - October 16, 2009
I'm sure you're right
Whenever I malign someone’s character, I find it helpful not to check the facts.
Ray of Lite - October 16, 2009
My policy is "malign first, check facts later."
Then I usually forget to check the facts. But you, as a tax-evading pedophile, probably know all about that.

Day games
You know, I really like day games. I can understand that folks wish it were a weekend day game, but really, baseball did well for decades before there were night games. Frankly, the 50,000 people or so at the stadium will have a great time.
And, since I don’t have cable, the whole TV thing doesn’t matter. I haven’t seen a single game on TV this year, thanks to the A’s abandoning broadcast as well. What can I say? I guess I’m in the minority on this stuff…
KingDuct - October 16, 2009
If the A's were playing at home today,
I’d be there. And AN would be flooded with bloggers pretending to be working. Like they do during the regular season. So yeah, I hear ya.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
LOL at Padilla: 98 career wins, 99 career HBP
Nico - October 16, 2009
So hit batters translate to wins?
Don’t tell him that.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
201 more HBP for the Hall of Fame!
doctorK - October 16, 2009
Just don't tell him that you need to hit 5 to qualify for the win
Nico - October 16, 2009
Pedro vs Pedilla
Headhunters galore today
doctorK - October 16, 2009
Headhunters Gone Wild!
Literally.
Nico - October 16, 2009
Man Padilla has a good arm
Too bad about the whole head/personality thing.
Nico - October 16, 2009
Dodgers need to win this one
Or this will be another boring 4-0 or 4-1 series.
Manstein - October 16, 2009
If Loney tags Ruiz (even while Ruiz is on the bag)
before touching the bag, it’s a DP. The call is correct because Loney removed the force first.
Nico - October 16, 2009
Loney?
Wasn’t Loney one who intentionally dropped the pop-up? Belliard was covering the first base, I believe.
Manstein - October 16, 2009
I suppose you're right
Plus it was ruled a fly out, which makes my entire point irrelevant.
Nico - October 16, 2009
I'm not much of a soccer man,
but damn.
Leopold Bloom - October 16, 2009
Player with nice ass?
Nico - October 16, 2009
Yes?
ZigFan31 - October 16, 2009
agreed.
mikev - October 16, 2009
rawr
ZigFan31 - October 16, 2009
hellarawr
mikev - October 16, 2009
Actually...soccer players are known for their nice legs.
ZigFan31 - October 16, 2009
Have I mentioned I've played soccer since I was 5?
mikev - October 16, 2009
I played Soccer until I was about 16
now I have golfers legs which are of course the best kind.
sirbed - October 16, 2009
wait until i start my swing...
OakA'sHoney - October 16, 2009
my head still hurts
sirbed - October 16, 2009
See...its not just about your BAG.
ZigFan31 - October 16, 2009
sigh...
Yer my favorite
mikev - October 16, 2009
Please expound upon this statement.
mikev - October 16, 2009
Ok, so, Whip It is the second best film I've seen this year.
It’s so good, I nearly cried.
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
What was the best movie of the year then?
sirbed - October 16, 2009
Zombieland?
mikev - October 16, 2009
Haven't seen it yet
but I love the idea of a zombie movie with Woody Harrelson being the best movie.
sirbed - October 16, 2009
Neither have I
but it’s hard to beat a campy as hell zombie flick, isn’t it?
mikev - October 16, 2009
ya I want to see it
it looks like a lot of fun
sirbed - October 16, 2009
The best film I've seen this year is district nine
Thus far, it goes
Dristict Nine
Whip It
Moon
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
So not Transformers 2 then?
I’m 0-3 on having seen the movies you mention although I really want to see Moon.
sirbed - October 16, 2009
Moon's great (though it doesn't, as I claimed when drunk the other day, feature the guy from Quatum Leap)
I haven’t seen Transformers two, and I’d say, it’s unlikely I shall.
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
ya I was being a smart ass about Transformers 2
although it’s frickin’ Citizen Kane compared to the GI Joe movie.
I like Sam Rockwell the actor in Moon although Scott Bakula from Quantam Leap ( a show I liked quite a bit) was good in The Informant the new Soderbergh movie
sirbed - October 16, 2009
I liked Quantum Leap.
Right, shocker.
BTW, the Hangover was a fun ride.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
Oh, I should see that too.
mikev - October 16, 2009
Yes.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
i was also a quantum leap fan
Leopold Bloom - October 16, 2009
Nerd!
oh wait I guess that means I’m a nerd too.
sirbed - October 17, 2009
See, I liked Transformers.
I haven’t seen part 2 yet, but I plan on doing the same thing as I did with the first one.
Turn off my brain for a couple hours and watch the cool explosions and shit.
Why do people sem to be so upset that it’s not some epic, oscar winning flick?
mikev - October 16, 2009
seriously
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
I liked the first one on the same level
and really the 2nd one was fine for what it was but the GI Joe movie I took 3 bathroom breaks during it was so bad.
sirbed - October 16, 2009
Funny People.
Not funny. More like painful.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
I can't stand Seth Rogen
so I decided to just wait for the DVD on that one.
sirbed - October 16, 2009
Yeah, likewise
I’ll see it when it’s on tv and I’m at home, scratching my balls
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
I won't even suggest that.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
wow that bad huh?
sirbed - October 16, 2009
I left early.
I never do that.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
The only film I've ever left early
Was Cable Guy.
terrible, terrible stuff
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
And I like Jim, but yeah.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
Yeah I confused because Sam Rockwell
has the same first name as the character that Scott Bakula plays in Quantum Leap (Sam Beckett).
Also, I am an idiot and quite prone to forgetting things.
I do love Quantum Leap, incidentally. It’s great. And way better than Sliders, which is also good.
Here’s my sell on Whip It:
I’ve you’ve ever played on a crappy amateur sports team, you’ll like it
If you’ve ever moved to a city from a small town to see if the streets are paved with gold, you’ll like it.
It’s about competition, and how that’s good, It’s about the excitement of discovering drinking, and how that’s good, it’s about the rush of physical contact, it’s about how Texas is actually awesome, it’s about how great cheap beer is, it’s aboutthe universality of teams, it’s about family and friends, and it’s about how boys in bands are really stupid.
I kinda want to make out with it
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
Who knew that Drew Barrymore
would direct a good movie? Good for her I’ve always liked her and from what you say about it bobnothing I want to see it now.
sirbed - October 16, 2009
I KNOW
I have to say, I was surprised that it was as good as it is.
Gotta say, this is the sort of film I expected to enjoy (combining roller derby, indie rock and Austin), but I was concerned she might screw it up, some.
It’s not without fault – it’s about 15 minutes too long, and sags a bit in the middle. But fuck it, it means they get to play Jens Lkeman
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
I've noticed for awhile now that most movies are about 15
minutes too long.
My girlfriend loves the Harry Potter movies and that last one seemed to go on about 15 hours too long but hey she puts up with me so I do what I have to do.
sirbed - October 16, 2009
Ha, yeah, I saw Lord of the Rings three with a girl
Because I was under the impression the favour, might be, uh, reciprocated, if you catch my drift.
I was wrong.
I was not pleased with that film.
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
I know a lot of people love those books
and my best friend thinks they are the greatest things ever but I could get through them when I tried to read them and I found the movies to be hard to follow.
sirbed - October 16, 2009
The books are terrible. Just nonsense.
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
we better watch out though
because the people who love those books might have swords
sirbed - October 16, 2009
AND DICE!!!!
amirite?
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
that's funny bobnothing
sirbed - October 16, 2009
Went to Game 1 Last Night
Lots of collective moans and groans in the stands last night. If only you could fuel our energy needs with that.
Hit4TheCycle - October 16, 2009
Me too!
The atmosphere was awesome. I love playoff baseball! And rooting for a team that has the ability to come back and did several times! Too bad they didn’t win.
ZigFan31 - October 16, 2009
wooo! let’s go Dodgers!
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
boo :(
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
Joe Blanton!
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
me likey
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
Hm, he was just standing around drinking out of a cup
Which is nice action shot, if nothing else
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
Was it Adrian Beltre's cup?
Nico - October 16, 2009
It was and what Blanton doesn't know is that we changed his regular coffee
to Taster’s Choice. Let’s see if he notices the difference.
sirbed - October 16, 2009
hehe
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
oh is he wearing one now??
BERRYJO - October 16, 2009
That's how I like him.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
GROUND UP AND IN THE FREEZER?!?
Oh, no… that’s how I like my women
wait, no. my coffee.
wait..
nevermind.
mikev - October 16, 2009
hmm I think you saved it mikev
sirbed - October 16, 2009
it's an either/or for me, really.
mikev - October 16, 2009
Me too
I’m only embarrassed by 64.8% of what I post.
sirbed - October 16, 2009
That's high.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
Hmm 59.6% then?
sirbed - October 16, 2009
that's about right.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
I think you're right 67
hopefully I can get better (worse?) and get over that 60% threshold
sirbed - October 16, 2009
I believe in you.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
This is quite an exciting game, isn't it
Man, today is a good day, huh
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
The best.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
if you want greatness in sports just wait until Sunday
when the Raiders battle the Eagles. Should be the greatest game ever!
sirbed - October 16, 2009
I'll be there!!!
The question is “Why”?
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
I'll be watching and catching all sorts of hell from my friends
but hey it’s my NFL package and I’m watching the damn game until the end. At least we’ll eat good.
sirbed - October 16, 2009
I get that too
only it’s just my package. no NFL involved.
:(
mikev - October 16, 2009
I'll still take it.
ZigFan31 - October 16, 2009
Right now my package is giving me a lot more fun then the NFL package is
sirbed - October 16, 2009
lucky
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
and it was free!
and I no longer have to pay anyone to adjust it
sirbed - October 16, 2009
It's why I go
The food. And the half-naked, drunk latin women.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
the last few Raider games I went to
there was plenty of fully drunk fat white guys. Where are these latin women?
sirbed - October 16, 2009
Yes, do tell 67M.
Maybe I will be coming up for a game.
ZigFan31 - October 16, 2009
I only need to keep you from my Dad.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
And your nephews.
ZigFan31 - October 16, 2009
And niece.
ZigFan31 - October 16, 2009
Wow.
I am suddenly
ashamedproud of my family.67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
O hi.
mikev - October 16, 2009
apparently in Section 127
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
I'm writing this down
sirbed - October 16, 2009
The only greatness in sports on Sunday
will be our Mud Bowl style softball game
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
or maybe the return of the
Bud Bowl
sirbed - October 16, 2009
Ha, yeah, or the 'Red Oval' Bowl
Trader Johns is selling six packs at $2.99 a pop?
Boner.
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
Oh I miss Trader Johns
and Raley’s and Round Table and Togos.
sirbed - October 16, 2009
I mean Trader Joes. hm, apparently, I'm three beers in at a quarter to four
did I mention today was going well?
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
trader joe's rocks
OakA'sHoney - October 16, 2009
See I've been gone so long I called it Trader Johns instead of Joe's
sirbed - October 16, 2009
you need to come back
OakA'sHoney - October 16, 2009
If they start paying teachers more in California
I might think about it
sirbed - October 16, 2009
I figured Trader John's was one of those cute names they use.
Like Trader Jose. Or Trader Giotto.
danmerqury - October 16, 2009
Hey, I still live here and i called it Trader Johns first
so, yknow. It’s not the worst thing.
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
just call it traders, everyone knows what you mean
OakA'sHoney - October 16, 2009
whatever it's called they have some great stuff
sirbed - October 16, 2009
i like their coffee
and frozen brown rice
OakA'sHoney - October 16, 2009
They had this raisin roll/pastry thingie
that I used to love. They also had great cheese and candy.
sirbed - October 16, 2009
With these two pitchers
I sure didn’t think this would be a 1-0 game after 7.
sirbed - October 16, 2009
who's winning?
OakA'sHoney - October 16, 2009
The guys in red.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
the good guys are winning
sirbed - October 16, 2009
darn
OakA'sHoney - October 16, 2009

67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009

A platoon of Ex Dodgers. Padilla an Ex Phillie.
Hit4TheCycle - October 16, 2009
wooo a bae hit!
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
*base
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
woo lets go lets go
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
Aloha.
Wow, not what I expected…this can’t be the same Padilla, is it?
danmerqury - October 16, 2009
It's his brother.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
ahhhh!!! YAY!!!!
Juan Pierre <333333
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
Oh, wow, drmmerchk.
It’s been a while, has it not?
danmerqury - October 16, 2009
I make apperances from time to time lol
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
Tied up.
The game, people. Sheesh.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
Joe Blanton would never have made that mistake
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
Phuckin A
Hit4TheCycle - October 16, 2009
Nice going
Knoblauch
Hit4TheCycle - October 16, 2009
Harsh.
Funny though.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
Utley HAS to be playing with a hurt right arm, right?
I’ve never seen him throw like that and he’s done it twice.
Nico - October 16, 2009
Same thought.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
If only these matchups were switched.
Cause right now it’s
NLCS: don’t mind you vs. don’t mind you
ALCS: HATEHATEHATE vs. HATEHATEHATE
I know who I’m rooting for in the World Series, at least.
danmerqury - October 16, 2009
I'm definitely rooting for hate
I like a winner.
Nico - October 16, 2009
yay, at least it's a game
OakA'sHoney - October 16, 2009
Kinda feel bad for Pedro.
danmerqury - October 16, 2009
Si.
67MARQUEZ - October 16, 2009
he pitched a heck of a game
sirbed - October 16, 2009
You could say "Pedro Martinez held the Dodgers scoreless over 7."
Or “Pedro Martinez was only one run better than Vicente Padilla.”
danmerqury - October 16, 2009
Oh man, the Phillies just tripped and stumbled down nine flights of stairs.
danmerqury - October 16, 2009
I think they kinda threw themselves down it, a bit
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
come on Dodgers!!
I’d looooove to have the lead going into the 9th
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
Looooove
Isn’t that that museum in Paris?
oblique - October 16, 2009
So.... next up
to open the liquor cabinet, or not to open the liquor cabinet?
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
save it for the yankees game
OakA'sHoney - October 16, 2009
Save it?!
Drink during both?
danmerqury - October 16, 2009
hey, I'm celebrating, not drowning sorrows
I’m gonna go drink with my friend on her porch when she gets off work, the Yanks Angels game will not be on my mind
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
If you're on a drunk, you should go see The Jesus Lizard tonight...
I’d totally be there if I weren’t poor and in Sacramento.
Gaijin_Suketto - October 16, 2009
I used to be poor and in Sacramento
sirbed - October 16, 2009
I do like the Jesus Lizard, but I just bought tickets to Melt Banana and The xx
so, gotta lay off that for a bit.
Besides, sitting on a porch and drinking beers seems like a mighty fine thing right now
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
The Yankees are never on my mind
although in my my mind I’m gone to Carolina
sirbed - October 16, 2009
i want to see them lose
OakA'sHoney - October 16, 2009
oh ya I never root for the Yankees
it’s not the thing to do
sirbed - October 16, 2009
GAHH
I had a feeling that would happen
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
Come on Eth!!
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
Now if Ethier hits a GS
We will all be looking at Ryan Sweeney stats and hoping for some signs of a huge breakout year coming.
Manstein - October 16, 2009
Nah, we just gotta start saying Ryan Sweeney in a more French accent
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
ah oui
Ryuhn Sweenee
sirbed - October 16, 2009
ooo la la
OakA'sHoney - October 16, 2009
With an accent mark over the last e?
danmerqury - October 16, 2009
Penultimate e, I'd think
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
Ryuhn Sweenée?
danmerqury - October 16, 2009
perfect
sirbed - October 16, 2009
What a spot.
oblique - October 16, 2009
WOO!!!! I’ll take it!
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
Pitcher #5...
danmerqury - October 16, 2009
Isn't baseball awesome?
Yes.
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
oui
OakA'sHoney - October 16, 2009
Taking three balls with bases loaded
Great job by Ethier
Manstein - October 16, 2009
Classic managing blunder by Manuel
Taking out a pitcher who just demonstrated he brought his A-game that day and replacing him with a pitcher where you have to learn about today’s sharpness with no margin for error. If you make enough pitching changes, eventually you’ll find a guy who isn’t sharp.
Nico - October 16, 2009
(If he wanted Ethier to face a lefty he should either have
left Eyre in for 3 hitters or saved Eyre for Ethier.)
Nico - October 16, 2009
here we go! 9th inning!
what a crazy game. I love baseball!
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
BOTTOM OF THE 8TH...BASES LOADED...SLIM LEAD...MANNY COMES UP!!!
Oh.
danmerqury - October 16, 2009
As much as I want Philadelphia to win this matchup, ultimately
I’d also like it to go the distance, as I’m not going to be enjoyin the ALCS much, and I fear for the WS, too
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
Yeah an interesting series is a priority here
Phillies in the WS would be better because we’d miss the entire “Joe Torre seeks revenge” storyline, though (yes, I’m burying the Angels early – now just watch them win today).
Manstein - October 16, 2009
well...
at least when it comes to the World Series you know you won’t be rooting for the AL team. That’s much easier than the ALCS! haha
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
Yeah, but I fear the AL team will win...
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
:( I hope not
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
There's 2! LETS GO DODGERS!
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
Broxton is something else, isn't he?
He’s been pretty amazing all year.
danmerqury - October 16, 2009
He is insane!
Best kind of closer! I love him haha
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Best kind of non-Bailey closer, right?
Haha.
danmerqury - October 16, 2009
well obviously!
Though to me they’re both in the same category since they throw lots of strikes and go right after guys to get quick saves.
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
Only problem with Phillies or Dodgers winning it all
Insane NL fans who would think that’s a proof of Senior Circuit’s superiority.
Manstein - October 16, 2009
If the Phillies win it all again they can claim they're superior
sirbed - October 16, 2009
If that's the only problem, I'll take it every day and twice on Sunday.
A Yankees victory would be just godawful.
danmerqury - October 16, 2009
it can't happen, it just can't
OakA'sHoney - October 16, 2009
Go Dodgers!!
Poo on ALCS. This is gonna be crap.
cuppingmaster - October 16, 2009 via mobile
When I find myself rooting for John Lackey
I know things have gotten bad.
Nico - October 16, 2009
I can't believe you just said that aloud
I’m hoping for the end of this series however it happens. I don’t want either team to win, just for one to lose.
cuppingmaster - October 16, 2009 via mobile
Yep....so cold
after the winning game, the winners are too chilled to show much, except crowding around the heaters. "Uhhh…no champagne right now! I’m f-f-f-fuckin’ f-f-f-f-rrrreezin’!!
One won lost won - October 16, 2009
I'm rooting for Vic Mackey
sirbed - October 16, 2009
Well, time to start the Fox Network/Yankees postseason drinking game
Which is: take a drink every time they show a shot of Jeter’s mother and father on their telecast.

is that he takes 4 sentences to say what could be said in 1 sentence and then he feels that he’s so clever because of this. I think it’s funny.
sirbed - October 16, 2009
Could be worse....you could be listening to "Fire" Joe Morgan on the radio feed!!
We have lots of choice for this drinking game
BERRYJO - October 16, 2009
Or everytime, when any sort of game incident happens
Home run, strike out, play at the plate, umpire throws ball back to pitcher, they cut to Jeter for a reaction shot.
You’ll need some more drinks, I feel
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
So if you can't join me in rooting for career-ending injuries
why not root for humiliation and frustration? Blown saves, bases loaded popups, errors, strikeouts on balls that bounce a few feet in front of the plate. How else to get through this?
stormtown - October 16, 2009
Yeah, I don't want any sort of physical pain inflicted
but hey, psychic distress? I’m in.
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
or psychological distress - even better
BERRYJO - October 16, 2009
Haha, that sounds like a plan.
Anything that makes those two teams look ridiculous.
danmerqury - October 16, 2009
well so far your plan seems to be working
the Angels are all over the place
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
starting to really get into the NL series
both games have been totally riveting. Ethier walks with the bases loaded to win the game, I wonder what organization he learned to do that in?
Don’t trip too hard on the slegnApoli’s and the Steinbrennians and the ALCS… if ol’ Billy Bob Slingblade is anything like usual and they get a lead and hold it, the Bankees will fold up quicker than A-Rod’s cellphone in the remaining 3 games, they’ll start a-payroll-pressin’ and the Angels starters will dominate. I don’t like it any more than anyone else on here, but I’d be real surprised if they didn’t win the whole thing… to me it’s like the other teams have “I want to win the WS” and the Halos have “I have to win the World Series because my friend died, and when I remember him years and decades from now when I’m old, I wanna think of how we came together at the end when we said we’d win it in his memory and got it done.” So I know it’s weird and it kinda sucks for us, but real life Gippers are tough to beat so we have to wear it.
emperor nobody - October 16, 2009
This NLCS is starting to smell like a 7 game series
either that or I’m burning dinner.
sirbed - October 16, 2009
I was wonderinging if the whole system is just a bit unfair ....
Many clubs with good scouting (the A’s) sign and develop great talent and SOME teams with huge payrolls (the Yankees) then don’t have to do the same work ‘cuz they don’t have to. They can just buy whomever they need.
Not saying this is factual – but just s/t I was thinking about while commuting home listening to the game.

GO YANKS!!!
baseballnut020 - October 16, 2009
how was that NOT called an error?
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
I don't think the statheads have yet figured out
a way to offset the effect of asinine official scoring.
Soaker - October 16, 2009
They need to invent the "half error"
“a 1/2 for you, Chone-y and a 1/2 for Bar-bars…”
Nico - October 16, 2009
If you can get 0.5 sacks, you should be able to get 0.5 errors.
danmerqury - October 16, 2009
I've asked at Andronico's and they won't do it.
Nico - October 16, 2009
I think it's next to the catfood?
In Andronico’s, everything is next to the catfood
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
Ugly
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
Typical -- the only time the Angels do anything wrong
is the only time I want them to do well.
Nico - October 16, 2009
isn't that the truth
I already feel dirty rooting for them so the least they could do is play well.
sirbed - October 16, 2009
yeah

Now’s the time to try it out!!

The slegnA will get one-hit, and the Yakkees will score in every inning but the ninth!

er, ...the slegnA will get two-hit! and
then all that other stuff..

A's fan by design
needs to make some sweet graphics of opposing players…. Sling Blade Lackey anyone?
A'sian - October 16, 2009
Since one can never pile on McCarver too much:
IT’S A CHANGEUP. Sabathia’s 85MPH “fastball” or “sinker” you keep referring to. It’s a changeup. You may have noticed he throws his fastball a wee bit faster than 85MPH. You may have noticed that hitters are lunging out in front of this “fastbally-sinkery thing.” Or you may not have because you’re Tim McCarver.

Swisher = only Yankee I can root for
Pretty much, anyway.
worldblee - October 16, 2009
I quite like Jonny Damon, due to him pissing off so many people in Boston.
Must be doing something right, right?
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
Yeah, I got nothing against Damon
But I am extremely happy to see Jeter strike out w/ two runners on.

Yeah, this really is one for Schadenfreud fans
bobnothing - October 16, 2009

I know Mark Teixeira has played for TEX, LAA, and NYY,

danmerqury - October 16, 2009
I have the feeling we all knew he would eventually be a Yankee...
BERRYJO - October 16, 2009
You didn't think he was headed to D.C. then?
Nico - October 16, 2009
Nah.....I was skeered of him when he was in TEX just beginning his career...
BERRYJO - October 16, 2009
Well, that flies for:
Albert Pujols
Chase Utley
Hanley Ramirez
Evan Longoria
Joe Mauer
I don’t envy the opponents of the Yankees with that infield.

Did you see how Jeter charged that ball and then threw off one foot?
You can’t teach that!

It was the most incredible routine play ever!
Totally deserving of a huge cheer from Yankee fans.
worldblee - October 16, 2009

there was a lot amusing in that play
that’s twice now, too, that the Hunter / Rivera outfield combo has looked very slow
bobnothing - October 16, 2009
the angels are look awful in the field tonight.
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
It reminds me of the Twins in Game 1 in 2002 ALDS
Of course they came back not only to win the series, but actually came back to win that game.
Nico - October 16, 2009
that was a bitch move by arod
drmmerchk - October 16, 2009
Totally
worldblee - October 16, 2009
Rivera looked exactly like Poochini does when he's chasing a ball I throw
Meanwhile, Aybar’s idea to gun A-Rod out at the plate was better than Figgins’ idea that Aybar really shouldn’t even bother. Those two guys need to talk.
Nico - October 16, 2009
Rivera's play in the outfield
reminded me of my humiliating efforts in the company softball game (after a few beers of course).
Soaker - October 16, 2009
It definitely had that Company Softball look
Nico - October 16, 2009
LMAO
Love Figgins holding up his hands. Just awesome.
ZigFan31 - October 16, 2009
At least attempt to touch home plate.
Don’t just go in there to bowl him over.
Annnnnd now I’m defending an Angel. This is a new low.
pam5981 - October 16, 2009
No, you're denigrating a Yankee
Entirely appropriate. Especially when it’s A-fraud.

OakA'sHoney - October 16, 2009
No, not saying it's a bad thing.
I say it all the time. It’s just funny that it’s become a bay area stereotype.
danmerqury - October 16, 2009
i know, guess i've lived in the east bay too long : )
OakA'sHoney - October 16, 2009

ak_A - October 16, 2009
on the replays, it is not definitive to me that he was off the bag.
ak_A - October 16, 2009
He was, but it was just a "wrong call," not a "blown call"
It took a replay at just the right angle to show it.
Nico - October 16, 2009
I know I'm being a dinosaur
but I just can’t support the notion of replays on routine plays at first base. College football has too many long delays and I don’t think that would translate well to baseball. If we have a delay, it’s much more entertaining to watch Scioscia arguing with the umpire, instead of seeing the umpire standing there with his headset on waiting for the crew upstairs to make up their minds.
Soaker - October 16, 2009
ditto
doctorK - October 16, 2009
The radio sports guys were talking about the possible need for limited use of replay in play-off games
maybe using challenge system like FB does. This convo was prompted by that missed fair call in MInn/NY series.
BERRYJO - October 16, 2009
Boo hiss
No replays. For anything. Just lots of angst and bitterness over blown calls.
Nico - October 16, 2009
I don't think it's being a dinosaur to say
‘I want to keep some momentum in the game’
bobnothing - October 16, 2009

ZigFan31 - October 16, 2009

danmerqury - October 16, 2009
They're using some new feature.
They used it on the Arod play at home and then that play at first.
ZigFan31 - October 16, 2009
Yeah, they really showed that grass up close
worldblee - October 16, 2009

BERRYJO - October 16, 2009
It was blurry!!!
ZigFan31 - October 16, 2009
All I saw was a big frame around the part of the picture that I had aleady seen on the previous replay
If it doesn’t help clarify – don’t do!!
BERRYJO - October 16, 2009
Exactly. It was like a lame picture in picture graphic.
ZigFan31 - October 16, 2009
I'm not watching on TV (I can't bring myself to)
How close of a shot was it?
danmerqury - October 16, 2009
