Do I think he’s overrated? Yes. Why? He can’t shoot from deep. He isn’t a defender by any stretch of the imagination. You have to play a big ball handler with him or else he won’t likely be as effective. And, now he’s arguing that Don Nelson can’t play him with Stephen Curry?
Yeah, you can have Monta as long as you want him Rated R.

Welcome to S-Jax’s world. Thank You Larry Riley, Robert Rovell and Chris Cohan for creating the most retarded dysfunctional team ever. Yippee!
I think Jackson is stupid since he expressed his desire for wanting to stay here. He signed an extension worth $28 million not too long ago. Now, he wants a trade. He didn’t rescind his “trade me” comments, either.

Everyone is panicking and overreacting because of some comments made by players Monta Ellis and Stephen Jackson. The team, though, has a lot of depth and a lot of young talent. Talent-wise, this team could contend for the playoffs. It needs to stay healthy and players need to stop with the “trade me” comments.
Rated-R Superstar - October 1, 2009
With 8 out of the 16 teams in each league making it
isn’t virtually every team “contending for the playoffs?”
speckops - October 1, 2009
It's 8 out of 15
And No.
pookeyguru - October 1, 2009
Just seems like a much lower threshold.
speckops - October 1, 2009
Seems like it
But, you have to consider there is only 82 regular season games. MLB has almost double that plus the playoffs (which is 3 rounds by itself).
pookeyguru - October 1, 2009
Contending for the Playoffs
I think most teams feel as if they have a pretty good shot at making the playoffs. Each conference has about 11 teams that feel as if they can make it.
Rated-R Superstar - October 1, 2009

I think Jackson is stupid, but I just don’t know about Ellis. He says he can’t play with Curry in the backcourt and, you know, he’s right. That wouldn’t really be smart. Who’s going to defend? That’s why you need Jackson, Morrow or Azubuike in the backcourt with Ellis or Curry.
Rated-R Superstar - October 1, 2009

Talking to the Media
Well, it was media day and Ellis just honestly expressed his answer. It wasn’t the smart thing to do, though.
Rated-R Superstar - October 1, 2009
It wasn't the first time
He had did so during draft time too.
pookeyguru - October 1, 2009
Ellis
He supposedly made some comments about telling the team to not draft a play-making guard and what not.
Rated-R Superstar - October 1, 2009
I know that's what I was referring to
It was essentially the same thing when he said he couldn’t play with Curry (who’s 6’1 and an outside threat/playmaker). Monta is really dumb anyway. I’m surprised Janny Hu and the other beat writers for the Dubs could even understand him. (I’m not a Monta fan if you haven’t noticed.)
pookeyguru - October 1, 2009
Ellis
Everything was all good before the moped incident.
Rated-R Superstar - October 1, 2009
He was always overrated anyway
But, I’m still bitter about his winning the MIP in 2007. Kevin Martin should have won that award then, and now. Oh well.
pookeyguru - October 1, 2009
Ellis
He was never overrated.
During the 2007-08 season, in which he was 22 years old, he averaged:
Rated-R Superstar - October 1, 2009
Yeah he was
And I’m well aware of how good he was that year. He was still over-rated t hen.
pookeyguru - October 1, 2009
Look at the Numbers
20 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 1.5 steals and 53 percent from the field is overrated from a 22-year-old player?
Rated-R Superstar - October 1, 2009
I've seen the numbers
He was a borderline All-Star that season. He’s not even that anymore unless he regains his quickness which remains to be seen. Had he not played with Baron Davis, I wonder what kind of numbers he puts up. Either way, I’m not a Monta fan.
And I probably hate the Dubs more than the Lakers. (I know, weird. I’m weird.)
pookeyguru - October 1, 2009
Borderline All-Star Player
You said he was overrated. Now, you’re saying he was a borderline All-Star.
Rated-R Superstar - October 1, 2009
I said he was overrated
And a Borderline All-Star. Vince Carter has been overrated for most of his career as has Jason Kidd. (Is he a borderline All-Star?) Most people have Kidd pegged as a top 5 Hall of Fame PG by any measure.
I think he’s always been overrated even back to his playing days at Cal. Entitlement to disagreement is fine, but I really don’t want to hash out my disagreement over Monta. There are many more things I need to do than argue how a 6’1 guard whose game was predicated on speed and playing off the ball now has handle to PG duties that he never had to handle before last season. Yeah, you can have Monta as long as you want him Rated R.
pookeyguru - October 1, 2009
Ellis Being Overrated
No one gave him credit for any of that. He can’t be overrated on those things since everyone knows those aren’t his strengths.
Michael Vick wasn’t overrated. He was never given credit for being a good passer.
Rated-R Superstar - October 1, 2009

He was overrated in 07 & 08 by some people at some times.

I think Jackson is stupid since he expressed his desire for wanting to stay here. He signed an extension worth $28 million not too long ago. Now, he wants a trade. He didn’t rescind his “trade me” comments, either.
Rated-R Superstar - October 1, 2009
Nope
He had a point about Kobe though. I agreed with that.
pookeyguru - October 1, 2009

But one small subgenre I tend to fall for is stories about totally fucked-up teenage anomie. I liked Bully, too.
Go figure.

great jack. the one sure way NOT to score the runner.
Deborah51 - October 1, 2009
CUST DAMMIT.
ElQuesoCapitan - October 1, 2009
VC is right for once
Cust has to do a better job when there is a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs.
Good job Barton.
Trainman - October 1, 2009
he mentioned that he thinks
the A’s were better when cust was hitting down in the order. you think so?

cuppingmaster - October 1, 2009
