Well, six runs for them, no runs for us. The vaunted Dustin Nippert continues his mastery of the A's, holding the green and gold (and red/white/blue tonight) to a pair of hits, matching their errors total...
Dallas Braden is no longer with us, having ceded his position to Captain Kirk Saarloos, who made things look easy easier in the 5th inning, getting the Rangers out after Braden had a very shaky four innings, looking nothing like his recent string of success in any way.
Halfway through the game, it's time for things to turn around. Go A's!

67MARQUEZ - September 11, 2008
Can we buy a freaking break? Please?
Jennifer - September 11, 2008
$20 plus beer?
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
Nippert is impressing me
3rd straight nice outing
Kid throws gass
laxtonto - September 11, 2008
I dedicate this thread to Schlitz!
Hic!
IowaA'sFan - September 11, 2008
That guy looks wasted.
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
He's Schlitz-faced.
IowaA'sFan - September 11, 2008
That has to be Huston's real father.
The teeth!
Jennifer - September 11, 2008
That was pretty, Ryan.
pam5981 - September 11, 2008
Yay Ryan!
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
That wasn't the break I was talking about, Sweeney.
Jennifer - September 11, 2008
OK....Texas is stating to tee off on Sarloos
laxtonto - September 11, 2008
Time for Jeff Gray
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
Cage match:
Cliff Pennington vs. Josh Hamilton’s tattoo. Who wins?
IowaA'sFan - September 11, 2008
which Tatoo?
hes got some petty crazy ones
laxtonto - September 11, 2008
Let's say... right arm.
IowaA'sFan - September 11, 2008
hum....
it depends if its the one with the big cross or the evil looking face on it…
laxtonto - September 11, 2008
That's not even fair.
Cliff is what, 12? Those tats have seen things you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy!
Jennifer - September 11, 2008
How is Blalock up again already?
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
Texas has four guys named 'Hank Blalock.'
IowaA'sFan - September 11, 2008
Patterson = Not a 2Bman
I’d really like to see more of Pennington there – he looked better at 2B than he has at SS or 3B, and he appears to make occasional contact with the actual baseball.
Nico - September 11, 2008
(or Crosby)
at 2b, I mean.
mikev - September 11, 2008
Intriguing.
And then who plays short?
IowaA'sFan - September 11, 2008
Frank Thomas.
Jennifer - September 11, 2008
Nah.
He’s not short. He’s tall.
IowaA'sFan - September 11, 2008
The three-headed monster of Eric MaEllington.
danmerqury - September 11, 2008
Ladies and Gentlemen...
Mark Ellis, Eric Patterson, and Cliff Pennington could not be here tonight, but they all had sex and are proud to announce the birth of their two-headed baby, Eric MaEllington!!!
IowaA'sFan - September 11, 2008
How did Ellis have sex with a torn shoulder cartilage?
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
left handed?
laxtonto - September 11, 2008
He's a 'bottom.'
IowaA'sFan - September 11, 2008
Ask Chavez.
danmerqury - September 11, 2008

danmerqury - September 11, 2008

WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
Pennington
mikev - September 11, 2008
I like the Pennington at 2B idea.
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
this is the rally thread, right?
rally for a run?
FoolshGame22 - September 11, 2008
Oh, now he gets a hit.
Jennifer - September 11, 2008
still plenty of time...
6th inning, two on, no outs. The beginning of the comeback.
FoolshGame22 - September 11, 2008
Sulphur Springs did it...
with much less time left in the game.
FoolshGame22 - September 11, 2008
Ya but they had Schlitz riding on the outcome
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
all we need is a touchdown to take the lead...
how hard can that be?
FoolshGame22 - September 11, 2008
But we don't have Shaved Rick Beaver
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
Not brave enought ot ty to run on the cannon on Cuz from that shallow flyball?
I bet he would be out by 3 or 4 steps
laxtonto - September 11, 2008
An run!
danmerqury - September 11, 2008
Un run!
IowaA'sFan - September 11, 2008
Yay Cliff!
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
Just got here
So the A’s are really worse than the Rangers? Really? The Rangers?
Philip Christy - September 11, 2008
The win-loss column says...
Er, yes.
danmerqury - September 11, 2008
It’s a bad time to be an A’s fan.
Philip Christy - September 11, 2008
yes
FoolshGame22 - September 11, 2008
Rangers should run away with the division next year
if they play all their games against us.
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
we might be worse than the Giants...
which is a really scary thought.
FoolshGame22 - September 11, 2008
Nah. Not that bad.
Blicks - September 11, 2008
not tonight, at least...
we’re only losing by 5 runs. They’re losing by 8.
FoolshGame22 - September 11, 2008
The real question would be
would you trade minor leagues with them?
laxtonto - September 11, 2008
If we had to swap entire farm systems
Texas wouldn’t be a bad way to go.
danmerqury - September 11, 2008
Espically with Smoak
laxtonto - September 11, 2008
Can we quickly promote Cahill, Anderson, Carter and Henry?
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
Only if Texas gets to promote
Feliz, Holland, Smoak, Andrus, Max Ramiezs, Borbon…etc….
laxtonto - September 11, 2008
Shall we call it all players with at least 4 years to FA?
If so, I’d say sure.
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
Don't forget Cardenas.
danmerqury - September 11, 2008
Ok... lets see...
Carter or Smoak?
Holland or Cahill?
Feliz or Anderson?
Cardenans or Andrus?
Borbon or Gonzalez?
Hurley or Gio?
…
Man…these systems will be crazy next year for MILB
laxtonto - September 11, 2008
Of those I'd take Smoak, Cahill, Feliz, Andrus, Carlos and Gio
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
I got a good comp for you to look at
look at Marcus Lemon A+ and Jose Vallejo AA as comps for Cardenas…
Neither of those guys make Texas top 15…
laxtonto - September 11, 2008
They don't really have an Inoa, but we have no Hamilton
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
Actually.......
As far as iona, goes….
Even with Texas not landing Iona, they still signed 11 guys from LA this year…
Look at Perez, Font, Poveda, and Boscan…. Most of them are 18 and under and pitching in A ball or rookie ball
I dont know where Texas finds these guys, but they have invested a ton in LA the last 5 years…
laxtonto - September 11, 2008
We've certainly got a ways to go in Dominican and Venezuela,
but we’re on the right track methinks.
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
Neither is really highly touted by BA/scouts, whereas Cardenas is
The numbers say the three are about the same, and if anything Lemon is somewhat better.
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
alot of is that they get overshadowed by their other teammates
Take Vallejo for example, he inst even the best speed/defense/power comdo on his AA team. Andrus and Borbon make him an after thought. Alot like some of the A’s 2nd tier pitchers with Cahill and Andrson
laxtonto - September 11, 2008
How is Vallejo better than Petit?
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
Petit is gonna be good...
.235/.270/.350… a guy who can hit with some pop. Finally!
FoolshGame22 - September 11, 2008
I don't see how Vallejo is much different
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
Vallejo
AVG 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS OBP OPS
.292 29 4 11 81 42 4 .345 .760
Petit
AVG 2B 3B HR SB CS OBP SLG OPS
.269 14 3 1 3 5 .322 .344 .666
laxtonto - September 11, 2008
100 points in OPS
and the steals #’s…..
But does that over weight the SS vs. 2B
laxtonto - September 11, 2008
Ya I guess they're not really comparable. Vallejo is
more in the Cardenas/Weeks mold.
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
yeah thats kinda what i was thinking...
the best comp i got for Petit is Arias that is already up for Kinsler….
BA driven OBP, great defense at SS…..Well that is if his shoulder ever comes back to full strength
laxtonto - September 11, 2008
Rangers could improve a lot next year just by
adding some defense, say Orlando Cabrera at SS and Corey Patterson in CF.
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
The problem is Young is locked up long term
Looks like Young may be heading to 3rd, Davis to 1st, Teagarden to C, Kinsler at 2nd, Arias to SS till Andrus is ready unless they pick another stop gap….
As far as CF, Bobon will be ready soon, may even get a shot in ST
laxtonto - September 11, 2008
Ya I was figuring Cabrera and Patterson
as Andrus/Borbon stopgaps. Can’t count on Arias.
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
Dont know really
Texas will be doing some trading this winter, so there is not telling whats going to happen.
They have a lot of pieces that wont fit at the big league club that will be in high demand. Ill give this to Daniels, he can definately trade for prospects and draft
laxtonto - September 11, 2008
Smoak, Cahill, Anderson, Andrus, Carlos, Gio
Blicks - September 11, 2008
chippin' away
FoolshGame22 - September 11, 2008
Yay Kirk!
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008

WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008

FoolshGame22 - September 11, 2008
I had to study for a retake of my Conditioning midterm

Nico - September 11, 2008
Is Cindi bald?
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
ZOMG
Look at those dude clamoring over empty seats for a foul ball.
So sad.
IowaA'sFan - September 11, 2008
Wouldn't it be quicker just to tarp off all the fans?
Nico - September 11, 2008
ZOM double-G
Look at this looser from Iowa commenting on an empty blog.
So sad.
IowaA'sFan - September 11, 2008
Empty?
You discounting your fellow fans?

Just kidding, I fucking love you guys!

IowaA'sFan - September 11, 2008

67MARQUEZ - September 11, 2008
Iowa has 3 million "season ticket holders"
Can the A’s say the same ; )
IowaA'sFan - September 11, 2008

WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008

FoolshGame22 - September 11, 2008

WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008
Hey didnt you guys mention this guy earlier?
laxtonto - September 11, 2008
Damn!
Jeff Gray is nasty
pbra17 - September 11, 2008
I'm going to have to go to a game...
looks like the odds of getting a foul ball for Galt are about 50 to 1. That’s pretty good. I’ll just have to tell him to out scrap those 15 year olds.
FoolshGame22 - September 11, 2008
My Dad has a Bucky Dent home run ball.
Had to tackle a few kids to get it, but it was totally worth it.
IowaA'sFan - September 11, 2008
I had a Raider football...
for a few seconds when I was… like 7 years old. Until security took it away. They were booed unmercifully.
FoolshGame22 - September 11, 2008
I caught a Giambi foul ball once.
At an A’s-Royals game. It bounced off the dugout and was about to hit my old man in the face, until I caught it. That was awesome. Unlike tonight’s game.
IowaA'sFan - September 11, 2008
My brother caught one
It was the last touchdown scored in Oakland before the Raiders moved.
One of the Chicago Bear rookies (a Stanford grad) was so hyped about his first NFL TD, he chucked it into the stands, and into my brother’s hands. Funny thing is we had moved down from the third deck into the first deck. We left immediately with John holding the ball under his shirt.
67MARQUEZ - September 11, 2008
at least, he got to keep his...
mine was on a live ball on a kickoff that went out of bounds. I grabbed that sucker and started scrambling up the steps. My dad was yelling “thow it up here.” Then, security caught me. Hey, I was little and still had some respect for authority at that age.
FoolshGame22 - September 11, 2008
Hey, Jeff Gray, nice job!
HOPE once again, btiches!!!!!
…
Oh God, I’m so tired.
IowaA'sFan - September 11, 2008
Frank Francisco!
WaddellCanseco - September 11, 2008

laxtonto - September 11, 2008

FoolshGame22 - September 11, 2008
Well guys it was fun

Have a good one
laxtonto - September 11, 2008
Jeez, we suck.
