about this game… this team… or this rebuilding. I actually think the Giants’ rebuilding efforts might come to fruition sooner than the A’s. That would be really, really bad.
My biggest disappointment in this rebuilding compared to the one in the late 90's
is that we have no power-hitters. BB’s and the 3-run homer cliche was much more fun to watch than what we have now. I see no offensive improvement coming anytime soon.
that’s true. And, the Giants did have some very entertaining 60’s teams. My grandma would’ve been happy had they won, at least, one. Before ‘68, I was a Giants’ fan. LOL
when is the last time Carlos got a hit?!?!
buddahead9 - August 26, 2008
He's 2 for his last 43
His last hit, IIRC, was an RBI single in Seattle.
Nico - August 26, 2008
Big time slump
Damn!
lynnzgal - August 26, 2008
Yay new thread
I don’t have much hope for this game, but I’d like to say at least one hard liner up the middle about four feet off the ground.
doctorK - August 26, 2008
Patterson learning from the Angels
jerk
doctorK - August 26, 2008
he looked
safe
BigTuna - August 26, 2008
maybe he just wants to end the game and watch some HBO at the hotel?
buddahead9 - August 26, 2008
If he'd do something right
he might get a Slingbox for a post-game appearance
doctorK - August 26, 2008
Not that that would help him see HBO later
I = fail
doctorK - August 26, 2008
Both DFA and Rivera have assists tonight
You could have made some money betting on that combination.
Soaker - August 26, 2008
I had some regrets about not going to the game
this morning… Thank God I won’t feel the same tomorrow.
buddahead9 - August 26, 2008
I have nothing positive to say...
about this game… this team… or this rebuilding. I actually think the Giants’ rebuilding efforts might come to fruition sooner than the A’s. That would be really, really bad.

ohtobe21likehuston - August 26, 2008
So you want the enhanced power guys?
Me, not so much.
lynnzgal - August 26, 2008
fruition = what?
.500+ record? playoffs? WS?
buddahead9 - August 26, 2008
pick your poison...
it looks like the Giants will reach all of those milestones sooner than the A’s.
FoolshGame22 - August 26, 2008
Remind me. How many WS titles do the Giants have?
ohtobe21likehuston - August 26, 2008
they have a few...
not as many as the A’s. But, that is irrelevant to the future.
FoolshGame22 - August 26, 2008
When did they win a WS?
ohtobe21likehuston - August 26, 2008
The Giants have won 5 World Series
1905, 1921, 1922, 1933, 1954
The only franchises to win more are the Yankees, Cardinals, Athletics, Red Sox and Dodgers.
Soaker - August 26, 2008
Do you mean the NY Giants?
I wasn’t aware of SF winning any.
ohtobe21likehuston - August 26, 2008
but, you asked how many the Giants had won...
not how many the SF Giants had won.
FoolshGame22 - August 26, 2008
Well okay.
I normally don’t hear anyone talking about Philadelphia when mentioning the A’s titles.
ohtobe21likehuston - August 26, 2008
1910, 1911, 1913, 1929, 1930
are all shown on the tarps in the upper deck in right field at the Coliseum.
Soaker - August 26, 2008
Its true.
lynnzgal - August 26, 2008
Its part of our history.
lynnzgal - August 26, 2008
I was pissed when a crappy St. Louis team won its 10th title
and, went ahead of the A’s. So, I do talk about it.
FoolshGame22 - August 26, 2008
I doubt that many Giant fans are celebrating
the pre-1960’s as they are some great accomplishment.
ohtobe21likehuston - August 26, 2008
not many SF Giants fans...
that’s true. And, the Giants did have some very entertaining 60’s teams. My grandma would’ve been happy had they won, at least, one. Before ‘68, I was a Giants’ fan. LOL
FoolshGame22 - August 26, 2008
Angels announcers said 5-0 is a close game?
buddahead9 - August 26, 2008
They have been patronizing our team all night long.
ohtobe21likehuston - August 26, 2008
well, it would be close if the team down 5-0 were say...
the Rays, Marlins, Cubs, Brewers or Red Sox. But, the A’s… not so close.
FoolshGame22 - August 26, 2008
Let's look at the bright side
At least we (probably) won’t be seeing K-Fraud tonight.
doctorK - August 26, 2008
come on solo shot...
to
buddahead9 - August 26, 2008
SPARTACUST!
danmerqury - August 26, 2008
OMG!
We got a point!
doctorK - August 26, 2008
Holy moly.
Kimberly - August 26, 2008
Oh!
Thank Cust!
lynnzgal - August 26, 2008
Cust puts a single digit in the column.
ohtobe21likehuston - August 26, 2008
I'll take it!
lynnzgal - August 26, 2008
Haha!
lynnzgal - August 26, 2008
small pleasures
seeing Cust break up Lackey’s shutout bid
sweet
OaklandSi - August 26, 2008
Very small.
IM4Oakgal - August 26, 2008
Please shoot me
ohtobe21likehuston - August 26, 2008
191 days until the first spring training game!
Soaker - August 26, 2008
Rejoice!
ohtobe21likehuston - August 26, 2008
I want to go.
lynnzgal - August 26, 2008
I'm already working on my plans
The WCC basketball tournament in Las Vegas, March 6-9, and then on to Phoenix for several days starting on March 10.
Soaker - August 26, 2008
Bucket list!
lynnzgal - August 26, 2008
At least we still have a chance to win the series?
Yay.
Kimberly - August 26, 2008
I want that.
lynnzgal - August 26, 2008
given our track record of winning post-ASB series...
what do you put our odds at of winning this series?
FoolshGame22 - August 26, 2008
Ya never know.
With our guys, you don’t.
lynnzgal - August 26, 2008
Greg Smith may have had the lowest run support
but he is not very impressive and I think he is just filling in for the future.
Not enough velocity and they were killing his change tonight. He nibbles like Zito used to.
The pick offs are great but are a product of the many baserunners he allows. Basically a #5 starter.
Good pitching is so hard to come by but we have no problem getting rid of it for whatever reason.
Trainman - August 26, 2008
Gio tomorrow
yes?
lynnzgal - August 26, 2008
Yes
I am looking forward to that
Hope he shows them a glimpse of the future!!
