I was a switchman in New Zealand for 13 years. Also drove a few when no management was watching.
I could stop a freight train on a dime.
Had a bet for $100.00 who could stop a fully loaded freight closest to the switch with one application of the brakes. I got within about 6 inches of it. The whole crew tried it. The engineer one day, the conductor the next, myself and then my sidekick.
I worked with the same engineer so he used to let me take the controls out on the main line. The only thing he didn’t like was I used to wind those locos up too quick and blow all the sand out at times
I just woke up. I hate when I fall asleep when it’s light and wake up when it’s dark. It’s still Thursday, right? I’d hate to think I skipped it and moved right on to Friday. For one, I am late for work.
Everytime I start to think that he has an awful 0-15 stretch where he looks lost again
It’s hard to say at this point. I’ve decided to just not worry too much about it and hope that next year he’s able to start fresh and not think about 2008.
reminds me of the type of guy who could fulfill the role that Duke had when he first got here in long relief, or in our future bailing out starters who get waxed in the first 1-3 innings, maybe not against Seattle but in our near future.
Did he choose to go by his first name rather than Suzuki to distinguish himself from the previous Seattle ROY Sasaki? Sounds similar. Sasaki had to get outta town.
his questions are generally longer than the answers that he gives back…mainly because like you said he already give the answer before he asks the question.

Five current starters with their day in the rotation
Gio (Friday), then Meyer Saturday, Eveland Sunday, Braden Monday, Smith on Tuesday.
Hopefully none of those five goes down because our options beyond them are pretty grim.
notsellingjeans - August 21, 2008
Because that isn't grim
Nico - August 21, 2008
Kirk Saarloos?..I think he's an option he's done it before.
mattman - August 21, 2008
He had an emergency save a couple years ago
Was it in Seattle?
Nico - August 21, 2008
One in KC, the other in Boston
67MARQUEZ - August 21, 2008

Nico - August 21, 2008

“Never mind.”
danmerqury - August 21, 2008
Ziggy's going for that
record for consecutive appearances with at least one run.
Nico - August 21, 2008
The gutsy move would be an IBB and try for a double play
But you just can’t expect that to work. Can’t put the winning run on like that.
Flashfire - August 21, 2008
I think you can, but you don't want to face Ichiro

"Oh, man, it feels great, Ray " says (insert name from roster here).
