I really only like mint in gum and toothpaste… I don’t like mint chocolate chip ice cream, or thin mints, or those peppermint patty things… just give me the chocolate.
Fucking dominant :( 7 IP, 94 pitches, 10K, 0BB, 2H, 0R. Hit 95, 95, 94 with his last 3 pitches. Got his first career RBI. Bittersweet, but I’m happy for him.
Casilla is probably my least favorite A's pitcher.
His stuff (and his concentration) seem to come and go as he pleases. Remember when Geren had to come out to the mound just to yell at him and get his mind back in the game? That’s the worst…at least Embree tries to get every hitter out, even if it doesn’t look like it sometimes…
Korach: The A's are going to need to work on making more contact in September & next season.
Brilliant observation…I’m pretty sure a turn-of-the-century NYC newsboy with a broken broom for a bat could make more consistent contact that the 2008 Oakland Athletics.
The Harden trade is really starting to look like Billy Beane completely fucked himself and the A’s……
what a total disaster since Gallagher’s first start against the Angels. Goddammit, WTF is going on with Billy and that trade? I was a fan of SG when he came over but Harden is really making Beane look like a horses’ arse!
Billy might be good in certain areas but he is horrible in other areas.
Not drafting 3B and SS for starters.
Bringing in players who cannot make contact.
Esteban Loaiza contract (LOL) amongst other bad contracts
Hiring puppets as managers to do what he says. Playing the OBP game with players who know how to walk but not a clue how to drive those in who walk.
Yeah, he’s done great with the teams in early 2000’s but it’s sickening watching the Angels do all the fundamentals and get more out of average players than other teams.
but the Angels hit 4 shots that would have gone out if it was a day game. i for one was not surprised that he has not looked good. oh, but he is 22 and might get better :-) and under club control for 5 more years…that’s what is really important.
they can forget the rest of this season’s games and do a “best of” broadcast on game days. i for one wouldn’t mind hearing the 2o game win streak again…or any of a number of games that included actual excitement.
Im out, going looking for something more fun or at least better than one team scoring on the football scale and the other team scoring less than a club footed, one eyed hunchback, with horrible BO at a Hawaiian Topics contest
and be unavailable for the playoffs. Out next season due to injury. Gallagher will have a breakout 2009. Let’s all be patient. At least they didn’t get shut out! Tomorrow we will emerge victorious! Go A’s!
DAMN
Harden looked good toninight for chicago
robbo650 - August 19, 2008
with every start he makes Beane look worse and worse.
Erin6 - August 19, 2008
He needs to concentrate on his soccer club
wait a minute…………………………
He is already
Trainman - August 19, 2008
I still think trading Harden was the right thing to do.
Flashfire - August 19, 2008
it's not that they traded Harden that bothers me. It's what they got in return.
Erin6 - August 19, 2008
With his injury history, I'm not convinced they could've got much more
Flashfire - August 19, 2008
I think they could have done a whole lot better then Gallagher.
Erin6 - August 19, 2008
We may never know, since the A's seem determined
not to learn from the Meyer fiasco. “Just keep running him out there, Bob!”
Nico - August 19, 2008
Both of those things bother me!
Rhndasue - August 19, 2008
Me too.
I just wish we would’ve gotten someone good in return.
Streams Of Whiskey - August 19, 2008
Sob, sob, sniff......
Hardennnn…..
Rhndasue - August 19, 2008
There still playing?
I figured it was called after the twins scored their third run
A'sfaninNC - August 19, 2008
They're, sorry the blue bottles are starting to fly out of the freezer faster tonight
A'sfaninNC - August 19, 2008
Is it a sign of the Apocalypse that, with Duchscherer likely heading to the DL...
Dallas Braden might be the team’s best starting pitcher right now? I mean, you’ve got to be eff-ing kidding me!
Taj Adib - August 19, 2008
Getting more depressed by the minute..
Rhndasue - August 19, 2008
Kirk looked decent last night
A'sfaninNC - August 19, 2008
True (and even more depressing).
At least Braden, arguably, has “upside” to fall back on…
Taj Adib - August 19, 2008
Mercy!
Flashfire - August 19, 2008
I'm begging you for
lynnzgal - August 19, 2008
10 strikeouts by Slowey
Lol. Thats Sloweys career best. Just got to laugh.
asfaninpismobeach - August 19, 2008
Screw Harden, I miss Gaudin!!!

New topic:
favorite kind of ice cream/favorite place to get ice cream? (I have a sweet tooth.)
whiteshoes40 - August 19, 2008
nom nom
I like fruity ice cream. Pineapple or strawberry or cherry or peach.
schmifty - August 19, 2008
agreed
I absolutely love gelato — usually I get a fruity one and a chocolaty one. My latest combination was pineapple and Nutella… perfect.
whiteshoes40 - August 19, 2008
Coldstone's.
Sometimes I feel like buying myself a whole cake cause their red velvet cakes are to die for.
Kimberly - August 19, 2008
Ahh, I still haven't tried their red velvet!
My great grandma used to make red velvet cake.
schmifty - August 19, 2008
forgive my ignorance...
what’s in red velvet cake?
whiteshoes40 - August 19, 2008
lots of red dye
ak_A - August 19, 2008
Yummmmm
Kimberly - August 19, 2008
Okay, I approve.
whiteshoes40 - August 19, 2008
either i live in a cave in the woods or under a rock
but i have never had coldstones
A'sfaninNC - August 19, 2008
I suggest you indulge yourself in its deliciousness sometime.
Kimberly - August 19, 2008
Anybody else love eating frosting...
right out of the can? Hahaha!
Rhndasue - August 19, 2008
Wait,
there are people that don’t do that? Huh.
whiteshoes40 - August 19, 2008
yeah and also with the teddy gram cookie things
A'sfaninNC - August 19, 2008
Haha, I haven't had Teddy Grahams for years.
Those things are pretty good.
whiteshoes40 - August 19, 2008
I eat a lot of stuff out of its container.
Haha…
Kimberly - August 19, 2008
My friend used to eat frosting out of a can to console herself every time she "did something" with a guy that she didn't want to do
The day we went to the grocery store to pick up TWO cans of icing for her… yeah, that was a memorable day
schmifty - August 19, 2008
Two guys or two things?
pam5981 - August 19, 2008
One guy with all the disgustingness of 2
schmifty - August 19, 2008
choco choco el cholato
ak_A - August 19, 2008
Breyers Mint chip
Trainman - August 19, 2008
that is a winner too.
and tonight, i just got back from market with hagen daz mint chip.
ak_A - August 19, 2008
meh
I really only like mint in gum and toothpaste… I don’t like mint chocolate chip ice cream, or thin mints, or those peppermint patty things… just give me the chocolate.
whiteshoes40 - August 19, 2008
i take break from chocolate now and then ...just so i miss it.
ak_A - August 19, 2008
Where are you?
I haven’t been, but Bi-Rite in the mission is supposed to be a-m-a-z-i-n-g.
pam5981 - August 19, 2008
I'm in the Bay Area
but haven’t heard of that place. Next time I’m in the city, I’ll hafta check it out.
whiteshoes40 - August 19, 2008
hmmm, the screen appears and I see Cassilla throwing
then I see the score.
ak_A - August 19, 2008
sadly he had nothing to do with it yet
A'sfaninNC - August 19, 2008
Might as well let Casilla in
it can’t get much worse..
Rhndasue - August 19, 2008
Just got done watching Rich's innings.
Fucking dominant :( 7 IP, 94 pitches, 10K, 0BB, 2H, 0R. Hit 95, 95, 94 with his last 3 pitches. Got his first career RBI. Bittersweet, but I’m happy for him.
schmifty - August 19, 2008
is it wrong that I hope he does awful, just so I will feel somewhat good about this horrendous
trade?
Erin6 - August 19, 2008
Nah, it's not really wrong
hard to cheer along with Cubs fans :(
schmifty - August 19, 2008
Jesus man.
Are these guys even trying anymore…
Taj Adib - August 19, 2008
doubtful
Trainman - August 19, 2008
It could be argued that they stopped trying right after the GM traded away their best player for nothing
That being said a professional needs to try no matter what the GM says or does
Yellowhorse - August 19, 2008
I still remember the posts that said the Harden trade would make the team better this season
Yellowhorse - August 19, 2008
Maybe they meant the Cubs
DCinWC - August 19, 2008
+1
cvdoug - August 19, 2008
wow the pain just keeps coming tonight
A'sfaninNC - August 19, 2008
maybe the Twins will use up all of their hits tonight
and we can sneak one by tomorrow
Yellowhorse - August 19, 2008
yeah but the 2 runs the A's will score will be easy to overcome
A'sfaninNC - August 19, 2008
The pitching is so bad
i hope Minn is stealing signs or something. I guess im hoping these guys dont suck this bad.
asfaninpismobeach - August 19, 2008
Casilla is probably my least favorite A's pitcher.
His stuff (and his concentration) seem to come and go as he pleases. Remember when Geren had to come out to the mound just to yell at him and get his mind back in the game? That’s the worst…at least Embree tries to get every hitter out, even if it doesn’t look like it sometimes…
Taj Adib - August 19, 2008
Someone ALWAYS has to get him out of a jam.
And he is ALWAYS good for at least 1-2 runs!
Rhndasue - August 19, 2008
Ok
cant watch anymore. Have a great night all. Peace out
asfaninpismobeach - August 19, 2008
Casilla should have been shutdown for the season when he injured himself
Trainman - August 19, 2008
so should half the other guys one the team as well
A'sfaninNC - August 19, 2008
Actually
half the others should never have made it to the majors
There are about 8 or 10 I would keep and the rest need to be dropped off on a deserted island and left there to fend for themselves.
Trainman - August 19, 2008
Even poor Cargon is having a tough time at the plate
Trainman - August 19, 2008
so are half the other guys on the team
A'sfaninNC - August 19, 2008
Half? That's generous.
mikev - August 19, 2008
there is still a little trying to stay mildly postive left in the tank but it is running on fumes
A'sfaninNC - August 19, 2008
Hanley Ramirez has 27 HRs
Barton, Ellis, Crosby, Hannahan= together, 29 HRs.
One won lost won - August 19, 2008
But he'll be fine
I’m not worried about C-Gon, he is gonna be a stud.
mrod - August 19, 2008
Hannahan needs to remain in Minny
with his 150 friends and family.
His picture is in the dictionary under the word awful
Trainman - August 19, 2008
Leave most of the current roster their as well
mrod - August 19, 2008

Have to agree with most of y'all tonight
The Harden trade is really starting to look like Billy Beane completely fucked himself and the A’s……

The Durazo hard on was off by a tad as well.
cyke17 - August 19, 2008
Durazo had a .900 OPS the first year we got him.
mikev - August 19, 2008
Trainman
Props my man, props. Right now, I’m waiting for the next brilliant bit of baseball GM 101 to hit the ground running……LOL!
