A's trail 2-1 going to the bottom of the 5th. Nibbles has been nibbling, Danks has been, uh ... danking ... and the game has crawled along uneventfully for nearly 2 hours at the halfway point.
I live in the Midwest and just assumed it was the same old Nat’l League teams playing. Went to EI and it was blank. Went to WGN and it wasn’t on. Went to local Fox and ahhhhh.
I guess we are on by default because Chisox are playing for something?? Never knew Glen Kuiper did the games either.
Best part is the priopism warning. If I have wood for four hours, I’m not only calling my Dr., I’m calling my lawyer, my accountant, my tax preparer….anyone who will listen.
Ziggy would not be a good closer option because he is so capable of getting a DP in tough situations. I would also like to see him for two innings when necessary.
I used to date a guy who looked just like Swisher. I couldn’t decide whether or not to tell him he looked like Swish. I mean, I didn’t know if he’d think that’s an insult, or a compliment…
I mean, you could go with, “Hey, you look like you should be driving a rusted-out ’85 Camaro with a mullet!” but I think you look like Swish is much more kind.
No more GIDPs, please
doctorK - August 16, 2008
unfortunately, there's a real easy way for the A's to achieve that
monkeyball - August 16, 2008
oh yeah
forgot to add the ‘with bases loaded and one out’.
doctorK - August 16, 2008
your specifications were too late for Mr Crosby
monkeyball - August 16, 2008
he aims to please.
Leopold Bloom - August 16, 2008

So shut up about it already.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa

How many DP's can Crosby

alox - August 16, 2008

we don’t want to know.
Leopold Bloom - August 16, 2008
GIDP FOR SCHOOLS
Why Not? Lets do some real good here.
DCinWC - August 16, 2008
at least the bases weren't loaded that time...
buddahead9 - August 16, 2008
this sucks
i just want our offense to explode!!
FIRESALE - August 16, 2008
so we can start anew?
Leopold Bloom - August 16, 2008
We need that dude from SCANNERS
DCinWC - August 16, 2008
Me too.
But it’d probably be a little messy.
alox - August 16, 2008
How appropriate
Glen gives a Zantac promo as Casilla starts off an inning.
doctorK - August 16, 2008
Andrew Brown
When is he coming off the DL?
Blicks - August 16, 2008
I had completely forgotten about that guy.
alox - August 16, 2008
I saw that talk about Fox national broadcast
and I got excited.
… but no. Fox showing Twins-Mariners here. Why do they even bother to call it the national broadcast when it’s always local anyway?
iglew - August 16, 2008
"National"
as in “with some announcer who knows nothing about the players on your team”
Englishmajor - August 16, 2008
Especially this Kuiper guy.
alox - August 16, 2008
I really don't understand why they don't shut Casilla down
He’s gonna pitch his way to James Andrews’ waiting room at this rate.

Please keep us in the game kid please

Leopold Bloom - August 16, 2008
We need a run here!!

monkeyball - August 16, 2008
Not today Cliff.
You’re an official A. Too bad for you.
alox - August 16, 2008
A's look like they may be rolling over today just giving up
I dont like to see that in a team and blame that lack of a heart on the lack of a leader (Geren)
FIRESALE - August 16, 2008
I blame you
You’re obviously not yelling at them loudly enough. Try a few more exclamation points.
monkeyball - August 16, 2008
Agreed.
It’s FIRESALE’s fault.
All in favor?
Leopold Bloom - August 16, 2008

DCinWC - August 16, 2008
FIRE FIRESALE NOW!!11!!!!!1!!111!!!!!eleventy!!!!

DCinWC - August 16, 2008

A'sfaninNC - August 16, 2008

Nico - August 16, 2008
that's bad, right?
Leopold Bloom - August 16, 2008
he's just not rolling over and not trying hard enough
monkeyball - August 16, 2008
Why is Casilla sitll pitching?
It’s not like he had a shaky enough inning last inning!! God forbid we can win 2 games in a row.
FIRESALE - August 16, 2008
(that's better)
Leopold Bloom - August 16, 2008
+1. Get. Him. Out. NOW.

Nico - August 16, 2008
Did a dog get into the pen?
Speaking of, where the hell are my pictures from last night?
Them dogs brought us luck.
Leopold Bloom - August 16, 2008
I know - those dogs are going to think that
every game is like that.
Nico - August 16, 2008
Well, at least they won't think good seats are part of the deal.
They were out there.
Leopold Bloom - August 16, 2008
Lance Barksdale should have umped

The only guy in the pen who could be worse than Casilla comes in...
Uh-oh.
Blicks - August 16, 2008
A's are walking the razors edge here with the RP use this inning
A'sfaninNC - August 16, 2008
Cleveland had the bases loaded and no outs

A Pathetic display on ineptness.

A'sfaninNC - August 16, 2008

That is to say, he’s pitching well.
Nico - August 16, 2008
How about???
“Embree’s pitching well today.”
One won lost won - August 16, 2008
whew.

Leopold Bloom - August 16, 2008
The Embree of old....

alox - August 16, 2008
they've both sold their soul to the devil to be mediocre relievers.

DCinWC - August 16, 2008
I think the devil got the best of that one
Nico - August 16, 2008
In exchange for what?

ak_A - August 16, 2008

His fastball has “giddyup”.
Nico - August 16, 2008
this year
i would like to move that up a few months
Future Ed - August 16, 2008
+1
I wouldn’t mind the unorthodoxed approach of using Ziggy either. Devine would be great too.
ohtobe21likehuston - August 16, 2008
Ziggy could be great
in the eighth. Wouldn’t mind seeing them as a combo at all.
alox - August 16, 2008
I like Devine the 9th, Street the 8th,
and Ziggy/Blevins for “situations” – Ziggy for “crisis management” and Blevins for “LOOGYish work”.
Nico - August 16, 2008
The scarecrow don't do LOOGY, man.
He’s too cool for that.
Leopold Bloom - August 16, 2008
After thinking about it
Ziggy would not be a good closer option because he is so capable of getting a DP in tough situations. I would also like to see him for two innings when necessary.
ohtobe21likehuston - August 16, 2008
z
I like zig in high leverage gb situations
Future Ed - August 16, 2008

Precisely.
Ziggy as the fireman works great for me.
danmerqury - August 16, 2008
