The A's have tied the game at three on an RBI hit by Bobby Crosby. Our very own Ziggy appeared in three scoreless innings (and recorded three DPs!), and Street pitched the ninth. The A's go to the bottom of the ninth, trying to win the game.

WALK OFF MOJO THREAD!!!
Pwease?
Nico - July 30, 2008
Crosby walkoff.
Calling it now. It’s just a weird day like that.
Then, because Colletti sees it, he’ll give up Kemp, Laroche, and DeJesus for Street, Crosby and Ellis.
Yup.
mikev - July 30, 2008
Colletti will do all that....
just because he watches Bobby walk back to the dugout?

His butt commands respect.

Sooo, with Ziggy’s streak at 30 he’s officially passed Rollie Fingers in the A’s record books. He recorded 29 scoreless in ‘71. Ziggy now trails only Paul Lindblad who went 32 in ‘75.

Nico - July 30, 2008
Yes, he needs to pitch every inning.
WaddellCanseco - July 30, 2008
You beat me to it.
Poppy - July 30, 2008
I'd put Blevins in

That’s my favorite
sprtsnwyn - July 30, 2008

buckfan6 - July 30, 2008
Stat guys are so useful in these times
kbtoyz - July 30, 2008
I was trying to find stats that indicated that, but I didn't find any.
How the heck does PT think Huston’s top 10?
WaddellCanseco - July 30, 2008
K/BB ratios and stuff like that
Nico - July 30, 2008
K/BB as a reliever
2007 – 14th in MLB
2008 – 41st in MLB
WaddellCanseco - July 30, 2008
Those rankings are for Huston BTW
WaddellCanseco - July 30, 2008
Sorry. If you put in a minimum 20 IP
2007 – 8th in MLB
2008 – 25th in MLB
WaddellCanseco - July 30, 2008
So its official we’re never going to get rid of Huston Street are we?
justarebelheart - July 30, 2008
So THIS is what its like to be a Giants fan.... huh.
asfan777 - July 30, 2008
no, your team has to have a 50+ age average.
dathirdeck - July 30, 2008
Well, THAT was easy!
I love Street, I actually don’t think he sucks, but he’s pissing me off a lot lately.
Poppy - July 30, 2008
Actually, I do think he sucks
as a closer. I think he’d make a good relief pitcher.
truelements - July 30, 2008
He wouldn't be so scary as a closer
if we could ever have any confidence that “even if he blows the save, our hitters can still come back and score.”
Poppy - July 30, 2008
Shouldn't the mentality of a closer be more like:
“I’m in. Game over…biatch!” If he really has the “even if I blow a save mentality” he really shouldn’t be a closer.
truelements - July 30, 2008
I was referring to OUR mentality...
Poppy - July 30, 2008
If your mentality had been better, we would have won this game
Nico - July 30, 2008

buckfan6 - July 30, 2008
We might catch Seattle at this rate
sprtsnwyn - July 30, 2008
Wow. Geren actually pulled him?

mikev - July 30, 2008
Word just came in about an impending trade involving Huston
Otherwise he would’ve stayed in
franks a lot - July 30, 2008

justarebelheart - July 30, 2008
The problem was Street was furiously checking blogs on his Blackberry
when he should have been concentrating on locating his slider.
Nico - July 30, 2008
"Don't make trade rumors if they're not true!"
Stupid A’s fans…...........don’t we kow Huston doesn’t like it????

This season is increasingly difficult to want to watch. It reminds me of those sweet mid 90s teams I convinced myself were better than they were
kbtoyz - July 30, 2008
how does this go again? does it have to be a live chicken for a sacrifice?
dathirdeck - July 30, 2008
I would bet money that Street is satisfied that he has sucked enough to remain
on this team.
He is supposed to be a professional but I am sure he knows he secured his place on this team with that performance
Trainman - July 30, 2008
We can still non-tender him after the season.
WaddellCanseco - July 30, 2008
You know, you should shut the f--- up with comments like that
In my ever-so-humble opinion.
Nico - July 30, 2008
Whoa, wait a minute.
I intentionally deleted the “That theory is completely full of shit” comment that I typed first, and I didn’t have to?
Poppy - July 30, 2008
Go for it - I'm sorry, but it's one thing
to suggest that a player isn’t good and another to suggest he isn’t trying as hard as he can to compete successfully. Huston Street has been one of the A’s best relievers in the 4-year period of 2005-2008, and he’s a competitor. How good a closer he is, that’s an open question. “Better than any other options we have at the moment” is a pretty fair answer, though.
Nico - July 30, 2008
That's *beyond* ridiculous.
Poppy - July 30, 2008
Which is why I'm surprised anyone took it seriously
WaddellCanseco - July 30, 2008
I'm sure he's not joking.
Poppy - July 30, 2008
you were thinking that too?
scatterbrian - July 30, 2008
In my opinion
I am angry that he sucks enough not to be traded. I wanted to see him traded along with a few others for a few more prospects.
That is why I put, he is supposed to be a professional and I sure as such he didn’t try and lose but don’t tell me he would not feel happy at least subconsciously about it. That is human nature.
Maybe I worded that wrong but I am sure he will be happy not to be traded.
Trainman - July 30, 2008
He said he'd like to stay -
That doesn’t mean he wanted to give up a run in the 10th today.
Nico - July 30, 2008
This pop fly strategy isn't working as well late in the game
WaddellCanseco - July 30, 2008

Nico - July 30, 2008
Let's be positive!
The A’s always play the Red Sox tough. Then it’s four in Toronto, who aren’t very good, and three at Detroit, who aren’t very good either. I think this is rock bottom and with Big Frank coming back, things will get better. I predict a 7 or 8 game win roadie. And truthfully, August and September have a lot of Mariners on the schedule, so who knows? Let’s go Oakland!
A'sfansince1970 - July 30, 2008

“Multipe baseball sources say the Red Sox are on the verge of sending disgrunted left fielder Manny Ramirez to the Marlins in a trade for a package of three players that included low Class A Greensboro outfielder Mike Stanton, an 18-year-old who is hitting .275/.351/.569 with 26 home runs in 96 games.”
