that I was reading “Ball Four” when I was about 11 years old. Grandma asked to see what I was reading. GASP! The book was confiscated. Fortunately paperbacks only cost about $1 then, so I just went and bought another copy, after I got my next allowance.
How soon are you moving? If you are still planning on having an A’s room, I have two A’s posters from the 80s/90s (some era I didn’t watch) I’ll send you. They were given to me… I don’t even know most of the players on the poster. I can research it if you want.
I predicted DUKE to pitch a no-no this year, specifically here in June or July. He is so damn efficient. This is such a great outing for him against some quality bats of the D-Backs. I’ve been so impressed with his re-converstion to the SP ranks. Stamp his ticket to the AS game.
Travis, Jeff Larish, Tuffy Gosewisch… that was a great summer. Then Tuffy crying on the bench after the game… And I actually liked him more with a shaved head.
They buy new undies for no reason. Us guys on the other hand, I have some with huge holes in them. Like an old muscle car, they are just hard to give up.
and will never bash Ellis. He’s been my favorite A for a long time. But usually I’m loving the glove and plate discipline… it’s good to add swing to the list.
“I’d never sleep with a player hitting under .250 unless he had a lot of R.B.I.’s or was a great glove man up the middle.” I suppose LS makes it (prior to this season) on the latter alone—which, I’m guessing, is also a metaphor.
One game is a REALLY small sample size, but boy, this team looked dominant tonight. Great hitting, great starting and relief pitching, great defense (not only the CarGo catch, but also that amazing bounce-out throw from Eric Chavez) against a good team and their ace in their own ballpark.
Right now the A’s have two .300 hitters in the line-up, plus Ellis and Barton are both hot right now, Cust is among the OBP league leaders, and Big Hurt is still out. The entire bullpen looks pretty invincible.
I don’t know about the rest of AN, but this really could be a playoff team. I’m starting to believe.

Chix wore thongs. The yoots today, I swear….
paradox - June 17, 2008
As do I.
I have to catch myself all the time.
There’s a sign in my gym that says, “No sandals. Shoes required. No thongs.” It’s such a bummer.

Thongs = flip-flops
And I’m not talking about logic gates

Jesus
What the hell is it with thongs? So what if Giambi has one.
Look, how many guys own thongs in this thread? Besides Pismo. Not me.
Anybody else going to fess up?

I live in a community property state
Therefore I own half a drawer full of thongs.

Thats a tough day at the office
I would call in sick every now and then.

Yeah, I suppose they do.
iglew - June 17, 2008
And still wear the same three pair

Dude
They buy new undies for no reason. Us guys on the other hand, I have some with huge holes in them. Like an old muscle car, they are just hard to give up.
asfaninpismobeach - June 17, 2008
If my wife wore a different pair every day,
she’d run out some time around mid-September.
If I were to wear a different pair every day (admittedly, a big if), I’d run out early next week.
iglew - June 17, 2008
Maybe the D-back

A'sfaninNC - June 17, 2008

eastcoasta'sfan - June 17, 2008
Chavvy need to get on and Crosby needs to homer
so Brown is no longer the RBI leader for Oakland
A'sfaninNC - June 17, 2008

I was watching that M’s game; Ichiro’s play was an all-timer.

What a lovely game.
La la la la la…
Kimberly - June 17, 2008
Great game
Thanks Nico, fucking great job!
paradox - June 17, 2008
It's unreal man...
If an object exceeds the speed of light, theoretically time would skip backward around that object.’‘
sourstuff - June 17, 2008
Can we skip
back to the 21 run streak?
lynnzgal - June 17, 2008
victory
i think we just won like 7 pythagorean games tonight….
xbhaskarx - June 17, 2008
That was fun; I'm ready for some comedy now
[switches to Mariners game]

Gnats are on CSN
Losing 3-1 with two outs in the bottom of the 8th
doctorK - June 17, 2008
old joke
149 - June 17, 2008
I like the classics
doctorK - June 17, 2008
run differential?
GeorgiaBoy - June 17, 2008
Oh!
Indeed!
lynnzgal - June 17, 2008
Example of why run differential doesn't explain it all.
Should be a modified run differential to reduce effects of blowouts, each way.
Run deltas above X don’t count, or count for half
MobiusKlein - June 17, 2008
our record this year based on run differential may be 196 wins, negative 34 losses
xbhaskarx - June 17, 2008
So it wasnt the swearing, the gold thong, or Coors Field
heres betting that the entire roster get checked to roids tomorrow after the power display by Davis (jk)
A'sfaninNC - June 17, 2008
oh and Crust didnt homer
tonight and is due to bomb one soon, so thats good news
A'sfaninNC - June 17, 2008
yeah, Andrew really was getting rusty
kapers - June 17, 2008
How freaking awesome is Justin Duchscherererer?
JediLeroy - June 17, 2008
He's like a 7.
On the MLB 2-8 scale.
mikev - June 17, 2008
I'd say he's more of a OMFGYESHESAWESOME /10
JediLeroy - June 17, 2008
Love Duchshererererer
He had all the sparkles tonight!
lynnzgal - June 17, 2008
That sounds like
a question Jaymee would ask. “So Justin, how awesome were you tonight? How does it feel to be that awesome?”
149 - June 17, 2008
I wake up in the morning and piss awesomeness
a la Talladega Nights
oaklandSMASH - June 17, 2008
that's the best line in the whole movie
149 - June 17, 2008
He raises that Freak flag very high.
MobiusKlein - June 17, 2008

xbhaskarx - June 17, 2008

sourstuff - June 17, 2008

A'sfaninNC - June 17, 2008
Chavie GIDP
149 - June 17, 2008
Fail on my comment and
ablity to read the box score at least the A’s had no errors tonight
A'sfaninNC - June 17, 2008
Bold Faced Lie
GeorgiaBoy - June 17, 2008
'cept the run scoring one in the first inning
NVAngela - June 17, 2008
Holy crap!!
I just got home and checked the score lol I would not have imagined this. I bet the game threads were EPIC.
drmmerchk - June 17, 2008
lots of cussing and discussions of "hotness"
You missed so much.
149 - June 17, 2008
Actually that sounds like a typical game thread. But I’m sad I missed it anyway!
drmmerchk - June 17, 2008
Small Sample Size
Impressive!
richwol1 - June 17, 2008
I've been believing
since Beane said Spring Training portended a great season!
One won lost won - June 17, 2008
i really doubt the a's believe spring training can predict the regular season
xbhaskarx - June 17, 2008
When big Frank comes back, we'll have the same lineup minus the Duke
Looks good to me.
JediLeroy - June 17, 2008
god this sort of overreaction is exactly what is wrong with game threads
wtf, the guy goes 0-4 in one game and you want him out of the lineup?
xbhaskarx - June 17, 2008
LOL
JediLeroy - June 18, 2008
marcus thames
last 8 hits have been home runs.
3-1 tigers over giants.
xbhaskarx - June 17, 2008
Haren
tomorrow. I’m feeling weak in the knees, regardless.
lynnzgal - June 17, 2008
I hope he pitches well, but makes a lot of pitches so he can’t go many innings… and then the AZ bullpen will take the L :)
drmmerchk - June 17, 2008
I hope you're right.
I adore Haren, but I want him to lose.
lynnzgal - June 17, 2008
GAME RECAP IS UP
