Powered by a 6 run third inning that featured 6 consecutive hits, the A's have broken out the bats tonight in a BIG way and lead the Yankees 8-1 through 5 1/2 innings. Duke has settled in nicely after getting out of a tough jam early with strikeouts of Abreu and A Rod. Go A's!

Joey C.
The only thing more sad than the picture of Corey Hart is that I PAID to see him in concert along with Rick Springfield. There were tons of hot women at that show.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 11, 2008
And only one of 'em was Corey Hart!
For having been born in 1984, I really know way too much 80’s music.
Joey C. - June 11, 2008
Me too.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 11, 2008
but I wasn't born in the 80's :-(
ohtobe21likehuston - June 11, 2008
It's overrated
Trust me.
I thought the Scorpions were the be-all-to-end-all thanks to my dad.
Yeah.
Joey C. - June 11, 2008

My reaction when I saw "Rock You Like a Hurricane" on Guitar Hero III...
... legendary.
Joey C. - June 11, 2008
Damn this thread.
I’ve totally stopped paying attention to the game in favor of looking up ‘80s rock songs on Youtube.
IowaA'sFan - June 11, 2008
I used to own a "metal" tape of Love at First Sting
ohtobe21likehuston - June 11, 2008

He’s still Zito.
IowaA'sFan - June 11, 2008
Don't be so negative...
ohtobe21likehuston - June 11, 2008
You're right.
Actually, I still have a very soft spot in my heart for Zito. Still, whatever the explanation is, he’s been downright horrible lately. It’s sad.
IowaA'sFan - June 11, 2008
Just got my new SI and he is in the "Who's hot" category.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 11, 2008
Oh come on!
That’s going way too far.
IowaA'sFan - June 11, 2008
Just looked at an issue from 1981 and had forgotten
that they used to write very good, long articles. Now it’s just snippets of info.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 11, 2008
but they did a little article on Blez and that was cool.

HELP!
I just moved back to the Bay from Boston. I used to watch games on MLB.com, now I am getting blacked out. Any way to get around this? I seem to recall a post about using a mirror site or something? This must be something AN deals with frequently, please just point me in the right direction.
With thanks,

What was the trick in 07?
Mark Borgschulte - June 11, 2008
Crosby skills and dash!
And young (Barton).
Nico - June 11, 2008
You can see
the potential there. How much fun will that be?

lynnzgal - June 11, 2008
Hey...
Any time we’re far enough up on the Yankees for the announcer to do a John-Madden-and-the-seagulls impression is a very very good day.
nevermoor - June 11, 2008
Picture His Hair,
there.
lynnzgal - June 11, 2008
***REMINDER ALERT***
It’s 8-1!!!!
ohtobe21likehuston - June 11, 2008

“What happened?”
Flashfire - June 11, 2008
Bo-Cro!
Make it 9!
lynnzgal - June 11, 2008
Awesome performance
Its great that Ellis, Chavez and Crosby are Hitting so well. They are the heart and soul of the team. No matter who is playing DH and OF these infielders will be in the line-up.
Its great to see Ellis’ average rise up from about a week ago.
Still can’t wait for Frank and the Sweeney’s to get back.
WE ARE IN THE PLAYOFF RACE. Only 2.5 GB behind TB for Wild Card. LETS GO A’s!!
Yellowhorse - June 11, 2008
Tack the Devil back on the Rays

I just didn't think AN had enough right tab indentations to hold it all
oaklandSMASH - June 11, 2008
And so,
lets keep it going!
lynnzgal - June 11, 2008
This is the song that never ends
It just goes on and on my friends…
oaklandSMASH - June 11, 2008
Ok,
Now I’m totally embarrassed.
lynnzgal - June 11, 2008
It was great while it lasted
though I think the lamb jumped the shark
oaklandSMASH - June 11, 2008
And you should,
I like to argue with myself.
lynnzgal - June 11, 2008
It's okay
we’re all trying to fill the, “man, Ellis is lost at the plate,” or , “the Cust experiment is off,” or “Geren doesn’t know how to move hitters in his line up,” posts tonight.
oaklandSMASH - June 11, 2008
Now, I hate myself.
lynnzgal - June 11, 2008
Have you been drinking with the dude in Pismo Beach?
Flashfire - June 11, 2008
Shuttie!
lynnzgal - June 11, 2008
Man!
I miss going to the games.
lynnzgal - June 11, 2008
Double plays lose their sting
when you’re head by 7.
Can we hit DPs after scoring a whole lotta runs?
oaklandSMASH - June 11, 2008
2.20 ERA
Whodathunkit?
He’s always been good, but most guys add a little under a run going from reliever to starter, not take one off.
Mark Borgschulte - June 11, 2008
Duchscherer has been one of the best surprises of season
He and the fact that Harden has more than 6 starts have been great surprises.
They and the bull-pen have been the number 1 reason we are in this race.
If some of the hitters keep it up and we get the injured back – WATCH OUT AL
Yellowhorse - June 11, 2008
We're gonna kick Al's ass
I’d be scared if I was an Al
oaklandSMASH - June 11, 2008
geren must of been sweating, tough call putting in calero over street
TheGreenGoldCrush - June 11, 2008
Absolutely...
against the Yankees, you never know.
louismg - June 11, 2008
Great Post.
I wonder if the Yanks get a few more hits here if he will be brought in???
Yellowhorse - June 11, 2008
it was loaded with sarcasm. i'm all seriousness, if kalero continues to struggle, bring in Ziggy
TheGreenGoldCrush - June 11, 2008
Ziggy

Calero Sucks
Zonis - June 11, 2008
I think he is gone once some of the others get back
Yellowhorse - June 11, 2008
Who would you send down when Frank and Swooney come back?
Buck and Calero get my vote
Trainman - June 11, 2008
Brown and Calero
Zonis - June 11, 2008
I guess Calero will go when Casilla comes back
Trainman - June 11, 2008
What has Buck done to justify staying over Brown
Brown has better numbers and is right handed.
Buck is much more popular with the fans, and is younger.
HOWEVER, the manager must be fair. In part because of team chemistry and morale. Brown has been more productive than Buck thus I think Brown should stay for a few more weeks.
HE should stay over Buck
Yellowhorse - June 11, 2008
Buck is better defensivly
Buck is younger, and he’s also a (former) top prospect who is part of the future of the franchise.
Brown is a stopgap of who can’t hit at all, and plays horrible defense as well, not to mention having absolutely no clue on the base paths.
Zonis - June 11, 2008
Yet in terms of usefulness to the A's, Buck outdoes Brown in pretty much all ways.
So that kind of trumps your argument.
Flashfire - June 11, 2008
Totally agree. Sweeney can take over for Buck
I still say Petitt is in line as well. I think Davis can play some middle infield in a pinch.
Yellowhorse - June 11, 2008
We do not need to see Donnie Murphy back
Petit is way better than him. The only problem is Petit need plahying time to develop.
He should be in tomorrow spelling Crosby and Bowen in replacing Suzuki but then you have to get that past Geren to work
Trainman - June 11, 2008
I think Petit would be better getting more playing time in minors
I know I am in the minority but I think we can go with 5 infielders (not counting F. Thomas and Davis whom both played infield in past)
Yellowhorse - June 11, 2008
I want to go to bed
C’mon Calero!
paradox - June 11, 2008
You want to go to bed with Kiko?
Englishmajor - June 11, 2008

IowaA'sFan - June 11, 2008

Joey C. - June 11, 2008
There we go.

IowaA'sFan - June 11, 2008
Calero
Scares me.
lynnzgal - June 11, 2008
Used
to be reliable.
Mark Borgschulte - June 11, 2008
Good for Ziggy to have Calero suck
Good for Calero to do his sucking in an 8-1 game.
Nico - June 11, 2008
wtf
I turn over to the gamecast and we have scored 8 runs and Suzuki hasnt been stinking it up.
A'sfaninNC - June 11, 2008
BOOOOOOOO !!!!
drink409 - June 11, 2008
All Calero's fault
Why not let Duchscherer get the complete game???
Yellowhorse - June 11, 2008
What about Brown in the 8th?
Flashfire - June 11, 2008
I don't understand Brown got them out in the 8th
I think they should have left him in
Yellowhorse - June 11, 2008
Damn
hope Embree’s arm is okay
oaklandSMASH - June 11, 2008
It wasn't his arm...
His leg buckled underneath him. Looked bad.
louismg - June 11, 2008

oaklandSMASH - June 11, 2008
Ground ball please

louismg - June 11, 2008
IN NO CIRCUMSTANCE SHOULD STREET BE CONSIDERED
If the other relievers can’t hold a 7 run lead we don’t deserve to win
Yellowhorse - June 11, 2008
Street does not need to be involved with his bad groin
Should have left Andrew Brown in there
Trainman - June 11, 2008

What was a rule passed that says a reliever can’t pitch more than 1 inning??
OH WELL

What happened with Calero?
I turned off the TV mid 8th, thinking it’ll be an easy 8-1 win with the good bullpen we have. Logged on AN and Gameday, saw Calero loaded the bases with two walks. Walking people with a 7-run lead?!
