First of all, I can't believe that we've had five years of AN days, but I don't think the calendar is lying to us!
Blez and I are currently working on dates for AN Day (most likely a weekend in August), and I thought I would start to get the word out there. I will put it to a vote as soon as we have some concrete dates, but I wanted everyone to know that this is in the works.
For those of you who haven't attended an AN Day, it's an amazing experience to watch an A's home game with people that many of us have only 'met' online. It includes a BBQ beforehand, usually a special speaker, and some prizes and giveaways.
We are aiming to make this year's the best one yet, so if you haven't attended in the past, please come (NRAF's, we'll give you time to book a flight)! And for those of you who attend regularly, we will see you there!

Possibly, if my mom lets me out of the basement.

Here's hoping your Mom retains the status quo
Speaking of which, I want to go but August tends to be a busy month for me.

Now that's just mean. When you said that, it cut me. And I hurt.

And when you hurt, I don't care

And when you don't care, I keep hurting.

Works for me
grover - April 23, 2008
and when it works for you, it makes me cry on the inside.
mikev - April 23, 2008
I don’t even care about your stupid AN days
ArakSOT - April 23, 2008

All the cool kids stay home. Neener neener.

I would love to go
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend unless someone wants to pay to fly me across the country cough-blez-cough. Better yet, cough-PT-cough. Don’t let me down PT, that has to warrant some kind of witty retort.

Aug 17 @ 1:05pm vs CWS

Aug. 16-17 Works best for me
Aug. 30th is the start of college football so I’ll be in Tempe, AZ for the ASU season opener. Hopefully the consenus is Aug. 16th-17th works for most.
norcaldevilasu - April 24, 2008
ditto
August 30th is Cal vs. Michigan St. here in Berkeley. It will be tough to do a Cal-A’s double header….
gigglingone - April 25, 2008
Looks like August 17 is my preference
although maybe late July would work too.
Definitely NOT August 30 or 31. No non no nein nyet!

I'd like to go
and would bring the fam.
Speaking of which, anybody here ever taken a baby/toddler to a game?
phastphill - April 23, 2008
sal went last year.
Jennifer - April 23, 2008
"Sal bringing his fam" consisted of dragging his
pregnant wife to a hot ballpark.
We did bring the baby to the A’s opener this year…he lasted about 6 innings before mrs. salb918 took him home. He cried when Jack Cust hit a home run – probably knew it would be the last one for a while.
salb918 - April 23, 2008
I took my 4 year old.
My best advice:
Get assigned seats somewhere, not bleacher tickets, that way you can show up right at game time and sit down.
Check out Stomper’s Kid Zone or whatever they’re calling it.
Take pictures.
mikev - April 23, 2008
thanks.
we’re going tomorrow, and have field seats … thinking of it as an experiment. :)
phastphill - April 23, 2008
I didn't think of how bad it would be with bleacher seats
Normally I get there nice and early, and I did the same when I brought my kid.
He could only sit for so long (which ended up being about 2 hours) so we didn’t get to see very much of the game.
However, the hot chick in teh RF bleachers gave him a batting practice HR ball, so that was pretty sweet.
mikev - April 23, 2008
I'm in
I’ll bring Mrs doctorK, and possibly little miss specialK as well.
doctorK - April 23, 2008
Unlikely unless it's really soon.
I would either be bringing a very pregnant wife, or a very tiny baby.
jeepers - April 23, 2008
Are noobs welcome?
I’ve been reading posts here for quite a while, but just recently started posting. Just as long as you all don’t throw hot dogs at the noob, I’M THERE!
surfinsushi - April 23, 2008
I will be there
I haven’t been very active on AN this year. But I totally enjoyed myself last year, so I am sure I will be there!!
BobbyCrosbysGirl - April 23, 2008
Love the sig...
It was weird seeing him play AGAINST us. =/ I miss screaming GO SWISH!!!
surfinsushi - April 23, 2008
Count me in, whenever the actual date may be
I’ll definitely be there, most likely without a shirt draped over my head during the game this year. (But really, who can say?) And thanks, as always, for your hard work in putting the event together, BBG.
Yes, SurfinSushi, noobs are definitely welcome. So many people attend that new and old members tend to blend together, making it difficult to set up an effective hierarchy of any sort. You might still get a hot dog thrown at you, but that’s more due to the fact that Billy can be rather testy when asked about whether he plans to pursue trades with the Dodgers. (As Nico found out last year.)
Oh and is there any way to make Jennifer come? I mean come on!
Wes7 - April 23, 2008
that last paragraph is up for grabs
I ain’t goin’ there.
monkeyball - April 24, 2008
Would love to make it again this year!
Although if it’s the weekend of the 30th we won’t be able to make it.
indigo - April 23, 2008
I want to come to AN day...
Aug 30,31 are dates that I can definitely make.
IM4Oakgal - April 24, 2008
I can make it this year! Yay!!!
As long as it’s not between May 30-June 18, I’m in. I would much much much much prefer the earlier August weekend….or even late July, that would work…..
