Saturday market shopping list

Well, damn. With all the rain today, a lot of my favorite vendors weren't at the market this morning. I had a whole list of stuff I was looking for: locally-grown green pitchers, a free-range shortstop, a brace of hot corners ... 'course, there's limits to being a committed locavore. Some things you just can't grow or manufacture in these parts. So I had been thinking about going on-line to order the industrial-strength bats; I kind of don't care where they're made or how much they cost, because ... well, some things you can only take bargain-hunting and self-imposed ethical limitations just so far. So what's on your off-season shopping list?

I was thinking...

maybe another throw back A’s jersey, but one that is actually my size so I could wear more often.

Barring that, maybe a Cubs or White Sox throwback Jersey if I could afford it/find it cheap. I really like the look of this one, to be honest.

one of those New Era A's caps

with the skyline and the Bay Bridge that hasn’t even been finished yet.

Pat the Bat, at a reasonable cost, and Giambi on a one year deal...

and if you’re really feeling adventurous, throw in a Furcal while your at it, and swing a trade for Beltre.

Is "Pat the Bat" a Bachelor Party reference?
I was goin' for Burrell...but you can have your choice
if he could be gotten "reasonably", that would be very nice
Appearently I bought my wife a Kindle

So the bulk of my Christmas shopping is done, which is nice.

I wouldn't have figured that for a firefighter-friendly brand name
At $325 a pop, it better not burst into flames
Offseason shopping list

-New home
-New Laptop
-New stereo system
-JJ Hardy for Street +
-Adrian Beltre for Sweeney +….with extension
-Jason Giambi/Adam Dunn/Pat Burrell
-Pet Monkey

sorry, I'm spoken for
Yes, I speak for Monkeyball now

He officially has no comment.

Mat Gamel and Alcides Escobar

-Crosby’s DFA papers, or he’s “Kotsayed” (salary eaten, traded).
-A young competent third baseman/shortstop. (Ian Stewart/Daniel Murphy plz). Main trade chips are Street and Smith.
-The A’s adopting the relief ace/superior method of bullpen management, and sticking to it.
-Furcal on a 1 year deal as a stopgap

I like the idea of a free range shortstop

Can we go ahead and put up with the growth hormone, or is that milking it too much?

well, given the abuse we've heaped on Crosby, he's certainly not cruelty-free
I enjoy him for breakfast

I just wish he’d skip lunge.

if we get another shortstop, PaulThomas will tell us that Crosby is suppernumerary
Does that mean he's grass fed?
he's grass fed with an extra growth hormone...

we want him on our team why??

Shopping lists...

I have more money to spend now, because a jersey i was about to buy (for a lot of money) didn’t happen….
I NEED A NEW COMPUTER!!!!!!!
and a shortstop/good bat would be nice too… but I have this bad feeling that once we trade Crosby he’s going to get really good with whatever team he goes to. I hope I’m wrong, because then I would be sad.

Joe Dillon

oh wait…
