With AssJack on the Sox, no way should any AN’er be pulling for them.
doctorK - October 2, 2008
If the Sox playel BoSox/Slegna, you'd be telling a completely different story
Blicks - October 2, 2008
Absolutely true
We’ll see next round, but hopefully AssJack and company will be watching with us.
doctorK - October 2, 2008
Question: Would anyone here trade Ryan Sweeney for Nick Swisher?
I know I sure as hell would. Wonder if Kenny W would?
Zonis - October 2, 2008
i brought it up a few days ago
certain people were not into the idea. apparently swisher isn’t cute enough.
xbhaskarx - October 2, 2008
That's exactly it.
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
It's very strange
that Swisher went from a pitcher’s park to a hitter’s park and saw all of his stats take such a plunge.
Soaker - October 2, 2008
nope.
Christine - October 2, 2008
admin folks couldn’t just move the current game thread to the front page?
xbhaskarx - October 2, 2008
the interweb is complicated
oakinboston - October 2, 2008
Believe me, you did not want me doing that.
Last time, it went shooting off into space and I haven’t seen the comments yet.
baseballgirl - October 2, 2008
heh
vladFAIL.gif
xbhaskarx - October 2, 2008
The utter stupidity of the Swisher talk in the other thread should have the entire thing blown up
I can’t believe how many people were just flat-out wrong about him in there.
thejd44 - October 2, 2008
I had no idea Cliff Floyd was on the Rays.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Longoria is awesome
I love that manboy.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
haha i love that manboy. Niiiiice! I love him too :) Glad I wore my Longoria jersey today. The guy is a hell of a natural talent. He is so fun to watch play! Let’s go Rays :) Only AL team that I can even staaaand that is playing in this postseason!
ilovegregsmith - October 2, 2008
Oh, and I think it's safe to say
This is the most exciting post-season game so far.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
I LOVE IT!
And I have a CLEAR favorite…makes a difference.
baseballgirl - October 2, 2008
Yep
It’s not as exciting as when the A’s were in the play-offs a few years back. But I am so glad to actually care about one of the teams and the outcome of the series.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
Swisher's doodling on his bat?
Rocktopus - October 2, 2008
Doesn't have anything better to do.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
No joke...can can you blame them?
His replacement has a 3-run bomb.
baseballgirl - October 2, 2008
His replacement also misplayed an easy popup
thejd44 - October 2, 2008
Sounds like something my mom would've hit me for doing, if she caught me in the act
doctorK - October 2, 2008
Thats Gross
Zonis - October 2, 2008
Yeah, AJ's hair is pretty bad.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Weird
I was just going to say that.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
As bad as Uribe's goatee?
OaktownPower - October 2, 2008
That's pretty bad too.
AJ’s is worse, though, just because it’s AJ.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
exactly. Everything about him is worse..just because he is AJ
ilovegregsmith - October 2, 2008
GO RAYS!
pam5981 - October 2, 2008
I want a Longoria shirt
I don’t want to feel like a bandwagon fan though :(
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
FAIL
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
Man, Pierzynski was doing all kinds of weird things on that at-bat.
Rocktopus - October 2, 2008
Ha! That was awesome.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
What in the blue bleeding hell was AssJack doing trying to steal?
doctorK - October 2, 2008
A better nickname
but sadly he failed, so AssJack it stays.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
This thread is too quiet
Stop working and pay attention to the game. I’m bored.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
every body clap your hands
clapclapclapclapclapclapclapclap
oakinboston - October 2, 2008
Barely have enough time to check Gameday every couple minutes.
pam5981 - October 2, 2008
I'm laying in bed
Watching the game in HD, Ray would be so proud.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
Hey!
Why aren’t you at school young man?
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
I went to class already
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
Oh!
See, you didn’t miss anything!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
I know!
I got out early, and practically ran from my class to my car to hear the start of the game.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
Well no wonder you're bored.
Get a job!
pam5981 - October 2, 2008
Shananana-shanananana!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
No Dibs?
FAIL, says Ray!
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
I should go get some
that sounds absolutely delicious.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
From tampabay.com
Soaker - October 2, 2008
Once an A, always an A.
Rocktopus - October 2, 2008
Dan Johnson was teaching him how to use sunscreen.
Zonis - October 2, 2008
Go Rays!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Did anyone read Buster Olney this morning?
"• If the money can be worked out, a reunion of Jason Giambi with the Oakland Athletics might well happen in 2009. "
kbtoyz - October 2, 2008
Speculation
albe, one that AN has been making for quite some time.
Zonis - October 2, 2008
Longo again!
What a day for him. 3/3 2 HRs 3 RBIs 2 Runs
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
What a stud.
pam5981 - October 2, 2008
Longo only pawn, in game of life
doctorK - October 2, 2008
He's simply awesome!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Amazing.
baseballgirl - October 2, 2008
We need a Nick Swisher update
Rocktopus - October 2, 2008
Taking a nap in the clubhouse
currently dreaming about playing for the A’s again.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
I want to see him tidying up the dugout, sweeping beneath players' feet.
Maybe knitting a sweater.
Rocktopus - October 2, 2008
Wearing a French maid outfit
Would that make him cute enough?
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
I believe so, yes.
Rocktopus - October 2, 2008
Bring Swish back!
He’s cute again.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
In one of these, courtesy Ozzie
Move over, little dog, big dog is movin’ in
doctorK - October 2, 2008
Lunch time!
Am I in the right place? I was seeing double-threads, and thought I was just seeing double. Especially after Longoria’s second at-bat.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Quick, everyone hide!
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Am in the doghouse too?
You could have at least told me. A warning. Something.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Down boy
WAIT – I’ll get you a milkbone.
doctorK - October 2, 2008
Scooby snack!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
ruh roh!
oakinboston - October 2, 2008
I wonder if he likes yogurt.
My dog loves yogurt, carrots, and bread. She won’t eat lettuce, though.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
I thought I could just hump your leg.
But that would probably be weird.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
(not that there's anything wrong with that)
doctorK - October 2, 2008
I seriously cannot type anymore
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Well, I can't read, either,
because I didn’t notice an error until I read it like five times.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Does that mean
“I” am not missed? Damn.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Freakin meetings
Just when the thread starting getting good, too.
doctorK - October 2, 2008
No? Are you coming back? You'll be back right?
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
I hope David Price is their closer for this series
miggyk2 - October 2, 2008
I hope David Price is their closer for the next 2 series.
Rocktopus - October 2, 2008
Next 3 Series?
miggyk2 - October 2, 2008
Screw it next 4 series
miggyk2 - October 2, 2008

thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
Is this is an auction?
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Sold.
Rocktopus - October 2, 2008
This giant red umbrella commercial confuses me.
The commercial might be memorable, but I’ve already forgotten the company it’s for.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
travellers insurance!
i love the big red umbrella and the dude in the bowler hat
oakinboston - October 2, 2008
it was so cute.
I was hoping it was a movie trailer somehow.
Christine - October 2, 2008
RyRy's surgery was a success.

Buster and a Rays thread...
I so love AN today.
hook slide:
Christine - October 2, 2008
Hmmmm, this is odd.
I just opened my Quill box and in the bottom of the box is half of a clothespin.
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Wow, I hadn't seen clips of those fights before.
That’s intense.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
This Gonzo guy confuses me
Why should I listen to him? What makes his blog have any sort of significance in MLB? Who is he?
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
He's an actor.
He’s on Reaper currently. Also played in Coach Carter.
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
Oh.
I still don’t like him.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
He's better than Dame Cook.
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
And Frank Caliendo
stupid stupid Frank.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
i miss swish
DyeLongJustice - October 2, 2008

whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008

DyeLongJustice - October 2, 2008

I’m interested in what it is though.

thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
I could see the confusion, though.
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
Or CJ, whatevs
baseballgirl - October 2, 2008
I agree with hitting him
but he should have hit him in the head.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
Oopsy!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
C'MON BULLPEN RAYS!
baseballgirl - October 2, 2008

xbhaskarx - October 2, 2008
I’m just stopping by to say that Evan is amazing and I <3 him.
drmmerchk - October 2, 2008
Tense situation.
Need an Indian accent.

Wow.
oblique - October 2, 2008
What's happening!
This is when Gameday is not so hot.
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Balfour and Cabrera were yelling at each other
for some unknown reason. Cabrera struck out swinging… Balfour was pleased.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Thanks!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Don't know what was going on
but Balfour would have been better off quietly taking his win in that battle back to the dugout.
Soaker - October 2, 2008
DAMN, what a performance!!!!!
You’ve got to me kidding me! Bases loaded, one out, and Balfour strikes out TWO PEOPLE to keep the lead. AWESOME!!!
baseballgirl - October 2, 2008
And told Cabrera to go sit the f*** down.
THAT was awesome.
baseballgirl - October 2, 2008
haha
sure was awesome! Sucks to be Cabrera…gonna pop off out the mouth and not even back it up with anything. Great job Balfour!!!
ilovegregsmith - October 2, 2008
Did he really say that?
Blicks - October 2, 2008
lets go, brother of Justin
DyeLongJustice - October 2, 2008
or not
DyeLongJustice - October 2, 2008
How awesome would it be if Evan hit another HR right now?
drmmerchk - October 2, 2008
Evan betta', dum dum dum
DyeLongJustice - October 2, 2008
too awesome
i love watching that man trot around the bases lol
ilovegregsmith - October 2, 2008
they smarted up, and are going to walk him
DyeLongJustice - October 2, 2008
eh i would have walked him too lol
ilovegregsmith - October 2, 2008
I should have ordered myself a Longoria shirt/jersey when he was drafted. But I guess I couldn’t really since I didn’t know what number he’d be.
drmmerchk - October 2, 2008
that's how I felt when...
Larish was drafted by the Tigers. but I’m glad I didn’t because he’s changed his number about a million times since he’s been up/down.
Christine - October 2, 2008
I like stolen bases. I can’t lie.
drmmerchk - October 2, 2008
you're like the sir mix-a-lot of small ball.
xbhaskarx - October 2, 2008
QOTM
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
I can deal with the A’s not stealing though, because I dislike getting caught stealing almost as much as I like when they’re successful lol
drmmerchk - October 2, 2008
Lol i got mine as soon as he did get himself a number lol him and Ryan Sweeney. The moment i found out their numbers i had jerseys and shirts done
ilovegregsmith - October 2, 2008
Nice. I should’ve done that lol
drmmerchk - October 2, 2008
i wish we had longoria...i'd trade chavez and a lifetime supply of ice cream for him
DyeLongJustice - October 2, 2008
lol it’s not too laaate! do it! Ok…wow I love Chavy..LOVE him..but I wish we had Longo too!
ilovegregsmith - October 2, 2008
and a lifetime supply of ice cream..that’s the best deal i’ve ever heard
ilovegregsmith - October 2, 2008
Let’s go Ray-ays, lets go! haha
drmmerchk - October 2, 2008
Haha!
My Gameday pictures are stuck on Balfour and Cabrera.
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Did everyone go back to work?
drmmerchk - October 2, 2008
I went and took a shower
don’t know what happened to everyone else.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
I thought my AN was broken :( It got very quiet.
drmmerchk - October 2, 2008
I may have misprogrammed the meteor to hit NorCal.
Although I hope that’s not the case… if it is, this very well might be my last comment.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
COME ON!
I thought we gave you the precise coordinates of Angel stadium.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
i do not like you mr. konerko
DyeLongJustice - October 2, 2008
How far has Swish fallen?
Dwayne Wise starting over him in the playoffs, not to mention Quentin is out, so he’s down on the depth chart…bring him back
streetisclosedin08 - October 2, 2008
seriously, how much could the sox actually want for him? if we could trade for him
for a decent package, i might be inclined to do it. he’s kinda like jack cust light.
DyeLongJustice - October 2, 2008
LOL
countingto4FAIL.gif
xbhaskarx - October 2, 2008
Geez Konerko!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Whoa.
I bet Wheeler wishes he would’ve given him the walk now.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
ken griffey used to be the MAN too...how the mighty have fallen
DyeLongJustice - October 2, 2008
He is about to turn 39.
OaktownPower - October 2, 2008
ya but randy johnson is turning like 100 soon
and that didn’t slow him down any
DyeLongJustice - October 2, 2008
Really?
Rocktopus - October 2, 2008
swisher sighting!
on deck with 2 outs.
xbhaskarx - October 2, 2008

lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Yay Rays! WOOOO!
drmmerchk - October 2, 2008
Game over!
Rays win! Rays win! Rays win!
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
So I have to say I am pretty happy with the results of each first game.
drmmerchk - October 2, 2008
Woohoo Rays!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
"How great is it to be so awesome, Evan?"
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Yeah Rays!!!!!
baseballgirl - October 2, 2008
RAYS!!!
Blicks - October 2, 2008
I just slept through half my evening class.
Blicks - October 2, 2008
YES!!!!!!!
I am so excited at least one of my teams is in the playoffs. I love the Rays. great game :) I had to watch the first part at the gym and it was so hard not to throw my arms up and cheer on the elliptical. the person next to me was a little bit scared for my mental health. luckily I watched innings 4-9 at home where I could be as insane as I wanted to be without feeling judged ;) my boy Kazzy is pitching tomorrow. I can’t wait. years of rooting for these lovable losers and it’s finally paying off! but I’m torn between being excited by the new fans and being annoyed by the bandwagoners. ah well :\
Christine - October 2, 2008
Brewers with the bases loaded
in the first with only one out
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
FAIL, Brewers.
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
It's okay. CC's got grit.
He doesn’t need run support.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
I'm craving hot dogs.
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Maybe the Philly Phanatic will shoot one your way.
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
terrorist
doctorK - October 2, 2008
Haha!
Fire that hot dog inventory manager now!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Holy hell.
Shane was at third before the ball even hit the ground.
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
they dont call him the flyin hawiian for nothing
DyeLongJustice - October 2, 2008
I like these Phillies unis better than the ones they were wearing yesterday.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
What is everyone watching the game, and I have to work? :-)
baseballgirl - October 2, 2008
There is a person behind the screen...
second row, first seat on the left side… wearing a white hat…. It very well could be Cousin Itt.
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
The Addams family is into baseball?
I hope Uncle Fester is there too.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
Go CC!
pam5981 - October 2, 2008
You spelled it right!
It’s no longer C.C.
baseballgirl - October 2, 2008
I saw CC on a Vallejo car dealership commercial
Reppin his hometown.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
LEMURCONKERS!
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
Hahahaha!!!
baseballgirl - October 2, 2008
I could honestly care less about who wins this series.
Either way I don’t think they’ll be able to compete with the winner of Dodgers/Cubs.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
how much less could you care? could you care a lot less?
xbhaskarx - October 2, 2008
I could care more actually.
a lot more.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
now i don’t know what to believe
xbhaskarx - October 2, 2008
I don't either, just believe I don't care about this series.
Although I will watch it.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
I heart the DH.
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
Is Sabathia on 3 days rest again?
It’s going to bite him in the ass sooner than later.
Go Milwaukee anyway.
Trainman - October 2, 2008
They just answered that
4 straight start on 3 days rest.
I guess it was necessary to get to playoffs but it will also cost them and him IMO
Trainman - October 2, 2008
Phillies fans are dumb
Standing ovation for your shitty pitcher fouling off some pitches. congrats philadelphia, you’re dumb as hell.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
I think they promted the crowd to "make noise"
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
damnit
xbhaskarx - October 2, 2008
Ouch
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
That made me feel nothing
How can a series bring me no emotions!
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
That was a grand slam home run, in case you were wondering.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
good, in case i were to take it out of context.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
lol I had to come back to AN for just such a comment.
drmmerchk - October 2, 2008
[mute]
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
However,
I am now singing “You can ring my beeeeelllllll, eeeeeeellllll, eeeeellllllllllllll…. ring my bell” after bell shot.
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
from now on i'm going to call any bases-clearing hit a grand slam
“and it’s a grand slam double!”
xbhaskarx - October 2, 2008
Flyin Hawaiian!
OaktownPower - October 2, 2008
Should fly back to Hawaii
and leave CC alone.
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
Looked like Howard was eating Myers' ear.
nom nom nom
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
I hope this game is full of offense and goes back and forth and has a dramatic finish! That would be fun.
drmmerchk - October 2, 2008
Did Howard just nuzzle Myers' neck?
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
What the hell is going on here?
Is there a Howard and Myers love affair going on?
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
I used to call him Werthless when he “played” for the Dodgers.
drmmerchk - October 2, 2008
geeze, i step way for a few minutes, and the Phillies get score happy
DyeLongJustice - October 2, 2008
C'mon Princess.
pam5981 - October 2, 2008
Our post-season picks have all been perfect...
EXCEPT for the Brew Crew…FAIL
baseballgirl - October 2, 2008
Complete FAIL so far.
At least it’s only half over. They could potentially turn it around. Though maybe the three days rest is finally catching up to CC.
Also – did Longoria have 3 HR? I thought 2 HR and 3 RBI…?
pam5981 - October 2, 2008
Longoria had 2 HRs
thesteve9x - October 2, 2008
FAIL baseballgirl
That was actually a spelling error, since I know how many HR’s he hit:
I spelled “two” T-H-R-E-E.
Whatevs. :-)
baseballgirl - October 2, 2008
Nice catch in the hat by the fan!
drmmerchk - October 2, 2008
I love bad batting stances
Counsell
me
doctorK - October 2, 2008
Counsell’s batting stance bugs me so much and I’m not really sure why other than that it looks funny. I don’t understand how people develop really unique stances. Like, when in their lives do they think “I’m going to try this way, it’s more comfortable” and then they end up hitting better? Seems so strange to me haha
drmmerchk - October 2, 2008
i think brad ziegler would like to argue
DyeLongJustice - October 2, 2008
Unique pitching deliveries don’t bug me lol just batting stances.
drmmerchk - October 2, 2008
In my case, it is simply because I'm not very good

Counsell looks like he's going to whack the plate with his bat.
Funny that Kendall’s catching in that pic.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Yayyy!
Baseball I can actually see!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Bye CC!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Well, that certainly wasn't the CC we saw on Sunday.
Brewers have a lot of work to do.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
maybe he needed less rest
DyeLongJustice - October 2, 2008
See: Red Sox circa 2003, 2004, 2007
It can be done.
Although I far from enjoyed 2003 and 2007 (and 2004, because it led to the development of Sawx Nation)
Blicks - October 2, 2008
Oh, I know it can be done.
It just usually happens to be done by teams I dislike. Stupid Red Sox.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
I will pretend to passionately dislike the Brewers
since I was rooting for(and picked, especially with pitching matchups concerned) the opposition all those years with the exception of 2004 (Yanks v. Sox- although I picked the Yanks to win that one).
Blicks - October 2, 2008

justarebelheart - October 2, 2008
I think fake_AlaskaA is cooking
baseballgirl - October 2, 2008
I just made pasta sauce,

lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Holy cow, Gagne is hairy.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Good one Jason!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
That was a lovely nap.
I’m ready for game 3 now!
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
I've also been waiting for Dodgers-Cubs
just checking in on Philadelphia occasionally. One thing about all those A’s Division Series appearances earlier in the decade, they were all outstanding series from the competitive standpoint and there was rarely even a dull game. This series seems like a real snoozer, kind of like the times the Rangers played the Yankees in the late ’90’s.
Soaker - October 2, 2008
Sadly, they only got really exciting
after we took 2-0 leads. Granted, they were plenty exciting to us up to that point.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Hmmm, not sure I agree
In 2000 and 2002 the first two games were split.
2001, the first two games had the whole “postseason at Yankee Stadium after 9/11” atmosphere.
2003 included the bunt-off in the first game. That was about as good a game as any baseball fan could ask for.
Soaker - October 2, 2008
That's what I get for writing before thinking
I was at Games 1 and 2 of the 2000 ALDS and I don’t recall anything terribly exciting about them (speaking only about the games, and from an objective point of view)
By contrast, the first two games of 2001 were pretty exciting, and not just for the 9/11 effect (though it helped).
Game 1 of the 2002 ALDS was a sloppy mess (and so I was I – drunk with too much sun), and Game 2 a 9-1 laugher.
Yes, the walk-off bunt was a beauty, but Game 2 was dominated by Zito (exciting for us).
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Also being objective here
2000 had the story line of the who-the-hell-are-the-Green-and-Gold guys competing with the two-time defending World Champions from the Evil Empire. For non-A’s fans, the 2000 A’s had a little bit of 2008 Rays in them.
Yes, the 2002 ALDS was ugly, but you sensed that the teams were evenly matched, and it did come down to the last pitch.
I think the only real ALDS stinker for the impartial fan was the 2006 series vs. the Twins. Once the A’s beat Santana, it seemed like all the air came out of the Twins.
Soaker - October 2, 2008
I can agree with you on that
On all accounts.
We cared the shit out of the Yankees two years in a row. Damn shame we couldn’t close one of them (or both). A part of me feels like that impacted the 2002 and 03 series more than we care to admit.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
We scared, not cared.
I need to go home.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
yes, i thought so too on my "good days" when I
was recovering after those two series over the years…..with the Byrnes – Tejada fiasco sending me over the edge.
ak_A - October 2, 2008
Game 1 of the '03 ALDS
was the first (and only) playoff game I saw in person. It was absolutely amazing.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
I set a record by seeing the A's lose playoff games
in Game 1 (‘02), Game 2 (’00), Game 3 (‘01), Game 4 (’00), and Game 5 (’03).
I was at wins in Game 1 (‘00 and ’03), so I’m not a total jinx. Just partial.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
BTW, not disagreeing with you
Just seeing how good my memory was.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
It's a shame
Milwaukee is about to see it’s season go bye-bye. I kind of wanted to see what Prince would do for an encore.

I'm sorry
I think that’s why I keep posting it though.
And I thought you’d be the one to agree with that logic, for some reason.
Not sure if I should feel ashamed or disappointed.

Theriot was Out #1
Lee was Out #2.

While TBS runs Frank TV and Captain Morgan commercials, KNBR 1050 carries a between-innings ad for something called “AdamAndEve.com”, which sounds more than a little NSFW. They have some specials on toys this week.

Mexican orders a shot of tequila, lifts his glass, and says, “SPIT.”
Cowboy is puzzled. Orders another shot of whiskey, and says, louder, “T-G-I-F, compadre!”
Mexican orders another shot of tequila: “S-P-I-T!”
Cowboy, with yet another shot of whiskey: “T-G-I-F. That’s Thank God it’s Friday, friend!”

why is it that no one ever tries to plug the curse of Johnny Evers?
We get to hear years about a stupid goat not getting allowed into a stadium, and even more about Babe Ruth being pissed for getting sold to where he could win a bunch of World Series, but here is a case where I guy must have either sold his soul to the devil or angered the baseball gods by making an ump make a techincally correct call (Merkle’s boner), the Cubs then go on a 100 year drought, but no one mentions it???

Blicks - October 2, 2008
Only 2 games tomorrow.
At least they should be more exciting.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Rich!
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
is awesome
Blicks - October 2, 2008
I miss him!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
The rest of my comment said "sigh"
but it disappeared. I keep forgetting New AN doesn’t like one-word comments.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Really?
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Er, I should have said one-word "messages"
or whatever you call the non-bolded part that I’m typing right now.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Oh.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Fine!
What it really hates is when you write something as the subject and then only have one word in the message section. I’m telling the truth, I promise.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Do you type the subject
hit preview, then type the comment?
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
Trying it
now
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
like
this?
doctorK - October 2, 2008
Awesome
job!
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Don't patronize
me.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
I still think you're
wonderful.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
That's because I
am.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
You
tell ’em!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Ohhh.
So there is a loophole. Can’t believe I didn’t think of that one.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Mine DOESN'T work when I type the subject
preview, then add a comment. I thought that was what you were doing.
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
What I'm doing now
is typing the subject, hitting preview, typing the comment (not previewing) and hitting post.
What I was doing before—typing the subject and comment, and the comment part didn’t post with or without previewing first.
I have no idea what’s going on.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
OK
Thanks
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Yeah, you're evil.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
No I am
not.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Wealthy?
Oh, I hought we were playing Password
(reveals age)
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
This is a pretty good reproduction
of what the picture looked like on our 19" B&W Zenith.
Soaker - October 2, 2008
Fricking awesome
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Its depressing for me that I recognize that picture.
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
will walk off the mound in the 3rd inning accompanied by the Cubs' trainer
(I don’t wish ill on him or anything, just seems like the way the Cubs are going, that’s the likely outcome.)
Soaker - October 2, 2008
Similar to Huddy in Game 4 of the 2003 ALDS?
It will be sad.
Blicks - October 2, 2008
Do we have any good playoff memories?
This is depressing.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Marco!
Scutaro!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Owning the Twins in 2006.
Blicks - October 2, 2008
Thats a good memory, yes?
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
'72, '73, '74, '88, '89, '90
doctorK - October 2, 2008
Good doctor saves the day.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Can we have a moratorium on references to the 2003 ALDS?
It would be much appreciated.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Fine.
Blicks - October 2, 2008
I swear to God,
if anyone else brings up 2003, I will hunt every last one of you bitches down and make you eat dog crap.
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
I will happily supply the crap
We’ve got plenty
doctorK - October 2, 2008
*I* asked politely.
You’re just violent.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Not sure which I prefer
Depends on my mood, I suppose.
Can one be violently polite?
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Cubs trying to act like they still care
doctorK - October 2, 2008
Someone tell TBS that being good at impressions and being funny are two different things.
Rocktopus - October 2, 2008
Frank? Good at impressions?
No.
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
I dunno,
his Bush impression is pretty dead on.
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Please don't make me defend Frank Caliendo.
Rocktopus - October 2, 2008
Lou Piniella WTF
Howry shouldn’t be on the playoff roster over Gaudin, and it really isn’t a good idea to use your best set up man with a 6 run deficit.
Why isn’t Howry pitching today?
Blicks - October 2, 2008
Lord Almighty, I had forgotten how bad Dick Stockton is
doctorK - October 2, 2008
I need a new thread
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
One that won't make me sick!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Winner!
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Think not. We'll have to wait until tomorrow.
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
I hope tomorrow comes.
I lay in bed at night thinking “what if tomrrow never gets here”?
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
I lay in bed at night thinking
“what if I don’t even exist?”
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
I lay in bed at night thinking
What if all this shite is for real?
doctorK - October 2, 2008
I lie in bed at night
wondering how many people know the difference between “lay” and “lie.”
[/grammar snob]
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
I always hated that one.
My ex used to lie in bed at night, too.
“Did you?”
“Yes, babe. G’ night.”
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
You ever feel like
We’re just part of one giant video game?
And Jesus and his buddies get stoned and play us?
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Shades of Truman.
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Wow.
The guy sitting next to Melonhead is suicidal.
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
It ate the rest of my comment!
“The guy sitting next to Melonhead is suicidal.”
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
No it didn't.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
I saw it the first time.
And now I just saw Melonhead and friend. Yes, suicidal is a good description.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
And yet, it is there.
I find AN eats my comments and puts them in places I don’t want them to go.
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
AN must be hungry.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
You should have seen me
trying to use the FanPost editor to put together a DLD at 4 a.m.
Soaker - October 2, 2008
I re-typed it there.
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
Edmonds would've caught that - about 5 years ago
Now – FAIL
doctorK - October 2, 2008
Edmonds got lucky there.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Which is more than I can say.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
What happened to Andre?
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
???? What are you talking about?
Blicks - October 2, 2008
Only Santino knows.
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
ooooo.....k.....
Blicks - October 2, 2008
It's a quote from Project Runway.
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
Never seen that show.
Blicks - October 2, 2008
That particular season of PR was worth seeing.
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
I liked the one before that too.
The one with Austin and the big, crazy guy that won.
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
Jay?
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
Jay's collection was unbelievable!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Last season was pretty good. Who were your favorite designers?
likeiwouldtellyou - October 2, 2008
I didn't watch last season. :(
Jennifer - October 2, 2008
I thought Jillian's work was impeccable.
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Can't wait to see ESPN tomorrow morning
CC Sabathia sucked today
ESPN morons will talk about the 2007 ALCS and how CC was a major part of the Tribe’s “choke job”.
Blicks - October 2, 2008
I bet it's going to be impossible to book a shrink in Chicago tomorrow
likeiwouldtellyou - October 2, 2008
Bwahahahahahaha.
If the White Sox lose tomorrow….
Blicks - October 2, 2008
THAT is a scary thought!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
"Nancy, you've been coming to me, what, the last 100 years?"
“Just move on already.”
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Juan Pierre to pinch hit
Game is officially over
doctorK - October 2, 2008
Bwaha.
Blicks - October 2, 2008
Did the Cubs just get a cycle in errors?
likeiwouldtellyou - October 2, 2008
LOL
doctorK - October 2, 2008
Oof
The Cubs are really quite awful on defense tonight.
doctorK - October 2, 2008
Theriot was feeling left out.
He wanted an errah too!
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
"grand slam homer"
[smashes head on table]
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
The ESPN experts predictions are hilarious
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2008/news/story?id=3619261
Can’t wait for Angels and Cubs to be canned first round.
Blicks - October 2, 2008
Good God!
Its a mash!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
This is a joke.
An unfunny one.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
What's the post season record for the most runs?
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Don't do that to me.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
By player or by team?
likeiwouldtellyou - October 2, 2008
Team.
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Boxscore
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
23 -- Boston, Oct. 10, 1999, vs. Cleveland
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
See?
That wasn"t so bad.
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
I actually impressed myself.
Hard to do.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Self confidence exercises now!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Also the ATHLETICS scored 10 runs in an inning
I think that’s the record, not sure
10-12-1929 vs. the CUBS
Soaker - October 2, 2008
Almost positive it is
And they were down 8-0 when it happened!
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Isn't that an unplayable lie
Batter should be penalized two strokes
doctorK - October 2, 2008
TWD/RS?
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
What?
likeiwouldtellyou - October 2, 2008
A little help, ladies?
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
I don't get it
likeiwouldtellyou - October 2, 2008
Two strokes?
A little Lackey.
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Instead of "that's what she said,"
AN has substituted “that’s what Ryan said” or “that’s what Dale said,” referring to Ryan Sweeney and Daric Barton, and their BFF-ness. Hence: TWDS and TWRS.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Oh, okay. Thanks. I'm king of dingy
likeiwouldtellyou - October 2, 2008
Aren't we all?
Ok, maybe just me and you, but it’s a start.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Just do a little diligent lurking here
You’ll get up to speed in no time.
Soaker - October 2, 2008
I was about to write "it's a real long story."
And then you saved me. Bless you.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
It's because I'm
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
wonderful.
(and I failed)
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Unfail.
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Worked better this
way.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
right
on
doctorK - October 2, 2008
Ooh, that hit the chalk.
Not like it really matters.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
It stopped mattering
in the second inning.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
No, because unlike in football . . .
which is fine with me.
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Rally!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Cubs can win this.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Too much, too little, too late
doctorK - October 2, 2008
I don't get it
likeiwouldtellyou - October 2, 2008
We say fail alot, too.
I mean FAIL.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
I'm rooting for the Angels to FAIL tomorrow. How's that?
likeiwouldtellyou - October 2, 2008
Pretty damn perfect, I must say.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
TWRS=Thats What Ryan Said,
TWDS=Thats What Dale (Darin) Said.
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Oh so that's what that means.
Blicks - October 2, 2008
Darin? Is that what we're calling Daric these days? ;)
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Haha!
My turn to FAIL!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Add Darin to the list of how not to say Barton's first name
doctorK - October 2, 2008
[wiggles nose]
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
Aw, that kid has hope.
How naive.
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Fukudome needs to be benched.
Blicks - October 2, 2008
Almost time, gANg
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
I like that!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
You may borrow it.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
AWWWWWWWWW!
likeiwouldtellyou - October 2, 2008
+1
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
And the plate ump says, "OK, that's enough of this crap"
doctorK - October 2, 2008
Wow, I'd hate to be in Chicago right now
likeiwouldtellyou - October 2, 2008
Well that was ugly
Yes, I specialize in understatements.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
ESPN just shit itself.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Cubs loooose.
No pressure, Rich!
whiteshoes40 - October 2, 2008
Thank goodness my BFF is a Dodgers fan,
I’ll get to see the game.
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
The most boring post season games so far
were played today. Geez guys! Step it up!
lynnzgal - October 2, 2008
8 straight playoff losses
Nice, Cubbies.
67MARQUEZ - October 2, 2008
Well, this was kind of fun. I'll talk to you guys tomorrow. See ya!
likeiwouldtellyou - October 2, 2008
Two of the most incindiery coaches in baseball
Pinella and Guillen. Awesome stuff!
