Playoffs Day One Wrap-up

Well, that was fun!

Brewers vs. Phillies
Gallardo v. Hamels
Final Score: Phillies 3, Brewers 1
Series: Phillies lead 1-0
Next Game: Tomorrow (10/2) at 3:00PM
Brew Crew Ball
The Good Phight

Aside from one sloppy inning that decided the game, this game was a great pitcher's duel pretty much the whole way through. Hamels got the win in his awesome eight innings, and Lidge the scary save, throwing a lot of pitches, as he saw the Brewers storm back to make a game out of it, scoring one run and leaving the tying runs on base.

Dodgers vs. Cubs
Lowe v. Dempster
Final Score: Dodgers 7, Cubs 2
Series: Dodgers lead 1-0
Next Game: Tomorrow (10/2) at 6:30PM
True Blue LA
Bleed Cubbie Blue

Despite the early homerun and the 2-run lead that the Cubs staked him to, Dempster danced with fire for most of the early innings, finally setting the table for a Loney grand slam. Manny being Manny put the icing on the cake with a homerun of his own, leading the Dodgers to the early series win.

Red Sox vs. Angels
Lester v. Lackey
Final Score: Boston 4, Angels 1
Series: Boston leads 1-0
Next Game: Friday (10/3) at 7:00PM
Over the Monster
Halos Heaven

I won't lie; watching the Angels lose their tenth straight postseason game to the Red Sox was fun, especially if you are sick of hearing about "Angels' Brand Baseball", which apparently is running into outs in key situations. Jason Bay being Manny erased a 1-0 deficit with an absolute bomb to stake the Sox to a 2-1 lead, which would have been enough for the win. They added two more runs, just for fun.

And if you would like photo evidence, thank Paul Thomas:

Three more games tomorrow for your viewing pleasure; including the Tampa Bay/White Sox game, which kicks off the day at 11:30AM.

And I didn't even use a stupid pun on Cole or Bay!
Angels losing on baserunning blunders

So satisfyingly ironic.

I want to get a picture of that play that I can post every time someone says something ignorant about “making the other team make a play”.

or FAIL!

That would be special too!

(p.s. Devil Wear’s Prada frowned on the Club. i know that much)

I'm a designer

That’s my connect. I’ve loved fashion since I was small.

This is some great baseball!
hahaha... 10 in a row!

I love it when Angels fans suffer.

Go Rays!

Nico brought this up in the other thread

What would you give up in a trade to aquire Jed Lowrie?

bobby crobsy

please?

Funny

like a crutch.

That went over my head.
Who would take Bobby in any trade?
I didn't suggest Bobby.

I would take him if it was a choice between Lugo and Crosby.

I don't know how good he's actually going to be

He’ll be better than Crosby, probably, but he did have a sub-.700 OPS this year.

It's Funny, I never got another phone call after Bay hit the homer

The guy called me earlier (He was a Cub Fan 1st before he became an Angel fan) and said a priest blessed the dugout at Wrigley Field. He of course is Catholic and thought that was great.

I told him, “That won’t do you any good, I am Protestant and I have a voodoo doll with pins ready to stick into the Rally Monkey”

HAHAHAHAHA!!!

I finally saw the Arby’s goat commercial.

“She’s hot”

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

= delayed response. love it

Please pull forward.
Time for Anthem.

The game was a trying one. I was undecided going into it who I was going to root more against, but being surrounded by Angel fans just made me want them to lose even if it meant Boston had to win. I kept score to keep myself from getting angry at anything lol

My brother, on the other hand… he was very pissed the whole game. You know, all the strike calls that went against the Angels and for the Red Sox… and when the umps didn’t call Ortiz out on a check swing… and the error in RF and Vlad trying to go to third, WOO those were bad. But the final straw was Ellsbury stealing 2nd in the 9th. He cussed. He yelled. He threw his hat to the ground in disgust. (my mom was very embarrassed haha)

My brother is convinced the Angels will never win another game.

I kind of hope he is right.

But basically I hope whoever wins this series gets clobbered by Tampa Bay. Assuming they can also win haha.

the Angels will never win...

another playoff game against the Red Sox. Tell your brother. Save him from the pain. Why you were undecided about this escapes me.

If you’re worried about the Sox winning another championship… don’t. The Rays will stomp them.

I was undecided because I don’t like the Red Sox at all either lol But it did not take me very long at all to realize that even though I don’t like the Red Sox, the fact that I am not completely surrounded by them makes it easier to root for them.

Or I guess it’s more the reverse of that, where being surrounded by Angel fans all the time makes me want them to lose so much more.

I'm thinking of the first round exits the A's

made earlier in the millenia. Why aren’t my Angel fan friends bringing that up anymore? 10 straight playoff losses to the Sox? Really?

I don't have any Angel friends...

but, if I did… I’d be bringing up 10 straight to them.

Be happy. Be very happy.
I'm looking forward to 12 straight!

Imagine that, in the last 3 years we will have won more playoff games than the Angels. Delicious irony….

something I was curious about

since the Cubs clinched early they presumably could have set their rotation so that Zambrano and Harden would have pitched Games 1 and 2 (not necessarily in that order0, or even pitched Lilly, instead of Dempster in Game 1 opposite Lowe. Granted, Dempster was unbeaten at home during the season — but this was Game 1 of the postseason.

You’d think the Cubs would have taken advantage of their earlier clinch to put a top starter with some postseason experience in that situation.
