Granted, the Giants offense is a sort of Perjurers' Row.
Granted, Warrantless Wiretap Park can be particularly forgiving to a flyball pitcher (though not to one who only tops out at 85 and is too coarse in the zone).
Granted, 109 pitches through 7 innings isn't optimal (though it sure as heck beats 106 through 4+).
But Dan Haren ... day-um. I'm still of the opinion that we'd be best served in the long run by Haren flying a bit lower under the radar, but it's simply great to watch him mowing down opposing lineups right now.
And that Barry Zito, he's one heck of a tonic for an ailing offense, ain't he?

oops! Posted my diary about Melhuse
before I saw your post-game wrap

re: Melhuse
Sounds like it opens the door for Brown or Suzuki to be the backup now.
Flashfire - June 9, 2007
And Piazza to be the backup
when he comes back.

whoa
mikeA - June 9, 2007
I feel bad for Melhuse
Hopefully he'll get a chance to play in Texas.

If Wash has the problems with Laird the media...
...are reporting, he probably will.

Dan Haren is amazing.
I too am a bit nervous about him being so amazing. I don't want to lose him because he's too expensive... but I'm REALLY enjoying him pitching right now. He's really amazing! According to the post game wrap up thing on the yahoo mlb page "He has a day ERA of 0.76 in five starts." That is just filthy. Love him.

Stewart gets recognition...
http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/new...
The biggest problem now is too many outfielders. DJ has kinda slowed down so maybe Swish should play first for a while so Stewart can get some PT.
Also, Rich Harden says he feels good. Hmmm... when have we heard that before...?
OaktownRajah - June 9, 2007
Well that didn't take long...
Angels already up 6-0 over STL after 3.5...

Dan Haren -- godlike, or supergodlike?
Kyli - June 9, 2007
Wouldn't ya know it
monkeyball gets to recap a rare Saturday win--second in a row, in fact, after a 2-6 Saturday start--and the Melhuse news breaks seconds later, knocking the recap right down the page. I'll say it again: it's hard out here for a chimp.
FreeSeatUpgrade - June 9, 2007
Well, I'm reading the recap first.
I support our local simian. That, and I don't want to know about Melhuse. :(

good news
...for Melhuse. Maybe he'll finally get some well-deserved playing time that he so deserves. Beane makes the right move again as he knows, like the rest of us, that Kennedy is just about to take off offensively and end up at the .270, 50+ RBI season that we all know he's gonna have.
jdub69 - June 9, 2007
I meam Kendall
jdub69 - June 9, 2007
I think Kennedy has
the better chance of the two to do that. Not to be meam, but...yeah.Nico - June 10, 2007
Haren for Mayor of Oakland!
...soon to be Mayor of Fremont, San Jose, the East Bay or Northern California!
I fell asleep after I got back from the game, but I'm still thinking about how great that game was for my fellow A's fans in the stadium.
I'm going to work tomorrow. I need that sweep because all my friends are Giants fans. Hopefully San Diego and St. Louis plays with some pride just for the end of this weekend.
As I always say, it's easier to be a Giants fan but more fulfilling to be an Athletics backer!
