If the A's have to sweat it out this bad to win a Haren-Tavarez matchup, what hope do they have these next three days? That's what's great about baseball--the A's have about the same chance they would have had if yesterday's score had been 8-1, because one day just doesn't predict the next.
Today it's DiNardo-Matsuzaka, with the A's lefty making just his second start in the Green and Gold, and "Dice-K" facing Oakland for the first time ever. The bad news about facing Matsuzaka is that his arsenal is about 8 deep, right down to the "gyro ball" which is second in fame only to Jay Witasick's legendary "sizzler". The good news about facing Matsuzaka is that he has a 4.83 ERA. In a typical start, Dice-K pitches a lot of innings and also gives up a few runs. On the Red Sox, that's often good enough to win (Dice-K is 7-3), but he has not pitched like any sort of an ace.
I'm on a strict pitch count (fine, word count) so baseballgirl will have tonight's wrap up; I'll be returning the favor tomorrow night. Meanwhile, let's get to the starting lineups, brought to you by--well, by my word processor, obviously.
Lugo - SS
Pedroia - 2B
Ortiz - DH
Ramirez - LF
Youkilis - 1B
Lowell - 3B
Varitek - C
Pena - RF
Crisp - CF
Buck - LF

Chavez - 3B

Vote for your A's!!
Hey guys,, I just finished voting 25 times on MLB.com for all the A's to be in San. Fran for the All-Star game. Go do the same!!! Lets have more than Dan Haren go this year!!
Hawk - June 5, 2007
I understand the logic
of "everyone else is doing it, so we have to too", but really ... this sort of straight-ticket voting is exactly why fan voting for the All-Star game is so stupid. The team with the most fans wins, and that's why the all-star team is packed with Yankees and Red Sox.
How many of our position players can you say with a straight face truly deserve to be in the all-star game? One? two? three? Surely no more than that.
iglew - June 5, 2007
ok nevermind
I just get sick and tired of the same damn players getting in and are not deserving. Haren, Gaudin, Swisher all have legitimate cases right now and Haren will be the only All-Star.
Hawk - June 5, 2007
I'd really like to see Swish make it
Possible, but unlikelyiglew - June 5, 2007
Dos!
I'm mad because I'm still sitting in my cube in San Francisco instead of being in the LFB where I have a ticket. I blame Laotian terrorists.
Englishmajor - June 5, 2007
I was stuck at work until 12:30 last night.
Hope you're not there that long.
monkeyball - June 5, 2007
Let's Go Oakland

Englishmajor - June 5, 2007
you are either the worst English Major ever
or the best Comparative Literature major around
LAXile - June 5, 2007
Apparently part of it says
"Matsuzaka has nothing to be afraid of".
Englishmajor - June 5, 2007
Or (according to Babelfish)
"There is no fearful thing in Matsuzaka", and I was able to sound out "DiNardo" in the katakana before my eyes crossed.
Englishmajor - June 5, 2007
Kotsay
When is he getting a day off? This is 5 straight starts, when I thought the original plan was to have him sit last night. I realize he's been sitting for a while now, but he's coming back from a back injury, and I'm not sure pushing it right now is the best move. Maybe Thursday with the day game following a night game?
IndianaAsfan - June 5, 2007
he's a gritty vet, like Kendall...
good place in the lineup for both of them, though.
FoolshGame22 - June 5, 2007
Yeah, but
does he call a good game from center?
IndianaAsfan - June 5, 2007
I'm feeling good vibes for...
Jack Cust this game. Couple HR's, maybe.
FoolshGame22 - June 5, 2007
One ray of hope for tonight:
From my experience, the SECOND day, not the first day, is when travel fatigue shows up. Maybe the Sox will be sluggish tonight, rather than the more predictable sluggerish. Let's hope so, because it looks like a DiNardo-Erasmo-Colby kind of night.Nico - June 5, 2007
DiNardo-Erasmo-Colby ...
... a particularly stinky appellation of cheese.
monkeyball - June 5, 2007
so when does bradley go BACK on the dl?
Vegas A's Fan - June 5, 2007
my guess: 4 more days
They'll try him in Thursday's game, he'll pull something again, they'll hold him out Friday, he won't be able to go Saturday. Won't DL him until then.
Yeah, it's a stupid sequence, but would it surprise anyone at all, given the histories of both Bradley and Beane?
monkeyball - June 5, 2007
Woo HOO!!
Go A's!!! I'm here for the whole game tonight :)
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
Hello AN. Let's put the smack down tonight.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
that is quite a commitment!
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
I might doubt myself
later... but I'm optimistic for now.
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
Yay, Cust in the lineup
I like Ellis batting #2, too
iglew - June 5, 2007
Bocachica is starting
in RF for the Padres tonight. In case anyone cares haha.
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
Lets go Oakland!
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
Anyone else have the Boston feed?
Di-Naaaaaa-do is going to be stuck in my head now.baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
I do
but it's muted. It's on my computer via mlb.tv, but I'm also watching the Dodgers/Padres on my tv. Vin is more fun to listen to. I got enough of the Boston guys when the A's played there.
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
I'm not listening
to it, just watching. maybe I should be listening, though. that sounds pretty amusing.
Christine - June 5, 2007
Yes. Just mentioned Dustin Pedroia-er.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
Come on DiNardo!
You can do this!
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
Seconded. Let's go Lenny.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
I'm lightheaded....
it's only the first inning.
Jennifer - June 5, 2007
Maybe try taking the chloroform from your face?
LAXile - June 5, 2007
Ha...you missed a GOOD game
and got stuck with this one ;-)
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
dudlar -- we are synched
LAXile - June 5, 2007

I have it recorded. I'll have to watch it on a day off. Or Saturday... I don't FOX will show the A's game in my area. Bitches.Jennifer - June 5, 2007
Ay...no es bueno
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
lenny not fooling anyone, uh oh
greendatitiz - June 5, 2007
Kendall just saved a run
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
or nearly cost us one
if you think his game calling skills have that much effect on the pitching ;) </snark>
DMOAS - June 5, 2007
Heh...was talking about the blocked pitch
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
Yikes!
Come on Lenny! One more out you can do this!
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
WHEW!!!!!!
greendatitiz - June 5, 2007
so early they are giving us health problems
smasfan - June 5, 2007
Wow...that was um...interesting
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
Lenny out of the 1st relatively unscathed.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007

drmmerchk - June 5, 2007

Wow...picks up where he left off.
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007

smasfan - June 5, 2007
MaEl is possessed right now. Come on Swisher.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
Love for one's family...
Can be a powerful possession.RenoTy - June 5, 2007
another smart line up move by Geren
DMOAS - June 5, 2007
Very smart
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
MaEl refuses to make an out.
Jennifer - June 5, 2007
MaEl!!!
I love it!
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
lets go swish
your turn tonight!!!!!!!!
smasfan - June 5, 2007
Hi Everybody!!!
LET'S GO OAKLAND!!
haroldMD - June 5, 2007
Hey there. Did you find an A's umbrella?
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
nope
still looking
haroldMD - June 5, 2007
MaEl does whatever he wants. He is Tony Montana.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
swisher has looked brutal since yesterday
Vegas A's Fan - June 5, 2007
Oh Swisher.
Maybe next time!
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
i can imagine how windy it is in the park since
even outside the park the winds are terrible
smasfan - June 5, 2007
I wrote to the A's mailbag to ask Urban about
being on both the A's site, and Giants radio, and his comments of beaning Buck, here is his response.
You either didn't hear that I actually said about the Buck situation or heard what you wanted to hear. The A's are happy with my work, and that's all that really matters to me. For the record, though, I didn't say Buck should be hit. I said don't be surprised if Matt Cain throws at somebody as payback for running up the score, and I absolved Buck of any blame because I saw Lachemann sending him.
Thanks for reading,
Mychael
theblackpearl - June 5, 2007
Father Urban. He "absolves."
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
Higher act?
OaklandInvader - June 5, 2007
oh that is funny.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
not a fan of the guy myself
Vegas A's Fan - June 5, 2007
We should have retractable foul territory.
We we're batting, the fans sit three inches off the line. Top half of innings, the fans in the front row need binoculars and the players need a taxi to get from the dugout.
Jennifer - June 5, 2007
we should install fans that blow the ball back in
during opponents AB's. Not sure how you would get cotton candy to the people, though, so the idea still needs some work. Call the Twins!
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
I'm picturing some sort of...
...steampunk inspired machinery being involved in the retraction of the seats, so that it is a big ordeal every time.I like the idea!
RenoTy - June 5, 2007
Dinardo getting squeezed?
CrunchyFrog83 - June 5, 2007
Who is stil alive in the pen, Lenny, is pitching
like squiggy, he is probably still on a pitch count
theblackpearl - June 5, 2007
Love Kots in CF
I feel so secure when someone hits it out there.
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
me too ;-)
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
Nice DP DJ!
Ice Cream - June 5, 2007
wow
smasfan - June 5, 2007
Great play by D. Johnson!
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
Woo Hoo!
Go A's!
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
Porn music between innings on NESN.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
so windy the guys with flags are having
problems
smasfan - June 5, 2007
Fans being on the DL is a distinct possibility.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
That was a sad AB
Not a good idea to swing at pitches out of the zone and then look at one that is. :(
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
Cust singles!
Jennifer - June 5, 2007
Hi everyone! No scapegoat costume tonight.
I fell asleep and missed the ending last night. :-(
kapers - June 5, 2007
I fell asleep and missed the entire game!
Jennifer - June 5, 2007
Is that what you kids are calling it these days?
FreeSeatUpgrade - June 5, 2007
yay!
We seem to like to squeeze pitches through small gaps between infielders tonight. Now we just gotta put some back to back :)
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
OH. MY. GOD.
THIS IS SOO BORING....
iloveoakland - June 5, 2007
its going to be a long night!!
smasfan - June 5, 2007
Man, those BoSox sweatshirts are boring
I mean, they have both red and blue to draw from in their color scheme, and they go with gym sock grey.
FreeSeatUpgrade - June 5, 2007
Reminds me that I'd like to sock Jim Gray...
...for any number of sportscasting offenses over the years.
Ice Cream - June 5, 2007
You and the Hit King
who'd also like to place a wager on the Ice Cream-Jim Grey dustup.
FreeSeatUpgrade - June 5, 2007
How long...
until we know if Kotsay's going to start hitting?
I think there's a real risk that, despite getting his back fixed, he's just a .700 OPS hitter these days.
NP15 - June 5, 2007
This is Mark Kotsay
So I can answer that right now: He's never going to start hitting quite the way you want him to start hitting.
Hope that helps.
RLangford - June 5, 2007
nice play bobby!
greendatitiz - June 5, 2007
Nice inning!
Woo!
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
I wonder if this wind rivals that game
against the Angels earlier this year, which was easily the coldest, windiest game I've ever attended at the Coli.
FreeSeatUpgrade - June 5, 2007
Nice work, Leonardo DiNardo.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
I keep on calling him
LiNardo...
iloveoakland - June 5, 2007
lets go ken-doll
a home run lol
smasfan - June 5, 2007
T-Buck does his small part. Let's go A's.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
lets go mark bring buck in
smasfan - June 5, 2007
YAY T-Buck!
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
LAA already up 2-0. Unbelievable roll for them.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
I can't believe
they are playing as well as they are. They're not THAT good. :(
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
I can't believe Vlad has stayed healthy. They
might be the best team in the AL this year, which could suck for us.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
I agree
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
God I hope you just jinxed him
I feel a seperated shoulder, DL stint for a month and a half for Vlady ... not that I want anybody injured...
Hawk - June 5, 2007
the sad thing is that Cabrera looks like an MVP.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
I'm hoping they are this year's Rangers
on fire in the beginning and then imploding in Aug and Sept. Any chance of that?
kapers - June 5, 2007
not likely with their pitching but let's hope.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
Sox announcers
Buck does not have good speed,,, Cust hit 8 homeruns at AAA Sacramento before his call-up. ??
Hawk - June 5, 2007
But... better than Hawk, Hawk.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
THAT is true
Hawk Harrelson has gotta be the worst...
Hawk - June 5, 2007
Way to go Swishah. Let's score here.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
Come on DJ
Bring T Buck home
Hawk - June 5, 2007
darn i bet its the wind
smasfan - June 5, 2007
Aww.
We were closer this time! Maybe next inning we'll get a run or two.
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
DJ: Right swing, right contact,
wrong time of day, wrong part of the ballpark. Sigh.Nico - June 5, 2007
like sands through the hourglass so are the days
of our A's lives.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
Did anybody hear Cotroneo's call last night...
of the Kotsay relay to Crosby to Kendall play at the plate? Truly uninspired and lacking in detail for what was a REALLY exciting play.
Ice Cream - June 5, 2007
the guy is depressing to listen to ;-(
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
Last night
we were listening to some of the broadcast on my dad's XM radio... and he totally did the "Ellis goes back, Kotsay comes in, and Mark makes the catch!" I was like "THEY'RE BOTH MARK!" it was funny.
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
Crosby looking Chavez-like on that play.
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
Not on that one.
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
Crosby looked Crosby-like on that one.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
thanks God
that wasn't a chainsaw
haroldMD - June 5, 2007
jinx
smasfan - June 5, 2007
he made up for it
smasfan - June 5, 2007
Crosby: Here, let me make that up to you
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
wow, how did crosby come up with that one
xbhaskarx - June 5, 2007
After the muff he made a pact...
with the Dirt Devil.
Ice Cream - June 5, 2007
Crosby hates routine plays.
Jennifer - June 5, 2007
I didn't want to comment
to jinx Croz... but I was really happy so far this game and thankful that he got over his early season defensive slump.
THANK GOD for a DP! Whew.
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
Crosby: "I'm better than Bubba"
nice DP
haroldMD - June 5, 2007
Just turned on the game.
Is DiNardo pitching this well? Or is he having Kennedy-luck?
danmerqury - June 5, 2007
3 BB 0 K
It's JoKe luck
CrunchyFrog83 - June 5, 2007
Small sample size this year but...
I'm wondering, well hoping, that DiNardo becomes the new Gaudin...a good starting pitcher picked up for nothing.
Also, I'm wondering if Mark Kotsay becomes another Jason Kendall. Given his declining offensive numbers the last two years and his start so far this year, will Kotsay become like Kendall, someone who plays because he is perceived as playing his defensive position well but takes at-bats away from someone who would hit better?
SA - June 5, 2007
lets go chavvy
smasfan - June 5, 2007
chavy!!
xbhaskarx - June 5, 2007
CHAVYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!

WOOOO HOOOOO!!!!
I was just going to comment that I don't remember him swinging and missing so much on low pitches... but then he hits a HR so all is forgiven :)
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
Aw!
I miss Sharon. She would have loved the hot Chavy/Swish dugout action NESN just cut to. :(
Jennifer - June 5, 2007
Where IS Sharon?!
We miss her too!
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
She doesn't love us any more.
I think she has a life. Me no likey.
Jennifer - June 5, 2007
Did he have another kid TOO?
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
I'd procreate with him.
Jennifer - June 5, 2007
Keep it clean. Diego might be around.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
chavy last night: it looked good because i feel
good
smasfan - June 5, 2007
wow. that DID NOT look gone.
dude does have power when he is clicking.
greendatitiz - June 5, 2007

kapers - June 5, 2007
Did you see the little Swisher/Chavy bump?!
SO cute.
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007

smasfan - June 5, 2007
That was the hot dugout action I mentioned above.
Sigh.

ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
"Chav, does this turf make my ass look big?"
Jennifer - June 5, 2007
or "Swish, that Pace Medium is way too hot!"
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
Swish, I prefer the stuff made in New York City.
Jennifer - June 5, 2007
You could hear
Chavez yell from the dugout, "Did you move, Manny?" while looking out to left field. That's some bravado by Chavy.
humdinger - June 5, 2007
He was safely in the dugout....
...with Kendall to protect him.
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
I can't believe
Dinner-do is throwing a one hitter. How do the A's come up with all these guys
closetasfan - June 5, 2007
SSHHHHH!
Your gunna jinx him
iloveoakland - June 5, 2007
lets go kots
smasfan - June 5, 2007
What really kills me..
is that we rip on a pitcher with a 3.30 ERA like Kennedy. What would the Yanks give for a pitcher with that kind of ERA right about now.
alox - June 5, 2007
Don't let Cust try a SB...
Ever.
Jennifer - June 5, 2007
did you ever see cust steal at home when he
played for baltimore. it was hilarious
smasfan - June 5, 2007
steal at home?
i don't think you understand what a steal is.
xbhaskarx - June 5, 2007
send kotsay (and kendall) down to single A
xbhaskarx - June 5, 2007
????
Give him some time...
iloveoakland - June 5, 2007
i'm fine with that
give him some time in the minors. if he's not ready to hit major league pitching yet, why is he up here.
xbhaskarx - June 5, 2007
Agree
Kotsay and Kendall: The Untouchables; The Intangibles; The Grits.
Take your pick.
Hate to say this because it's so unkind, but I'm never optimistic with Kotsay at the plate. Hopefully, he can recapture the magic of the month before we signed him to that pointless contract.
RLangford - June 5, 2007
That contract which I lauded at the time,
I should say.
RLangford - June 5, 2007
you ain't alone on that one.

This could be one of those low scoring affairs and I want the A's to be on top.
Ice Cream - June 5, 2007
I saw a little bit of

closetasfan - June 5, 2007
JASON KENDALL HIT FOR THE CYCLE!?!?!?!?!?!?
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
all in one year?
xbhaskarx - June 5, 2007
Even then, he wouldn't.
danmerqury - June 5, 2007
I thought the question asked
"Who is the only player to hit into a DP while riding a unicycle."
The answer made so much more sense with my question than theirs.
Jennifer - June 5, 2007
No joke!
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
Nice work!
kapers - June 5, 2007
This turning DPs thing is fun!
Sooooo much better than hitting into them!
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
very exciting and my blood pressure is lowering
each time it happens to Boston.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
Great job by DiNardo
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
So ummm....since when did we start
turning DP's instead of hitting into them? I could really, really get to like this.
alox - June 5, 2007
Don't look now...
...but this could be a short Red Sox game...
GreenNGoldSooner - June 5, 2007
Shhhhhh
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
Was at DiNardo's first start
And have to say that he looked very good that night. Fooling hitters, giving up nothing hit hard, relying on skill and not the luck of hard-hit balls at people.
Just kept thinking, "I hope this is who DiNardo is." Tonight is giving me more hope.
RLangford - June 5, 2007
Now let's get to this guy
RLangford - June 5, 2007
Way to work the work, Kendall.
GreenNGoldSooner - June 5, 2007
er...work the walk...
GreenNGoldSooner - June 5, 2007
Dice-K must be the only one in the league
who doesn't have the book on Kendall: right down the pipe
CrunchyFrog83 - June 5, 2007
and to think the BoSox paid $50 million
to TALK with him. I'd have talked to them for like $34.
LAXile - June 5, 2007
Damn.
Jennifer - June 5, 2007
Oh shit. MaEl is indeed human.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
ellis has the magic wand
smasfan - June 5, 2007
Please...Briggs isn't that impressive...
most guys can repeat the feat you know...
alox - June 5, 2007
come on swish
its your time to hit
smasfan - June 5, 2007
lets go swish!
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
I wish
ESPN would still have the Tuesday and Friday doubleheaders like they used to in the early 90s. I'd actually have a chance to watch some A's games like this one
closetasfan - June 5, 2007
they over-expose everything until it benefits you
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
Wow, Harden's sitting in the bullpen tonight
getting a feel for it?
FreeSeatUpgrade - June 5, 2007
Two is better than one...but need more!
LET'S GO OAKLAND!!!
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
SWISH! Double to left. Kendall scores!
Ice Cream - June 5, 2007
Well Piazza wouldn't have scored. 2-0 good guys.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
Sox have no answer
for that blazing Kendall speed.
FreeSeatUpgrade - June 5, 2007
and they pitched around him!
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
melhuse neither
skutch - June 5, 2007
SWISHA!!!
haroldMD - June 5, 2007
That was pretty.
Jennifer - June 5, 2007
we want more dj
smasfan - June 5, 2007
Woo Hoo!!!
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
Heh, that picture is hilarious.
danmerqury - June 5, 2007
thanks!
I made t-shirts haha
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
what are the odds
that Swish makes the All Star Team
I'd say a little better than 50%
I'd say Haren 98%, GoDan 60%, everyone else about 0 combined
closetasfan - June 5, 2007
I keep voting for him
I hope he'll make it! My friend and I voted 140 times yesterday lol
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
how about chavez?
smasfan - June 5, 2007
Sounds right on Haren and Swish
I'd put Chad at more like 25%, on rep and because the A's will already have their obligatory one representative.
FreeSeatUpgrade - June 5, 2007
he'll get screwed by the "Mark Redman" rule
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
Bring him home, DJ.
danmerqury - June 5, 2007
That was NOT A STRIKE
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
I have been confused
this whole game. Though usually it is when DiNardo's pitching and I feel like they're strikes when he calls them balls. But yes. I agree. Definitely outside :(
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
that was a BAD call
smasfan - June 5, 2007
mierda, y eso fue strike??!!!
haroldMD - June 5, 2007
wow, that was a ridiculous strike call
xbhaskarx - June 5, 2007
Right on, DJ. NOT a strike.
Ice Cream - June 5, 2007
Bull
Jennifer - June 5, 2007
DiceK
about to roll 100 for 5 innings.
closetasfan - June 5, 2007
It would be great if we could 7 out of Lenny.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
It'd also be nice if we could get more than 2
out of our offense. ;)
But I'm kinda proud of them...just don't think it's enough.
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
I like Mark Ellis.
Jennifer - June 5, 2007
I'm transferring my "man crush" from Swisher
to Mark Ellis. Just until little Briggsie gets his feet wet.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
MaEl!
Got the ill communication!
FreeSeatUpgrade - June 5, 2007
this month he's also got mad hits
like he was rod carew.
xbhaskarx - June 5, 2007
And with a name like Briggs Ellis
his kid could definitely be a High Plains Drifter.
FreeSeatUpgrade - June 5, 2007
plus he's got the ill communication.
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
MaEl---Gold Glove.
Ice Cream - June 5, 2007
Ellis!
<thud>
Is there anything you can't do?
baseballgirl - June 5, 2007
pitch?
Though I have never seen him try... so he could probably do that too!
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
win a gold glove
skutch - June 5, 2007
aww :(
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
Breast feed Briggs?

drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
Wait...
Did you mean me or MaEl? 'Cause I guess I could try. [shrugs]
Jennifer - June 5, 2007
looks like our defense is once again back
to video game levels of web-gemmy goodness.
xbhaskarx - June 5, 2007
Got a bad feeling..

smasfan - June 5, 2007

baseballgirl - June 5, 2007

skutch - June 5, 2007
Double Play!

drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
Buhhhhhfhghgfhfhhfdsd...
Four pitch walk?
danmerqury - June 5, 2007
Wow
Anyone else think that Dinardo just threw about 2 strikes in a row to Manny?
travisice - June 5, 2007
and one to Youkillis
ohtobe21likehuston - June 5, 2007
With the closed 3rd deck
Fenway is bigger than the Coliseum. Crazy stuff.
Hit4TheCycle - June 5, 2007
Man, the strike zone is SMALL.
Jennifer - June 5, 2007
It wasn't for the first 4 innings
FreeSeatUpgrade - June 5, 2007
I was just about to say the same thing.
drmmerchk - June 5, 2007
God, don't walk this in
paradox - June 5, 2007

haroldMD - June 5, 2007

The Double Play Bit Torrent
If anyone is interested I just found these for those of you who are enjoying tonight's fantastic game. Gotta love the double play, especially when it's Boston grounding into them! First one is last night and the other is Zito at the Col. May 18.

How can Youk bitch with a straight face?
I am not one to whine about balls and strikes but this game is ridiculous. You can see it in the NESN stike zone graphic. They have been giving Dice-K strikes off the plate all night. Dinardo is not getting any of those.
I can't believe we are up 2-0 with this inconsistent strike zone.
easyraider - June 5, 2007
WTF is up with Chavy?
Jennifer - June 5, 2007
CHAVVY IS HOT
smasfan - June 5, 2007
Let's crush these guys
And send their incredibly arrogant fans home and little less self-certain.
RLangford - June 5, 2007
Cust goes deep this inning
