this lineup just looks awful on paper. Beane didn't have the guts to bring up Barton or Ethier and he now has a banged up and tired team going into the teeth of the their schedule.
jason kendall is no longer a major league quality hitter. It's a joke that he's still hitting first or second in this lineup;
nick swisher has hit the same wall that Bobby crosby hit at this point last year; and Dan Johnson seems to be about to make contact with it as well;
But most importantly, we have a fraud-- and yes, I'm going to use that word-- playing third base. great defensively, but he shows absolutely no growth at the plate. Too many first pitch lunges; no ability to put the team on his shoulders.
And chavy-- I was deliberately harsh in hopes that maybe the reverse jinx will work.
6.1 IP 2ER. That's a quality start. The offense needs to help, the only way he could do it himself is to somehow pitch 9 innings with -1 ER (didn't we score -1 the other day on gameday?)
I don't get too upset because we don't hit ... I get upset when I don't see anyone making adjustments and trying a different approach..... same hacks, same lame result each and every AB
I don't know why they wouldn't believe the story about Joe getting stuck in the bathroom.
Joe's a pretty fiery guy and Macha isn't. If Macha had been ticked off for whatever reason, I don't think Joe and the guys on the bench would have been smiling.
when Joe gave up those two runs, he went to the bathroom and the ESPN guys showed a clip of Macha kicking the door. Blanton comes out SMILING. Everyone else is smiling. Someone even gives him some fiveage.
So the story is quickly explained as the bathroom dorr was stuck. Macha kicks it in. Everyone in Oakland is still happy.
But Papa and Gwynn kind of laugh it off like it was just a spin job.
